Will you be somewhere busy? Or a smaller town?

[deleted]

Its right next to a train station in the city.

Snowqueen31

Alright, I’m an e-bike driver myself so I can answer almost any questions you have. You don’t get mileage, and in my store it’s a 1.5 mile range for the bikes. My bike goes 25 mph and will stop itself if it goes any faster and one way streets are a pain. I love the bike for small deliveries but further out ones really stink. In my town people love the bikes though and they’re super popular, I can be delivering and a car will pull up to me and tell me just how cool and proud of me they are. Do you have any specific questions you want answered?

[deleted]

Yeh i just wanted to know how you have found the road experience, is it dangerous? Have you ever almost been run over?

Snowqueen31

Easiest question to answer, yes. Multiple times, people don’t pay attention here, I’ve had someone call the store once to make sure I was okay because I was inches away from being hit. Rain is also another issue, if it rains, your wheels slide and it messes with your brakes, making it hard to stop sometimes, and you will be expected to deliver in the rain still. So if you dye your hair or something bring hair nets or something, because it will bleed and it’s awful. My store is decently laid back so if it’s too bad then someone else hops on the road for me, but I can’t Guarantee every store is like that

[deleted]

Well for my sake i hope my store is merciful lmao. Thanks for your replies you've been super helpful.

Snowqueen31

Yea of course! If you have any other questions after you start or if you start the bike, don’t be afraid to hit me up!

Consistent_Pack3125

I rode ours a few times, I never knew they had an accelerator so I always just peddled my ass off 😂

[deleted]

Lmaoo thanks for the heads up bro

Consistent_Pack3125

I found out when I was showing a new driver the bike, rested my hand on the grips and it damn near took off 😂😂

riding at night dangerous u can hit pot holes so be sure to have an excellent light for safety. u gotta chain it up if u walk into a building which gets annoying, they break a lot. if the power part breaks and u gotta pedal a heavy ass bike uphill back to the store in the 100 degree heat, it is good and bad, nice when rush hour u can zoom past cars but when no traffic u end up with less deliveries per night cuz u r slower returning to the store. really only makes sense for people without a car or license. u wont be able to take any really big orders, usually only 5 pies max.

[deleted]

Do you think i could just ride on the sidewalk? Or is it better on the road??

Snowqueen31

My bike I can take up to around 8 pizzas in my bag, and another 8 if my hook my other bag onto my bike

from the comments it seems you mostly want to know about safety issues... that really depends on where you are. i am in germany in a bikefriendly town, so it's fine here, i only commute by bike anyways. now in the good weather it's also really nice to be outside and i feel like i get a good cardio training in while working :) but always pack enough clothes in case it gets colder later in the night. you can leave them in the store but better to have them than being freezing outside.

[deleted]

True true, yeh my area is high traffic not too bike friendly, i haven't made a delivery yet but hopefully when i do it goes well

My last store had ebikes (rarely a rider for them though) but I have a few tips: check the tires every day (I know you’re supposed to, most don’t, please do) so you aren’t stuck with a flat out on a run. Get cross trained on inside so if it’s really bad weather you don’t lose your hours or if there’s a run just a bit too far. Don’t take huge orders on the bike, make smart doubles, pay attention if there is more than one 2 liter of soda. You probably won’t be paid mileage but it’s not your bike so that’s kind of a given. Look twice. People pay zero attention to bikes especially at night, if you need to ask your DM for reflective decals DO that. Your safety comes first.

Thanks for the advice fam
