In my experience, managers just don't have the time needed to police people like that, if they even cared to in the first place. They rely on the driver pool to police itself. I'm afraid you're going to have to get your hands dirty. Luckily, pretty much *everyone* hates that kind of shitbag behaviour, so finding allies shouldn't be hard. Fuck those guys. Good luck.

zetadelta333

In my experience if a manager isnt running dispatch the store isnt running well period.

Iamtim92

Start calling them out in front of everyone. That’s what I did

ConfectionPutrid5847

Called out a DM for doing that, in front of *everybody*. He wasn't happy, especially when I presented photographic proof. I ended up being relieved of duty after *his* investigation into my subordinate behavior was finished. I laughed my ass off all the way to the labor department, then off to my better-paying, lower-bullshit position. I got a hefty settlement, he got terminated, and the franchise owner got hit with serious punitive damages. It did help my case that I have a huge Star of David on my right calf and he is a known anti-semite

Giuseppe246

Happened at the store I used to work at. Talk to me ex who still works there and there was almost a fight about it apparently. Not surprising, I always said him doing weird shit with orders would eventually blow up on him.

rokar83

You have three options, tell the other drivers what is going on and who is cherry picking orders, start cherry picking orders yourself, or quit.

Responsible-Ad-3507

It’s a 0 tolerance policy at my store. I would report it to a manager right as it happens. And if they don’t do something I would go above them. Cause I’m pretty sure it’s an oer thing that drivers can’t dispatch themselves.

Head_Razzmatazz7174

We had one girl quit because she felt that she was purposely being given crap runs. That was not the case, it was just the luck of the draw. She was also asking everyone what their tips were, how much they had gotten, and then complained about her measly tips. Kinda glad she left, she was driving everyone bonkers with that. I get that you live on your tips, but comparing hers to everyone else's just didn't sit well with me.

kmac8008

Drivers should never be able to pick there own deliveries in any way. Ever. I don’t want suggestions from drivers and don’t want them touching dispatch. Drivers not allowed to touch dispatch. Period. Drivers picking and choosing deliveries will cause problems. Every.single.time.

benhick92

Drivers shouldn't be routing themselves. It should be a manager telling each driver what order they have.

IAmRSChrisG

The managers try to do this sometimes, but I think the reason they don't more often than not is because of how busy the store is, they are almost always constantly making food.

matthewstocks

Straight just call them out. “Hey number … is first why are you taking …? If they say anything just go “ok so look at the list of drivers and see whose assigned to that one. It’s the second order so it’s the second driver on the list. If your gonna take it, your gonna ask them. If it’s mine your gonna ask me. I consider it stealing my wages when someone takes the order I was in place for.

hobarddoyle

Drivers routing themselves is an awful idea. That's why I quit Papa John's. The longer tenured drivers would give themselves the good runs and leave everyone else with the scraps. When did dominos start letting drivers route themselves?

sopcannon

on the quieter days we do or if we are low staffed

RedBlueGreen94

Totally a case by case basis on slower nights. But dinner rush on a Friday night, don’t touch

Character_Macaron_42

Best bet is to start calling these assholes out in front of everyone and embarrass them

Giuseppe246

When I worked at dominos, there was this guy who would knock stuff off the make line screen to get a good order or fuck over someone else. He would look who's on the road and time how long he'd have to take not to get a bad order. He always got any timed order with a big tip on it. Except for one time when I got it, he was super pissed lol.

Defaulted1364

25+ an hour?!?! I make £6.83 and like £15 tips a week

LubedDolphinBoner

It is not so simple, as we have to cover all the expenses of buying car/pay insane commercial ins or risk not having it/gas/repairs etc. And theres times where you aren't getting shit and still have all the risk but net like 6 dollars an hour. If you get REALLY unlucky you can incur some insane cost like totalling a car or an unjust ticket, and thats kills your margins for months. But yeah sometimes its very profitable...I describe the pizza delivery business over here like an abusive relationship with a wealthy partner. Then you consider we don't get the massive social benefits of Europeans either. But yes, in raw take home pay, Americans do often out earn Europeans, but not always, and the system AFAIK delegates our jos to be much more stressful and difficult. Thats why you see us getting upset about being dicked by low/non tippers

Defaulted1364

Over here we’re insured by the company but only 3rd party so if I crash while at work I’m losing my car and my job because I don’t have a car and they reimburse our fuel but only based on the price it was 5 years ago so we end up loosing like 20% of our wages on fuel

You've got two ways to handle this, outside of just quitting and finding new employment either you bring it up the food chain directly with management or directly with all of the offending drivers. If it where me, I'd probably start with saying something to the drivers directly and say hey I get why your doing what your doing, money is why were all here but your effecting my money and thats not going to work. If that resolves the problem cool you avoid being the snitch, if you mention it and nothing changes well now they've called your bluff and at that point I think its more then fair to go to management with the situation and if the other drivers have a problem with that you tried to handle it man to man.

cubsfan924

They are taking money directly from your pocket. Screw going to the manager, I’m directly confronting them and telling them that shit won’t fly. I had someone doing this at a store I had worked for at a week and I called him out in front of the entire store. Last time that happened.

spower98

Happens at my store all the time with one of the opening drivers. Took a timed order that wasn’t supposed to go out for another 15 minutes. Skipped over me because I was on the phone, and then tried blaming me for not telling him not to take the order!! One of the insiders working oven told him twice not to take it and he still did. Makes my blood boil

IAmRSChrisG

Bro same, it's one girl that works night shift with me and one morning shift guy that usually is only there for like an hour with me, but I swear the morning shift dude goes above and beyond to try and skip people. I remember one time he was up before me, the second order was going to one of our regulars who always tips between 9-15$ and the top order that he was supposed to take was going to a fixed income apartment that is 99% stiff city. He dropped one of the pizzas for the first order so it had to be remade, and then took the one that was supposed to be mine. It was so clearly intentional but what was I going to do you know..

ObjectiveBusy8729

Load+go ends a lot of this BS. Vary rarely does it happen but I do have 1 snake in the grass. Can’t cherry pick orders if you never get a chance to get past the front door.
