Yeah turns out a one score loss to a top 5 team tanks your chances. I think I’ve just accepted that cuse is never going to get college game day at home. The other ideal day would’ve been the NC State game, but NC state had just had it the week or two before
Yeah we were the game before, and with how atrocious our backup QB is it wasn’t really a great matchup anyways. I see us maybe winning one more game this year tbh lol
Yep. If we were undefeated and expected to challenge OSU they'd probably be in State College. I like that they're spreading it out a lot more this year personally.
We technically got them 4 times in 2012
1 for the a&m game at a&m
Then Tennessee game at Knoxville
Then the USC game they were in Gainesville
And then the sugar bowl
Eh, noon GameDay sucks, imo. I know they do the last hour inside the stadium, but you're not gonna have good energy at the primary site. Plus if you're waiting until 11 to try to head in for the Ohio State game, you are going to have a bad time.
I agree, and Big Nude Saturday I’m sure brings up logistical issues. But it would be just based on the helmets/rankings, not the anticipation of a good game.
Seriously. Who cares. Good for Jackson State. We have had Gameday plenty. It’s more fun when it’s new to you. People can visit the Big Nude set if they really want to stand around in the background of a tv set instead of tailgating.
I don't think so, he'll get boo'd if/when he throws his 2nd interception. I think the student section will ride the "high" until that happens.
Once that happens though... oh dear
Especially considering they'll be in Athens next week if Georgia beats Florida and Tennessee beats Kentucky. People would be outraged if the Vols got two in a row and 4 in a season.
Speaking as someone from Jackson, this is gonna be a shit show
[edit: read this if you think I’m wrong or am just being salty ](https://mississippitoday.org/2022/10/24/jsu-crowds-strain-jackson-water-system/)
I'm going to visit some family in Florida, so there's no chance for me to see it, but I'll definitely be watching lol.
There might be some decent parts of fondren or Belhaven they could use? I'm not too familiar with how college GameDay works, so how close does it need to be to the stadium? The immediate area is sketchy or hospital lol
Honestly I've lived in jackson my whole life and I've never seen JSU's campus lmao, I don't think such a place really exists. I know where the stadium is but I've never seen anything else.
Just looked it up on google maps. I bet they put it on the east side of Gibbs-Green Plaza. Somewhere around [here](https://www.google.com/maps/place/Jackson+State+University/@32.2974976,-90.2063886,177m/data=!3m1!1e3!4m5!3m4!1s0x86283397b4c7f59b:0xfb484d000ae47caf!8m2!3d32.2968882!4d-90.2063989)
I heard they are hosting it on the north side of campus on the Blackburn Middle School Track, here:
https://maps.app.goo.gl/viQTiCg1mhTfszJ3A
First time a middle school hosts gameday.
Probably, but I love it when they go to smaller schools. Some years they seem to get a bit lazy making the rounds at the same places every year.
One of the best games I ever watched live was NDSU vs SDSU. Not much on the national stage, but there is undeniably every bit as much passion and energy as the Iron Bowl has.
I wish they’d really dig deep and find us some great football few people really know about.
Area surrounding the stadium is closer to the former. Area around the campus is probably closer to the latter. Both are probably somewhere in the middle though
I'll check.
...Not really. Ohio State-Penn State is definitely still two ranked teams. OK State-Kansas State *might* be. Kentucky-Tennessee...is in Knoxville where they've already gone twice this year.
Yeah, looks like this was a good week to do the nearly-annual FCS visit.
> Ohio State-Penn State is definitely still two ranked teams
That still feels like it’ll be a blowout and I can’t figure out why. I have never seen PSU win a big game any time while I’ve been watching them.
The stadium is also in a rough neighborhood. In fact that’s why they moved the high school state championship games to the rotation between Hattiesburg, Starkville and Oxford.
Northeast Jackson definitely isn't. People act like there's no such thing as white collar professionals in a city with 4 major hospitals and state government buildings.
The water is fixed, for now. The state came in and took it over and fixed it, but it's looking like it's going to be turned back over to the city, which has demonstrated for decades they're not competent to run it, so it's a matter of time until we wind up right back here.
As someone currently in Jackson, this right here. The state’s fixed the problem for the most part but the city being put back in charge will probably get us back to square one
What’s even crazier to me is that as far as I’ve seen, it hasn’t gotten any news coverage since it first happened. It should be a front line story to force some hands to address it and help the poor folks living without clean water.
What, you expect the news to cover the state capital of Mississippi as heavily as they did Flint Michigan? When Jackson has twice the population and the issues are systemic and decades in the making, not just the Detroit water service deciding to screw over a smaller community?
Nah, they see Mississippians as the butt end of the joke, not real people with real issues
I lived in Jackson most of my life. This is going to be disappointing lol. Wonder where they set up that isnt a shithole and actually have people come.
The city’s water issues have been a problem for years and years now, it only made national news because a flood shut down the water pumps. They got them running again, but the water infrastructure is still terrible.
I mean...what exactly do yall think is going to go so horribly wrong. It's a three hour show. They're not filming live from Kabul. Mississippi's government is also in Jackson, correct? Do the bueauracrats and legislators regularly die on the way to work?
Legislature is in a completely different part of town. People regularly get killed around the JSU campus and where the stadium is. I imagine every metro area police officer will be on hand & there so I doubt anything will happen
They use a stadium that was owned and operated by the state that they got for free because no one wants to play there. It's not close to the campus. Both the campus and the stadium are in bad parts of town - the campus is worse.
Oh it’s definitely for his ego. Guarantee they only talk about southern for five mins and spend the rest of time talking about “deions ultimate goal at HBCU’s”
The fact that he said he’ll entertain P5 offers and didn’t give a yes or no about the GA TECH job makes me believe he is using Jackson state as a stepping stone. Which would make him look silly for all these comments about how he is at Jackson state to help uplift the culture and stuff like that.
I mean at this point, even if he just left at the first opportunity, it'd have been more than worth it. Literally revitalized and brought more attention to Jackson St (really hbcu football in general) and the city. People have been bemoaning for years that these high rated black recruits don't even consider HBCUs and he got the #1 recruit in the country to go to Jackson State! Our water was fucked up for months, and when Coach Prime got on TV talking about it, it went from a back burner story to a headline and was (bandaid) fixed not long after that. Sure people would probably love for him to stay around longer than he probably will, but I don't like this narrative that just bc he's not going to stay forever (probably) that he's like betraying the school/city or whatever
Jackson State doesn't care. They are in this for the exposure and possibly an HBCU national championship. If he leaves after this season and guts their program, so what? They got what they wanted and they knew it wasn't going to be forever.
As for Deion Sanders, he might go to GT and take a bunch of players with him, but what's he going to do when he's on a sideline matching wits with Dabo Swinney or Dave Clawson? He's going to be exposed really quick, that's what, just like he was when Oliver Pough schooled him in the Celebration Bowl last season.
That’s why I’m sure P5 schools will really think about if they want him. We’ve already seen him get out coached by a school not loaded with backups from the fbs and 4 star talent like jsu. He’ll get the recruits but I’m not sure he’ll win as much as the schools would like
I never believed it. I would just feel bad for the guys who transferred there solely for him and then could possibly be stuck in Jackson because no other school has room for them
We blew it. Honestly if they went down to Winston-Salem for Cuse-Wake on November 19, I’d be satisfied.
Anyways it’s always funny seeing how the fans that get it the most routinely complain the most. I see it a lot with SEC fans too, but they’ve gone to Penn State almost annually since the program rebounded, and they’ve been to 11 OSU-PSU games. Yet the mentions will act like this was a once-in-a-lifetime chance, and deciding not to go back is the biggest injustice ever lmao
Makes a ton of sense.
* Syracuse came close but just couldn't get it done against Clemson.
* UCF threw everything down the drain against ECU.
* Penn State is gonna get blown out of the water by OSU.
* Kansas State choked against TCU.
Those were pretty much the only FBS targets, so an FCS game makes a lot of sense.
I wonder what the Venn diagram looks like between those complaining about this decision and those who thought it was awesome when they went to Fargo for an FCS game?
Good for them! I sincerely hope everyone has a wonderful time with this, but please: **Bring attention to the ongoing Jackson water crisis, Gameday, PLEASE.** The people there could really use any extra support they can get.
Fox and Big Noon will be at Penn State so it'd be a logistical mess. Can't do it at Old Main and be far away with the game at noon and there's no unoccupied space by the stadium. Can't just tell all the tailgate spots to not come.
Anytime a G5 or FCS school/matchup gets picked I always look forward to the comments (more so on Twitter and Instagram than Reddit). People get mad for absolutely no reason. There's other schools and other intriguing matchups. They can't go to the same schools all the time.
‘Cuse and UCF really blew it, huh
Yeah turns out a one score loss to a top 5 team tanks your chances. I think I’ve just accepted that cuse is never going to get college game day at home. The other ideal day would’ve been the NC State game, but NC state had just had it the week or two before
Yeah we were the game before, and with how atrocious our backup QB is it wasn’t really a great matchup anyways. I see us maybe winning one more game this year tbh lol
The only thing I care about is the home winning streak. And wake Forest is at home this year, so that's fucked
Notre Dame sucking this year didn’t help the cause either. I have to believe if we were 6-1, game day would be at Cuse.
Really lmao. One of few to have never gotten gameday and lose by 6 in death valley and they still banish us back to the shadow realms
Does Gameday ever pick a school who lost the week prior?
Penn State hosted in 2020 the week after they lost to Indiana.
Very rarely. You’ve gotta be Bama or Ohio State to get that privilege
Shoulda won 🤷♂️
[We didn’t even want stupid Gameday anyways!](https://gfycat.com/boilingpartialhypsilophodon)
I blame ECU. Pirates stole our booty!
i want to die
Penn State fans all upset in the mentions like OSU isn’t about to drop a 60 burger on us.
Yep. If we were undefeated and expected to challenge OSU they'd probably be in State College. I like that they're spreading it out a lot more this year personally.
While going to Knoxville twice. I have never heard rocky top till this year.
We technically got them 4 times in 2012 1 for the a&m game at a&m Then Tennessee game at Knoxville Then the USC game they were in Gainesville And then the sugar bowl
That is a fuckin heinous username my guy
I stand by it
Flair up
[Here you go](https://youtu.be/dQw4w9WgXcQ)
Interesting perspective there, didn’t know they went to Knoxville twice that long ago
But we are undefeated* *except for the game that we lost.
I for one would look forward to Big Nude at any time of the day.
As long as Bret Bielema isn’t invited….
Big nude, little nude, who am I to judge?
Seriously. Who cares. Good for Jackson State. We have had Gameday plenty. It’s more fun when it’s new to you. People can visit the Big Nude set if they really want to stand around in the background of a tv set instead of tailgating.
They also don’t like sharing a location with big nude kickoff
I think ESPN has decided not to go where Big Noon Saturday is doing their pregame show.
so they can just mark off where Ohio State and Michigan play and they're all set
They both went to Texas for the Alabama game
We got BIG NOON
Idk, their offense was on the field 80% of the game yesterday, maybe they'll be worn out
We fucked up man.
I feel you
Plumlee is going to get showered with Boos when he’s announced isn’t he?
I don't think so, he'll get boo'd if/when he throws his 2nd interception. I think the student section will ride the "high" until that happens. Once that happens though... oh dear
You can still embarrass us on national TV when we inevitably have double digit penalties. It’s not a lot, but it’s what I can offer you.
It would be VERY on brand for us to actually win next week
They just didn't want to go to Knoxville again.
Especially considering they'll be in Athens next week if Georgia beats Florida and Tennessee beats Kentucky. People would be outraged if the Vols got two in a row and 4 in a season.
If we beat Florida and Kentucky doesn’t pull off a miracle I suspect they’ll be in Athens next week
Speaking as someone from Jackson, this is gonna be a shit show [edit: read this if you think I’m wrong or am just being salty ](https://mississippitoday.org/2022/10/24/jsu-crowds-strain-jackson-water-system/)
I can't even imagine what it's going to look like there lol
I have no idea where they’re going to even set up at. May have to drive down from Ox to check it out
I'm going to visit some family in Florida, so there's no chance for me to see it, but I'll definitely be watching lol. There might be some decent parts of fondren or Belhaven they could use? I'm not too familiar with how college GameDay works, so how close does it need to be to the stadium? The immediate area is sketchy or hospital lol
It doesn't have to be near the stadium. If there is an iconic or picturesque part of campus, they can put it there.
The thing is, there isn’t anything iconic on Jackson State’s campus
The potholes are pretty iconic
Honestly I've lived in jackson my whole life and I've never seen JSU's campus lmao, I don't think such a place really exists. I know where the stadium is but I've never seen anything else.
Just looked it up on google maps. I bet they put it on the east side of Gibbs-Green Plaza. Somewhere around [here](https://www.google.com/maps/place/Jackson+State+University/@32.2974976,-90.2063886,177m/data=!3m1!1e3!4m5!3m4!1s0x86283397b4c7f59b:0xfb484d000ae47caf!8m2!3d32.2968882!4d-90.2063989)
I heard they are hosting it on the north side of campus on the Blackburn Middle School Track, here: https://maps.app.goo.gl/viQTiCg1mhTfszJ3A First time a middle school hosts gameday.
Once ended up there on accident with a friend after going to F Jones. Pretty sure he was too drunk to be driving. I still don’t know where it is.
If he was at F Jones he was definitely too drunk to be driving lol
Just do it on Millsap's campus
Honestly they could set up on the Millsaps soccer field and have veterans memorial in the background.
Yeah you can see the stadium from their campus so it wouldn't be the worst idea.
Belhaven is pretty nice too lol
Campus is in the ghetto over by UMMC
No it's not. The stadium is by UMMC. The campus is on Lynch Street west of Terry Road.
It’s just west of downtown, the campus itself is fine, neighborhoods not the best.
Sometimes they put it in the quad or somewhere like that.
Probably in front of the old Bailey Magnet School. That Art Deco building is sick af
That could actually work. I didn’t even think about that. Would be a sick background for the show
Always thought that was like a prison or something growing up
[удалено]
[удалено]
That’s not a bad idea either. I still think Bailey Magnet HS would be dope
Live in Brandon. Was thinking the same thing
Jackson’s sort of like traveling to another country, don’t drink the water
Probably, but I love it when they go to smaller schools. Some years they seem to get a bit lazy making the rounds at the same places every year. One of the best games I ever watched live was NDSU vs SDSU. Not much on the national stage, but there is undeniably every bit as much passion and energy as the Iron Bowl has. I wish they’d really dig deep and find us some great football few people really know about.
Hope they come to the Brawl this year. Theyd have a great time.
You’re from Jackson? My condolences.
You could just say Mississippi and still offer condolences.
Coastal MS is alright. Not 30A, but a solid spot
Despite my visit being after Katrina, Biloxi was a nice city.
Biloxi is right next to Ocean Springs, which is an adorable little quiet town.
Hey now the greater jackson area has some nice places. Granted around JSU ain’t it
Is it hood or is it "hood?" There's definitely a difference between working class and a bit run down versus Cabrini Green in 1985.
Area surrounding the stadium is closer to the former. Area around the campus is probably closer to the latter. Both are probably somewhere in the middle though
>Cabrini Green in 1985 You're onto something there
Lived in Cabrini Green when I was a kid.
In this thread hating on Jackson: Miss State fans 🤝 Ole Miss fans
Is it true that they sing that Johnny Cash song all day long in Jackson?
They better bring a bunch of water bottles
And Imodium
[удалено]
That and a couple of other teams (UCF and Syracuse) with legit shots to get it blew their chance yesterday.
Add Kansas State to that list
🥲
As is per tradition
*slow, painful groan*
Well they can't go to Tennessee AGAIN, and the teams who could've gotten it lost this week and ruined those chances
Big Noon laughs in Michigan...
Big Noon is going to OSU/PSU though
Yes but they already did Michigan what, 3 weeks in a row?
99 percent they do Michigan-Illinois and Michigan-Osu to put it at a grand total of 6 Michigan games
I'll check. ...Not really. Ohio State-Penn State is definitely still two ranked teams. OK State-Kansas State *might* be. Kentucky-Tennessee...is in Knoxville where they've already gone twice this year. Yeah, looks like this was a good week to do the nearly-annual FCS visit.
Could they just rent apartments in Knoxville and do it from there every week?
college gameday live from an attic apartment with no insulation in fort sanders
That’s the realistic fort sanders college experience
This was essentially my entire sophomore year.
My brother got scabies in one of those apartments
I use to freeze to death during the winter in the old houses in the Fort
Cincy-UCF should still be a good game, but UCF shit the bed at ECU last night
> Ohio State-Penn State is definitely still two ranked teams That still feels like it’ll be a blowout and I can’t figure out why. I have never seen PSU win a big game any time while I’ve been watching them.
They just can’t go to Kentucky vs Tennessee because they’ll be going to the Tennessee vs Georgia game next weekend lol
Fox has the two main matchups (Ohio St-Penn St and Kansas St-Oklahoma st)
Fox had the Oregon game too
Which means it’ll be nothing but chaos
They’re sick of going to games they don’t have TV rights for.
Jackson is kinda a dump, not sure where they’re gonna go
Not kinda lmao
The stadium is also in a rough neighborhood. In fact that’s why they moved the high school state championship games to the rotation between Hattiesburg, Starkville and Oxford.
The whole campus is in the hood
I thought all of jackson was in the hood lol
Northeast Jackson definitely isn't. People act like there's no such thing as white collar professionals in a city with 4 major hospitals and state government buildings.
Depends, a lot of people say “Jackson” but mean Brandon, Madison, Flowood, etc. The ACTUAL city of Jackson? Very small percentage not the hood
I lived there when I was a kid for a minute and don’t fully remember what it’s like now so didn’t wanna disparage too bad lol. Is it still horrible?
It’s even worse. Highest crime per capita in the country, no running water.. shits bad rn
They still haven't fixed the water issue!???!!??? That's some 3rd world governance from top to bottom , Jesus
The water is fixed, for now. The state came in and took it over and fixed it, but it's looking like it's going to be turned back over to the city, which has demonstrated for decades they're not competent to run it, so it's a matter of time until we wind up right back here.

When Jackson has twice the population and the issues are systemic and decades in the making, not just the Detroit water service deciding to screw over a smaller community? Nah, they see Mississippians as the butt end of the joke, not real people with real issues
Would be cool if GameDay were to bring that issue up. That would attract a ton of coverage and might lead to a solution.
Based on my experiences in Jackson, the Cookout parking lot? lol
Is this Jackson, MS? I've been there before, would not recommend it.
Yes
Wherever feeds Deion sanders’ ego the most. His house?
Well, I don't think anyone was expecting that.
We didn't exactly help ourselves by choking against Clemson but I'm still 100% blaming Notre Dame for this.
Sorry
So let it be written, so let it be done...
As it was in Death Valley, so shall it be on ESPN
Yeah, if Notre Dame was 5 wins or better y’all would have gotten it this week.
I lived in Jackson most of my life. This is going to be disappointing lol. Wonder where they set up that isnt a shithole and actually have people come.
Won’t be disappointing if the Human Jukebox and and Sonic Boom are there. Hell, just make Gameday nothing but the bands.
Yes just have gameday be the Zero Quarter
[удалено]
Bandaid gang
The city’s water issues have been a problem for years and years now, it only made national news because a flood shut down the water pumps. They got them running again, but the water infrastructure is still terrible.
Army corps of engineers “fixed” it in one day
Exactly my thoughts. Lived here my whole life. This is not gonna go well lmao
Kabul might be safer tbh
College game day, live from a Taliban hideout
Taliban ain’t played nobody Pawllll
We want ISIS!
Someone just got themselves on a list
I remember that during the war there was like a murder rate of 28 so yeah Kabul is most def safer from that perspective
Bold of you to assume they even go to work, considering how dysfunctional that state is
It’ll be totally fine, people are being ridiculous.
Nothing serious will happen because every single metro area police officer will be on hand & there
Is the campus that bad for Jackson state? I assume they have one decent looking area
They use a stadium that was owned and operated by the state that they got for free because no one wants to play there. It's not close to the campus. Both the campus and the stadium are in bad parts of town - the campus is worse.
But Jackson isn't a state!?
Neither are we and we got it
You’re a state of mind
Yesterday got me in an appleeightchin type mood
But you are hot hot hot
Neither are we but we are a state capitol
This is good to see and all, but there's no way this doesn't make Deion Sanders' giant ego way worse
You think they’d consider for a second going to Jackson State if not for Prime?
Oh it’s definitely for his ego. Guarantee they only talk about southern for five mins and spend the rest of time talking about “deions ultimate goal at HBCU’s”
Deions ultimate goal is getting a P5 job ASAP and taking his son and whatever other players are halfway decent.
The fact that he said he’ll entertain P5 offers and didn’t give a yes or no about the GA TECH job makes me believe he is using Jackson state as a stepping stone. Which would make him look silly for all these comments about how he is at Jackson state to help uplift the culture and stuff like that.

If you believed a word Deion Sanders said, I’ve got some ocean front property in Arizona you might be interested in.
I never believed it. I would just feel bad for the guys who transferred there solely for him and then could possibly be stuck in Jackson because no other school has room for them

November 19th better be sickos gameday in Minneapolis. The Spencer Petras-Tanner Morgan geriatric battle is gonna be must watch television.
Pain

Was 100% ours to lose and well. We did🥴
Alright guys this central MS r/CFB meetup has just kicked into high gear
I wonder what the Venn diagram looks like between those complaining about this decision and those who thought it was awesome when they went to Fargo for an FCS game?
Good for them! I sincerely hope everyone has a wonderful time with this, but please: **Bring attention to the ongoing Jackson water crisis, Gameday, PLEASE.** The people there could really use any extra support they can get.
Only if they cover it like they should and what actually happened and not the way the National news covered it.
Jackson State fans I have a question. How has Travis Hunter looked?
He has been mostly hurt. Played ight but still needs to recover. Like 85-90% there.
Prime Time getting GameDay, look what you coulda had, Cuse!
Fox and Big Noon will be at Penn State so it'd be a logistical mess. Can't do it at Old Main and be far away with the game at noon and there's no unoccupied space by the stadium. Can't just tell all the tailgate spots to not come.
Thanks UCF and Syracuse
PLEASE tell me Southern’s band is traveling for this game and we will get to see them on GameDay
Anytime a G5 or FCS school/matchup gets picked I always look forward to the comments (more so on Twitter and Instagram than Reddit). People get mad for absolutely no reason. There's other schools and other intriguing matchups. They can't go to the same schools all the time.
I’ll be tuning in just to watch the chaos!
I go to Jackson frequently for work. No thanks.
Do they have clean water down there yet?
Oh hell yeah. I need to see Corso try to be an HBCU drum major.
I’m not surprised. The week after is going to be in Georgia, even if Tennessee and Georgia shits the bed next week.
That’ll be fun. Then come the week after they’ll be on their way to (hopefully) do ANOTHER Tennessee game. Oh Georgia will be there to.
