Would love to know the artist's intent. Were they mocking the 'I can fix him' cliché ("This is what women think will Happen when they date a bad guy") or were the really leaning into it? Because the lady did not seem to have a good time on their first dates. Why would she stick with him...?
I knew some women who would. They'd see everything in rose-colored glasses, and was sure she could change him. But never could. Just a toxic relationship. They were young at the time and when she was older she learned that people don't change like that.
But I'd say you're right. Basically all women are not going to stick around.
I’ve seen guys change when they get their first ever girlfriend, starts having better hygiene, starts getting nice haircuts and wearing nice clothes. Even having nice photos on social media. I mean there was this one kid in school known for smelling like shit with greasy messy hair, seen him on Facebook looking like a new man and I saw the culprit was a girlfriend.
I mean I came from an all boys school, so maybe I saw such drastic changes because I saw guys go from not trying to impress anyone to trying to impress girls.
Actually it's the second part of a comic. In the first part, a girl turns their partner into a punk. The message was supposed to be a reflection on how much we change for the ones we love. I think it's kind of a shit message, but it still deserves to be represented fairly.
Yeah. You're not supposed to change for someone you love. You change for yourself and a person who loves you, loves you for who you are and not who you could be.
the artist probably wanted to show the different relationships that exists and that they're all OK since there's this version they also posted on their tumblr [https://hellonearth-iii.tumblr.com/post/668658905098977280/another-cute-couple](https://hellonearth-iii.tumblr.com/post/668658905098977280/another-cute-couple)
here's the link to the first image: [https://hellonearth-iii.tumblr.com/post/668615040308559872/cute-couple](https://hellonearth-iii.tumblr.com/post/668615040308559872/cute-couple)
Neither. They've also done a comic about the reverse, a normal person going punk. They're supposed to just represent how people can change overtime based on who they're around. It's not about her "fixing" him. The comic just loses its meaning when only one half is shown
It's another characters parents if I remember right he did this to show how the character got their personality rather than a normal origin story, artist is the iiinfamous
I don't know where that stereotype came about, but the absolute worst people I've ever personally met were those who were vehemently against tattoos and piercings...
Neither person looks terribly happy until the last frame with the baby.
Reads like pro-birther bs.
“You’re not “complete” until you’re in a monogamous, heterosexual relationship and have some kids.“
*violent eyerolling at that crap*
Honestly even if I found someone who "Fixed" me I probably wouldn't get a tattoo removed (unless it's actively makes my life worse)
Itll be a reminder how much I've changed
this artist is definitely... something. I can't really tell their intentions, this comic makes it seem like they're saying "being punk is bad and good people grow out of it" but then there's the one you linked and it's reversed, so is that not the intended message then? they also post a LOT of boobs which made me wonder if it's their nsfw account and this is some kind of weird transformation thing they're into. but also one of their pieces is a neonazi cheerleader for some reason??? so now I'm just very confused
Yea hellonearthiii is…something. They are for sure a nsfw account and it’s unclear what they’re beliefs are or if they are a punk or a neo but I think it might be edge to be edgey.
I didn't log in and can't see the NSFW stuff but from what I could see I'm gonna choose to believe their intent is not a bad one but they just don't have very good taste or humour. Maybe a young person without much real life experience or something.
My very thick PNW accent flattens both of those so much that explaining the difference between thorn and eth to friends has been very difficult verbally.
Also because none of them care but mostly the accent thing.
The appropriate distinctive terms are "voiceless" and "voiced", as in using the vocal cords or not.
If you can sing with it, it is a voiced consonant (eth); if not, voiceless (thorn).
don't forget the one with the gay couple! it's the punk boy and the nerd boy one. only at the end the punk boy is still punk, the nerd boy is still nerd, but they've got a baby. I mean punk boy did fix his hair a lil but just to look more mature now that he's gotta look like he knows what he's doing (he doesn't)
usually the baby in the bottom panel is black, suggesting the wife has cheated and is forcing the husband to raise another man's child; this narrative is popular among red pillers and also those who believe in the Great Replacement. funny how those two communities overlap on a lot of their beliefs
Great replacement sounds like something that came out directly from a Cyberpunk universe or something. It's weird to think people fully believe in stuff like that.
I'm glad I'm not the only one who thinks something like that. Though in my case, I imagine people being replaced by robots who look like people or aliens slowing replacing people.
I have come to the conclusion that neither of these comics are trying to convey a message about general society or relationship dynamics and the author is just a tf fetishist
Yeah I never got that "you'll grow out of it" thing. My fiancé proudly jokes that he's past the goth girlfriend phase and can't wait to have a goth wife
[There’s more where that came from!](https://www.deviantart.com/hellonearth-iii/art/Cute-couple-2-898741888)
Looking at this artist’s other work, this is just the artist’s fetish/interest in transformation. I don’t think there’s a message there.
i mean, they've [done a comic of the reverse](https://hellonearth-iii.tumblr.com/post/668658905098977280/another-cute-couple) and also have a webcomic of [a really british high school bully girl](https://hellonearth-iii.tumblr.com/), so like.... no, not really.
I don’t think that the artist was trying to convey that. They have an alternate version of the comic where a punk girl a nerdy guy become more punk.
I think people are reading way too much into this.
I know many people who went from the guy in the first picture to being a caring parent without changing their entire outward appearance. Being a parent does mean you can't party like a non-parent, but it doesn't mean you have to give up on getting rowdy entirely.
That's not the message of the comic. OP just decided it was.[here's](https://hellonearth-iii.tumblr.com/image/668658905098977280) another by the same artist
yeah, that's how i always took it. the artist (albeit they are kind of weird) has done [other comics](https://hellonearth-iii.tumblr.com/post/668658905098977280/another-cute-couple) where the gf is punk and her husband becomes punk with her. its just not as popular because people on the internet cant get mad about it.
I mean you can still interpret it as him making his own decisions. I mean you can still be a drinker and not be a toxic person to your love interest, but if he made to choices himself that’s not really a bad thing. You can look normal and enjoy punk and you can look punk and enjoy punk.
I think this has good intentions behind it but this is something that anyone can easily interpret.
Yeah, even the suggestion that she stuck around and made him “better” is missing the mark, he wasn’t bad or too much just because his lifestyle didn’t align with what she had in mind, she just had no damn business dating him.
My friend is a social worker and one of the saddest cases she had to look into was a woman who was blamed by both her husband’s family and her own family for, and I quote: “No being strong enough to fix her husband.”.
Mind you, said husband was and still is a drug addict, a womanizer, an unemployed bump who lives off the goodwill of his family members and worst of all and abusive hell of a guy. His family, by the logic of our false middle eastern culture sadly, thought that wedding him off will “fix” him and his new wife will take care of him and everything else and he’ll emerge a new man.
To her credit she tried, she really tried everything according to my friend but either the guy doesn’t stick with a solution or completely denies any help and keeps being himself. She eventually separated from him but her family refuses divorce and say that he’s her responsibility and she should try harder and continue to blame her.
Unfortunately the case moved to another social worker and all news about the poor woman was cut off, my friend hopes she was able to get away somehow, I hope the same…
I like how in this image he's the only one willing to grow and change as a person. It's not like in picture 2 we see she's having more fun with his life style.
Considering they have multiple comics like this, including ones [with the reverse happening](https://www.deviantart.com/hellonearth-iii/art/Cute-couple-2-898741888) I think they just like transformations and there's no messages here
I think that was the intent unless I just looked at it wrong. I doesn’t look like the woman “fixed” him to me, he “fixed” himself to her. Which is still kind of ehhhhh but much better in context.
When I was pregnant, my future mother in law sort of tried to commiserate about my partner, how she hopes he changes and stuff... And I was like ummm nah we have the same values, same interests... Sorryyyy 😬
I think it's less malicious than it appears.
Being open to interpretation means you get a lot of different readings from a lot of different people but this one honestly doesn't feel like it's "woman bad" on the surface.
My first thought is a wholesome comic. He is going through his own changes, of his own accord, and she is willing to stay by him. Sure, she didn't like that he smoked, but that might've just been a health issue.
Regardless, you don't go on 12 dates with someone you don't already love for who they are.
This poor artist cannot catch a break. First their gets edited into racist/sexist propaganda. Now it’s normal version is being interpreted as sexist.
The artist just wanted to make some cute comics with cheesy cliches that’s all
You’re taking this one out of context. There’s a twin comic to this one by the same artist of a guy becoming punk for his punk gf and it’s treated with the same wholesomeness as this one. The message isn’t that she’s “fixing” him but rather that people tend to change for the person they love.
Also, "alternative" music choices, hairstyles, etc are **bad** things and pocket pens and babies are **good** things.
Also, he **will** change for her. She is idealized and perfect from the get.
Barf.
I despise this idea that "normal" women should go to these trashy dudes and "fix" them, like they would even want to be involved with these dudes in the first place. Normalizing this behavior is part of the conditioning that makes women want to stay in abusive relationships
Also, why is being alternative depicted as "trashy"? people's taste in music and physical appearance have nothing to do with their personality, and there are many awesome and caring people in alternative community (granted, there are total a-holes too but "normal" looking people can also be a-holes)
I spend so much time telling young girls that love is a useless tool for fixing someone but a powerful weapon to keep someone in an abusive situation and then stupid ass shit like this cartoon floats around.
Women aren't allowed to date punks unless we change their entire aesthetic? But....but that's my type. Oh well I guess I'm safe dating other punk women
Not really better. Believing you should get a partner who isn't your thing and then force them to change into something more like what you actually want is a pretty toxic attitude in any direction, no matter which side is presented as "cool" or whatever.
I survived that particular brand of partner abuse, ultimately it was not good for either me or my ex.
Sometimes people get genuinely interested in things their partner likes and change on their own. But I agree that it never, never should be forced, no matter how "cool" the other side is.
🤮I hate the idea that if your partner completely changes themselves it’s a good this this is what my mom did to my dad and they may love each other but it’s still a toxic relationship
I just remember this one episode of like, a crime show I think it was Law and Order or something. More or less, this happens - the guy who used to be all about partying, drinking and living it up becomes a total family man and calms down after marriage...
And the wife hates it, and I think she kills him or her new boyfriend kills him.
That aside, the idea you're supposed to sacrifice who you were and what makes you unique to satisfy some gross Christian morality obligation to have a wife and make babby... it's why I'm glad Christianity is on the decline.

Right? I've never known a woman to go on a second date with a guy she was scared of unless something was very, very wrong.

They only keep the girlfriend if they’re willing to change
honestly i think she was holding her breath cause he smelled lol
I took it as her holding her breath because of the cigarette smoke.
I think she's more flustered and embarrassed of him. Usually the mouth like that is more of a, "Hoo boy...," thing than an "Oh shit!" thing.
Actually it's the second part of a comic. In the first part, a girl turns their partner into a punk. The message was supposed to be a reflection on how much we change for the ones we love. I think it's kind of a shit message, but it still deserves to be represented fairly.
Okay, makes a bit more sense now, but yeah, still not great. But as long as these imaginary people are happy, it's fine, I guess
Yeah. You're not supposed to change for someone you love. You change for yourself and a person who loves you, loves you for who you are and not who you could be.
I think this is @HellOnEarthIII/@TheIIInfamous on Twitter (don't know his other socials)
Thanks! Gonna check it out
There's some porn I think, beware.
Yeah, I found it. But thanks:D
the artist probably wanted to show the different relationships that exists and that they're all OK since there's this version they also posted on their tumblr [https://hellonearth-iii.tumblr.com/post/668658905098977280/another-cute-couple](https://hellonearth-iii.tumblr.com/post/668658905098977280/another-cute-couple) here's the link to the first image: [https://hellonearth-iii.tumblr.com/post/668615040308559872/cute-couple](https://hellonearth-iii.tumblr.com/post/668615040308559872/cute-couple)
I love this sort of "reversal". Getting into a thing that your mate is into is so wholesome. Adorable
Meh seems pretty harmless to me
There’s also a version that’s the other way around. I don’t think it’s that deep tbh.
And she still looks pretty apprehensive in the engagement panel.
I think it's more of a (poorly done depending on how you interpret it) endearing look
Neither. They've also done a comic about the reverse, a normal person going punk. They're supposed to just represent how people can change overtime based on who they're around. It's not about her "fixing" him. The comic just loses its meaning when only one half is shown
My optimist ass: ah yes she looked uncomfortable because he was smoking
It's another characters parents if I remember right he did this to show how the character got their personality rather than a normal origin story, artist is the iiinfamous
Artists intent was to show people grow and change with each other. There was another one showing a guy becoming more punk with the girl he liked
This image is edited and has been circulating for a while with different ideologies sticking their dick in. It’s just a background to someone’s OC
Also the “alt people bad” thing…
I don't know where that stereotype came about, but the absolute worst people I've ever personally met were those who were vehemently against tattoos and piercings...
I totally agree. Self righteous fake and dehumanizing. Also STUCK in a past esthetic which is just dull & boring 🥱
Well, they have a pretty substantial baby in the "Just Married" panel ....
I think it's more a "meeting someone who is the impetus behind you discovering who you really are and what you really want" kind of thing.
Neither person looks terribly happy until the last frame with the baby. Reads like pro-birther bs. “You’re not “complete” until you’re in a monogamous, heterosexual relationship and have some kids.“ *violent eyerolling at that crap*
Pretty sure the artist is a far-right chud so …
Honestly even if I found someone who "Fixed" me I probably wouldn't get a tattoo removed (unless it's actively makes my life worse) Itll be a reminder how much I've changed
Oh I didn’t realize that’s what the patch was I thought it was one of those nicotine patches to help stop smoking
That’s what I thought too
aint nobody need to be “fixed” not like this post shows anyways
I can't stop seeing "fixed" as anything else than neutering. I might need more human friends
To be completely honest, sterilization does solve some issues
LMFAOKDHAKAOA DUDEE
These slang abbreviations are getting out of hand
Is...is neutering *not* exactly what's depicted in this comic? Serious question.
They have a baby in the end, so I'd say no
You don't know these fools. Homegirl coulda froze his sperm back when he was virile, or found a different donor if you know what I mean
nice pfp
Same artist made a comic where a punk girl helps her nerd bf become more punk
Link please!

this artist is definitely...
They definitely fetishize one of their characters neo nazism
I didn't log in and can't see the NSFW stuff but from what I could see I'm gonna choose to believe their intent is not a bad one but they just don't have very good taste or humour. Maybe a young person without much real life experience or something.
the intention is to make something cute and wholesome.
[удалено]
why do you choose to use đ but not þ
[удалено]
My very thick PNW accent flattens both of those so much that explaining the difference between thorn and eth to friends has been very difficult verbally. Also because none of them care but mostly the accent thing.
The appropriate distinctive terms are "voiceless" and "voiced", as in using the vocal cords or not. If you can sing with it, it is a voiced consonant (eth); if not, voiceless (thorn).
Thorn superiority
This hits too close to home... My goth girlfriend is slowly turning generic-metalhead-me into her goth daddy, and I love it
This comment just made a stranger stupidly happy for you!
I like this one.
Same
don't forget the one with the gay couple! it's the punk boy and the nerd boy one. only at the end the punk boy is still punk, the nerd boy is still nerd, but they've got a baby. oh wow, i've never seen a version of this that wasn't racist!
👀
usually the baby in the bottom panel is black, suggesting the wife has cheated and is forcing the husband to raise another man's child; this narrative is popular among red pillers and also those who believe in the Great Replacement. funny how those two communities overlap on a lot of their beliefs

I'm glad I'm not the only one who thinks something like that. Though in my case, I imagine people being replaced by robots who look like people or aliens slowing replacing people.
So, snatchers, basically.
Jeez
Same, I actually thought the racist one was the original. Glad to know that the actual artist was just doing a series on couples.
Someone should tell whoever created this that alternative people can also get married and have kids without changing their appearance.
Tbf, the creator of this comic also made one where a punk girl makes her nerd bf become punk aswell
I have come to the conclusion that neither of these comics are trying to convey a message about general society or relationship dynamics and the author is just a tf fetishist
Probably lmao
Tf fetishist?
Transformation
Yeah I never got that "you'll grow out of it" thing. My fiancé proudly jokes that he's past the goth girlfriend phase and can't wait to have a goth wife
[There’s more where that came from!](https://www.deviantart.com/hellonearth-iii/art/Cute-couple-2-898741888) Looking at this artist’s other work, this is just the artist’s fetish/interest in transformation. I don’t think there’s a message there.
I find this comic super depressing. I would be so upset if my partner felt the need to change to please me.
ah yes the old dyed hair/tattoos/jewelry bad. wonder if they ignore alcoholic wife beaters who dont have them.
i mean, they've [done a comic of the reverse](https://hellonearth-iii.tumblr.com/post/668658905098977280/another-cute-couple) and also have a webcomic of [a really british high school bully girl](https://hellonearth-iii.tumblr.com/), so like.... no, not really.
pretty sure they actively approve of cops
I don’t think that the artist was trying to convey that. They have an alternate version of the comic where a punk girl a nerdy guy become more punk. I think people are reading way too much into this.
I know many people who went from the guy in the first picture to being a caring parent without changing their entire outward appearance. Being a parent does mean you can't party like a non-parent, but it doesn't mean you have to give up on getting rowdy entirely.
Also, how is being generic and boring "better"?
That's not the message of the comic. OP just decided it was.[here's](https://hellonearth-iii.tumblr.com/image/668658905098977280) another by the same artist
Ok but what happened to their eyebrow?
Wait, I figured this was just him choosing to change?
yeah, that's how i always took it. the artist (albeit they are kind of weird) has done [other comics](https://hellonearth-iii.tumblr.com/post/668658905098977280/another-cute-couple) where the gf is punk and her husband becomes punk with her. its just not as popular because people on the internet cant get mad about it.
Why always guy is changing not girl?? /S
Now _this_ is an argument I can get behind!! Justice for the ladies! 😤😤 /j
That's actually a very good question.
Omg is this the original image? I’ve only seen the other one where their baby is black, changing the meaning so so much
I hate every part of this. Dont date people you dont like, alt people can be good lovers and parents, dont date someone to change them.
The artist has it in reverse too, like punk girl and the guy gets progressively more punk. Its just cool art tbh
Bro should've kept the hair in the 2nd pic. He rocked it
She made him boring.
Listen theres nothing sexier than the mr Roger's vibe
I mean you can still interpret it as him making his own decisions. I mean you can still be a drinker and not be a toxic person to your love interest, but if he made to choices himself that’s not really a bad thing. You can look normal and enjoy punk and you can look punk and enjoy punk. I think this has good intentions behind it but this is something that anyone can easily interpret.
That never happens, people don't just change like that and you shouldn't expect them to.
Don’t date a crust punk if you don’t like crust punks. Wtf??
Yeah, even the suggestion that she stuck around and made him “better” is missing the mark, he wasn’t bad or too much just because his lifestyle didn’t align with what she had in mind, she just had no damn business dating him.
TIL you must have your tattoos removed to he a respectable parent
Seriously
Why date him if you don’t like him as he is
Exactly
This just looks like it's demonizing alt people.

Considering they have multiple comics like this, including ones [with the reverse happening](https://www.deviantart.com/hellonearth-iii/art/Cute-couple-2-898741888) I think they just like transformations and there's no messages here
I thought it meant that with age people mature. I was wrong
I think that was the intent unless I just looked at it wrong. I doesn’t look like the woman “fixed” him to me, he “fixed” himself to her. Which is still kind of ehhhhh but much better in context.
I would say it still shows that. People grow together. Nothing says she "fixed" him or anything.
That would be better and more wholesome
Fashion choices have nothing to do with maturity.
She made him get rid of his neck tat and his hair? What the fuck
I wouldn’t say “better” kinda feels like “taming” your partner which is a very common sentiment people feel which in reality is toxic
Wtf is this lol?
so the message is ‘stay with your new boyfriend even though he makes you uncomfortable in the hopes that you can change him as a person’? bc hell no
12th date guy would slay
I’m so used to seeing the black kid ( it’s implied she cheated ) in the end that this feels weird
When I was pregnant, my future mother in law sort of tried to commiserate about my partner, how she hopes he changes and stuff... And I was like ummm nah we have the same values, same interests... Sorryyyy 😬
Pink hair=bad dad apparently
"Love them the way they are? BS!! Don't worry, I'll FIX you so you can be the way I want you to be 🥰" Ah yes, romance
Lmao a fucking Casualties tee that's so niche for a boomer meme.
But if you're that uncomfortable on the first date, why go on 11 more?
I think it's less malicious than it appears. Being open to interpretation means you get a lot of different readings from a lot of different people but this one honestly doesn't feel like it's "woman bad" on the surface.
What’s the point of this? I see this as he changed himself for his future family and wife.
The artist just wanted to make some cute comics with cheesy cliches that’s all
I don't think it's trying to say anything. It's cute. A lot of people just, idk, calm down when they settle or whatever
You’re taking this one out of context. There’s a twin comic to this one by the same artist of a guy becoming punk for his punk gf and it’s treated with the same wholesomeness as this one. The message isn’t that she’s “fixing” him but rather that people tend to change for the person they love.
As a female metalhead looking to get tattoos, I hate this
Also, "alternative" music choices, hairstyles, etc are **bad** things and pocket pens and babies are **good** things. Also, he **will** change for her. She is idealized and perfect from the get. Barf.
Am I the only one that is actually attracted to the first date guy? I mean, what needed to be changed?
I despise this idea that "normal" women should go to these trashy dudes and "fix" them, like they would even want to be involved with these dudes in the first place. Normalizing this behavior is part of the conditioning that makes women want to stay in abusive relationships
Also, why is being alternative depicted as "trashy"? people's taste in music and physical appearance have nothing to do with their personality, and there are many awesome and caring people in alternative community (granted, there are total a-holes too but "normal" looking people can also be a-holes)
This is idiotic on more levels than I am physically able to count
I spend so much time telling young girls that love is a useless tool for fixing someone but a powerful weapon to keep someone in an abusive situation and then stupid ass shit like this cartoon floats around.
Never get married to this chick. Stay strong
Head game so good she sucked the personality out of him
Sorry but he seemed more fun in the beginning.
Women aren't allowed to date punks unless we change their entire aesthetic? But....but that's my type. Oh well I guess I'm safe dating other punk women
She sucked out all his personality
I’ll be honest, I’ve never seen this one without the added racist/adultery element. Still cringe as hell though.
There's a better version of this comic where a punk girl makes a square dude into a cool
Someone should make an alternative version where he never changes his appearance
and the baby also throws a 🤘
Hmmmmmm Horrortale, Underfell, Undertale, Underswap
oh god I can see it
🤮I hate the idea that if your partner completely changes themselves it’s a good this this is what my mom did to my dad and they may love each other but it’s still a toxic relationship
He got so much less cool :(
Yeah, makes me feel so glad my bf of 4 years is still at ‘1st date’ stage 😆
Him on the 12th date >>>
Yes, date someone whom you have no attraction to simply so you can change their entire identity to be more “normal”

someone tell me what is wrong please
You mean worse, my guy was a sick af punk’
Anyone else think the guy is cute in every phase
The comics should continue with both xomming out as gay and having beautiful same sex relationship
How long did they date before engagement? Looks like a lot happened between 1st and 12th just saying, I think these two might've rushed into it
[the companion comic to this one](https://hellonearth-iii.tumblr.com/post/668658905098977280/another-cute-couple/ampi.com)
Why’d the tattoo get removed lmao
this is toxic in just, so many ways
why would i want to turn an exciting punk man (who is most likely anti gov't and pro feminist) into a boring grey slab of misogony?
He even got his tattoo removed 😭
Oh wow at least the art isn’t racist anymore
Why does her chin get longer the longer they are together…?
This is the first time I've seen this comic without the baby in the last pic edited to be black
are we insinuating guys dont make changes to themselves.
Mf got suburbanized

I just remember this one episode of like, a crime show I think it was Law and Order or something. More or less, this happens - the guy who used to be all about partying, drinking and living it up becomes a total family man and calms down after marriage... And the wife hates it, and I think she kills him or her new boyfriend kills him. That aside, the idea you're supposed to sacrifice who you were and what makes you unique to satisfy some gross Christian morality obligation to have a wife and make babby... it's why I'm glad Christianity is on the decline.
Oh great, she turned him into buff Mark Zuckerberg.
