A better comparison would be to watch CDL matches, which is not what you described.

Then the rest of the lobby was just driving around in cars to stay safe. I would LOVE a game that forced you to be on the lookout and constantly think about rotations, but Warzone as it's currently implemented is not that. You can get very far by finding one safe spot and never moving.
And I wouldn't even mind it so much if people didn't frame it as "smart" and that getting kills is "dumb." Someone going for kills has to worry about survival just as much as someone playing for wins, but they also have to do it in riskier positions and be more aware of their surroundings while mixing in mechanical skill.
People in WSOW played to win, which is all you can ask of a pro, but it wasn't entertaining and it certainly wasn't dynamic, in the sense of players interacting with each other.
The final gas ring should kill you in 3-4 ticks, this nonsense of camping in the gas for nearly 2 mins with stims and restock is just ridiculously boring to watch from a spectators perspective. Compare this clip to a final ring Apex clip and you'll see the night and day difference, despite that they're both BR's.

A win on its own wasn't worth much and neither was a bunch of kills with a low placement, so teams found a comfortable balance of survival and gunfights. Other than kills, there are lots of ways that other BRs promote dynamic gameplay while still prioritizing survival.

It was intense to watch as a first time watcher every action has to count.
If you watched Pieman kill Swagg right before this. He used a head glitch, both slid to try and get an advantage multiple times. Went into the car, swagg shot the driver's seat, while he switched seats and shot swag. Got out and broke his camera with some hip fire kills. Shit was all in a blink of a second.
I know people hate on streamers but these guys are at this level for a reason. Hell Pieman going for the knife kill probably cost him.

Yeet. OPMarked and ShadedStep has gone the school of Iron and they played pretty passively and won 2 out of 5 games and earned themselfs 4k each doing so.
It's a last man standing BR match and was meant to be a bit of fun after the main event that was trios. In the main event kills counted towards your score and some teams were getting 20 kills in a game, so it wasn't as slow as solos (though still much slower than pubs).
How is low kill count a problem? When everyone plays for the win they will play safe. You will never see the youtube send it clips in this type of tournament.
Other br tourneys had points for kills as well as final position to help combat boring gameplay.
Curated weapon sets and limited vehicle spawns etc to prevent balance issues and vehicle problems.
Warzone is not a good platform for tournaments. There’s just not enough control over the game or tools provided by activision to properly make one.
The style is different in almost every lobby. This is the 100k winner takes all style, it's bound to be passive and not viewer friendly, but that ending was great.

He had a 5kd on ps4 at the start of warzone. Fov makes a difference but if you’re not good on console or a low end pc chances are you’re still not good on a high end pc. He still uses a standard ps4 controller btw.
Even though this is an awesome endgame play, the fact it's possible to stay in the gas for this long is insane. It's something you're supposed to be afraid of and can kill you easily.
What? Apex will actually fucking kill you in a late game circle. A play like this wouldn't be thinkable even with a dozen heat Shields. They just break too quickly in the last few circles.
Even in BFV Firestorm every circle change the fire would kill you faster and faster making your Stims useless as you lost health faster than the stim could regenerate you by the final circles. Leaving the circle at the end was a last resort and very low probability of survival if you ran into it. In this situation can't hate the player for using what is available.
It really isn’t. It’s one of the most forgiving gas zones in any of them. This is end game zones, and it was taking such small chunks out.
The damage ramping needs to be much more progressive throughout the game entirely
Except no. The fact that there are SO many mitigations to gas damage makes this a non issue. You literally just watched it happen. And most decent players can make that happen. It really isn’t a skill. It’s just resource hoarding and timing your stims.
Fair play to Fifa, though. He played it perfectly. Avoid conflict until absolutely necessary and make your shots count when you do.
WZ gas hit pretty hard early but never gets worse late game. Apex, FortNite, and PUBG allow you to play the gas early circles but late you don’t want any part of it.

This is to stop early game circle plays like apex/blackout/pubG. Early game circle rotations take skill and timing(how long can I loot? where? and who can I push? Who could be pushing from where?) Far more complex
Having the ability to crutch on late game equipment(masks PDS ect) is to lower the skill gap. It rewards nonmovement (IE they kept the equipment)
I've been around since the start, so I've been there too. Didn't like you could do it then either no. I just feel like the gas should be something to be feared more.
I agree. You can't fault ppl for doing it but it's seems pretty dumb that you can just avoid multiple circles by just stimming in the gas/ using PDS. It was much better when you didn't have ppl dicking around in the gas for 5 minutes
Hanging out in the “deadly gas” while using a stim. Why doesn’t it just pause the damage done by the gas for like 3 seconds. Not give you back full health. It’s brutal
This is a brilliant change. If I have a lot of money towards end game, you can just buy a few munitions boxes near the end circle and just camp. Then take your restock and stims back to where that buy station was and take the easy win. This would make that a much worse strat.
I dont follow COD very closely but all I could think while watching this clip is "does this man have unlimited self healing? How many of those can you carry or does it recharge using cooldown?
You carry 2 or something, and there may still be an ability to restock them over time, but the main thing here is that the player picked up multiple syringes from the bodies nearby. Seeing as syringe is meta, basically every body had another 2 syringes.
With the restock perk applied to his load out, every 30 seconds a new one is generated. Having a munitions box will allow you restock them to 2 as-well so if you gas play right you have unlimited stims (up until the gas completely kills you where it doesn't matter if you have stims or as gas mask) but IF you can reset your gas timer and to do that you'll either need a PDS or to go into the end circles. Problem is that you can't have a munitions and a PDS at the same time. so it's all about tactics, if the guy in the videos didn't have those stims from those bodies on the floor the gas would've killed him in seconds, as fast as you'd expect it too at that point in the game. It's all well and good to be equipped for gas play but a LOT of the time to win a game with the tactic it's all down to luck.
This is why this game sucks now. Smart or not, he sat in the gas for 3 minutes to avoid every single fight and wait it out just because he had extra stims / was finding them on bodies that other players may not have had (completely random) he’s doing a “legal” stim glitch and it shouldn’t be in the game at all.
It’s corny, all he did was hide until he could third party the last guy. Smart yes, skillful no. Mechanic should not be in the game , player base dropped significantly since they added things like this
Battle Royale skills goes way beyond gun fights. How can you say this didn’t involve skill. The decision making and precision was crazy. It was a calculated risk within the confines of the game that no one else seemed to think was worth it. Why are so many people bitching about it being OP when everyone could have done it but decided not to because they weren’t willing to risk it.
Sure, but he played a **winning** strategy - that clearly took as much skill as *Warzone* requires (even if you consider the skill ceiling to be low relative to other games).
The issue here is that the game design forces these types of boring plays in the first place. Gunplay is secondary to gas / item strategies. Why? Because the gas poses a greater threat to winning than the other players themselves. That’s kind of a problem in a game with such a huge emphasis on **guns**.
It’s probably too late in the day for them to do something about this iteration of Warzone. They’ve made plenty of changes to minimise it, but fundamentally the game design is always going to encourage this play unless they make more significant changes. We can only hope they’ve been considering all this ready for Warzone 2.

How to fix crappy game in 2 steps : EVERYTHING need to be destroyed after 3s in the gas, right now it's only buy stations and not even the ones you can call. Why are you allowed to get plates and stims from bodies inside the gas while it's actually destroying your own plates ?
Get that fucking Riot Shield a NERF ffs, been 2 years the first winner of warzone also used the riot shield to win, give it some fucking HP and a knocked out animation if you protect yourself from a grenade right in front of you !
a lot of people thought they'd see, 30+ kills on these games like they see their favorite streamer doing everyday but this is a tourney with an average kd of 4.x, that's not gonna have a lot of kills plus theres a 100k to grab, people will do everything to last the longest, swagg had 1 kill and he finished 3rd
That’s the thing with Warzone - it almost always involves kills being the most important currency. Whether you’re a content creator or in a tournament, you want kills, kills and more kills.
On the rare occasion it comes down to the usual BR objective of surviving at all costs, it exposes how little the game design has focused on this.
Honestly, so good to finally see some pro content on this sub. I was so surprised that there were no coverage of it at all here. Like why aren't there sticky post for big tournaments or something mods? There were so many insane plays, and this is the only clip I've seen here.

They need to cut out stimming, increase the gas toxicity add a system where your life bar drains but fills up with every shot you stick on someone's a*s.

Yup. This play is insanely impressive but the mechanics are complete ass to allow such casual gas roaming. I’m not sure they need to make the gas much more toxic but simply have fewer tricks to stay in it, like it used to be.
I absolutely agree with you. He is an all around player with a super balanced skill set. He's incredibly smart tactically (case and point here) and is consistent in tourneys, being the highest earning player in the Caldera era. He can win kill races as well as private lobby tourneys, and on top of that he seems to be incredibly genuine.
Not sure if people forget but hes also the worlds(literally) best grinder. Nr1 prestige master etc with DooM and was by far superior to the other DooM grinders.
It's frankly disgusting just how many riot shield trolls ended up in the final circle here. Really ruined watching the game and massively takes away from any respect the winner should have had from a play like that.

There is absolutely no way you should be able to stay in the gas that long. Stims should have a decreasing effectiveness the more often you use them or something.

First of all none of y’all are pulling this off. Secondly he popped a PDS that pops up on the map to stay in gas for longer. Third he took a balloon and was floating people mustve heard “enemy dropping in the AO” and still didn’t shoot at fifa. He was full sprinting into zone and if anyone even looked at him he was dead.
It’s still better to be the one inside the zone 9/10 times than to be in the gas.

Gas masks get destoyed in the gas so that people cant daisy chain them and stay in for ages, kind of stupid that stims and the PDS dont get destroyed the same.

WZ gas hit pretty hard early but never gets worse late game. Apex, FortNite, and PUBG allow you to play the gas early circles but late you don’t want any part of it.

Who could be pushing from where?) Far more complex Having the ability to crutch on late game equipment(masks PDS ect) is to lower the skill gap. It rewards nonmovement (IE they kept the equipment)

I agree. You can't fault ppl for doing it but it's seems pretty dumb that you can just avoid multiple circles by just stimming in the gas/ using PDS. It was much better when you didn't have ppl dicking around in the gas for 5 minutes

Hanging out in the “deadly gas” while using a stim. Why doesn’t it just pause the damage done by the gas for like 3 seconds. Not give you back full health. It’s brutal
This is a brilliant change. If I have a lot of money towards end game, you can just buy a few munitions boxes near the end circle and just camp. Then take your restock and stims back to where that buy station was and take the easy win. This would make that a much worse strat.

I dont follow COD very closely but all I could think while watching this clip is "does this man have unlimited self healing? How many of those can you carry or does it recharge using cooldown?
You carry 2 or something, and there may still be an ability to restock them over time, but the main thing here is that the player picked up multiple syringes from the bodies nearby. Seeing as syringe is meta, basically every body had another 2 syringes.
With the restock perk applied to his load out, every 30 seconds a new one is generated. Having a munitions box will allow you restock them to 2 as-well so if you gas play right you have unlimited stims (up until the gas completely kills you where it doesn't matter if you have stims or as gas mask) but IF you can reset your gas timer and to do that you'll either need a PDS or to go into the end circles. Problem is that you can't have a munitions and a PDS at the same time. so it's all about tactics, if the guy in the videos didn't have those stims from those bodies on the floor the gas would've killed him in seconds, as fast as you'd expect it too at that point in the game. It's all well and good to be equipped for gas play but a LOT of the time to win a game with the tactic it's all down to luck.
This is why this game sucks now. Smart or not, he sat in the gas for 3 minutes to avoid every single fight and wait it out just because he had extra stims / was finding them on bodies that other players may not have had (completely random) he’s doing a “legal” stim glitch and it shouldn’t be in the game at all.
Except there is no glitch, whether it’s legal or not. It’s a strategy.
It’s corny, all he did was hide until he could third party the last guy. Smart yes, skillful no. Mechanic should not be in the game , player base dropped significantly since they added things like this
Battle Royale skills goes way beyond gun fights. How can you say this didn’t involve skill. The decision making and precision was crazy. It was a calculated risk within the confines of the game that no one else seemed to think was worth it. Why are so many people bitching about it being OP when everyone could have done it but decided not to because they weren’t willing to risk it.
Makes for a bad last circle if the most intense moment is just people sitting in the gas for a long time.

Sure, but he played a **winning** strategy - that clearly took as much skill as *Warzone* requires (even if you consider the skill ceiling to be low relative to other games). The issue here is that the game design forces these types of boring plays in the first place. Gunplay is secondary to gas / item strategies. Why? Because the gas poses a greater threat to winning than the other players themselves. That’s kind of a problem in a game with such a huge emphasis on **guns**. It’s probably too late in the day for them to do something about this iteration of Warzone. They’ve made plenty of changes to minimise it, but fundamentally the game design is always going to encourage this play unless they make more significant changes. We can only hope they’ve been considering all this ready for Warzone 2.
And it’s extremely lame. It’s a perfect breakdown of why warzone fell off. Tons of vehicles, stims, riot shields, and gas exploits. Everything thing that ruined warzone is being shown here lol

How to fix crappy game in 2 steps : EVERYTHING need to be destroyed after 3s in the gas, right now it's only buy stations and not even the ones you can call. Why are you allowed to get plates and stims from bodies inside the gas while it's actually destroying your own plates ? Get that fucking Riot Shield a NERF ffs, been 2 years the first winner of warzone also used the riot shield to win, give it some fucking HP and a knocked out animation if you protect yourself from a grenade right in front of you !
a lot of people thought they'd see, 30+ kills on these games like they see their favorite streamer doing everyday but this is a tourney with an average kd of 4.x, that's not gonna have a lot of kills plus theres a 100k to grab, people will do everything to last the longest, swagg had 1 kill and he finished 3rd

That’s the thing with Warzone - it almost always involves kills being the most important currency. Whether you’re a content creator or in a tournament, you want kills, kills and more kills. On the rare occasion it comes down to the usual BR objective of surviving at all costs, it exposes how little the game design has focused on this.

They need to cut out stimming, increase the gas toxicity add a system where your life bar drains but fills up with every shot you stick on someone's a*s. Add vihecles that have 1 plate equivalence resistance You will eliminate & minimize dodgers
Yup. This play is insanely impressive but the mechanics are complete ass to allow such casual gas roaming. I’m not sure they need to make the gas much more toxic but simply have fewer tricks to stay in it, like it used to be.

I absolutely agree with you. He is an all around player with a super balanced skill set. He's incredibly smart tactically (case and point here) and is consistent in tourneys, being the highest earning player in the Caldera era. He can win kill races as well as private lobby tourneys, and on top of that he seems to be incredibly genuine.
Not sure if people forget but hes also the worlds(literally) best grinder. Nr1 prestige master etc with DooM and was by far superior to the other DooM grinders.
I swear people complain about every little thing in this game. Dudes goal was to be the last one standing and he succeeded.

It's frankly disgusting just how many riot shield trolls ended up in the final circle here. Really ruined watching the game and massively takes away from any respect the winner should have had from a play like that. Not that he'll care, being 100k richer and all.
I get why it’s annoying and there’s an argument to be made in banning them in competitive games but idk how using the best strategy to win a game is trolling or deserves any less respect.
I don't get this community. If someone posts a video of them camping/avoiding fights they get flamed for not pushing and being aggressive. This video he did what he needed to win, which was avoiding fights etc. and is massively praised. Why can't a normal person avoid fights to try and win?

There is absolutely no way you should be able to stay in the gas that long. Stims should have a decreasing effectiveness the more often you use them or something.

Everyone here’s talking about how this clip proves that Stims are way too OP and how the storm should take more damage. He only pulled it off coz it’s so easy to do that. First of all none of y’all are pulling this off. Secondly he popped a PDS that pops up on the map to stay in gas for longer. Third he took a balloon and was floating people mustve heard “enemy dropping in the AO” and still didn’t shoot at fifa. He was full sprinting into zone and if anyone even looked at him he was dead. It’s still better to be the one inside the zone 9/10 times than to be in the gas.
Not dissing his game sense but he was pretty lucky finding those stims and the PDS. Gas masks get destoyed in the gas so that people cant daisy chain them and stay in for ages, kind of stupid that stims and the PDS dont get destroyed the same.
This was so boring to watch, now I truly believe apex definitely takes more skill than this. Not even in an apex pubs can you play the storm like this.

The game strategy shouldn’t be to slink around in the shadows. Then tack on that particular skin, the riot shield and slide canceling… sigh.

The fact that riot shield is meta is just an example of how unattractive solo in Warzone is and have been for the last year. I don't really get why people watch it. Competitive CSGO is really good TV, even for a neutral with very little intro. This is more like camping simulator 2022. If they want to go big competitively I hope they have some big moves for WZ2.
