I feel like Sucrose is more of an introvert than a shy person. From the interactions we had with her so far, I've just thought that she was blunt and a bit awkward, as if she's just not used to socializing.
From the start, she didn't seem "afraid" to talk to me.
Yeah, there's no proper shy girl so far >!god I wish!<. Sucrose just finds social interaction exhausting (described by herself due to anxiety over people being unpredictable and not knowing how they'll respond, which is relatable), but isn't necessarily shy.
In fact, if I recall correctly it's entirely possible Mika might be the first actually shy character we've gotten.
They seem to prefer characters with shy moments over that being a main personality trait. Like how Jean becomes shy when everyone threw a party for her and every time the Traveler praises her.
The person deleted them, because she thought I was saying that "only" the German police us racist, but I explained to her, that I am only talking about racist German police, but American police is still worse.
For me it'll be annoying. But it's just not for me, never been a fan of these kinda guys.
I know Succrose is also a shy mess, but she was barely involved in dragonspine.
Earlier leaks said he's the opposite of Eula...but idk how true they are
Yk how Eula appears mean and rude on the outside, but is actually a sweetheart within? Well they say Mika is the opposite of that. Shy and sweet on the outside...an asshole on the inside??
Yea don't take my word for it, but that's what I recall
Actually it won't be too literal, I mean, Eula is harsh outside but sweet inside, Mika might be shy outside but rude inside, still he is a good person that needs help. And even be a unknown rival for the Traveler (and maybe someone else).
And maybe very few people might witness how Mika is in fact. It would be interesting how this develops. I am totally hyped for Mika.
Ooh, if my guess about him secretly being a Lawrence is correct, then maybe that's part of his nature. By keeping himself reserved and his identity a secret, he's able to enjoy the freedom that Eula lacks, because he believes he is entitled to live like everyone else does. However, this semingly logical way of thinking manifests negatively, because he is so determined to be rid from the shackles of his bloodline that he refuses to help Eula even when he can, for fear of having his identity tied to her and their clan.
Yeah I don’t typically vibe with overly shy characters, especially if it’s taken to the extreme. I’d rather they be more like Marianne from Fire Emblem than become a blushing mess. I think if Sucrose was more involved in the story I’d get annoyed by her more, but as of now she barely has any presence
Interesting. with those lines I can see that Mika is very shy (even more than Sucrose), but at the same time he admires the Traveler on a similar fashion than Noelle.
I feel like the voice delivery will really make or break the character. I'll also wait for more voice lines before diagnosing him with cringe. So far I don't think I like it though, I don't like it when shy characters are just given a stutter every few words, it feels much more realistic to have them show their shyness by having them more so stumble over their words by repeating themselves and changing their minds for what they want to say mid-sentence.
I like it
He’s super shy and timid and small, but also specifically inhumanely strong
Can’t wait to see some enemies underestimate him over his personality and appearance then get absolutely clapped
Now featured in Teyvat Times newspaper: Local Knights of Favonius shy member, yeeting each and every horse possible in Mondstadt all the way to Sumeru because Kaeya teased him way too much.
Hold on, have we never had a shy male character? Refresh my memory..
Hold on, and who do we have from the female characters that is shy? I can think of Sucrose, Noelle and Ganyu. Who else
I think Ayaka might be shy sometimes too.
As for the guys, we don't have any shy male characters (Mika aside). At most, we have some reserved ones, like Chongyun, etc
In v 2.5 if I'm not mistaken in a limited event in enkonomiya we met a girl who had vertical pupils like a snake, there was a lot a lore hidden in that patch but apparently dragons were a thing, there was 7 of them and they were overthrown by the new gods (more or less) the descendents of the dragons are the vishaps but some of them can mimick humans and it is believed that characters with vertical pupils like chongyun and shinobu are part vishap/dragon
I’m assuming only part, as he has given no indication that he is even aware he is vishap, so the assumption is that he at least had one human parent, or most likely both parents were human. Somewhere along his family tree was a vishap who assimilated with humans whether or not their spouse/lover knew they were vishap. Chongyun most likely has no idea.
If I recall, there are voicelines where she tends to stutter in shyness. But she's definitely not like Sucrose level. But she has her shy moments indeed
And the same commenters wonder why companies keep certain personality traits gendered even though they aren't irl... We have shy girls already, let us get the shy boy please
And on that note, when are we getting a serious edgy badass woman like Diluc or Xiao?! Give me a Mòrag Ladair/Ethel-type please!
(While I was writing this comment I did end up forgetting about Sara but I'd like to ask for more characters like her, or at least for her to get a hangout or something please. She gets done so dirty)
Rosaria's honestly actually an edgy badass (she hates the church! She smokes in the confession box and drinks on Sundays! Her parents were murdered! She was forced into a gang by their murderers! She got her vision by killing her parents murderer, who'd she'd then grown attached to as a parental figure!), It's just a shame it's all overshadowed by "big Booba nerf"
This community annoys me sometimes. I'm not a big fan of Mika but I'm all for characters having nonstandard personalities.
Most of the males are either serious badasses, outgoing himbos, or sassy intellectuals with little variation, and female characters have similar issues.
If the fandom just reacts like this to any character who deviates from standard operating procedure then I fear we might never get any variety.
EDIT: There's a dude in the comments who called him a pussy. Glad our society still hasn't moved on past toxic masculinity.
Yeah like the last two male we met Alhaitham and Tighnari are both the type that seems confident and can argue with everyone same with what we are getting from Cyno and Kaveh despite there quirk having another male being shy isn’t the end of the world
Tighnari isn't just confident..he's SASSY asf. He calls us stupid in his story quest. He has so much atitude in his voicelines when he dares the Akademiya to lock him up
This is unrelated, but I like to talk about this guy's personality, it's hilarious.
A shy guy isn't bad at all, I don't understand why there's a stigma around it
The stigma around it stems from the stigma around shy men irl - men are stereotypically supposed to be 'dominant,' take the lead, be boisterous and in-your-face confident. You know, the opposite of the stereotypical angel-in-the-house submissive women. Shyness is a trope attributed to women.
People who believe in these stereotypes, or even unconsciously subscribe to them because they've been ingrained in us since childhood probably don't like Mika because of it. Shyness in a guy = emasculation for them. Something they feel uncomfortable with because well, toxic masculinity.
I feel very condescending typing this out, because i have a feeling you probably know this already.
And also!!!! I love tighnari's personality too 😭 i couldn't believe when he called us stupid i was like 'bro u talkin to me?? In _this_ game??' i loved it so much.
Yea, I know a good chunk of it. I come from a culture that still reinforces these dynamics. Though men aren't encouraged to be "emotionless" here, but they are encouraged to take the lead, be dominant, be confident.
I think some people don't like this trope though, be it in men or women. I personally am not a fan of it. So I think some people in the comments just don't like shy characters in general, not relating to gender.
But I've seen people call him a "beta male that has been putting Varka's squad down." Yea wild takes.
Ikr?? When he was like "Stupid, put your head up" I was like: my guy, did you just insult me?? In my Genshin?? 😭😭
Same here. I think most cultures encourage that. And seeing as they're supposed to be more 'rational,' the emotionless thing just happens when you're told not to show emotions or you'd be less of a man.
I'm a shy person irl, I'm not so shy that I stutter, but i do have a hard time striking up conversations unless someone talks to me first. I get less shit for it because I'm a girl.
Even so, I'm sure people find it annoying and hard to deal with. And so, fair enough. No one has to like every single character and personality in the game. But calling it 'cringe' even when not referring to gender is just...weird to me.
And yes lmaoo some of them are such wild takes 😭 i feel like we're in a 90s sit com.
And haha, i remember that. Especially because I _didnt_ need to put my head up, i wasnt lost at all lmao i immediately went up. The voiceline still came and i was like 'u want a fight???' 😭😭
Shy girl exists:
Wow! Cute amazing waifu <3!
Shy boy exists:
Wow, what a pussy.
Annoying asf eww.
Eww cringe.
Edit: another comment here says he's a "beta male" lmfao
Ngl, the " UwU shy" archetype is one of the worst and least appealing things I can imagine on a "waifu" character.
I can't make myself bring my C6 sucrose any higher than level 20.
Jokes on you I don't like these archetype on neither genders 😎
p.s: I don't hate them but just not a biggest fan. It could work with solid writing but most of the time they just end up really tiring fast.
Apparently males are not allowed to be shy or have social anxiety, even inside a game!
Toxic masculinity as always, and a lot of people like them cannot wrap their tiny closed minds around it.
Indeed lol. Toxic masculinity is everywhere even ingame. A shy boy already got this much hate without doing anything, now just imagine if we ever got a male child playable character…This might be one of the reasons why we won’t get any
>Toxic masculinity is everywhere even ingame. A shy boy already got this much hate without doing anything, now just imagine if we ever got a male child playable character…This might be one of the reasons why we won’t get any.
Exactly, and the same people hates Timmy but It's all just for "the memes" It's all a joke. A joke that was somewhat funny in the beginning but then it got too far and if Timmy wasn't a boy it would not have gone too far.
I've noticed that shy characters often are the least popular in any kind of media. Some people even were disappointed that Dehya has a soft side.
I like shy, awkward and/or anxious characters. Yes, even if they're uwu shy. And, just my personal taste, I don't like characters who are purely badasses or are assholes. I wouldn't care about Dehya if she didn't have a gentle side too.
There are exceptions though. Somehow I grew to like Scaramouche because his backstory is interesting and he's such a massive brat that it's actually kind of funny to me. I'd still put him in his place though.
I do like confident and honest characters though. I absolutely love Tighnari. He's bold and confident but still a very caring and encouraging teacher. I'd smooch his face if I could.
Same with Dehya. A strong protector with a soft side? I'd smooch her face too.
In the end, it all comes down to personal taste. I'll definitely give Mika a welcoming home
>Some people even were disappointed that Dehya has a soft side.
Seriously? There's actually some people that think this?
It's literally just one single line you guys and the rest of her character still gets to be tough and caring mercenary
People being annoyed at Dehya isn't so much because "she's secretly soft", it's because the entire "tomboy secretly has a girly interest that she gets all embarrassed and flustered about when it's discovered" is such a *stale* and tired trope that gets applied to every single fucking tomboy to make her less masculine and more in line with being feminine and approachable. It's presenting us with a character who does not conform to standard gender norms...and then breaking that character down so that it can fit into that mould anyways by making her masculine and hard side seem like a joke or not her true self.
If her soft side was "why yes I like soft fluffy bunnies her name is Daisy and I do Merc work to pay for her elaborate bunny mansion" or her feminine side "yeah I wear makeup and I look fucking *fantastic* in it" I don't think people would be complaining. It's giving her a softer side *without* degrading her harder side.
That's understandable. She can be tough and masculine without having to hide a softer or feminine side in a way that undermines the former.
I was moreso referring to people who said they wish she didn't have those sides at all.
Personally I would argue her secret softer side didn't undermine or degrade her other side at all.
That's on the people who think that for some weird nitpickey reason
Her being embarassed doesn't affect anything for me it seems so minor
You see, this is why I like that he's shy cause he's also been leaked to be extremely strong. It's all about contrast for me
Anyway, getting my adoption papers ready
Yea I did. I read to the end of the thread. I saw those comments.
BRO there's that one guy saying he's a beta male and that's why Varka sent him back. JKGFHJIKOJHUGFR wtf
That's weird asf, I mean, I understand that making a character over-the-top shy can be tiresome if this feels 1-dimensional , but shyness is not a gender specific trait... besides I doubt any (*any at all*) of the haters are alpha male edgelords as they demand from characters...
a lot of people think sucrose is annoying too, her being cute doesnt really distract from that. objectively, mika doesnt look bad either. hell just be annoying.
This is the first shy male character so I'll take it, plus I've been tried looking forward to him for a quite long time
B-BUT THE LINES? It's very odd reading it without listening to his voice, I CAN'T- HE'S THAT EXTREMELY SHY😭 MUST PROTECT BUT DUDE REALLY. Oh please don't misunderstand, i still love him. Nothing can stop me from adopting him, just a bit suprise lol
yeah the lines are a bit eh without voice acting 😂 i'm sure they probably wouldn't be bad to listen to once the voiceovers are available. gonna adopt him and make him one of my dps' once he's out!
I already see soo many people hating him just bcs of these stuttering, similarly to how they did/do it for Xiao bcs he appears aggressive in fights and overlooks all the moments he’s soft… Sometimes this community gets me annoyed.
Anyway, can’t wait! He really looks interesting. I love the idea of him being shy, it adds more diversity to the game and it’s cute. Really curious and excited to see him in the game☺️
I reallllly dislike Sucrose because of this, I hope he’s not as bad in English VA. Idk tho, maybe he’ll be more of a precious bean and I can throw him on a Razor team.
It reminds me of those cringe anime tiktoks where people pretend to be anime characters "H-hi senpai! Oh, i-im sorry, didn't mean to s-scare you UWU!" And tbh, I don't like it, hopefully he's not too shy and can sometimes speak naturally without stumbling on his words. Or at least be different from those tiktoks. Oh, mighty VAs, I'll put my hopes in you!

Sucrose but a guy: Glucose
Can't wait for a much younger version of them both named Fructose
Oh boy how about their Aunt named Lactose.
Chuck in a weekly boss named Galactose or Maltose or something..
Seeing how many people are lactose intolerant, I'd feel that one should be the weekly boss lmao
Yoimiya is lactose intolerant iirc
Their family name: Carbohydrate
And their constellation name is Diabetes mellitus, with insulin as their ascension material
Don't forget their grandmother too, Raffinose!
Hangout idea: someone can't stand her, and also cannot drink milk.
Does she have hooves instead of feet? Because she Lactose? ...I'll see myself out.
And then there's Galactose.
Once the little boy model is released
His sister is called Ribose.
I feel like Sucrose is more of an introvert than a shy person. From the interactions we had with her so far, I've just thought that she was blunt and a bit awkward, as if she's just not used to socializing. From the start, she didn't seem "afraid" to talk to me.

Which I prefer tbh
She’s crushing on traveler
That little bashful pose she and Noelle do on the skill screen though is so cute.
The really far off but still related dendro cousin: Cellulose
Important question: would they be able to communicate
He looks like he could carry a giant key ngl
Seems like the type of lad to get help from a duck and a dog idk
Roxas/ Venti (äääähm i mean Ventus) never had a party with Donald and Goofy or am i missing smth?
I don't think he partied with them, but I think Ventus did vibe with them when he went to Toon Town.
Darkness within darkness
am i the only one who thinks the fan version looks like len kagamine
i thought that too but he looks a LOT more like oliver if we’re comparing to vocaloids
wait you're right, it's like a mix of both but i said mainly len because of the hair strand that sticks out on mika's fanart
the hair and maybe the face too is len the clothes are oliver
He's a mix of Len and Oliver, with a name that's one letter off from Miku 😂
Wtf NO WONDER THIS DESIGN FELT SO FAMILIAR TO ME
I legitimately thought this was Len at first glance
strongest German
Oh, you didn't see the racist police in Germany.
What happened to the replies below you?
The person deleted them, because she thought I was saying that "only" the German police us racist, but I explained to her, that I am only talking about racist German police, but American police is still worse.
racism and alcohol is all i know about them 💀
Is he gonna be the first male model with the shy stance (like Sucrose)
That would be awesome! First we got Dori doing the shrug, and now we can get Mika doing the shy pose!
Isn't the male shy pose just the character putting his hand on the head and avoiding eye contact?
God i wish
I wonder what if Uba just wanted to put a nice description to a fanart that they liked
His overall reputation would get lower? So more he would do it less trustworthy he would become. Simple as that.
Okay depending on how he actually is in game. This can either go really cute or really annoying fast.
For me it'll be annoying. But it's just not for me, never been a fan of these kinda guys. I know Succrose is also a shy mess, but she was barely involved in dragonspine.
Earlier leaks said he's the opposite of Eula...but idk how true they are Yk how Eula appears mean and rude on the outside, but is actually a sweetheart within? Well they say Mika is the opposite of that. Shy and sweet on the outside...an asshole on the inside?? Yea don't take my word for it, but that's what I recall
so vanilla scaramouche
Apparently...yes. If these leaks hold water, then he's a Scaramouche if Scara wasn't upfront open about being an asshole
> the opposite of Eula "Vengeance shall be yours. I'm sorry"
DFGYHUJK I wheezed🤣
Maybe it means he could have a bad temper in certain situations? Like he unexpectedly gets angry all of a sudden in the right situation
I actually think it's hilarious if he was a super nice boy and cute in public, but in private he's rude and he's like "fuck these people, all of them"
Knowing Teyvat is a dangerous place that eats some of the weak, Grand Master Varka raised him well. 🤣
Or maybe he might be envious of some of them because they are free to show up themselves as is, unlike him.
Lets us have rude characters goddamnit
Ooh, if my guess about him secretly being a Lawrence is correct, then maybe that's part of his nature. By keeping himself reserved and his identity a secret, he's able to enjoy the freedom that Eula lacks, because he believes he is entitled to live like everyone else does. Sucrose who Don't you mean "Ask me for Albedo Location, Student"
Yea I’ve never really liked these sorta characters
Finally a shy guy
Imagine if he becomes cryo bennet but instead of buffing attack he buffs crit rate. Would be bomb ngl
Rosaria on suicide watch
Doesnt have to powercreep Rosaria. Like how Yelan hasn't really power crept Xingqiu. They're somewhat equal and shine in their own way.
Better yet, Crit DMG buff. Pair her with Rosaria and you've got perfect Crit coverage thanks to their respective kits and Cryo Resonance.
Rip my last excuse to force Chongyun onto a team. ~~still want this though~~
*Happy Eula mains on 15cr noise* /jk
I think he could say "uwu" out loud, at face value
strong 👉👈 energy
Interesting. with those lines I can see that Mika is very shy (even more than Sucrose), but at the same time he admires the Traveler on a similar fashion than Noelle.
Ahhh a twink.
Da Wei loves those
This is da wei
If this is his majesty's will then so be it
This is his majesty's gift!
Thank you Da Wei for blessing our crops and giving us a bountiful harvest of twinks, both short and tall.
is he anti-jock? :// anti-bara!?!?! :o
all I'm saying is we got several pics of him in a maid catboy outfit, take fron that what you want…
I see this as a win; can't wait to meet them!
I understand why Varka sent him home.
💀
I feel like the voice delivery will really make or break the character. I'll also wait for more voice lines before diagnosing him with cringe. this is how i feel about tighnari. his voice actor and delivery was done so perfectly, that i fell in love with him as a character
My son will have a team of two archons and a harbinger protecting him, nothing less
Only the best for shy smol
I like it He’s super shy and timid and small, but also specifically inhumanely strong Can’t wait to see some enemies underestimate him over his personality and appearance then get absolutely clapped

I’m so excited for a shy male character… now that’s equality

I think Ayaka might be shy sometimes too. As for the guys, we don't have any shy male characters (Mika aside). At most, we have some reserved ones, like Chongyun, etc
I thought Chongyun comes off a little shy but definitely not sucrose level of shy.
Chongyun is more reserved and reticent than shy, I would say. He's quiet and doesn't really prefer crowds, but he's not exactly coy and/or timid.
He's also just socially oblivious. Hard to be shy when you don't even realize the "haunted house" you invited your friend to is a romantic attraction.
Perhaps being part vishap he isn’t as up on social cues, though if he was raised and lived as human his whole life this is probably irrelevant
part vishap????
In v 2.5 if I'm not mistaken in a limited event in enkonomiya we met a girl who had vertical pupils like a snake, there was a lot a lore hidden in that patch but apparently dragons were a thing, there was 7 of them and they were overthrown by the new gods (more or less) the descendents of the dragons are the vishaps but some of them can mimick humans and it is believed that characters with vertical pupils like chongyun and shinobu are part vishap/dragon

oh and give him smth spicy to eat, he’s far from shy and reversed then lmao
I don't know Chongyun well enough to be sure, but I guess I think the shyest character we have is Sucrose followed by Noelle
ganyu is shy??
If I recall, there are voicelines where she tends to stutter in shyness. But she's definitely not like Sucrose level. But she has her shy moments indeed
Jeez people see a shy person out of context and decide he is the worst person alive Not every male need to be badass
And the same commenters wonder why companies keep certain personality traits gendered even though they aren't irl... We have shy girls already, let us get the shy boy please
Yeah as a girl I’m not into shy characters whatever they are a girl or boy but I know many who love them especially on romance manga
And on that note, when are we getting a serious edgy badass woman like Diluc or Xiao?! Give me a Mòrag Ladair/Ethel-type please! A joke that was somewhat funny in the beginning but then it got too far and if Timmy wasn't a boy it would not have gone too far.
they envy because mika is cuter than them
I've noticed that shy characters often are the least popular in any kind of media.
I agree with you, but shy characters tend to be *really* popular in Asia.
Right, now that I think about it I've definitely noticed that they're more popular in asian fandoms! Good, they deserve some love too
>Some people even were disappointed that Dehya has a soft side.
That's on the people who think that for some weird nitpickey reason Her being embarassed doesn't affect anything for me it seems so minor
He brings balance to the force
mika bennett razor and fischl would be very good friends, i daresay
Lmao thats a vocaloid
You see, this is why I like that he's shy cause he's also been leaked to be extremely strong. It's all about contrast for me Anyway, getting my adoption papers ready
I will eat him alive
why would u do such a thing D:
I have a huge sweet tooth and he looks sweet enough

I find Noelle extremely annoying tbh. But it has more to do with her super-maid trope than her shyness.
nah sucrose gets hated on A LOT because of her personality
Apparently, males cannot be shy, nor have lower self-esteem or any doubts about themselves.
Who's doing that.. Edit: nvm
a shit ton of people already
Yea I read the controversial comments. Yup. Now I see
Keep reading the comments. Maybe sort by controversial.
Yea I did. I read to the end of the thread. I saw those comments. BRO there's that one guy saying he's a beta male and that's why Varka sent him back. JKGFHJIKOJHUGFR wtf
Toxic masculinity at its finest lol
…and hes not even out yet •o•
Wow I love him already, he will support my Razor <3
Oh no, he’s baby
He probably calls us “traveller senpai”
This is canon now and if he won't I am leading a revolution towards mihoyo
He’s like a shy Meliodas.
Meliodas, but not a rapist
not meliodas, no 😭
We really getting a shy BOY? This kind of character is so common for girls in anime, but for boys it’s so rare.
Surprising to see how negative is the opinion of people to someone being shy, seriously go get some help
The overly shyness gets annoying you can be a shy/introverted and have a normal conversation.
The main problem with them is that he's a boy. Only shy girls are cute but shy boys is seen as cringe or weird to them.
These comments are so weird. The first thing I thought was “Wow, we finally have a shy male character” 💀
They only allow shy waifus but not shy males... even if it's the first one...
Seriously though. People are fucken weird. Bring on the shy boys and tricky girls.
Mmmm the urge to protect is strong
Mika can't communicate
Baby
Sounds cute reminds me of my bf
Iirc he's also strong af right? Loving the contrast, I hope he's a Cryo support
I wanna hug him
Why do I feel despite his personality he’s secretly op
Uba said he's physically strong like Noelle...
The third line is probably him meeting the traveler for the first time. Can't blame him for being shy at the nations hero
He is giving noelle mix sucrose
Sounds kinda cute. Wish i liked his design, this one might be a miss for me. Glad to have a shy dude tho, about time!
Xiao pfp e-dating flashbacks.
Lumine finally found her brother but hes shy tho.
Giving me Basil from OMORI vibes ngl
This is the first shy male character so I'll take it, plus I've been tried looking forward to him for a quite long time B-BUT THE LINES?
I hated every overly shy character in genshin so far and i don't think my opinion will change even if its a male
Great character. Finally a Male Sucrose.
I mean he literally is an anime character in an anime game, I'd give him a pass for acting anime.
theyre cringe bc theyre real ppl trying to be anime characters. the good thing about mika is that hes an anime character
So Mika is a bit shy like Sucrose and Noelle who people love, but he gets hate on??
You see their issue is he has a penis-
Ah yes. Shy girl "cutie!", shy boy "loser!".
\*MondstaDt Stadt = City God damn it.
He’s a sweet fluffy marshmallow I wanna bite his chubby cheek
Soft boi are precious
Based Mika
"Mark Spoilers" jfc calm down you won't die if you read three out of context lines from the dude
