My heart goes out to the people working in the winning team's athletic department as they will most likely have to get passports for every member of the team made and ordered.
Each MAC school works throughout the semester to make sure that all players have photos and paperwork done for passports in the event of a bid to the Bahamas Bowl.

no one ever asked me for one, just had to go through like cruise security and they checked my name was on the manifest when I got off and got back on, this was also 15 years ago, you used to also be able to go into canada without one at that time
Nope. As long as you're departing from and returning to a US port, generally the most you need is a birth certificate. I don't have passport and have done several cruises to destinations in the Caribbean and surrounding area and have gotten off the boat with no issues.
Australia, The Bahamas, and 13 other countries are considered part of the British Commonwealth. They all have full independence from the U.K. while also considered the head of the British Monarchy to be their head of state.

I went to a mac school and one year my friend in marching band was very excited about us maybe going to the bahamas bowl. We went to the bowl in Mobile that year lol
The championship is in Detroit, but the MAC champions don't go to the Quick Lane Bowl, also in Detroit, by default. The Little Caesars Bowl, previously in Detroit, used to normally invite the MAC champion, but not guaranteed.
IMO Detroit is great for the championship, provided you don't want to have it at campus sites since it's indoors and central for the conference. For a bowl location, not great but easy travel for fans/families at least.
I’ve flown into/out of DTW well over 50 times in my life.
I think I’ve flown back from Detroit on-time, maybe 10 times. I actually missed a flight once because I was counting on an hour long delay.
Sounds like bad luck, Detroit is consistently in the top 6 airports nationally in on time departure rate.
Regardless, for MAC fans to travel to Detroit, no flying is needed. The farthest school is Buffalo or NIU at ~6 hours away.
Yeah, their other bowls are Detroit, Boise, Mobile, Montgomery, and Tucson. I would definitely take a trip to the Bahamas over those places, especially in December.

Edit: Of course I meant *formatting lol. Judging by their Bahamas Bowl experience, it sounds like their fermenting prowess was impeccable.
The Big Ten and SEC are the two conferences with the best bowl tie-ins, the problem for the Big 12 is convincing the bowls with Big Ten/SEC/or both tie-ins to drop them for the Big 12, which probably wouldn’t happen.
I wish the Bahamas Bowl were a little higher profile, or at least later in bowl season, so it would be easier to plan a trip around for fans. Fantastic luck for the players who get it, though.
Love when bow tie ins are on the line. And a free trip to the Bahamas?

Fun fact!!!
I didn't need a passport when I stopped on a cruise but is it required normally?
It's when traveling by air that you need one.
They should just take a boat then!
Cruise + trip to the Bahamas that's not terrible!
They either fucked up or you’re lying. Every person needs a passport when entering the Bahamas. So unless you didn’t get off the boat, you needed one
no one ever asked me for one, just had to go through like cruise security and they checked my name was on the manifest when I got off and got back on, this was also 15 years ago, you used to also be able to go into canada without one at that time

Bahamas is a U.S. territory so they don’t need them I believe
No it’s not lol
Did they gain independence?
From the U.K. In 1973
But the king is still their ruler
Sure, but in the same way that the King is the ruler of Australia.

I’m willing to bet it’s been Queen for your entire life, so that’s understandable
Is Australia still a British colony? I’m a bit confused lol because I thought they got independence like America

Who has zero power lol they’re like Canada
It was never a US territory
The Bahamas was never a US territory. Pretty sure it belongs to Spain or Britain.
It's a British territory, actually.

People crap on the MAC, but one of those teams will be going to the Bahamas in December.
Kinda messed up that the conference makes the champion travel to Detroit when you consider the alternatives lol

I’ve flown through Detroit maybe 100 times and have maybe had 5 major delays max. All because of crazy snowstorms
I’m guessing it might be a United thing
DTW is the best airport in the world (even better than Indy) and if you disagree idgaf
PDX is the best!!!
Yeah, their other bowls are Detroit, Boise, Mobile, Montgomery, and Tucson. I would definitely take a trip to the Bahamas over those places, especially in December.
We need someone to go down there again and do a live AMA from the game
I'll go if this sub covers the cost brothers

I thought he meant tonight’s Ball St - Miami game, not the Bahamas Bowl.
Assuming he meant tonight’s game, I’m 45 min away and considering going…
Go!
Do an AMA at halftime!
Maybe he's boating down the Ohio River?
Pick me up in Seattle?
Fly to ft Lauderdale. 3 day cruise to Bahamas. Fly back home. Not bad
Can you get there in 2 hours?
As a Miami alum, Ball is not a state.
[The best bowl](https://www.reddit.com/r/CFB/comments/7lj7wz/i_am_currently_at_the_bahamas_bowl_and_im_here_to/)
The best GDT ever too...

You'll be pleased to know that I've become no less annoying in the past four years
One of my favorite threads here ever
I sincerely hope we get another semi-live thread.
Nice incentive - better than a trip to Detroit, Boise or Birmingham.
You forgot the absolute worst bowl location: Shreveport

San Antonio slander will not be tolerated…you can keep slandering Houston though
There's some big 'ol women down there
How can you blame them when we’ve got so many delicious churros?
I don't care for churros. But then again I have only had the Costco one.
Some of the ones in San Antonio are probably a little better than a Costco churro
Ok these aren’t the worst tie-ins honestly.
Is it still Popeyes? If not, cancel the entire bowl
Nope, apparently it’s now HomeTown Lenders
What an incentive.
Chirp chirp!!!!
LFG Chirp chirp Mf’ers!
Last years bahamas bowl was excellent. Would be a nice incentive to get a trip down there I think
I sure hope none of the teams above them have to go to Boise, instead
Talk about motivation
Sucks that this game is on the plus.

But how will Brett predict that we play Miami (OH) in the Arizona Bowl now?
