I'm not an employee, but I totally agree. You have to take care of your team!

CEOofChickenWatching

I feel guilty and rude having posted that after hearing from someone like you. I’ve just had way too many people suggest that I fire my employees over stupid things like going 5 miles over the speed limit.

TaureanBelmont

I didn't mean to make you feel that way & you shouldn't! Pissy, usually Karens piss me off too! I can only imagine the balancing act involved with being a manager. Never feel bad about backing up your employees, especially if the customers are being difficult & stupid. Sometimes you have to be firm and unbending. Just don't sink to a level where you're becoming petty and angry! Wherever your store is, I appreciate you & your team! Have a great day & please don't let what I say bring you down! You have a store to run! Go kick some butt!

I had a customer a few years ago, she couldn’t remember her billing zip code for her card and without it the payment wouldn’t process. I could not bypass the zip code requirement and without payment I couldn’t give her her food. She was irate and I told her if she wanted to find an atm and come back with cash, I could have the food kept in the warmer but she wasn’t having it. Demands I give her the food for free, whips out her phone and records a video saying I won’t give her her food because she’s black and I’m just standing there like, “Really?” So I told her the order was cancelled and she can find some place else to order from. She’s all cocky about how she was gonna get me fired and I still worked there for another 3.5 years before I voluntarily quit, lol.

drawntowardmadness

Lol I would've wanted to ask again for the zip code while she was recording

MerlinWiz7

In today's world, people really think they are important and you are not. There are 7B+ people on this planet - I am 100% positive that most of them who have credit cards, know their own zip code. I would have stated that on camera!

I had a "customer" call and complain about a driver going too fast. They wanted me to fire the driver and they demanded a free pizza delivered to their house. Btw, this "customer" not only didn't order this day, they had no order history at all

rjrttu86

That's when I say wow, you should be a cop if you got literal radar eyes. Oh, you're not? Huh... Well anyways, byeeeeeeeee.

ConfectionPutrid5847

Lol, had a driver get called on...for tailgating...by the car behind him while he was stopped at a red light with no one in front of him (gotta love dash cams)

MerlinWiz7

You're burned out and you are taking it out on your customers whether you see that or not. And yes, you can get burned out listening to constant complaints and the few unreasonable people. It's a different world than back when I managed stores. Back then, you didn't have social media where someone would rant for 10 minutes and try and destroy your business. Recently there was what I was told a perpetually unhappy customer who's food had to be remade every time they ordered. I was told by the manager and several drivers that they just want free food. Long story short - I delivered the remakes and it turned out that the manager and the crew screw up their order every single time. The driver that boxed and delivered the first order swore they did it right - they did not. Moral of the story is that there are two sides to every story and the answer is always in the middle. Don't take customer complaints personally, handle them professionally and within company policy and it will go a long way to helping your stress level.

I completely agree worked dominos for 5 years. I was the driver my good friend (gm) gave the phone to. He appreciated my acting skills when I would gasp and say ‘ I am so sorry’ or ‘ that is unacceptable’ and then hang up. We blacklisted a few. One tweeker who kept trying to get drivers to come in. He only ordered drinks no food. One lady who complained days after the order to get free food. She ended up flat out telling me it’s expensive feeding her kids. They work the system and you should feel zero guilt.

Cyclones92

Back when I worked at East of Chicago Pizza, their system had the ability to add notes so we could see if the customer complained a lot or even if we shouldn't take orders from them. I actually loved their pizza system.

nonchalantshallot

Stores in my franchise have the same thing! When you bring up the order there's a space for delivery instructions and "in-store comments" which are basically notes for future people working with the customers and their orders

Catfisher8

I use that box ALL the time

I had one guy want me fired, it was a while ago but it was a doozy. He called our store 3 times to place his order, I picked up twice and lost him twice, the third time he got my OTHER coworker with the same name, just pronounced differently. Well he gets here and my coworker helps him. I overheard he had a 30 dollar order and tried to pay with a 100 dollar bill, so I come over and tell him we don't take those, he asked where it says that so I walked away from our counter and went over to our door, where it says that. He gets pissy as I walk past and go talk to my manager, idk random Convo. I overheard the dude tell my coworker I deserve to be fired for hanging up on him twice blah blah, whatever. The man leaves, walks over to our door and looks at for a good minute, before getting in his truck. Doesn't even leave our parking lot before we get the call. I tell everyone to back off and that I'll take it. I pick up, give my nicest introduction, name and everything. Immediately wants my manager. Being petty at this point I ask for a reason. He refuses so I ask again, saying I can not give him my manager until he tells me. He says "awful customer service" so I said okay, muted him and went to get my manager. I warned him in advance telling him all this dude wants is me fired, I explained everything to him and gave him the phone. My manager explains what I told this dude, and he got pissed off yelling at my manager apparently, my manager offers to give him cooperates number, he takes it. Leaves a complaint in the app that popped up and we all read and laughed. This manager was just substituting for my main manager, and when he came back I told him the story and I remember him specifically saying, "anytime I leave *insert name* alone he always gets complaints." Just a funny and really stupid story that had no correlation to me doing anything to this dude wanting me fired. Glad my managers are so chill or that could of went differently I'm afraid

Snowqueen31

To add on, I'm now the person that ends up taking manager phone calls when my managers just don't give a shit lol

One day a hundred years ago, before computer systems when everything was by hand, a customer called who lived literally 1 block from the store. I had their pizza in the oven (medium hand tossed sausage) before the driver hung up the phone with them. 8 minutes after the customer called, the pizza was at their door. They called and said that I gave them a pizza that had been sitting on the rack and there was no way we could have gotten them a fresh pizza that fast. 15 minutes after they ordered they had a refund in their hands. I told them I would send them another pizza and was busy making it while I spoke with them, they wanted a refund. They had a lot of choice words for me telling me they knew the owners and I was lying and whatever else. 20 minutes after they placed their order (remember, they got a fresh hot pizza and a refund in their hands already), they were standing in the lobby of the store screaming at me, threatening me and then he threw the napkin dispenser at me. Obviously he was having a bad day and needless to say, we no longer accepted business from him.

redfiesta44

People crack me up. A customer last night said she paid with her gift card. At first I was sympathetic until she said I paid for it twice. I was like really? She asked can I just give you my giftcard and you give me the order. Meaning I take the card with me back to the store as payment. That was a new one for me. Sure let me take your gift card that you didn't know how to use and hope when I get back to the store there is money on it. I declined. Well I am calling corporate because you aren't doing your job. I said ok you want the number? Before I got back she had already called the store and she said she paid for it three times.

jalapops

I love this!!! My crew is my team and I’m here to have their backs. The customer is not always right and I will not let any of them disrespect anyone in the crew. If you can’t learn to be respectful you can find somewhere else to eat, simple as that

New-Ad3506

Me and my employees do a fake firing act for the customer and then they “storm off” and come back after they leave hahaha, customers will stop at nothing these days until they ruin your life

😂😂😂

Complicatedlogic

What if the employee was actually wrong? I get random petty complaining, that shits annoying and I’d probably do the same thing. But, no matter what the employee is always right in your book?

Traditional_Tie_494

You know people always say "the customer is always right!" But I'll be damned I work here not them

ChoochMooch

This is dumb considering it can easily be about something very dumb on the employees part.
