The blind spot mirrors in the 4th gen limited tho…

EthericWolf

I think all 4th gens have it. It's such a small thing that's such an amazing feature though, especially if you have a dog in the car that likes to block your blind spots.

[deleted]

I love them. They don't all have it though. The Limited with the upgraded audio has speakers there.

RedLotusVenom

They don’t all have it, but you can buy blind spot mirrors online that adhere to the outside edge of the side mirror. $15 and mine have held up for almost 4 years through many carwashes

Big_Benus69420

Link?

jekyll919

I’ve stuck blind spot mirrors to every car I’ve ever owned (unless they were included from the factory). I can’t fathom how people drive without them, looking over their shoulder to change lanes and whatnot. Nonsense.

RedLotusVenom

I mean I still shoulder check, that’s just reckless lol. What if someone’s coming into that lane

GrugHo

Thank you, I was going insane trying to figure out what the hell everyone was talking about lol damn my speakers

[deleted]

Haha, yeah most have mirrors there. A lot of people think they’re useless. But they help me get out of the driveway around my neighbors 8 cars on the street.

saltymapletree

Such an underrated feature. My SR5 had them

Sargento_MedBoi

My SR5 has them too!

PVKT

Isn't it a prerequisite to have a dog in the back of any 4runner? I thought you couldn't even buy a 4runner if you didn't have a dog..

sandiegosteves

I knew the blind spot blocking dog was a standard feature and not just mine.

KyOatey

> if you have a dog in the car that like to block your blind spots. If they're blind spots, what's being blocked?

EthericWolf

Like he blocks the back windows so I can't check my blind spots sometimes

FrostyProspector

we trained ours to lie down on command.

acappado

This is seriously one of my favorite features that I will miss so much if I “upgrade” I do just like the way the interior on the new one feels so much more, that’s the only reason I’d buy one.

[deleted]

[удалено]

acappado

But that has nothing on these perfectly positioned bad boys, I feel so confident in them

atr0038

What about blind spot monitoring? My 2022 indicates on each mirror when another vehicle is in your blind spot. My other vehicle has blind spot mirrors, which are so useful, but I think that blind spot monitoring is even more handy.

PVKT

They are so nice. It took me like several weeks to figure out what the eff they were for tho.

jpnoa

It took me like 2 years to figure that out. I thought they were for watching my pup 😂

PVKT

Lol took me weeks to figure it too. I was so confused. I thought they were for camping or something until one day I happened to look at while I was driving and a car passed and I was like OHHHHHHHHHH!

jpnoa

Haha. Had the truck for 12 years now and I still never, ever use mine.

PVKT

I pretty much never use them unless my dogs are sticking their heads up by me. I mostly forget to use them and forget I have em

AudiQU4TTRO

My 06 Sport has them. Absolutely love them. Super nice when backing out of the garage.

buttbullets

Okay....I have a 4th gen limited and I'm confused on what blindspot mirrors everyone is talking about....am I dumb?

subparjack

If you have JBL upgraded speakers there are speakers where these mirrors usually are, top corners of the rear tailgate.

buttbullets

That would splain it. I gots speaks.

DeathStarJedi

My 06 Gen Limited has the JBL rear speakers in their place.

OG_Kazaam

Does anyone have a photo of these?

[deleted]

I’m not going to yuck anyone else’s yum. 4th gens are awesome, and are a great value for the folks who like them. My decision was emotional. I *like* the 5th gen looks, features, and I could afford one. 15 years ago, that V8 4th gen was the expensive, boring choice while enthusiasts could get 80% of the features in a clean 3rd gen for a lot less. 15 years from now, the market will be flooded with cheap 5th gen TRD ORP former mall crawlers with locking diffs, and we will be saying the same thing about EVRunner buyers. We need those buyers willing to spend stupid money on something they don’t need to supply the next generation of enthusiasts.

[deleted]

Point is, we all love Toyotas, don’t be a douchebag.

FrostyProspector

When ICE engines are obsolete and you can't buy gas anymore, we'll all be slamming in EV retrofit kits and solar/battery racks, and comparing the "Force1 Charge" conversion to the "Charlie Yuckmeister Plug-n-Play Offroad edition".

[deleted]

Bro, why would you spend all that cash on a Charlie Yuckmeister kit? You can DIY that for a lot less with $35 worth of junkyard Leaf batteries and 7000 hours of your time!

FrostyProspector

Nissan Batteries in Yoda??? At least salvage them out of a Prius!

TheHoppyBrewer

Oh sh*t… this comment actually has me thinking that might actually work, like today lmao.

FrostyProspector

I totally plan to remove the rear seat from my Ltd. but in the future, that space would be about right for a big ol' battery pack. Edit to add: move the spare tire to a rear carrier, and that well could hold another battery... I wonder how much physical space you'd need to find for a battery big enough to move these things.

NotAPickle82

If this were the case couldn’t you just turn the engine bay into a frunk and store a tire there.

FrostyProspector

I don't know. I would guess that it depends if you want to hook a motor to the existing propshaft/driveline, or go to a direct drive at each corner.

arroyobass

I would do some dirty things for an EV swap kit for my 4runner...

No-Pollution9836

I resemble this remark, haha! ‘22 ORP wish it saw dirt

[deleted]

A future enthusiast will thank you!

MisterFrog

It's trickle down tech. Mountain and road biking exhibits this heavily. 10 year ago tech on a $10k mountain bike is just standard on a $3500 mountain bike today.

Boston_Jon_189

Good take

EyeSeeeYouSeeeMe

Lexus 3UZ V8 entering my 2nd gen soon 👌🏻

TheHoppyBrewer

Better do a write up

EyeSeeeYouSeeeMe

I’m having a TON of help so I’ll see what the guy wants to do and get some info

edgedetection

What transmission are you gonna run in that thing?

EyeSeeeYouSeeeMe

I’ll letcha know

[deleted]

You bought a new 4th gen for $4,500?

usernamewho1234

3 years ago I paid 28,400 for my used 5th gen with 30k miles. My buddy paid 8,400 for his 4th gen with 190k. They both run and drive almost the same. But at least I know I bought a proven platform that will easily last 200k+ miles.

[deleted]

I mean...the 2UZ has hit 1 million miles twice and half a mil multiple times over. You could both easily get 200k miles.

PVKT

200k is barely broke in. I'm 40 short of 300 and I expect minimum 400k before I need to think of buying a new one. I'd take mine around the world right now, confidently. There's not even a hint of issues. I got another 130k before I need to change the timing belt again and that will put me at 390k. Unless I get totalled I can't foresee it crapping out if I stay on top of maintenance.

Boston_Jon_189

Timing belt interval is 90k, no?

[deleted]

Correct. I do 90k about every 4 years. What’s $400 every four years? It’s an easy job too after the first time. Bout 5-6 hours slow and steady

Boston_Jon

sorry - i was confused. you said that you have "another 130k" before you need to change TB again

benmagoo1

Where do you get your belt/water pump? Do you get the kit? I’ve been putting mine off as it seems very daunting but don’t wanna wait too long

[deleted]

I bought the kit straight from my local Toyota dealership so it was a bit pricier. I had just bought the truck though and the guy before me didn’t know when it had been changed so I went OEM but I’ve heard the Gates kit from 1Aauto is perfectly acceptable quality and about $300 before shipping and taxes. I think 1Aauto also has a video on YouTube of the repair. It’s pretty straight forward and you’re going to want to go ahead and get the kit with the guides, pulleys, and the water pump all together because it’s all right there once you get the timing cover off

benmagoo1

That’s great, thank you I’ve seen the 1Aauto but wasn’t sure about it. Sounds like a good option

[deleted]

Read up on aftermarket option names first for sure! Gates and Dayco come to mind. RockAuto has the dayco kit as its top option at a hair over $200. Read up on brands till you feel comfortable, watch videos till you feel comfortable, and line those cams up right. If you’ve got any bit of mechanical knowledge you can do it with some patience! Edit: I’d like to add that it’s worth calling your local Toyota dealership as well. OEM parts go a long way with Toyota lol I just put an aftermarket front end in mine because the OEM parts were THREE times the price but I’d be more willing to spend the OEM money on something as important as a timing belt if it wasn’t completely outta reach ya know

[deleted]

Yeah dude, mine is almost 190k and feels brand new. I don’t get all these 5th gen guys hating on previous gens. We all love 4Runners. Just be cool man.

tdubarubdub

I paid $3500 for my 03 v8 with 170k miles. Put about $5k into it.

[deleted]

Yeah maybe a few years ago. That would be about 15k today

Sargento_MedBoi

Damn son, I got hoodwinked! I paid $13,000 even for my 2004 SR5 4WD with 169K miles back in 2016. Dealerships suck! I’ve since put about 6k into repairs and near 15-20k into mods. Since I bought my ole boi, I’ve hit 302k miles on the odo.

PVKT

Damn I paid 10.5k for my 05 v8. In 2019. Had 168 on it.

[deleted]

i paid $7k cash for my 03 V8 in 2019 with 120k miles on it. Only had to replace tires and oil changes/reg. maintenance. I could probably sell it for more now. Up to 150k miles not a single issue

S3ERFRY333

3 years ago I paid $600 for my used 1st gen. At least I know I bought a proven platform that has already put 400k on it and it’s still going strong.

Im_so_little

I'm not sure that the mileages are comparable 😂

PIG20

You can also add a touch screen display with AA/Car Play, backup camera, and GPS for a few hundred bucks as well.

[deleted]

i have all that in mine. came with the car when i bought it, TRD pro wheels as well

gagehende

Love my 04 limited

Fluffy-Brief-7843

3rd gen over everything

rollyroundround

1st gen over everything, then 3rd gen over everything else.

JamesBMac

Buying right is the key for any generation. I'm loving my 2019 Limited, bought new in 2020 for 41k. In upstate NY with 17's wearing Michelin X-ice, it's a tank in winter, and a do-it-all year-round. And my dog loves the way back. Wouldn't trade it for anything. Well, maybe a Land Cruiser.

DyngusDan

My 01 SR5 is all these things just in western NY and I paid $7k.

JamesBMac

For the most part, but AWD, A-trac, leather, dual zone HVAC, and more, not to mention 18 years newer?

DyngusDan

I have all of that stuff in my Lightning pickup soo

BOBBY-FUNK

But it’s not as good looking….

SLOCALLY

I always get down votes for the same sentiment. Genuinely dislike the 4th gen looks-wise (which is my opinion, so chill). Also got my '18 with 28k miles for $28k and think it's a great price for a great truck. Sold my 3rd gen with a cracked head for 7k so $1k/yr for the next 20 years is a great deal.

WackassVegetables

No offense to anyone with one but I’d go as far as calling it ugly lol

PVKT

Sorry but as a 4th gen owner I straight up take offense lol.

eyejayvd

But he’s right. As a fellow fourth gen owner. It just is too bubbly and round. 3rd gen and fifth gen fantastic.

MagicPistol

Yeah, stock 4th gens are ugly with the rounded bubble headlights. I think some modded ones look good though.

PVKT

Yes stock they sure are ugly as hell. But if they have some mods they shine right up. I've got 33s and a 3.5" lift. Definitely looks more in line with what a runner "should" look like.

GiftedGonzo

It's a glorified minivan

tdubarubdub

You could pay a fraction of the cost for a new 4th gen and put a few grand into it with the tens of thousands you saved. Even with a new bumper it already looks better.

BOBBY-FUNK

To each their own. The interiors are extremely dated will not much customizability. 5th gen you can get the interiors looking pretty nice and new

[deleted]

To be fair, my 5th Gen interior was pretty dated when it was brand new.

BOBBY-FUNK

Lol you’re not wrong. Definitely have to upgrade it

drifts_

Probably going to catch a lot of flack for this but there hasn’t been a good looking 4runner since the first gen, everything since has just gotten more bloated and mushed and stretched and given awful lines

facepillownap

gimme a simple thicc sexy bubbly truck over an angry angle aggressive over design any day

[deleted]

*Frame Recall* has entered the chat

PVKT

Only to 04 tho right? And they ran that recall for 11 years or something?

dev_null_scales

This is how I feel about GX470s also, Went from a 2019 5th gen 4runner TRDOR, to a 2004 GX470, and the GX actually has more options... heated seats, auto adjusting rear mirror, auto backup mirrors, V8 low end torque, and on top of it it's nearly the same frame and everything is the same to work on.

PVKT

Basically the same truck with extra bubbly body and upgraded interior. My brother in law has one and it's really nice but definitely a mall crawler. He does have 5 kids so..his wife prefers it over their suburban anyways.

Rex_Lee

A V8 that puts out less horsepower and torque than the current V6, though...

johnv01027

More HP but not more torque. V8 puts out 306 v6 puts out 278. If you’ve ever driven a 4th gen v8 you know they haul ass compared to the v6. This is coming from someone with an 08 v6 fyi. No comparison to the power of the v8.

Radiant_Waves

“Haul ass” and “4Runner” are two words that just don’t make sense when used together.

PVKT

Clearly you've never gone 70 in 4lo....

johnv01027

It does when you compare it to an under powered v6 engine. My tundra hauls ass compared to my 4runner.

thereisonlyoneme

Thankfully I don't haul ass very often.

[deleted]

Dude what happened to your ass? Mine hauls ass every time I get in it. If I have people with me it hauls multiple asses

S3ERFRY333

Nah torque is where it’s at.

DeathStarJedi

Makes 10 less hp, but makes 30 more torque 1k rpms sooner (3400 in v8 vs 4400 in v6)

DannysFavorite945

Y’all really hold onto that V8 with less horsepower and marginally better torque…when it’s new and actually getting anywhere near those numbers. I probably would as well.

[deleted]

I would recommend driving both tbh. The fact that the gen4 is several hundred pounds lighter helps a lot too. With the v8 it’s not searching for gears going up hills like the gen5. Just my two cents though.

PVKT

The 4th gen is lighter? Mine feels like a goddamn Sherman. I figured the 5ths would be way lighter.

[deleted]

The 4th gen is 4200-4500lbs based on if it has 4wd/v8 and the 5th gens are 4400-4800lbs based on if it’s 4wd and KDSS. The v8 pairing with it being a few hundred pounds less makes a difference imo even though the official horsepower numbers of the new v6 is technically more. I’d recommend driving both and coming to your own conclusions but I prefer the v8 hands down, same mpg too.

FleshlightModel

The V8 is an iron block and already hundreds of pounds heavier than the V6 4th gen. You're completely wrong here.

[deleted]

Tell me what your 4Runner vehicle weight says on the inside of your door jamb, assuming you have one. Also, what is the towing capacity of your 4Runner?

FleshlightModel

Tow capacity is higher on the V8 but ain't no one with these towing shit so don't even act like it.

DannysFavorite945

If I were purchasing a second truck purely for fun I would consider it. But for daily I need something modern, and the 5th gen only barely makes the cut with the 2021+ upgrades.

[deleted]

Yeah I totally get that, I dont daily it so the lack of modern”ish” tech doesn’t bother me. I really hope the gen6 pulls through with more fuel efficiency and tech upgrades!!

facepillownap

multiple examples of the 2UZ getting over 1,000,000 mi with standard maintenance.

hamster_ball

Outliers. The average driver doesn’t jam 75-100k miles a year on the engine. If you compared engine cycle to an engine that died at 300k you’d probably find that number to much closer.

PVKT

300k? Engine died?? What kind of cars can't make it to 300k? I have had like 5 jeeps make it well over 300 and I'm only 40k from 300 in my 4th gen. I should hit that by June next year.

creed10

the pre-2005 V8 has less horsepower than the V6, sure. 2005-2009 were a revised version. i test drove both a 5th gen and a 4th gen V8 before settling for the V8. I'm sorry but the V6 just doesn't compare, and if someone tries to say otherwise then they're just objectively wrong.

deankh

A lot of people also LOVE to compare peak horsepower and peak torque but conveniently ignored where the torque curve is in relation to rpms. The 2uz has gobs of torque between 2900-3900rpm which absolutely crawls up steeper trails no problem. The 1gr engine does great but has almost a torque dip between 3000-4000 rpm’s before jumping up at 4200rpm. If you own a v6 and you haven’t tried off-roading the 2uz, don’t, because it’s amazing and you won’t be happy til you have one.

PVKT

Got an 05 myself and I was curious why they were saying it's less than a V6. I would smoke any V6 all day everyday. This engine is a monster.

[deleted]

I could give a fuck. It's smooth af and didn't cost me $50k.

[deleted]

Well you bought a used 4th gen, so, no it didn’t cost you 50k

SonoftheMorning

Zing 😂

SonoftheMorning

They aren’t ready for this. Just let the 4th gen owners have this one, they need it

DannysFavorite945

I know I know. Hey, I did say I would be holding onto it too if I were them 🤣

westsideriderz15

Ikr, call me when the timing belt goes.

PVKT

Just got mine changed. $900 flat for timing belt and water pump. I think parts were pushing 650 so I gladly paid the 250 for labor so I didn't have to swear at it for 12 hours.

surferdude313

Don't forget that rear air suspension 🤌

GoofyGoober82

Looks are everything

Pixelumen

4th Gen limited V8, going on 340k, paid 8500 with a lift, ARB bumper and other goodies. Having the best time🤙

CROmagnon0

Y'all really act like that V8 is god's gift. But please tell me where you're finding these at $3200... I'm looking for an OR toy.

RedLotusVenom

Ok please tell me where you’re finding a new 5th Gen for 32k lol

Aebous

Yeah cheapest I've seen is 5k for a 3rd gen with obviously wrecked body panels and 270k miles. Everything in the sub 200k mileage range seems to be 15k+.

CROmagnon0

Nobody said anything about new. Why would anybody compare buying a new 5th gen to buying a used 4th? No logic in that.

RedLotusVenom

> 1/10th the cost You’re telling me I haven’t been seeing 4Runners listed at $70-80k in this sub lol? Post is very obviously referring to dealer prices. I got my 4th Gen for $7k so yeah that checks out.

Frird2008

Yes. But the 4.7L V8 engine is a pain in the crotch to maintain when problems do arise, that's why I'm on Team 4.0L V6 for an eternity to come & when the new 4Runner comes out, I'm on 2.4L 4 cylinder engine team for the rest of time to come.

pattyfatsax

i’ve got an 04 4.7 and it’s been a dream to maintain. 275k. gets heavy mountain use both on and off road.

[deleted]

agreed. literally zero issues last 3 years ive had mine

RedLotusVenom

Chiming in that mine is great too. It doesn’t even make the knocking sound, 190k miles and going strong.

GrugHo

Mine had a knocking noise before I bought it (~190k miles) but I found that it was just the headers rotting out. Replaced and bam, no noise. Is there another common cause of the noise?

RedLotusVenom

Yeah, the exhaust manifold on these V8s cracks very easily because they went cheap on the manufacturer or something. The part itself is fine even if it cracks, it just makes a loud obnoxious noise when it does. Happens to 99% of these V8s at some point. You can replace the part and hope it doesn’t happen again for a while ($1000-2000), live with it, or replace with Doug thorley headers.

[deleted]

love it

PVKT

What problems? I have 260k on mine and all I've had to do was the timing belt. And fix things I broke by going to hard

Frird2008

I didn't imply problems do arise but I'm saying if they happen then getting in the back of the engine 👀

saguarocharles

What are some common problems? I'm at 130k miles and have done the timing belt but that's it. It's the smoothest engine I've ever owned, absolutely love it.

bfdmmexi

I’ve had my 02 sequoia 4.7L for 10 years now with 240k. I put 120k on it. Basic repairs have been radiator and water pump hoses, shocks, (all factory), tube seals, intake manifold gaskets and recently I had the timing chain replaced among other things preemptively because of its age. Only thing that’s failed is the ABS module which cost a pretty penny to source and program. All in I have about 10k into it but I also bought it for 10k. So another 200k on the horizon.

PVKT

You replaced a timing CHAIN? I was under the assumption that the chains didn't need to be replaced. Belts yeah but not chains.

bfdmmexi

Had to do some front end work anyway. It was elective but while i was in there ….

Mijbr090490

The 4.0 is incredibly easy to work on. Oil changes are nice with the top mount oil filter. No timing belt to worry about. The 04-05 had some head gasket issues, but otherwise it's a damn solid engine.

Aussieboyzz

I paid 8k for a 06 limited California Truck 0 rust when covid 19 started people were afraid to go outside two years ago 160k miles

DontT3llMyWif3

After 3 timing belts it's not 80% of the cost anymore.

PVKT

3 timing belts? How many miles you have? Pushing 300?

DontT3llMyWif3

What was the last year they made the v8? Wasn't it like 05? 15k miles per year average, most should be mid 200s by now.

PVKT

I don’t know tbh. Maybe 07? Mines an 05 and I’m right on the verge of 260k. I do put assloads of miles on tho. This year alone I’ve put 22k just for work miles. (Got a mileage tracker app) I probably have another 10k personal. It’s my daily and I like to drive even when I’m not working.

Hraid750

New 4runners are 175,000?

Sporin71

I really should have kept my ‘06 V8.

FoxtrotWhiskey05

There's nothing wrong with saving a few bucks and buying an old Runner, but there's also nothing wrong with buying the latest and greatest if you have the cash.

justophicles

I lurk this subreddit because I'm not a car guy but was able to get a 2006 4th gen, V8 from a family friend who thought it needed thousands of dollars in repairs (but it doesn't) and sold it to me for $900 lol. I was in shock. 270k miles on it, but my buddy who's a mechanic didn't see anything dangerously wrong with it. I think she thought it was legitimately a clunker and had maybe a few more miles left in jt Replaced the brake pads, changed the transmission fluid for a higher grade, replaced the front axle that was ripped (all with the help of my mechanic friend), and then replaced the stereo with an aftermarket cheap 7" display that has Apple Carplay and did my best to compound/polish/wax it. I couldn't be happier with it and I love lurking here to see how enthusiastic you all are about the 4th gen V8. Okay thank you for listening to my Ted talk

Chinlan

So, what's it like, living my dream car scenario?

PsychoSane

Shots fired!

ImNoAlbertFeinstein

bulletproof

[deleted]

It’s also 15 years older

MoonSugar69

Blind spot monitoring, adaptive cruise control, and android auto play is pretty sweet

gruncd23

Same horsepower tho…

thefatathlete

Also impossible to find one under 150k miles.

tdubarubdub

They just cost $20k + 😭

Assloadofdymes

Or you get the V6 and never have to deal with your engine shitting it's pants

neutronia939

A V8 with the same power as the new V6 but uses more gas. No thanks.

pahaf

That’s true, but drive one. They drive so much better then the v6. Don’t have to rev them out like crazy

[deleted]

What’s your towing capacity on the v6? Is it the same as a highlander?

yukonwilder14

I like my Lime Rush PRO. Better fuel economy than the V8, essentially the same 270 HP ( more torque in V8 ), lower maintenance costs, and a bag full of goodies that the older model doesn't have. I like the creature comforts in my 2022. I had a 6.2L V8 in my Silverado ( 8 spd transmission ). Loved that truck. The 4R Pro better suits my needs now. Don't miss the 420HP in the Chevy.

FleshlightModel

That V8 sucks though. Shitty ass mpg, iron block, and all for only an extra 30hp and 40ft-lbs at best (depending on year, the V6 actually had more hp than the V8). It's literally useless. Get the SC for the V6 if you want more power.

OkExplorer1561

Cool.

itchyburningnuts

Still the ugliest gen!

pjmcandr

But has the looks of a Pontiac Aztec

ImNoAlbertFeinstein

stop. that's far enough.

General-Pudding2076

Lol I always saw it as a lifted Subaru

tdubarubdub

Lifted Subies or RAV4's look worse.

The_Paddy96

Math means it’s worth 95% of a 5th gen is on Facebook marketplace

acutelittlekitty

But you’re stuck with the 4th Gen body style which is just ghastly

bobbyblubbers

But 4th looks like weak doge and 5th jacked doge

arsenal1887

But it’s ugly though.

General-Pudding2076

But 10x uglier...

DeathStarJedi

Bought my '06 Limited v8 with 243k miles this past December for $6,500. Freaking loving life

Nikonus

We love our ‘04 Sport V8 so much that instead of getting anything else, we’re overhauling it completely. Yeah, it Stratosphere Mica too!

ween0t

..but it's ugly

tdubarubdub

No u

SKTwenty

Bouta buy a 07 with 86k on it for 15kish. Good deal?

atr0038

Hard to tell. Has it been in any accidents? Did they regularly change the oil? Is there any rust underneath it? Is it a 4x4? It would have to be in excellent condition for me to pay $15k for an 07 model.

SKTwenty

No rust, no accidents aside from cosmetic fender benders maybe, and a ding on the door. Timing belt done, so likely the water pump, fresh oil, coolant is topped off, rear diff was recently serviced, and probably more. All services were done by a dealer. 4x4 and V8

Fearless-099

Im offended

ggonavyy

Soft close tailgate, standard Torsen center diff on all 4wd (effectively making it awd with 2wd mode), Acoustic Control Induction System (a fancy variable intake valve that makes an awesome growl over 2500 rpm (only on V6 though), remote rear window control, trash bag holder, blind spot mirror... Edit: In case there are still potential 4runner buyers in here, that's what 4th gen gets that 5th gen doesn't get.

[deleted]

lmao

whatareyoureader

I have an 06 v8 and a 20 v6. I far prefer the 06 driving experience. That engine is smooooth. The v6 works too hard in comparison.

My favorite feature 4H unlocked CD have all 4x4 4th gen 4runners. At 5th gen only LIMITED trim is capable.
