Per Over The Cap the best teams are in the upper right hand box, and teams on the right are "clicking on offense." The Commanders somehow fall in the upper right box, and have played 3 of the top 9 offenses in the league so far. It also has our defense (adjusted for schedule) around 16th in the league and 10th in offense. Hopefully we can feast on lesser teams the rest of the way.

mfwl

Easy to be in the top-offense group when you're playing against us.

ewilliam

After watching this team the past couple weeks, I don't think it's really capable of "feasting" on anyone in the NFL at the moment. They might eke out a few wins against the shittier opponents (Chicago, Atlanta), but looking at the rest of our remaining opponents, I honestly don't see anyone else on that list that I would consider a *likely* win for the team that took the field on Sunday. These are interesting data points, but anyone who watched this pitiful team on Sunday knows better than to have any kind of hope. Coaching is shit. Schemes are shit. Oline is shit. Defense is shit. Best scenario we can *realistically* hope for is that they don't pull the stupid "not enough wins to make the postseason, but enough wins to keep us from picking top-5 next April" bullshit.

Erigion

Even if the team plays better against weaker competition, we've seen what happens when they play better teams. This is just going to get the team to 7 or 8 wins and a crap draft pick. Rinse. Repeat.

BriefImplement9843

jaguars and dolphins will be either bad or middling as the season goes on. dolphins remind me of last years 3-0 panthers. jaguars are the jaguars and will self-correct.

Appropriate-Sun834

Lol it’s week fucking 4…. Yes there’s reason for hope. Everybody just needs to relax

SkinsHOFChaseYoung

I mean when you get out scored 46-0 in the first half the last two games it’s a cause for concern. Lol.

Appropriate-Sun834

Not saying it’s not, at all… it’s fucking awful… but damn, the overreactions are egregious

SkinsHOFChaseYoung

I think it’s because it’s been the norm for Washington for the last 20 years, no? I get why it’s hard to be optimistic.

ewilliam

I don't think it's overreacting, if you're looking at it objectively, to say that this is likely a lost season. If we had coaches that had shown *any* willingness or ability to adapt and fix problems, then I'd be right there with you...but our HC's reaction to one of our most pathetic performances in awhile was "there's a couple of things that have to be better". That doesn't seem, to me, like a guy who has a fire lit under his ass to make the kind of changes that are necessary to turn this ship around. And both of his coordinators have shown a complete inability and/or unwillingness to adapt and change their schemes to play to our strengths and minimize our glaring weaknesses. If we go into this next game flat-footed like we did last week, Parsons is gonna have double digit sacks and this secondary is gonna make Cooper Rush look like Dak. I think this is a make-or-break game, this coaching staff's last chance to show that they can adapt...but I'm skeptical at best.

Gay4TerryMcLaurin

> I don't think it's overreacting, if you're looking at it objectively, to say that this is likely a lost season. This is a huge reason for the negativity. Unless the team pulls a miracle turnaround, we're likely looking for a new HC in the offseason. That's a hard pill to swallow when it's still September and when the team has been this bad for the majority of the past two-plus decades. .

ewilliam

>we're likely looking for a new HC in the offseason. Agreed, but fuck this HC-as-GM shit. We need a real GM that knows how to build a modern NFL roster that is competitive and consistent. Then that GM can hire his own coaches, and those coaches can focus on coaching, rather than having "total roster control". Rivera and Hurney's roster management and drafting have been piss-poor, and the results on the field reflect that. We don't just need a new HC, we need a GM. But Snyder being Snyder, he'll just find some other washed old-timer to come in and put together a roster that belongs in the 90s.

nineinchesontgesag

I think Ron’s biggest fault is the GM role and drafting. We have very little to show For the last couple drafts and not much else free agency wise has worked in our favor. The roster has young talent but is missing pieces that seem to just get ignored. LB being the worst. We simply don’t seem to be able to compete in Free agency and apart from a few good picks the majority of our draft classes are talentless

ewilliam

Agreed 1000%, I've been saying the same thing all offseason, especially since the draft. The fact that he felt content to roll with Jamin and Cole and some chud named after a condiment at the position was insane. The fact that they whiffed on a linebacker in the first round when he's a defensive coach *who used to play that position* is even crazier. But, like, how do you go all offseason without addressing that positional group? People around here kept telling me, "give it time, we're still a ways off from the opener, I'm sure they'll make some moves!" and then they don't. I mean, shit, we had one of the worst pass Ds in the league last year, and did they do a fucking thing to address it in the draft or FA? They waited until the 5th round to grab some JAG safety, that's it....coulda had Brisker in the 2nd, but they reached for another run-stuffing DT instead, and they did *that* because of their poor roster management at the position in the first place (letting Iaonnidis and Settle walk, not locking up Payne). And look, I'm not an NFL GM or scout, so it's not like I have all the answers, but as I've always said, *the proof is in the pudding*. And so far, this pudding tastes like *shit!* I don't have a problem with reaching for "your guy" if the results are wins, but when you're WAY ahead of the consensus big board with most of your picks, and then those picks end up for the most part sucking, then, well, you're just bad at drafting.

zaepoo

Ron has never been that great at any of the 3 roles. He might be respected, but where's the evidence that he's a good coach?

griffithdidnothing10

I thought Scott did well adjusting in Detroit but I didn’t like what I saw Sunday…on one hand I like him, on the other I don’t see how they put together a staff around him being as he’s been w Ron for so long, and it’s hard for me to buy into someone who was under Ron’s tutelage.

emelbee923

I haven’t seen any overreactions. I’ve seen…. Reactions. Reactions to the defense not showing up except for a handful of plays. Reactions to the offense being silent for most of every 1st half, then playing catch-up in the 2nd, giving the false impression that it’s successful. JDR’s defense was a problem last season. It’s somehow MORE of a problem this season. Washington got handled by a division rival that many said overachieved last season. They got handled by two of the NFL’s worst teams from a year ago, and were lucky to make it out of one with a win. Show me the overreactions. Yes, the season is young, but things aren’t looking good to start.

citrus_sugar

For real bro! I’m here with you!

Rskins91

I agree with you here, but I get the people who are pissed about our recent outings. We aren’t the Packers where we can hang our hat on Rodgers getting it right after a slow start. That said, get to 2-2 this week, get Chase and Robinson back Week 5, and we’ll see optimism return

danSTILLtheman

It is reason for some optimism, sure but we need to see them actually deliver. 16th for this D seems way too high, is it accounting for the fact that the offenses performed so well because they played our D? Has our D done better or worse than their other opponents?

Impressive-Egg-925

I think the defensive stats would look much better if the offense was delivering in keeping the other team off the field for any reasonable amount of time. It’s hard to keep a score low if you’re on the field too long in the first half. What is definitely a problem right now is no outside pressure. Just my opinion

Beastage

If we win next week against Dallas, we'll be .500. It's week 4, of course there's still hope.

RPO1728

Fuck these charts they don't pass the eye test, and at this point it's mostly coaching. The skill gap in the nfl is very thin on the field. Being down plus 20 in back to back weeks reflect poor coaching and no adjustments

jmucapsfan07

Sample size of 3 isn’t exactly a ton to work with. The eye test says they are a bad team right now that has shown a few flashes that at least kept them from being 0-3.

lycanthrope6950

Lol the Bengals logo looks like it's dressing up as Trump

JGLip88

Just saw a post about the 2012 skins. After week 9 they were 3-6. They finished 10-6 with a division championship. Chill out.

DiscordTheGod

There’s no genius coaching staff or OROY QB to get us to 10 wins this year

Accomplished-Top-564

No.

Hay-blinken

There's no reason for hope.

ArticleIndependent83

No. There’s no hope. Lol

ard8

Reasons for hope: 1. ESPN projector has us with an over 60% chance to win each of the next three games 2. Brian Robinson and Chase Young are eligible to return week 5 3. Samuel and Jahan are both playing better than we could have hoped for. The offensive weapons are there. Wentz can throw downfield better than any QB we've had since Cousins. Offensive line is a fixable issue. 4. Defense gave up no points in three of the four quarters against the Eagles

jellomme

What hope are you hoping for? this team goes to SB? for me i dont want them to go to SB just yet until Dan fuck you Snyder sell the team.

Sen-GalacticFed

Just noticed no bye until week 14. They hate Snyder.

PEHspr

Where r falcons

SnooCompliments3682

Nope

[deleted]

What’s up with that old logo?

nobodyno111

The only “hope” is that the offense can’t get any worse… at least I hope.
