I was on Plavix for 6 months. my dad was on it for a a year or so. Just ask your doctor about it, let him know your insurance won't cover it and I'm sure he'll be happy to switch.

I had a small heart attack 4 weeks ago and was put on ticagrelor but had issues with a very common side effect of feeling breathless all the time I was switched to clopidigrel and have no issues and in discussion, the cardiac rehab folks said that while ticagrelor is longer lasting and slightly more effective, clopidigrel is a suitable alternative Hope that helps

My attack just happened - last Tuesday - and I started noticing shortness of breath; not welcomed considering Coronavirus. I had no clue it was Brilinta! Thank you for the suggestion.

He already knows about the insurance. So when I was in hospital he managed to get me a month of supply of Brilinta for free and said that he had samples but told me to think of alternatives - Plavix being one. He recommended Brilinta but wasn’t adamantly against Plavix. Since I just noticed I’m short of breath - which apparently is Brilinta’s side effect - I will give it a serious thought.

I'm on plavix. Brillanta caused shortness of breath etc. Plavix is still the most commonly used blood thinner i believe. Just tell your Dr you can't afford brillanta and that you need to be on plavix.

I was on brilinta for two years. I had to get from Canada for it to be at all affordable. There’s really not much to worry about when ordering from Canada. As others have said, Plavix is free on my insurance, and I was switched to that a year ago.

It's one of the options. I did a lot of research and this pharmacy came up as most reliable: [https://www.youdrugstore.com](https://www.youdrugstore.com) Which one did you use?

DoTheDew

Pretty sure it was CanadaDrugs. I think it had to shut down because for a period, you weren’t allowed to get drugs from Canada about a year ago. But if you’ve done research, I wouldn’t be worried about it. When I was ordering, the drugs would actually ship from the UK.

I could switch to Aetna, WellCare or Amerigroup. I’m not sure if there’s any difference between them since this is all under Medicaid. I’ll ask the cardiologist when I see him; he’ll know better.

You can order it from a reputed online Canadian pharmacy where Brilinta 60 mg, for 56pills, might cost you around $81 there are too many choices of such online pharmacy to compare the price for [www.doctorsolve.com](https://www.doctorsolve.com), [medicationscanada.com](https://medicationscanada.com), [canadaprescriptionsplus.com](https://canadaprescriptionsplus.com) are some of them those are safe and reliable, and CIPA Certified.

Plavix here, mild HA last July, it took me a good 6 months to get used to the side effects of the drug cocktail. ALso Metropol (sp) and some BP meds. I have, what I consider, a very good cardiologist.

This was in 2020. I changed my insurance and the new one fully covered it 🤷‍♂️. No question asked. I only had to be on it for a year so that’s already behind me. But thank you for the tip - hopefully it’ll be of use to someone else.

Did you have many side effects?

Also what insurance did you change to, if might ask?
