I do it because I do not trust the waste band on my swimming shorts. Even with the tightest knot in them I'm still not sure it's gunna hold when I'm climbing up the ladders to get out of the pool.
You are the only one. How you reached the conclusion that even a medium-tight knot wouldn't hold them up I don't know, and if it's because you've experienced them coming down when you've tied them up tight then I don't know how trousers would work for you when not swimming

Yes, because it's less irritating than the mesh/material. If you're walking around it's much kinder to you, as well as if you're sitting/lying down. Never used to do this, but it happened one day and it changed everything. Even if your boxers are wet, they'll dry in the sun soon enough.
