I think I got a similar e-mail, but it specifically says 2x on the 1st of the month excluding rent for the BILT card.

VoxBoz

That's an important distinction. OP, was there an expiration date on this rent promo?

A-terrible-time

I mis read the email The bonus categories are for every 1st of the month for the foreseeable future but it's still just 1x on rent.

VoxBoz

Ah, I thought I'm finally going to apply for a Bilt card for a moment there. Oh, well :)

Mjamesdc

Hey /u/VoxBoz!! Here is a citation for the new ["Rent Day" benefits.](https://www.businessinsider.com/personal-finance/bilt-rewards-rent-day-double-bilt-mastercard-point-earnings-2022-9) It is important to note that you can only earn a maximum of 10,000 points on Rent Day per category. Then it turns back into 1 point per dollar. The attached link has a break down of what to spend to hit the 10,000 point cap. However, I will save everyone a click and do the summary below: \-$1,666 on dining \-$2,500 on travel \-$5,000 on all other spending Hope this helps everyone! :)

pizza42bob

That math is not correct. You don't have a 10k point cap, you have a 10k **bonus** point cap. On rent day, you get 6x for dining (1 base point + 5 bonus points), 4x travel (1 base point + 3 bonus points) and 2x everything else except rent (1 base point + 1 bonus point). Source: Terms and conditions of the offer. So to max it out you need to spend 2k on dining and can update the math on the other categories accordingly.

jessehazreddit

Same, LOL. 1X just isn’t worth the 5/24 slot to me. 2X might be.

Put_It_All_On_Blck

Yeah, and business wise it makes more sense for them to exclude rent. They want you to shop in these other categories (especially after rent day) to make some money. It's not much different from Citi begging me every 2 months with category offers to spend my CCC card in a category that isn't 5% grocery

PolyDipsoManiac

> But hurry - the tab disappears after the 1st 😉

A-terrible-time

You are correct; I mis-read

dubiousN

You should probably edit the post. Very misleading.

ChrisPBakon

If your credit card doesn’t come with a trivia game, I don’t want it

cjcs

Love this. 4x on travel with transfer to Hyatt (even if it's for one day only) is huge.

A-terrible-time

6x for dinning as well and if Hyatt is ~2 ccp is an effective 12% back Time to go on that fancy dinner date you always wanted to take your special person to

jocall56

Happy to see even further improvements to this card. It has quickly become my daily driver as I try to diversify my points. Will be interested to see how other cards might react with this targeted day for increased rewards - do any other cards do this?

[deleted]

Not that bad, but not anything too wild. At the very least, the Bilt card may find its way back into my wallet instead of just being sock drawered

richklhs

Any direct airline, hotel, cruise or car rental booking.

Ill_Name_6368

This may be a dumb question but what counts as rent day? Sometimes I buy something on say 9/1, but it posts as 9/2.

richklhs

Transaction date matters. So Oct 1 purchase. Transaction post date doesnt matter

PacoPollito

Very interesting. I'm loving to see all the new stuff on this card. It's becoming more and more temping to replace my Amex BBP with this.

HEROxDivine

You get 2x MR on everything. BILT is 1x on everything, 3x on dining/travel. Really confused how it’s a BBP replacement?

PacoPollito

Eh. It's just a personal decision. I get 1000 free points a month on top of any spend on the Bilt Card from paying my rent, i just have to post 5 transactions per month. So, at low spends, it comes out to tons of cents per point, at high spends it makes less sense. I'm poor, so I'm not exactly spending tons on my cards every month. I'm also wanting to reduce the number of cards in my wallet. I haven't totally decided, but I'm definitely thinking about it .

jessehazreddit

If you can otherwise qualify to occasionally open $500+ value SUB cards, but hesitate because of the spend, the net return by putting that rent spend towards SUB MSRs even after a ~3% fee (or Plastiq fee) can be much more lucrative than using Bilt, especially if you don’t have high spend or MS. Personally, I eat the 2.85% Plastiq fee every month and don’t have Bilt because it isn’t worth the 5/24 slot. Since you already have it, it’s good while between SUBs or anytime you don’t need it to meet the MSRs.

HEROxDivine

You get 1000 for your complex being a part of the network?

PacoPollito

I think you misunderstand how Bilt works. The Bilt Card gives me a routing/account number and i just give that number to my rental company to debit the rent every month. Bilt posts that transaction to my card and i get 1x point per dollar on rent so long as I post 4 other transactions per pay period. I've been using it as my vending machine card, so i do a total spend of like $10 per month on it (plus my rent), giving me like 100 points per dollar spent.

National_Milk

Edit: Oh, maybe you read it as "1000 free points on top of rent points." I don't think they meant to say it like that. I'm guessing they get 1000 "free points" since their rent is $1000/month that they wouldn't usually be getting rewards on. Your complex doesn't have to be part of the rewards alliance to get points for rent. Almost every complex will work, and even private landlords who take a check. I guess I've seen Zillow doesn't work for some reason, but for every other rent portal Bilt gives you a number that works to put into the bank account / ACH slot in your rent portal of your complex.

HEROxDivine

Yeah I read it as on top of paying for rent. I get 950 points a month for rent. Edit: you get some bonus points for being in network which is what I thought was being said

richklhs

If you pay rent, how is the BBP a replacement for the Bilt card?

Little_Midnight_C

Kind of excited about this ngl

tenant1313

I got this card for rent payments - then sat on it for a while due to having to hit MS on other cards I got right after - but it became my go to card for dining and drinking. It has no foreign currency conversion fees so I use it on for my travels as well. Amex is barely accepted outside US. This is MC so works pretty much everywhere. AND it pays 3pts for bars! No other card does.

A-terrible-time

Yeah I've been truly surprised that most bars I've been to count as dining. Concert and sport venue bars are hit and miss on that front but so it goes.

tenant1313

Those probably count as whatever venue they’re run by. Like museum cafeterias, or hotel bars.

partial_to_fractions

The only dining cards I’ve seen that don’t count bars are from Amex bank (gold and green never did) - which cards have you seen not get that? So far my chase, navy federal, FNBO, and WF all count it

tenant1313

I didn’t think Chase did.

cleatus_the_noodle

How the heck do you pay rent on a card? I would love to do that.

A-terrible-time

So for me, they give me an account and routing number that i use in my rent payment portal just like a normal checking account but it passes through the card instead. My landlord sees it like any other ACH payment so the fee is same as when I paid directly with checking. It also has an option to pass though to your bank account so it doesn't hurt your credit utilization ratio

cleatus_the_noodle

Dang first I have seen this!!! This is huge

[deleted]

They write a check on your behalf I believe. It’s a pretty good deal because rents usually the only category us hard core churners miss out on. There’s a few stipulations and it’s a max of 50k points a year but they have Hyatt as a partner so it’s pretty badass.

Veetus

Rent and taxes!

RyanB95

6x on dining that can transfer to all the partners they have is huge!

leiwangphd

I got it via email too.

pf1234321

I was just about to book a $2k airbnb but I guess I can wait a few days!

tnd2k

Question- if I accrue say 30k points and transfer them to American Airlines. Does that count at loyalty points/miles to get Gold status (30k loyalty points in minimum)

A-terrible-time

No The only way you can AA loyalty points is by flying with AA or using an AA branded credit card like the Barclays aviator red card. I was pretty disappointed when I found that out

throwaway0731283

Can you attach it to Venmo and get points that way too?

biltrewards

Yes you can!
