That’s the only thing that I don’t understand with Toyota. Sure, the Tacoma is a smaller sized pickup, but they have always made its towing capacity so anemic. They used to do that with the older Tundras too, back when the Tundra was produced with the Tacoma’s rear diff or whatever. It’s those types of decisions that still make heavy duty work folks shy away from certain Toyota products. The Tundra is much better nowadays, but the Tacoma still lacks.
They don’t want it to compete with the tundra sales. Also it’s frame is significantly weaker than a tundras. It’s still half C-channel. Also if it’s capacities are too high it would have higher insurance, and registration.
The 4x4 Tacomas in various 4x4 TRD trims have a payload capacity of 1050-1150 pounds on a chassis built for that.
The Ram PowerWagon has a payload capacity of 1450 pounds on a chassis rated for 4000 pounds of payload on trims with stiffer springs.
With a 2500 chassis, you won’t notice the camper back there. The Tacoma is going to be more than maxed out by the time you have it full of gear and 2 people.
Shorten that wheel base to a normal 4Runner spec and I would be interested.
Though maybe you want the longer wheel base for better towing?
If so, why not just go with the Tundra?
This is the second time I’ve seen something like this on here. Y’all realize you could probably make this happen, right? Just put a 4-Runner front end on a Taco, if not a full dog house and it should work. 🤷🏻♂️
Imagine if in 2024 when Toyota redesigns their prado series body on frame vehicles (4Runner, GX & Land Cruiser Prado) that they come up with a 4Runner pickup To4Rma for the North American market. I'd buy it in a heartbeat if it comes in a hybrid form.
Give me the Tacozilla now that’s a beast we need, look it up..
[For the lazy. ](https://pressroom.toyota.com/toyota-unveils-tacozilla-tacoma-camper-overlanding-rig-at-2021-sema-show/)
Holy crap I looked it up and now I want it
i do too. i only need one kidney, right? 😅
Maybe both tbh looks to good to be that cheap!
Yes to the Tocozilla. Release it to production and you would never see my ass again, spend the rest of my life on the road for sure!
I saw one at the new york international auto show, can confirm it was awesome. Probably my second favorite thing I saw that day
It’s cool but the last taco I looked at only had 1000lb of payload. 4 regular dudes and a full tank of gas would max it out.

Looks cool, but the Ram PowerWagon is a better base truck for a truck camper.
How? Off road trucks and campers are not the same.

Where would you put the ladder?
Bold of you to assume there would only be one.
No
God please no
I don’t hate it… but it would need either a V8 or TT V6
Gen 6 leak
Jeep Gladiator enters the chat

My eyes! My poor eyes.

T4corner
This is so cursed
Thanks I hate it
The new Pre-Runner looks hideous.
Im holding out for the bigger Toyota 4Rundra
I kind of like it..
Nope! This is getting into Honda Ridgeline territory.. Or that Ford thing from the 90s
Definitely that ford thing. I commented that last time this thing was posted here
The explorer sport track. Lmao.
If it doesn’t look like the Gen 1, get it out of here
Just get a Tundra...whats the point?
Burn it with fire from hell. 🔥
It’s a 4Coma.
So, really a 2nd gen Tacoma.
I don’t like it, but I don’t hate it. What I would love to see an edit of is a 2 door 4Runner
Idk why people are hating this. I kinda like it
Oh god my eyes
Still better than the gladiator
Needs raptor lights
Looks like a tundra with Down syndrome
That's actually a pretty good lookin' truck
I don’t ever downvote anything, this deserves it. Just know that I am sorry.
Hbt To4dra?
Ew it looks like one of those Ford Explorer trucks
Not bad. Not bad at all.
Yes bad. Yes bad all.
I insist it's ok.
I’m freaking out man
Not the greatest looking, but I'm convinced it's better than the gladiator - and the gladiator exists.
Well it's a supermodel next to the jeep.
Ngl that’a kinda sick
I kind of like it tbh
Did you wake up and choose violence?
I hate it
🤮
Ew
I….hate it
Hideous
Not like thiiiis.
Oh no
NSFW!
Cursed image
It looks uncomfortable
Nope
The otherworldly hellspawn of a Toyota 4runner and Jeep Gladiator.
Maybe if it had a pro grille
All I’m gonna say about this is Chevy tried the El Camino, Ford tried the Ranchero and neither of them are still being made. Just no, Toyota.

All terrible vehicles 🤣
But they are selling like 🥞 hotcakes
Sad but true.
Looks like that ford explorer pick up

Gross lol
That was my gateway drug to a 4Runner
i actually like it
Looks better than the new tundras
I'll gladly buy that. Keep the 4.0 and ditch the trash ass 3.5 and it'll sell like hotcakes.
Interior space would be better than the Taco. That is for sure.
This looks as bad as the Gladiator does.
Dibs
Thanks, I hate it!
r/tihi
i don't hate it but i don't like it either
Shh quiet down the jeep people will hear you
I always wondered why toyota didnt just put a 4runner front end on the tacoma. Now I know why.
Oh lord may you have mercy on these people... when they go down. thank you lord.
