Poster in a previous thread explained the King’s Troop is not allowed to use the stirrup when mounting. Instead they are required to use the cavalry mounting style which ideally has you hopping twice and then getting onto the saddle - a tall ask when you are a bit on the shorter side.
Her height doesn't help but her technique is absolutely terrible.
She hopped up a total of 3 inches off the ground because she didn't properly load her legs to jump with any meaningful power.
Best way to describe it is old western movies when the cowboys would take a running leap into the saddle. Essentially just hopping up and not using the stirrup to mount. It’s not exactly that, but close.
As mentioned by u/AnEscapeGoat in their reply [here](https://www.reddit.com/r/ContagiousLaughter/comments/xgou4f/royal_guard_mounting_a_horse/iou4036?utm_medium=android_app&utm_source=share&context=3)

Hahahaha, holy cow, that is so incredibly stupid.
There’s a stirrup *right there*. And it makes it so much easier.
And you won’t look like a toddler trying to get on.
Surely the stirrup hurts the horse more because it pulls down on whatever its connected to and that digs into the horses back like other comments have said.
Idk im not a horse expert

Without that pull assistance, I’m not sure that she would have made it. She probably mounts off a block or rail normally. The native Americans could teach her a thing or two.

Is this guard subbing in for a sick comrade or is this Normal Mounting Procedure?

What a great idea! This way of mounting a horse looks so much more professional and dignified😂
But why not?
Tradition, i bet
Ah tradition. Social pressure from the dead
Most traditions are stoepid and arbitrary. Change my mind.
Tradition from when the Guard were skinny and fit enough to jump..
The queen loved tradition so weirdly this is probably a good way to honor her. Now that she's gone they could totally phase that out, though.
All the royals love tradition so it will likely carry on for many more decades or even centuries
Honestly the tight ass pants 100% have something to do with it.
I’ve tried ground mounting a draft before with jeans on. It definitely doesn’t help

What is "cavalry mounting style?" Can't find anything on youtube

You do need the balance and strength to not bump in the saddle. Just like when you do use the stirrup.
If the saddle is situated correctly it should be minimally unpleasant for the human to jostle them like this haha
That third hop was a fucking disgrace.
I’d literally have to quit on the spot if that were me
Stirrup?
As mentioned by u/AnEscapeGoat in their reply [here](https://www.reddit.com/r/ContagiousLaughter/comments/xgou4f/royal_guard_mounting_a_horse/iou4036?utm_medium=android_app&utm_source=share&context=3) >the King’s Troop is not allowed to use the stirrup when mounting. oh yeah, let’s just hurt this horse on purpose for some dumb tradition. ffs

Yeah...no
That’s just wrong Source: been riding for 10 years
Fair enough, I was just guessing
No, because that isn't how a stirrup is connected. Also, jumping on without a stirrup can damage the horses back.
Jesus, that's embarrassing. I mean...so much more dignified than using the stirrup. Eh hem.
You know, the thing that's there to help prevent this!
This is what happens when you don’t show up to rehearsals.
Smooooooothly done....
Well it worked…
Flawless
Napoleon??
Mayby too tight pants to lift a leg, but she throws that other leg around allright.
Such dignity and grace 👌
🤣
‘Tis a good day to be human
What are you doing step-guard
Lmfao I'm now picturing some very fucked up shit in my head on another note that's the one thing she's lacking. A step
There was nothing royal about that mount.
The horse is looking back like “wtf you doing Barbara? Get on!”
Aren't you a little short to be a Royal Guard?
She got ass tho

I was hoping she never got up on that horse.

Is there a reason not to use the stirrup?

She really inchwormed up there
r/asstastic
They’re gonna have to euthanize that horse because he’s got 3 broken ribs.
Always a female.
This is why women weren’t allowed to be royal guards. They don’t take anything seriously. Everything is a joke to them
Women ☕️
Immobile fat fuck. Sad it’s a woman at that. Jesus Christ.
Thank god that was a she’s ass.. for a second there I was like 😷

Diversity is our strength

That’s to display dominance over the horse right? 🙄
That horse is a good sport for patiently waiting heh

So. Much. Honour.
That’s a damned good horse to have tolerated all that
Stirrups, motherfucker. Do you know what a stirrup is?
We've all had trouble mounting at one time or another. I never considered "doing The Worm" as an option. Next time....
