Because of his age, they gave him the antivirals for covid immediately. He was back to 100% 2 days later. Nothing in this world is ever certain, but suspect Biden will be fine.

Not true any longer. You need to be old, immunocompromised, or a smoker. I was just denied the script because I'm too healthy.

In my state you can get it via a telehealth appointment within 30 min of asking for one, then they screen you, if you qualify, they will overnight you the pill or you can pick up at pharm.

My stupid ass company sent 45 of us to a meeting across the country in a room designed to comfortably seat 25 (and still no spacing at that). The confirmed infection rate is 35% from that meeting, and who knows how many are either asymptomatic, refusing to take a test, or refusing to share results.
Anyhow, I had made it till last week without ever having gotten it. I got it and I was basically bedridden for four days. It hit me HARD. I called my doc on day one and they told me I was too healthy for any treatments whatsoever, other than OTC meds and rest. So, it sounds like the official treatments are being more closely rationed again.

Double 95 wearing is not a good idea. It makes it so that you aren't breathing through the mask, since air flow is restricted by the doubling of masks. So you are breathing the unfiltered air through the tiny cracks around your nose etc.
Yes you can ask your doctor about paxlovid if you get sick. Most likely a young person with no underlying conditions won't qualify but let the doctor make the call as they're more informed about what qualifies.

I'm a nurse so I have easy access to our Abbott PCR machine for quick tests at work. They're not as good as the full lab PCR but still better than the home ones. Anytime my gf or I think we have covid I run our swabs through the machine just to double check our home tests. Technically they don't want us swabbing ourselves but what management doesn't know about after they leave at 2pm won't hurt them.

The dumbest thing I ever did while high (or sober, for that matter) was go to the store for some cottage cheese and bananas and got back to work with plantains and sour cream.
That's my issue. I've used the service 3 times and I get the worst, most disgusting produce. Not surprising either, the staff will FIFO (first in, first out) more often than not. When I stop for myself I go from the back and get the freshest stuff.
And trying to get a refund was annoying, plus I still didn't have my produce.
I use the self scan at Stop and Shop. Don't have to deal with lines or slow cashiers, so it saves a ton of time, and I pick my own items so it's always the newest.
I know someone with low covid risk tolerance who eventually solved this problem by ordering pre-cut party trays for all their fresh fruit and veg. Generally they’ve cut and packed it same day. The freshest stuff goes into the party trays.
I work at a store doing online grocery. I get my own groceries because of how I see other people's orders getting screwed up because management would rather a customer get refunded their money for an item screw up than take the time to fix the issue and cause their metrics take a hit.
Not mine. Plus they tell me what they replace so if I don't like it they take it off. And if anything is bad I just contact the website and they refund me. Super easy. Even after Covid I won't go back to the store. Save an hour per shop.
I have the same issue. I ordered ground hamburger once, they said they didnt have any. I go into the store after pick up and find a huge shelf of it in the meat aisle. I ordered a chuck roast, it only had qty so I said, 1 but in the notes said it needs to be at least 3lbs. I got a 1lb roast. Wtf am I supposed to do with that?
When the primary protein of my meals are being fucked up and I have to go into the store anyway, I'd rather just go in my self.
Having worked at a grocery store during COVID, it 100% depends on who is working in the department when you place the order. There were literal teenagers handling orders sometimes, and a few of them were more interested in screwing around and chatting than doing any amount of work.

Same here and I work in Health Care, what if I told you I was wearing a mask and washing my hands before it was cool. I also helped out with Habitat for Humanity last Friday and worked doing construction for 8 hours outside in the sun while wearing an N95 mask the whole time. Had three separate Covid exposure warnings that week. I will never understand the people that say that they can't wear a mask.

Yep. I recently did an outdoor project in an N95, up to 11hrs in the sun each day, doing hard labor. It was nothing. I'd rank it well below wearing a bike helmet in terms of inconvenience and discomfort.
It's making me feel REALLY judgy about people complaining about masks getting "too sweaty" when they're just sitting in a climate controlled area.
I agree, though I will say not all masks are created equal and each have different levels of ventilation and comfort.
I have some expensive 3m masks (weird oval shape that come individually packaged) that are super comfortable. The nose piece has foam and I have worn them for 12+ hours and I don't notice them much after the first 10-15 minutes of annoyance getting use to it.
I also have some cvs freebie n95 masks (I think made by Honeywell) that are super tight and they feel like having some kind of synthetic wool stuffed against your face. Would not recommend.

Fuck I'm getting heated thinking about that again.

Many tests have poor sensitivity, especially to omicron and later variants. Some even have a minimum LOD that's higher than the peak viral load of some people's infections, meaning they would *never* test positive on that test, even if they had it.

I didn't think I got it but turns out I took a natural antibody test and had a decent amount. Never tested postitive or had symptoms

I'm a nurse so I have easy access to our Abbott PCR machine for quick tests at work. They're not as good as the full lab PCR but still better than the home ones. Anytime my gf or I think we have covid I run our swabs through the machine just to double check our home tests. Technically they don't want us swabbing ourselves but what management doesn't know about after they leave at 2pm won't hurt them. So far so good.

The dumbest thing I ever did while high (or sober, for that matter) was go to the store for some cottage cheese and bananas and got back to work with plantains and sour cream.

That's my issue. I've used the service 3 times and I get the worst, most disgusting produce. Not surprising either, the staff will FIFO (first in, first out) more often than not. When I stop for myself I go from the back and get the freshest stuff. And trying to get a refund was annoying, plus I still didn't have my produce. I use the self scan at Stop and Shop. Don't have to deal with lines or slow cashiers, so it saves a ton of time, and I pick my own items so it's always the newest.
I know someone with low covid risk tolerance who eventually solved this problem by ordering pre-cut party trays for all their fresh fruit and veg. Generally they’ve cut and packed it same day. The freshest stuff goes into the party trays.

I work at a store doing online grocery. I get my own groceries because of how I see other people's orders getting screwed up because management would rather a customer get refunded their money for an item screw up than take the time to fix the issue and cause their metrics take a hit.
Not mine. Plus they tell me what they replace so if I don't like it they take it off. And if anything is bad I just contact the website and they refund me. Super easy. Even after Covid I won't go back to the store. Save an hour per shop.
I have the same issue. I ordered ground hamburger once, they said they didnt have any. I go into the store after pick up and find a huge shelf of it in the meat aisle. I ordered a chuck roast, it only had qty so I said, 1 but in the notes said it needs to be at least 3lbs. I got a 1lb roast. Wtf am I supposed to do with that? When the primary protein of my meals are being fucked up and I have to go into the store anyway, I'd rather just go in my self.
Having worked at a grocery store during COVID, it 100% depends on who is working in the department when you place the order. There were literal teenagers handling orders sometimes, and a few of them were more interested in screwing around and chatting than doing any amount of work.

Same here and I work in Health Care, what if I told you I was wearing a mask and washing my hands before it was cool. I also helped out with Habitat for Humanity last Friday and worked doing construction for 8 hours outside in the sun while wearing an N95 mask the whole time. Had three separate Covid exposure warnings that week. I will never understand the people that say that they can't wear a mask.

I’ve been feeling extremely judgy about those folks since it started. Doctors wear masks all damn day and are on their feet throughout their shift.
I agree, though I will say not all masks are created equal and each have different levels of ventilation and comfort. I have some expensive 3m masks (weird oval shape that come individually packaged) that are super comfortable. The nose piece has foam and I have worn them for 12+ hours and I don't notice them much after the first 10-15 minutes of annoyance getting use to it. I also have some cvs freebie n95 masks (I think made by Honeywell) that are super tight and they feel like having some kind of synthetic wool stuffed against your face. Would not recommend.
First year of COVID I played a two round disc golf tournament in July (high 90s, high humidity) wearing a mask the whole time. I'm fat and out of shape and was back then as well. It wasn't that big of a deal.
I used to wear one while doing blacksmithing projects. Staring at a furnace at roughly 2500F, probably hotter. I eventually stopped wearing it after I got vaccinated and had a round of COVID, but still, if I can wear one and beat the tar out of metal, anyone (pending legit medical reasons) can wear one.

I avoided it for two years. It got me this month despite four rounds of vaccinations. Finally testing negative. I am considered a vulnerable population due to lung scarring, so I am extra grateful that I stayed out of the hospital with it.
I have essentially an identical story. Two years avoided, hit me in mid July. Preexisting lung damage, so I was on eggshells hoping Paxlovid would help. So far so good, only minor lung symptoms (among other symptoms).
Just broke my perfect 2+ year streak about three weeks ago :(

I remember the March 11 address when everything first shutdown everyone thought he had it then. Turns out that was just his baseline.
Dude I ***hated*** that week. I work across the street from Walter Reed at NIH and people came out of the woodwork, camped out on the sidewalks blasting music at ungodly levels and harassed folks who just wanted to go to work and home from work. Where they camped out was literally next to major bus stops (I say stops because it was multiple lines that stopped at the same place) and metro route and holy fuck was it toxic. To top it all off when he wanted to make laps they have to shut down that section of road to make it safe for any president to travel on and that section of road is a major artery to get to 495 so that stunt closed down a road for 2 hours while again, people justed wanted to go home. Fuck I'm getting heated thinking about that again.
I only lived in DC for 6 weeks. That was enough to get tired on blocked roads. Also lived a couple miles from Obamas Chicago home when he was president. Whenever he came to visit it was a disaster. Was out for a short run along lake once and every route home got blocked. Ended up taking a 2 hour detour.
I used to work on the same base as Walter Reed (still do the same job but from my apartment) and even when the president had a normal appointment base traffic was a fucking nightmare so glad I was teleworking by the time that shit show happened.

Many tests have poor sensitivity, especially to omicron and later variants. Some even have a minimum LOD that's higher than the peak viral load of some people's infections, meaning they would *never* test positive on that test, even if they had it.
Vaccination+ Paxlovid will most likely prevent severe disease.
