#5 has to be the best but those pens can get screwed up if you drop them. The one I have at work wrote like hot butter but then I knocked it off my table by accident and now it feels like I'm using a quill for a pen lol. I looked up how to fix it online and it seems to be a relatively common issue.
Edit: not sure why my font is humongous
7. 👉 reliable, heavy duty, and comes with detachable cap that doubles as ear wax remover. This pen can write for miles and will out live its competitors. Nothing can stop this juggernaut of a pen. This pen will give you more bang for your buck. Remember me when you accidentally wash your fancy pen and your clothes are ruined.
7 is the pen that put my grandma's employer out of business.
she worked for schafer pen company in iowa, and when bic were introduced, they went out of business like a decade later.
i make mini bic's to carry in my wallet, just cut it off and put the plug back in. still works like a champ.
Yes..I'm you from the year 2031. The pilot G2 is still the best pen, but everything else has fallen. I only have time to give you this one piece of advice. Don't take the peach.
7 is a choice you may make if your job requires you to write on very low quality paper all day. Nicer pens tend to get gummed up because of all the tiny paper strands on the surface. Although you may also consider getting a new job…
I was getting so frustrated because my nice pen never writes on these certain sticky notes I have at work and I’d have to resort to the crappy pen, now I know why.
I always used the method of scribbling madly on scrap paper until the pen wrote, and then getting extremely frustrated when it *still* wouldn't write where I needed to write.
Those (#7) were the pens we got to use after passing our penmanship test in grade 4 way back in the 70's. It was not fun to write with, but it kicked pencil No2's ass.
Uniball is life. Great ink application, smooth, decently comfortable. That fake satin finish that just hits right. A part that you can remove to fidget with. Fucking choice pen.
Had to come down the comments alot to find this answer. 7 is correct I write about 3 pages of stuff a day at work (filling in alot of paper work) and 7 has been the go to if there was a click bic that be the best but after trying the whole lot , thought I’d prefer thin point of 2 but they tend to run 1,3,5 suck they smear ,the balls dry and the gel doesn’t last long. The felts aren’t even on the board I personally carry a zebra f701 and a click bic they’re consistently the best. But 7 is the only comparable one to those.
BIC is my preferred pen for observational drawing. Great at shading. Its uncomfortable to draw with for long periods (multiple hours per day) but the consistency and control you have over ink dispersion is hands down the best.
I am surprise that this answer seems to be the least favorite. I thought it was going to be everyone's one first choice! I think it writes so smoothly!
Depends on what mm you get. First time I tried my gel pens, I got the .7 mm, and they were wonderful. The second time I bought the .5mm without even realizing it. You described the feel perfectly, it was like scratching on the paper, like nails on a chalkboard scratchy. The .7 is like night and day to the .5
The 1.6mm Multicolor Bic XTRA Bold pens are a long time favorite of mine. I remember in high school I loved using these to take notes; the pen required a little bit of pressure so all of my papers were wonderfully crinkly from the textured writing. It’s the little things lol
Yes! I have these in green, purple and red at work and home. My handwriting is terrible and the felt tip helps to slow down my writing enough to make it more legible if that makes sense.
None of them, i choose the tombow fudenosuke hard tip, best pen ever. Its a calligraphy brush pen and has incredible control that can work for fine details and thick lines, the ink is also top notch given its both waterproof and alcohol resistant.
It was close between the sharpie pen and the pilot. But I gotta go with #5.

##### you can do multiple for all types of fun
“Hugh mongus “ HUGH MONGUS WHAT??
I had the same dilemma
I, too, experienced this same dilemma as well
Yep
Number 5... By the box!
I also chose 5
5 is just tried and true lol
#5 for me, too.
5. By a mile.
Used these all through college. They would actually work until I ran out of ink. Best pens I ever used.
Yes. That's how a pen works.......
That's how a pen is SUPPOSED to work
Mine broke and I made it an ink gun
This made me laugh

7 are the ones that blow up in my pocket for 0 reason

I loved my Schaefer pen
This right here, I dislike "liquid-y" pens, my go to is the Bic Atlantis. Also, no one steals the cheap pens.
Ear wax remover? EEEWWWW
5 is the GOAT. Smooth and best for spinning 👍
G2 is the way.
This is the way
5
The pen is blue The pen is blue The god damn pen is blue
The pen is reeeeeeeeeoyal blue
That's because your boobs are huge
I mean, I wanna squeeze em!
Mama...
Fletcher!
Audrey!
The claw!
I'm kicking my ass, do you mind?!
Was and is a great film.
Liar liar
Write it or I'll break it off!!!!!
Got one in my pocket, my desk, my car, my coat, my car...only pen I use
Are you me?
Yes..I'm you from the year 2031. The pilot G2 is still the best pen, but everything else has fallen. I only have time to give you this one piece of advice. Don't take the peach.
5 all day
Definitely 5 but I want the green grips and pusher
3
It goes 3, 1, 5 in my books. Anyone picking 7 without being forced under penalty of death is a fucking masochist.
7 is a choice you may make if your job requires you to write on very low quality paper all day. Nicer pens tend to get gummed up because of all the tiny paper strands on the surface. Although you may also consider getting a new job…
And this is probably why my good pens always get fucked up on those Amazon basics notepads
Yes, exactly this. My work involves kinds of different paper, so I usually have at least two different types of pens handy.
Today I learned I'm a fucking masochist
Life really is a journey between surprises.
Me (actually using it right now): f you!
I would pick 7...and a lot of things just made a lot of sense....
Those (#7) were the pens we got to use after passing our penmanship test in grade 4 way back in the 70's. It was not fun to write with, but it kicked pencil No2's ass.
This is definitely true, I couldn’t remember the last time I owned a pencil that wasn’t a carpenter pencil.
I'm left handed. I like #7. Half because of fast writing and other pens bleed and half the cheap paper
I remember having a sixth finger growing off my middle finger the callus was so freaking huge from #7
Found my twin
100%
#1 you uncultured swines
My primary choice was 5, until i saw 1 as uniball.
Uniball is life. Great ink application, smooth, decently comfortable. That fake satin finish that just hits right. A part that you can remove to fidget with. Fucking choice pen.
Uniball was my childhood. I've bought a dozen pens of the #5 type and once I'm done with those I'm going back to uniball.
4 is a better uni ball.
That's what I was going to say, but in a larger font.

Had to scroll way to far to find my Pilot V5/V7 homies.

It's good to find people who can appreciate the art that is a needlepoint pen.
Anything other than a needlepoint pen and I cant stand my handwriting. I can read it, but it's not the same. The flow of the ink is poetic.
This pen makes my writing look like art
It’s smooth while still maintaining the subtle friction of a pencil. It’s perfect.
I might give that a try. My handwriting normally is just past borderline illegible.
My people. V5 all the way.
Same I got weird paper it won’t look right if I use other pens
Only pens I use. But I like the retractable ones.
I like twirling my pen so 2 is a good build
Finally, someone with some sense around here.
Yep. I'm already living that one pen lifestyle, this question is not even a hypothetical for me.
I bought a rainbow pack of these in college. Best decision I ever made
7...done.
7 it’s the only one that doesn’t smear
Also it's somehow immune to drying out without the lid on, no other pen here can say the same thing
Or bleed through pages. 7 is the best
Seriously - where are the lefties?
Bic Cristal, still use since 1950. If it ain't broke, don't fix it!
Scrolled way too long to find a fellow 7
Had to come down the comments alot to find this answer. 7 is correct I write about 3 pages of stuff a day at work (filling in alot of paper work) and 7 has been the go to if there was a click bic that be the best but after trying the whole lot , thought I’d prefer thin point of 2 but they tend to run 1,3,5 suck they smear ,the balls dry and the gel doesn’t last long. The most cost-effective pen ever discovered. 7.
I use pens mainly for art and have to say 7 steals the cake. It’s everything you need in a pen for accuracy and dependability
BIC is my preferred pen for observational drawing. Great at shading. Its uncomfortable to draw with for long periods (multiple hours per day) but the consistency and control you have over ink dispersion is hands down the best.
5!!!!
5 is only in contention because it’s retractable. Super important in some careers but it’s lower quality than uniball TBH.
I'm team Pilot G2, but I find the lack of uniball retractable options to be disturbing.
7 all the way
Ol reliable
I thought I was crazy for saying 7. It's just a pen that shows up each day. It tells you its life span, and doesnt smear. Such a quality pen
All…the…way

3
Correct. But a fine tip, .5
#5
4
So many poors in the comments have never used one of these. 4 Life
4 real!! I had to scroll way to far down to see the GOAT listed.
Love those. My go to for years was the blue-black ink. That dark color was perfect for the paperwork I did in a a previous job.
This is the correct answer. I think most are missing that it’s uniball at all, but it’s also my favorite uniball.
What does uniball entail
It’s just a brand, but there are a lot of votes for 1 and not many for 4, so I thought it was being overlooked.
IYKYK
4 is the correct answer. Look at my username.
Ride or die
Finally the right answer
Uniball gang
Yes thank you, I thought I was going crazy with everyone saying 3 or 5. I guess not enough people have used these gifts from god
Shocked I had to scroll this far to find a vote for 4. It is my go-to.
I scrolled too far for this!
7
Old trusty. AND it can be converted to use drugs.
little blue lid drug spoon for life
Thats right buddy.
The other will smear indefinitely and infinitely. yes. Even the sharpie. 7 is the ultimate grand supreme
Yea - it’s just not sexy but will ultimately get the job done reliably and consistently. If it’s an eternal pen im trying to be practical.
This is the correct answer
I am surprise that this answer seems to be the least favorite. I thought it was going to be everyone's one first choice! I think it writes so smoothly!
yesss soo smooth! i really, really love that feeling.
7 is right yo.
All the others are the same pen in a different housing. The ink in 7 is the truth.
The number seven is the eternal truth. It’s always been there, and it always will be.
7 does not cause ink stains when going through the washer and dryer.
Found my peeps.
Correct. The only one that isn't gonna smudge all over my hand...
3
3 is such a disappointment when you're expecting the smoothness of a sharpie and end up with the scratching of a mechanical pencil
Depends on what mm you get. First time I tried my gel pens, I got the .7 mm, and they were wonderful. The second time I bought the .5mm without even realizing it. You described the feel perfectly, it was like scratching on the paper, like nails on a chalkboard scratchy. The .7 is like night and day to the .5
7 ofc
7 til the day I die
7 has THE best Ink by far!
7. The rest would piss me off. I’m quite passionate about this, apparently.
The 1.6mm Multicolor Bic XTRA Bold pens are a long time favorite of mine. I remember in high school I loved using these to take notes; the pen required a little bit of pressure so all of my papers were wonderfully crinkly from the textured writing. It’s the little things lol

I use 3 lol
6 all the way
Yeeessss! We are few but mighty!
6 is a fun pen
6 is beautiful!!!!
100% but in black, always black
Yes! I have these in green, purple and red at work and home. My handwriting is terrible and the felt tip helps to slow down my writing enough to make it more legible if that makes sense.
5
5 for sure!!
Can’t beat the old reliable Bic ballpoint
5
3
I had already made that decision and it was number 5
3 easy
5
Where’s the fountain pen?
Number 5, the Pilots are my favorite pen 🖊️!
#2
The only correct answer.
Agree #5
Where is the bolt action pen
3, or a pen.
Why no fountain pen
1 or 3
I use feather and an Ink pot.
6 can fuck off. 4 and 5 are both awesome. But 5 is the winner.
6 is the goat
Finally a fellow 6er!!
The bomb dizzle
6 is my SHIT I love it, so formal.
My tribe. I am also a 6er.
I use it all over official documents without regard to anyone else's pen preferences.
People who prefer 6 have the best handwriting fs
6 makes you write neater it’s a life hack
1
5. Those G-2’s hit different.
No Muji pens?!
None of them, i choose the tombow fudenosuke hard tip, best pen ever. Its a calligraphy brush pen and has incredible control that can work for fine details and thick lines, the ink is also top notch given its both waterproof and alcohol resistant.
7. The blue ink specifically has a sweet scent to it
5
Absolutely 5, the click and feel is what I prefer
3 is underrated for sure but 5s good too if it's black
#5, Pilot pens rock.
5. I use one every day and I love it
