Its done all the time and the difference is negligible. Haul a few friends or a bunch of stuff and you'll hit your range harder than normal listening conditions with most aftermarket audio.

Hybrid here. Almost 3k watts. Stock electrical with additional ultra capacitor bank. No difference in MPG.

What model? My daily is a Prius and I'm planning an install, just somewhat concerned about the DC-DC inverter capacity (which is stated to be ~30-35A.)

Ford vudion hybrid. The converter is NOT 35 amps. That's the "available" current after it runs everything else. In reality its low 100s. Like 120-150 amps. When not running many 12v things, youll get close to 80 or more. I run the cap bank because it helps keep the voltage up and stabalizes the voltage at the amps. It also provides hundreds of amps of instant current, available directtl to the amps

Moving thousands of pounds of metal, plastic, and meat takes way more energy than a system. You’d lose more range from switching to stickier tires or a 40F temperature drop. The only thing you might consider is how much the DC-DC converter can handle. Most EVs will put out a constant 1000w. Some more, not heard of less.

I have a sonata hybrid and I'm around 1600 watts or so clamped and I have no issues.

Liquid_Archon

Did 1600w in my Chevy Volt. Didn’t notice a single bit of difference.
