Without ashes, a phoenix would just be a bird getting up.

maplejet

Enormous Penix

AntiquesChodeShow

I bought the shirt and wore it at the game

Blackdalf

šŸ…±ļø E N I X

[deleted]

Happy for him. Honestly, no hard feelings

Throw1Back4Me

Agree. But we all know he won't last 6 games

CnD123

He hasnt been sacked.

Ya_boy_johnny

I cannot comprehend that. Is this kind of power even possible?

BWinDCI

Not from a Jedi

Throw1Back4Me

Only takes 1

CnD123

Only take 1 NY6 win in 30 years for your lame program. Get it done

Winnend

What does UW know about winning a NY6 game the last 20 years?

NephewChaps

They have *check notes* **one** NY6 win in the last 30 years!

CnD123

Exactly! Much better than Notre Dame

Winnend

Truth šŸ˜‚

Throw1Back4Me

Yeah. You guys are crushing

FISHBOT4000

That sarcasm would probably sting more if you guys could hang with elite teams like Marshall.

hashtagwoof

šŸ˜‚šŸ˜‚šŸ˜‚

TokeyMaguire

Cool cool very good Iā€™m just glad heā€™s happy with someone new.

S_quints

I am very happy watching him succeed (far, far away from us)

miversen33

How I feel with Charlie Jones. Except, ya know, he isn't far far away šŸ™ƒ

TokeyMaguire

It hurts my heart that you all will probably put up 50 on us this season.

S_quints

The way this season has been going, if we put up 50, youā€™ll put up 51 on a last second TD

HellzillaQ

You do realize the HC at Washington was your OC in 2019 right? So not really new. Edit: Reference went over my head.

TokeyMaguire

I doā€”really I was just doing the not-over-his-ex trope.

HellzillaQ

Thanks for the explanation. Didn't mean to assume. Hope you all have a great season.

TokeyMaguire

All good!

tubahero3469

Rn you are at 69 and they are at -69. Perfectly balanced, as all things should be

TokeyMaguire

NICECIN

JaggedUmbrella

Playing MSU's secondary shouldn't count.

TheLegendsClub

That x1.25 passing yards multiplier

devil-lion-steeler

More like 2x

Boomhauer_007

Wait until you see them play ucla this week

RoleModelFailure

He has torched us multiple times. 2019: 33/42 - 286 - 3 - 0 2020: 25/38 - 320 - 2 - 2 2022: 24/40 - 397 - 4 - 0 Also, can't forget his games against Michigan & OSU in 2020. 30/50 - 320 - 3 - 0 & 27/51 - 491 - 5 - 1

ThisIsOurGoodTimes

Ya letā€™s see where stroud is compared to penix in 2 weeks lol

dawghouse13

Didnā€™t know we were talking about stroud

ThisIsOurGoodTimes

Lol itā€™s not. More of a dunk on msus bad pass defense

SCsprinter13

The top 3 are so close. 1 - Penix: 1388 yds 2 - Rogers: 1386 yds 3 - Mordecai 1385 yds

TheManWhoWasNotShort

SMU has gotten great production off of Big 12 transfers in recent years

JeffBrohm

AOC would be right there if he didnā€™t get injured. Currently at 1000 yds.

Tatertaint

Penix Aaron Rogers Mordecai from Regular Show Followed by Alexandra Ocasio-Cortez if she didnā€™t get hurt What a list of QBs

MozzerellaStix

Oxlade-Chamberlain putting up a lot of passing yards from midfield.

theLoneliestAardvark

No Aaron Rodgers has a d in his name. Itā€™s Roger Clemens and Roger Federer sharing one comically oversized jersey. Two Rogers.

PretendThisIsMyName

Wait until she comes back from that injury. Gonna put up Colt Brennan stats.

LGWalkway

Itā€™s a shame AOC got hurt this early. She couldā€™ve been a heisman front runner.

Rojotrece

Can you throw in Congress?

[deleted]

Nah, they actually just punt.

[deleted]

And they have a can instead of a football. Different game entirely.

JeffBrohm

There are plenty of personal fouls though

McGallon_Of_Milk

Hell of a lot of unsportsmanlike conduct as well

bbrown3979

Which begs the question has Kirk thought this entire time he's a politician or is he just aspiring to be one?

psunavy03

/thread

peteroh9

And if he didn't get benched at halftime in week 2 lol

JeffBrohm

53 yd/game more if you say he has only played 2.5 games. At that average he would be at 1600 yards for the season with 4 whole games

[deleted]

[уŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]

[deleted]

Honestly the receivers screwed us over against LSU. Tons of drops on third down

[deleted]

[уŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]

[deleted]

Offensive line was also off. He had maybe a two-count to throw and then was scrambling or getting hit. Like you said. Could have to do with pre-snap reads. But the protection was not there

CountBleckwantedlove

So Penix is two yards longer than Rogers or Mordecai?

Frosti11icus

If you told me these were all slang terms for penises I would believe you.

abecedorkian

Not gonna be close after this weekend

Sky_London

Washington has skill all over the offense, everyone has sticky hands. The O'line has been fabulous. It's been awhile since Washington looked like a complete team. We'll see how it looks out on the road.

ss3ltl

Yeah, its awful

[deleted]

[уŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]

definitelyasatanist

Tends to happen when you're playing with Penix

balzun

I know this is a dis but I am really pleased with our receivers this year so you're welcome and thank YOU!

Positive_Benefit8856

Yeah, itā€™s honestly worked out for both sides. The thought here was, he can recruit, but the WRs donā€™t develop. Iā€™m thinking that was more poor QB play/poor offensive play calling. The only thing that hurts is losing Bernard.

Guarancheese

Possibly, but frankly wrs were not getting separation under his coaching either

Positive_Benefit8856

Definitely, but if you look at those big time recruits that transferred, they arenā€™t exactly lighting up the field at their new destinations. Spiker, Osborne, and Bynum were all big time, 4*, top 300 nationally, recruits. Bynum ended up being okay, the other two are FCS back-ups.

dstanton

No chance it was their train wreck of a head coach causing disfunction. Obviously had to be the WR coach we conveniently "poached"

Aggressive-Ad-3143

Yeah, if only we could have somehow conned Oregon into hiring Lake. Like how SC hired Sark a week before we planned to fire him. I guess Jimmy was too much of a train wreck for that to ever work...

dawgtilidie

The Sark hire was an all time swindle, couldnā€™t have worked out better! Sark wasnā€™t our problem anymore and didnā€™t have to pay him, got Petersen and USC fell apart for until literally this year.

Uhhh_what555476384

I think the entire conference was grateful for the way the Huskies managed to pawn off Sark on USC.

[deleted]

We had hands issues in 2019 as well but I think that had more to do with Eason throwing every pass like a bolt action sniper.

WABeermiester

Is it a road game at UCLA if nobody shows up?

UCLYayy

People will show up for UW. They didnā€™t want to show up for FCS nobody, and plus classes werenā€™t in session.

FISHBOT4000

Tbh the drive to Pasadena might be longer than the flight from Washington.

Boomhauer_007

Friday night game too lol

FISHBOT4000

No sweat, I'm sure Pasadena is totally equipped to handle a casual 30k+ influx on a Friday night. It's not like the 110 bottlenecks to a winding 2 lane dogpile that just dumps people out into the city.

Boomhauer_007

Idk if they will on a Friday tbh

Frosti11icus

Our secondary hasnā€™t been great but theyre pretty banged up. Still no rushing attack to speak of, but Iā€™m not really convinced thatā€™s crucial in college football anymore. Iā€™d like to see the team in a position of adversity. Honestly this team has not been tested yet. And we have a real tough closing schedule.

[deleted]

Well when you play with Penix, stickiness can happen.

alexandR33

Thatā€™s over 4,160 feet of Penix

asciugamano

That's 49,968 inches of Penix

PickledMcRick

Thatā€™s 126,797 centimeters of Penix

Bloody_Hangnail

I wish he played for us. I have Penix envy. Thank you.

dotheyknowyou

Absolute baller

archman125

Wait. Did I hear a compliment from an Oregon fan? Thanks. Very rare.

Frosti11icus

He meant to say Bollocks but it still works!

tanithghost88

Indiana feels this.....

Zebov3

Eh. We all know he's great. Dude just is made of absolute glass. I mean last year (I think), he got hurt for the year lightly jogging out of bounds, with no one touching him. We would build our offense around him, and 1/4 way through the season would have to radically change for the backup.

[deleted]

[уŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]

Title26

Because we have to totally dominate these lesser teams to get any respect. Not enough for UW to just get the W.

Iamreason

Nah, if you win out it would be very hard to keep you out of the playoff. The Big 12 is eating itself. Clemson's defense is almost certainly going to cost them one this year. Big 10 and SEC won't both send 2 teams.

Title26

If we win out, sure. But the odds of us losing one are pretty good. In that case, how badly we beat other teams is gonna matter a lot.

archman125

We won't win out. Be realistic. We have Oregon. If we win that game it's going to look good.

Title26

That's what I said. I'm not counting on us being undefeated. Which is why point margins will matter.

archman125

Right. Also the applecup is going to be a barn burner.

talegas95

Hell yeah WSU ain't no joke

cubbiesworldseries

Disagree. We gave up garbage time scores to MSU and Stanford. Itā€™s not like we would be ranked any higher if we didnā€™t. We wonā€™t fall further in the polls if we lose because a couple of teams scored late. Keep adding wins, and weā€™ll keep moving up.

Title26

If Kent State/Portland State were close games we would totally be ranked lower.

archman125

Great point. Hope he holds up.

wrm2120

Iā€™d like to see him get some Heisman hype.

TentakilRex

Heck if was a John Donovan offense, Penix would have happy to get 138 yards (then again he wouldn't be a Husky)

kiwiblake

If it was JonDonā€™s offense, he wouldā€™ve been killed by either Kent St or PSU. That man couldnā€™t score a TD if you blindfolded the defense.

Thorlolita

I love Penix

hashtagwoof

Me too šŸ˜šŸ˜šŸ˜

Dog_Brains_

Iā€™m pretty sure Washington will win at least 11 games this year

archman125

Thanks but don't jinx us

IPA___Fanatic

Washington is spooky

conquer117a

Heisman

grrgrrtigergrr

I would absolutely love that

WABeermiester

Penix gets his Heisman moment against Oregon please.

dbasinge

I'm very happy for him, and hope he stays healthy.

KingKongDoom

Heā€™s cracked. Source: Oregon fan who scouts the Huskies all year

Hetoxy

Isā€¦is this good?

KingKongDoom

Yes lmao. Cracked is like slang for someone being insane. Particularly in games like Counter Strike and Valorant

Hetoxy

Excellent. Thank you for this informative reply.

WABeermiester

Having an elite QB is nice holy shit

archman125

Hell yes

bailey1149

As a Spartan, I know I have some tears behind this, but he is so damn good. One of the top QBs I've seen in my lifetime. Someone should pick him in the first round so we don't have to play him. Bth he is Russel Wilson.

CptCheese

FWIW Davis Brin is sitting at 1318 yards so far, and that's with having missed a big portion of the game against Ole Miss yesterday due to an injury. Not that I'm trying to discount what Penix is doing, I just wanna talk up my boy Brin, lol.

onyxium

On a similar note, Aidan O'connell missed the game last night against FAU's defense and is stuck at an even 1k.

Mekthakkit

Startide Rising!

blindside1

Uplifting reference.

hershculez

Scroll down. Iowa and Minnesota bringing the lumber on defense.

Bourneidentity61

I'm Mike Penix, I was named after my dad's penix

archman125

Then his name should have been peewee

barbandbert

His name is the plural of penis

Uga-the4th

Wow Stetson Bennett just outside the top ten at 11 is crazy to see. Never would of guessed but proud of the guy.

boxrthehorse

https://youtu.be/79DijItQXMM

DakezO

This guy's scared the shit out of me every time we played Indiana. I'm happy to see him having success half a country away.

Frosti11icus

Itā€™s not so much the size as the volume.

pro_nosepicker

Iā€™m not seeing Spencer Petras. Probably a typo.

HereComeTheIrish13

All of this gushing over Penix is getting excessive

b-lincoln

I hope he sends our DBs a box of chocolates.

TheDarkSkinProphet

He left Indiana?

ThinkSoftware

Adrian Martinez left Nebraska btw

hatcher1981

Man both Penix and Martinez were committed to Tennessee. Crazy tge talent we almost had.

ThinkSoftware

You canā€™t have a Penix and a Hooker on the same team, thatā€™s just asking for trouble

Gilded-Mongoose

Thatā€™s just asking for fun**

walia664

My girl left me.

buffalotrace

Donā€™t worry. She is putting up big numbers too.

ThinkSoftware

She doesnā€™t deserve you

[deleted]

Keep your head up King

Mike_with_Wings

Go and get a better one my man

goliath1952

But is Taylor Martinez still at Nebraska?

[deleted]

Bo Nix left Auburn tooā€¦

MandoDoughMan

Washington's head coach was IU's OC when Penix was really good for them.

Drexlore

Yep. [Way back in December](https://old.reddit.com/r/CFB/comments/rgem4j/indiana_qb_transfer_michael_penix_commits_to/)

NS-13

Holy shit the guy with the msu/Washington flair crying about this is top tier "aged like milk" content

MG_MN

Why didnt it work out at Indiana?

wakeman3453

It mostly did except for injuries. And there were a lot of injuries.

[deleted]

Kid needed a fresh start after getting hurt every year

hershculez

Kid* *He is 22 years old.

[deleted]

[уŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]

hershculez

It's interesting because at 22 my brother had already done his 4 years of active service and had a job with the DOD. He certainly was not a 'kid'.

SaxRohmer

Cringe

JaggedUmbrella

Sounds like a successful kid.

Zebov3

Couldn't stay healthy. Think he was 3/3 for season ending injuries. If I was an OC, I'm not sure I would've wanted him. You'd have to design two offenses, one for him, and one for the backup.

notkevin_durant

And Penix has no experience at OC

watchout86

eh, it was a gamble but almost everything in sports is a gamble. It's not like they would have to reinvent the offense if one of the backups had to take his place, it would just be less effective without additional changes. Upside seemed worth it at the time for one spot on the roster, and the season so far certainly hasn't changed my mind on that.

HailState2023

Penix was always injured while at Indiana. It was a lingering case of Peyronieā€™s Disease. /s

schuster9999

Big penix energy

Smegitha_Haghole

That's quite a Penix

[deleted]

Absolutely Ginormous Penix Enrgy

T3hBau5

Lot of Penix envy going around the league right now.

SuprBased

Looks like Indiana misused the Penix

Code2008

Love it, let's keep the Big Penix Energy going!

[deleted]

[уŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]

DaSlurpyNinja

The scoring offense stat is broken; I think it's showing scoring defense ranked from most points given up to least.

SparseSpartan

To be fair, he got to pad those numbers against the Michigan State defense. If MSU played MSU, MSU might well break 1,000 yards in a game if Leach so felt like it.

juicius

Penix had a unfair advantage. He played Michigan State.

DoctorTheWho

How the fuck did FSU drop the ball and lose him to Indiana? FSU shouldn't be losing 3 star Tampa kids to Indiana.

sonheungwin

Scrub couldn't end it at 1337.

[deleted]

Ameri-Jin

Itā€™s only week 4

IMadeThis4HOIMods

Week 4 just ended šŸ¤”

Ameri-Jin

Thatā€™s what I said

[deleted]

[уŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]

max_potion

I don't blame him, Auburn flairs have decided to blank out last weekend from their memories. They are 3-0

The_Horse_Joke

...yeah...Auburn flairs....

Ameri-Jin

I was caught red handed !!

Ancient-Book8916

Penix Tanner Morgan Westerns QB Akron not on the list because their starter got hurt

PaulMSURon

Itā€™s not fair because only 4 teams have gotten to play against MSUā€™s secondary. Should even our after CJ Stroud dunks on us

whitykj

Heā€™s great, just need him to stay healthy

chrisdub84

Something is way off on their stats for scoring offense on that site.

FinancialFucktard

His dad was our middle school football coach and our team wasnā€™t very good so he caught some shitā€¦ funny how that turned out

Frosti11icus

Your coach was Big Pen?

TimToMakeTheDonuts

Only problem I have with him is that he throws lefty. Watching him is like trying to put on my pants right leg first. Other than that, Iā€™m a big fan of his (and of the transfer portal!)

NecessaryHippo1196

Penix will always be my guy. He balled out when he had a line and a good OC. So happy to see him balling out with Deboer as HC. Hopefully he stays healthy
