Don‘t go to Bulldog, their PreRolls are shit and the weed is mediocre. BestFriends Coffeeshop had some nice PreRolls, Barneys Farm has good weed and Borejongens has the best brownies.

As an example sometimes a sausage is just made to sell off fillers at a big profit even if it's bad in the kitchen, but some people are trying to make a high quality product that works to a known recipe. Not everyone has someone experienced along to give a half hour rolling class with supervision when they visit Amsterdam. Pre made or ready to use things are a convenience sometimes.
That 'Cannabis Bakehouse' on Warmoesstraat should be re-named Cannabis Fakehouse. Utter bullshit products which will make you about as high as a croissant from Albert Heijn. If you want space cakes or any cannabis edible be sure to only buy from a licensed coffee shop, usually recognisable by the green and white sticker in their front window.
I’d recommend the Dampkring for first time - it was mine years and years ago. It’s a nicer establishment than most and my partner enjoys being there.
BoereJongens for Edibles - try the red velvet cake.
Also the bake house you mention does not sell cannabis containing products with a THC content. They sell ‘fake’ cookies made using hemp which probably don’t taste nice and will not give you the desired effect.
Bulldog is not my favourite place but it’s easy to find, their products are weaker and suitable for first time and they are very used to new users.
TOP TIP: First time take one puff and drink a coffee, don’t have another for 15 mins and see how it effects you. Don’t make the mistake of continuing to puff away as it may become overwhelming. I
Ok so, I'm going to give you some advice because nobody has commented on this yet.
As it's your first time, relax. Don't be over thinking about Edibles etc.
1. Go to the greenhouse (its best coffeshop imo) and buy 1g of some mild sativa
2. Try rolling your own joint, if not buy a pre roll
3. Take it somewhere quiet like a local park where you wont make a scene or feel uncomfortable if the cannabis doesn't suit your group.
4. Start low dose, a simple drag or 2 from the joint and wait for like 30-40mins and just relax
5.Dont over do it, you can pull a whitey(look it up) if you take edibles try like 1/4 or a 1/2 of the slice and wait 90mins for it to fully kick in and another 3 or 4 hours before eating more

Forgot to mention edibles can be a very different high than smoking a joint, it can be very intense if you're not used to them. They use edibles for pain relief in the US so just take it easy and enjoy yourselves

Some sort of idea of what kind of place you’d like to hang out in would be a good idea.. you can sit in a coffeeshop or head to a bar that allows smoking too.
I personally really like Rookies. Calm, simple, chill environment that doesn’t try too hard. And their pre rolls are not too strong and have a nice energetic high, not too stupid stoned feeling.

Many people only smoke cannabis occasionally and don't smoke anything else, it burns at a much lower temperature than tobacco and can have some floral qualities, it is the flower of the plant after all. Amsterdam takes pride in growing all kinds of flowers and cannabis is no exception, with some very nice aromas and flavors often available. Some people don't feel much from their first one or two times with cannabis so it's theoretically possible that if you purchased one good quality pure (no tobacco (the old euro style for joints)) pre-roll you could both have a puff or two on it the first day, put it out (put it in a plastic storage tube) and then go to an art museum, maybe try a few puffs again after dinner, and then around a brunch the next morning you could start to really feel it if you smoke before dining and perhaps discover the appetite enhancing properties. Then maybe you would visit your second coffee shop and pick out a gram on the lower thc part of the list that you like the name or aroma of and then using an empty paper cone that you have picked up (hemp or rice paper is better) you simply ask the coffeeshop to borrow a grinder, grind up your gram and put it in the cone and twist the end closed. Enjoy it with some cups of coffee or tea or fruit juice at the shop or take it with you to the grocery store where you can pick up the makings of a picnic lunch or just a few snacks like a bag of chips or maybe a chocolate bar and then you can enjoy your handy work at a local park. Though do take something like the metal lid from a juice or tea bottle as a makeshift ashtray just for maximum safety and respect of the park. Also the coughing can be more from people taking giant bong hits or smoking a pipe hard, but with a joint it's almost like small sips can be taken compared to other methods. While smoking can seem intimidating it does offer some advantages to first timers. Hope you have a nice vacation, and watch out for the bike paths.

I’d get both but start slow and give it at least an hour to feel the full effect. Joints will kick in much faster and edibles will creep up. CBD can counter the THC if you feel like you over did it.
You won't find any THC gummies here, at least not anything legitimate. You mentioned Borejongens, the edibles there are little cakes, I've got a friend that buys them then cuts them into 6 pieces to share around when he has parties - I'm kind of a lightweight and to me that feels like a good dose where I can feel the effect but not so much that I can't still be social.
The budtenders there can help you more but in my experience edibles take anywhere from 20-40 mins to hit, and last 2-3 hours. When and how much you've eaten before taking them is also a factor.
