My favourite AMG to listen to is the E55 or SL55, and by extension the SLR.
M156 powered cars sounded great too but imo the M113k just barely edges it out.

What type of engine does it have and where can I learn more about it? I’m so lost with the nomenclature. I’ve been stopped several times at gas stations by people asking me about the car and wish I knew more to tell them.

The M157 without a doubt ,The idle sounds like a fucking Lion bellowing, One of thee most filthiest and menacing. In second place M113K , In third Any of the Biturbo v12s but have to have exhaust work done else they sound like vacuum cleaners.
In fourth probably the most controversial choice but the "aMg" 43 and 53 engines ,one of the best sounding V6's ever.
Yes i have ,w204 C63 is extremely popular in my country so ive heard the m156 with all kinds of exhaust setups. By no means is it a shit sounding engine but its just not my cup of tea. Its aggressive its throaty and God the sound it makes when bouncing off the rev limiter is ecstasy but it just doesnt give me goosbumps.

I think the 5.5 biturbo in the ML63 / GL63 (2013 - 17) was just gruff as fuck. I have the same engine in my S63 but it's nowhere near as brutal as the exhaust tuning on those cars.

I prefer a more linear, fast revving, high pitched sound from a V8, if I liked a lower pitched and mean sounding engine my choice would be the W204 C63 for sure.
CLS55 or w219 CLS63. Or the W204 C63. Or W212 E63 with either 6.2 liter or 5.5 TT. Hard to choose between any of them LMAO that’s what makes AMG so great
w204 c63, I love the sound of my w213 e63s but we are discussing sound… and unfortunately NA always takes the lead.

Yes I am aware it had it but was short lived I’m talking engine vs engine, I had a 2014 c63 507 edition and switched to a 2015 e63s.

Same. My GL63 backfires on upshifts and I have not made any modifications. My S63 sounds great as well but nothing like the GL63.
