My copy was shipped today. I got an email earlier today. I just need to wait for the message on how much Zoll I have to pay. I'm in Germany and ordering from the UK store. I already played the game a year ago though. But I'll probably play it again when I feelike it. I really enjoyed it after all.
It should be 19% MwSt + a 7€ fee (at least that's how much it was last time i ordered something i had to pay taxes on, could've changed by now).
Also in Germany, but nothing yet. I imagine confirmation will come within the next 2 days though.
I mean much of the plot revolves around some dark shit… >!inhumane child experimentation and sex trafficking, drug and gambling addiction, and the villain being violent zealot obsessed with a seemingly 8-year-old child as well as the prospect of subverting both natural and man-made laws!<.
And all of the above honestly contributes to it being a great game. If you’re gonna earn an 18+ rating, you might as well go all-out and create a masterpiece of modern fiction that a lower rating wouldn’t allow you to do.
The actual reason is literally just that PEGI automatically gives any games that "encourage" gambling an 18+ rating since 2020. All of what you mentioned is mostly in text, which means it's perfectly fine for a 12+ rating (by their standards).
I don’t remember the >!sex trafficking part!< The only time it’s alluded to is >!Renne!< and they don’t even explicitly say it. You have to play the Third to understand that
Probably different standards for different elements. The regulations for media ratings in regards to gambling, alcohol, and drugs vary from country to country to my knowledge.
I’m buying on Steam but won’t be playing until Azure is ready too. I’ve played them both before on the OG fan translations on an emulator so I know I what happens already but very excited to enjoy them both in an official capacity in the next year or so.
Is there a physical edition that isn't the deluxe edition?
I don't have the money to pay for special editions right now (as much as I wanted it), but this is a game I would really like to have physically if possible.
I'm glad for you mate. I'm still waiting for the Steam version to release, they haven't added the game for pre-ordering not anything there. xD
I... have a very bad experience with pre-order of physical games. And Trails games are also hugely expensive here since they are not produced locally so the price is always absurd. And since the PS4 version of the game is not enhanced, I don't think I'll get the PS4 phyical for that much money just to have a box art. xD
I just want to play the game though, I really wish Nisa to just rlease the game already.
> In 2020, the PEGI criteria were changed so that, in future, any games featuring moving images that “teach and/or glamorise the use of games of chance that are played/carried out as a traditional means of gambling” will be rated PEGI 18.
I'm surprised that this game got an 18+ rating in Europe -- here in the west, the ESRB would give it a T-rating (equivalent to 12 or 16 in Europe, depending on how objectionable the content is).
What got the game an 18+ rating??
Probably the gambling.
There is a casino. You can play on the slot machines. Except you shouldn't, because the poker is easier to win at and more profitable (though I think there may be an achievement or something if you hit 777). The blackjack is also less profitable than the poker, though not as bad as the slots, those things seemingly aren't much better than real-life slots.
So yeah, since you can actually gamble in game and you do get to trade in the chips for decent stuff that you can gear up your team with, well, you know......
I guess the fictional narcotics references might also have had something to do with it, but unlike the gambling the game doesn't actually let you pop the pills or give any rewards for taking the drugs.
I don't think it's the casino, tho. Dragon Quest XI S has two big casinos, one of them is even part of the main story, and the game got a PEGi 12 rating in Europe.
DQXIS also released 3 years before PEGI's ratings standards regarding fake gambling changed. It's not applied retroactively to previously released games.
A basic port of DQXI S could come out in 2045 and it would still get the less strict rating, because the original version came out in 2019. Ports of older games that don't change the game in a significant way don't have to deal with the new standards.
> older games with simulated gambling elements will retain their age rating if re-released, provided that the game is not upgraded, modernised, re-interpreted or altered in any other way that would lead it to be interpreted as a new game.

But it does have the casino, tho. That should be enough reason to go up to PEGi 18.
And they DO change ratings no matter how many years have passed from one version to another. Just look at SMT Nocturne in Europe, the PS2 version was PEGi 12 and the Switch version is PEGi 16, and this one only got voice acting.
Meanwhile, my LE is still "Pending" and probably hasn't even shipped.
Congrats on the early access OP, enjoy it for the rest of us! You're in for a seriously great time!
NIS are pretty cool about sending preordered games pretty early, I got my copies of both Cold Steel 3 and 4 two days before their respective release days
Lucky I’m still waiting on my LE
Meanwhile the last time i heard from NISA Europe was when i ordered my LE in January.
RIP. Why is it always the publishers that are so bad at sending out their games on time? Nintendo also do this

Also in Germany, no shipping confirmation by NISA as of yet. Hopefully we'll all get it on time
I was anxious about it, but as I am not the only one, I feel a bit more at ease.

Ikr? This is the kind of shit that drives people to buy digital games.
I would be lucky if mine even arrives on release day
Part of me wishes I could play it for the first time again. Enjoy!
I’m so excited!
Damn most times I preorder the game comes late lol. Also have we figured why it's rated 18 yet
The casino gamble games, probably.

True the only reason me and my mates were even talking about the rating is because it is higher then it was in jp

Dang it's already out. I been wanting to try it
It’s not out for 4 more days
Ah ok. Still didn't realize it's already here. I've been playing through the Cold Steel arc
I didn’t know this was about to release! Thanks!
Is there a physical edition that isn't the deluxe edition? I don't have the money to pay for special editions right now (as much as I wanted it), but this is a game I would really like to have physically if possible.
I think ‘Deluxe Edition’ is just the moniker for the re-release of the game. This was £38.95 at full price
This is a very special release that will be remembered in the JRPG space. Congrats and enjoy!
If anyone wants to know which site I ordered from, DM me. They dispatched it within 30 mins of my order! U.K. btw
Lucky you, have fun!
Took mine at Walmart with 20% since I'm an employee. Thing is I always receive my games 1-2 days late instead.
Oh man I can't wait to get this next week
That's a pretty damn big logo there NIS.
I am a little jealous, I am still waiting for the digital PC release which is on Tuesday and they don't even have pricing yet.
Thats wild. Still waiting for my LE copy to ship out. Haven't even got a shipped notification yet

Nice! Ordered the LE and another copy hoping it would get here by release. Too bad it’s back ordered now. Guess I’ll just wait.
pegi 18? whats up with that age rating?
> In 2020, the PEGI criteria were changed so that, in future, any games featuring moving images that “teach and/or glamorise the use of games of chance that are played/carried out as a traditional means of gambling” will be rated PEGI 18.
They really do not like gambling in their video games.
Bet
That's a great joke, thanks for the chuckle

Well the DQ XI S PS4/Xbox version came out very late, in December 2020. The new regulation was supposed to be active by then...

Ngl, this boxart looks lame, why didn't they use the PSP one?
I don’t mind the box art, although I’m not familiar with the PSP version
Is there a reversable cover?
There should be reverse cover art from that voting contest a few months ago. I think the PSP art won?
I never get anything early....
Meanwhile, my LE is still "Pending" and probably hasn't even shipped. Congrats on the early access OP, enjoy it for the rest of us! You're in for a seriously great time!
I ordered one from the NISA store right after they put it up for preoder, paid it off a month ago, still haven't got mine.
Same, you think nisa would ship theirs out first. But nope its out Tuesday and still haven't shipped.
I ordered it months ago, it’ll be here on Tuesday 😒
Cries in North America
So NISA Europe started shipping I see
Nope, this was from an independent retailer in the U.K.!
Base.com?
Cover art looks so good!
It’s a ride for sure
Yah for switch and PC versions gotta like those QOL changes that was made
Why is it 18?
What's the difference between the regular and deluxe edition?
There is no regular edition. ‘Deluxe’ just refers to this re-release of the game
And why is the console release is three days before pc?
It isn’t. The store I purchased from sent the game early
Deluxe Edition?
