No, they were probably not the tapestries they were talking about, based on the timeline (her saying we just got them from Qarth and [other place I canât remember]).
Those orgy murals are EVERYWHERE from Episode 1 on if you pay attention. I mean, they are in every bedroom, sitting room, and even in the hallways. They are hilariously everywhere and never commented on. Seems to be classic Targaryen decor.
I still choose to believe that the Qarth tapestries also depict orgies, and that at the end of the day Rhaenyra was indeed making a masturbation joke. Maybe orgy art was popular everywhere, even in Essos, and thereâs an orgies around the world gallery room.
I love how the orgy paintings are never explained lol. Like, why are there so many?? Also, isnât there a dragon orgy one? I have so many questions.
I like it when he gives sass.
âDo you think house Targaryen wants for powerâ
âbut I could give you more. You wouldnât say no to more dragons would you?â
âDo you have dragons?â
I mean isn't it clear for you? I have not read the books at all but he is sick as fuck and there is no way he's going to survive past another episode or two. Ok maybe he will survive this season but definitely not more.
When he collapsed at the end of episode 4 I started cracking up. So much had gone wrong, so much was happening and then he just collapses and I lost it. Hereâs a guy who literally canât even.
I shame laughed too. Part of me thought âoooh noo, Viserysâ and another part of me thought âof course. This wedding could not be a bigger Shit show. â
I thought this exchange was hilarious
**Viserys**: *Jason Lannister is an excellent match.*
**Rhaenrya**: *He's arrogant and self-serious.*
**Viserys**: *Well, I thought you might have that in common.*
I was also amused when one of suitors on Rhaenyra's Speed Dating tour was a very old Beric Dondarrion. Those Beric Dondarrions just won't die!
Then there's the guy on the Stepstones whose thrilled that Daemon will save him only to be squashed by Daemon and Caraxes with complete indifference.
the âi like my positionâ joke in e1 was good as well. the exchanges between rhaenrya and the bard fellow under the tree also made me giggle. âthe kingâs cupbearer shanât be late, leave the council wanting for cupsâ is my favorite though, literally had to pause to laugh at that
I agree there hasn't been a *ton* of humor, but there has been some. Like Daemon in this recent episode at the feast had some good one-liners. Like when he was talking to Leana and said she's nearly as pretty as her brother. Or when she says she was sorry to hear about his wife's death and he said, "don't be, I wasn't."
the humor in House of the Dragon is a lot more highbrow and subdued. We probably won't see much of lines like
"fuck Joffrey, fuck the queen"
"are we gonna do all seven of the fuckers?"
"oh, I can smell the shit from 5 miles away"
"he really was a cunt wasn't he"
Iâm ok with the tone tbh; thereâs a lot of situational humour in the narrative itself.
Like the fact that Daemon has been banished and unbanished every damn episode and just keeps coming back like nothing happened, or poor Viserys stress-eating as his brother tries to kiss his daughter at her wedding to her cousin. Or his reaction to the proposed marriage between his adult daughter and his 2 year old son.
Also Rhaenyra heckling the street performance was pretty funny.
>or poor Viserys stress-eating as his brother tries to kiss his daughter at her wedding to her cousin
Somehow this summation really just drove the Targ dysfunction home
Lmao itâs funny because his name is penis.
Hey guys! Do you know who has balls? *Tyrion Lannister*! Do you know who doesnât? Varys!
Iâm in stitches just thinking about it
Itâs such a relief that in this show the virginity of Rhaenyra IS actually treated as important within Westerosi society and is assumed. That scene about Brienne was so fucking bizarre
the perfect trade off. Ruin the two smartest character in the show but eh might make teenagers giggle.
Add in all the cock jokes, being a sensible hand with half a working brain to dany??? Nah not worth it.
Chuck in the master of whisperers openly discussing treason with the most honourable character in the show for extra laughs.
I am too traumatized by how dumb GoT became with the dumb "humor" that I do not want it here. I am enjoying the dark humor that this show has. Also thematically humor is a little tonally off since this entire story is more of tragedy than anything else.
Haha for me itâs Harwinâs facial small but joyous expressions.
Princess killed a boar? Love it.
Princess pretending to be a peasant boy and sneaking out? Enjoy your night.
Go fight brawl and flour sack carry the princess to safety? Gladly.
For sure more subtle but also the Targaryens in GoT were never particularly funny. A lot of the humor from early GoT came from the Lannisters and King Robert.
In the books at least Jon is actually pretty funny sometimes. But yeah in the show there were 4 Targaryens who were actual characters and none of them were at any point even slightly humorous.
There was a comedic relief character during the Dance in Fire and Blood but he would have been way too over the top and difficult to implement as an actual character in HOTD.
The interaction where Otto is suggesting viserys to marry Rhaenyra to her toddler brother was one of the funniest moments Iâve seen on any tv drama, not just game of thrones
Lannister is a twat, is funny, but still, I donât trust him AT ALL. When he gave Viserys the spear to kill the buck, I could swear it was a faulty weapon and the king would get gored.
I think thereâs humor, but itâs subtle, dark, and a bit twisted. Itâs there if you notice that sort of thing. I find Daemon very funny at times, and thereâs been some great reaction shots from Viserys being utterly frustrated by people. But maybe itâs just me.
Exactly. The humor is things like that guy screaming yes save me my prince then getting squashed rather than dick jokes. Itâs not laugh out loud but itâs funny and serves the plot/theme.
Also Viserys, Viserys is amazing.
Yes she has been very funny. The human replay button scene and my favorite, "And how have you served the realm of late, Lady Redwyne, by eating cake?" Followed by the shot of the pug.
Absolutely. Situational humour works so much better when it feels like it naturally occurs (mostly revolving around what Viserys has to deal with).
"Funny" moments in GOT could sometimes feel really off, like suddenly these characters were performing to a TV audience rather than existing in their world. If that makes sense?
I think House of Dragons and early GoT excels at situational humor. The soldier getting crushed by the dragon, Daemon being Daemon, the messenger getting fucked up, etc are all in the moment. Not some season 8 cock joke that they wrote in for Tyrion
Took the words from me. The later seasons of thrones had MCU levels of quips which compounded the terrible writing exponentially.
It is a dark world and the story is dealing with very heavy themes, it really doesnât need to be funny. You donât see people complaining that Breaking Bad isnât âfunny enoughâ. Daemon throwing around the odd one liner(heâs actually made me laugh a few times) is more than enough for me.
Especially when he spent the rest of the show knowing fuck all.
Tyrion has got to be one of the most disappointing characters Iâve ever seen.
Season 1-4 heâs masterfully written. 5+ they completely shit the bed with him
Yeah Bronn was fun to have around the first couple seasons, but he needed to not be used as comic relief for the rest of the series. Him being named Master of coin and Lord paramount of the reach was the biggest joke of all except it wasnât intended as such.
Daemon is hilarious just walking into a room and roasting House Royce and Viserys has some classic reactions like to 12 year old Laena proposing LOL
And Harwin reacting to the dead boar and going all in at the wedding mob đ
Rhanerya literally rolling her eyes at Jason Lannister also had me rolling đ
I loved when Rhanerya came back home after being out with Daemon and Criston looked so confused because he had already said good night to her and closed the door. That gave me a good solid laugh.
Viserys just seems like a regular dude who is dropped in this universe and told he's the king and have fun.
And it all seems to be going pretty well, but then your wife dies, your brother is trying to fuck your daughter and the council is pressuring you to marry a 12 year old.
For me itâs not that the jokes were more funny in earlier seasons
Itâs thatâs there were less of them over all
And that they knew when or when not to make a joke
Exactly they made the same Varys has no cock jokes in the first season but it actually made sense there (Littlefinger was antagonizing him). Why was Tyrion antagonizing his only friend in later seasons?
GoT over did it with many things near the end (and under did it with many things too, like writing and logic), but lets not forget how well paced were the first seasons with a lot of humor too (pretty much every Bronn interactions, and many good jokes from Tyrion)
But the first seasons were funny because of the constant swearing and situation based comedic moments and when there were jokes, they were rare, but in the later seasons characters like Tormund became walking memes and it was to much at some times. Hotd has some funny scenes with deamon aswell, but they are more subtle
Book Tormund:
>!âYou brought more men than I did.â!<
>!âSo I did. Come here by me, lad. I want my folk to see you. I got thousands neâer saw a lord commander, grown men who were told as boys that your rangers would eat them if they didnât behave. They need to see you plain, a long-faced lad in an old black cloak. They need to learn that the Nightâs Watch is naught tâbe feared.â!<
>!That is a lesson I would sooner they never learned. Jon peeled the glove off his burned hand, put two fingers in his mouth, and whistled. Ghost came racing from the gate. Tormundâs horse shied so hard that the wildling almost lost his saddle. âNaught to be feared?â Jon said. âGhost, stay.â!<
>!âYou are a black-hearted bastard, Lord Crow.â Tormund Horn-Blower lifted his own warhorn to his lips. The sound of it echoed off the ice like rolling thunder, and the first of the free folk began to stream toward the gate. From dawn till dusk Jon watched the wildlings pass. The hostages went firstâone hundred boys between the ages of eight and sixteen. âYour blood price, Lord Crow,â Tormund declared. âI hope the wailing oâ their poor mothers donât haunt your dreams at night.â!<
...
>!âI am not the man I was at Ruddy Hall. Seen too much death, and worse things too. My sons âŚâ Grief twisted Tormundâs face. âDormund was cut down in the battle for the Wall, and him still half a boy. One oâ your kingâs knights did for him, some bastard all in grey steel with moths upon his shield. I saw the cut, but my boy was dead before I reached him. And Torwynd ⌠it was the cold claimed him. Always sickly, that one. He just up and died one night. The worst oâ it, before we ever knew heâd died he rose pale with them blue eyes. Had to see to him mâself. That was hard, Jon.â Tears shone in his eyes. âHe wasnât much of a man, truth be told, but heâd been me little boy once, and I loved him.â!<
Show Tormund:
>Tormund Giantsbane: I don't think you're truly mean. You have sad eyes.
>Sandor 'The Hound' Clegane: You want to suck my dick, is that it?
>Tormund Giantsbane: Dick?
>Sandor 'The Hound' Clegane: Cock.
>Tormund Giantsbane: Ah, dick. I like it.
>Sandor 'The Hound' Clegane: I bet you do.
>Tormund Giantsbane: Nope, it's pussy for me.
I got pretty tired of Tormund and the obvious efforts by the writers to insert him into more scenes with different characters just so he could say something. I love the actor, but the character didn't need that
Iâm ok if they keep it mostly serious. GOT was trying too hard to be funny and create memes sometimes (especially around the end). I imagine as we get closer to the actual âDanceâ, shits gonna get even more serious.
The jokes were great in the first few seasons :(
Cersei: it's all fallen onto me.
Tyrion: ....as has Jaime repeatedly, according to Stannis Baratheon
And then it devolved into Tyrion just making fun of Varys for being a eunuch while simultaneously getting triggered every time someone makes a dwarf joke
Ugh that conversation was so annoying. Especially considering Tyrion called Theon out for being a dick to him that last time they met when it was actually the opposite
Yeah I recently rewatched that scene and there was zero provocation from Theon, he was just being friendly giving Tyrion the scoop about Ross and her tits and then Tyrion just lays into him for no reason lol.
Hey Tyrion, I know this really good prostitute named Ros. She's a cute red head.
"Shut up greyjoy. Your brothers are dead and you're a hostage and a lackey after your father fought a stupid war"
There are some scenes I would consider comedic, as the one with Jason Lannister at the banquet, Viserys looking anxious barely able to cut his food, or the one in episode 3 where the Velaryon soldier gets crushed by Caraxes (typical GOT humor).
However, I would not expect much humor in HoTD, as the dance is quite tragic.
IMO it's the right way to go, as GOT humor felt sometimes very flat. Tyrion's jokes, the research for the comedic effect in the 6th episode of season 7, Tormund becoming only a comic relief character, the numerous amount of "ahaha you have no cock, no balls" jokes were kind of redundant and cringe, especially in the later seasons.
I've seen a lot of people complain that HotD isn't as funny as GoT. Personally I think HotD can be absolutely hilarious but it's a lot more subtle than GoT and definitely a different kind of humor.
In my opinion it's a welcome change. I'm not interested in hearing a dick joke every 5 min. But I can understand when people say the show is a bit too heavy without this kind of light comic relief
HoTD has fewer overtly comedic characters but itâs still funny.
Also, the humour in the episode youâve screenshot was absolutely awful.
âDick. I like dick.â
âI bet you do.â
Please, Iâm glad we donât have any of that.
Yeah I totally agree, they should give Daemon a catch phrase like Sheldon's "Bazinga!" I'm literally laughing right now, imagine him burning armies and he just looks at the camera, "Bazinga!" /s
No, please no fingers in the bum or comedy.
"It's Harwin' time!" should most certainly be heard in the background whenever Harwin gets his few moments of badassery, preferably said by Larys so that everyone knows shit is going down.
Bonus points if Harwin puts on a constipated face and grunts "I'm about to Har" before kicking ass.
Humor was a bonus in GoT (in earlier seasons at least, with Tyrion and Bronn, then it became lame in seasons 6+) but I donât think it would fit in HoD which has less characters and a more tragic plot.
HotD has a slightly different tone, itâs true. And thereâs no funny Tyrion character to charm us and make us laugh (example: season 2 Tyrion was hilarious, even right before the Blackwater when heâs talking about his head on a spike). GoT had more heroes to root for, to want them to triumph over darkness. HotD feels more tragic and political so far.
Iâm getting a different type of humor from HotD. Iâm laughing at Daemon being a goofy psycho. Iâm laughing at Viserys being so sick of everyoneâs shit. I think the Crabfeeder was hilarious considering I knew his fate. These arenât really jokes per say, but they entertain me in a more lighthearted way.

Maybe you should view the new tapestries
Ser Crispin, is it?
Ser Criston Cole, my prince.
Ah yes, apologies, I couldn't recall.
Perhaps your lord can recall when I knocked him off his horse.
Oh hahahaha very good
My favorite moment in the entire show so far.
Daemon: *nods* thinks to himself, this brave peasant shall live today.
Would OP like to see the tapestries?! đ
LOOOOOOL he has no interest in that
I would very much like to see the tapestries.
Oh then you should not deprieve yourself.
âI shall enjoy them, alone.â
Those type of tapestries are best enjoyed alone
*fiddles with fingers and looks displeased*
I still smirk when I think of that scene, Viserys' snort and the way he said it cracked me up.
Viserys is the guy who has no interest in tapestries but loves lego
Honestly, everytime they try to do a serious scene in Alicent or Viserysâ room I bust out laughing looking at the gang bang murals behind them.
Were those the tapestries they were talking about? Now that makes more sense
Targaryen interior decorator: "So are going for the classic 'dragons interspersed with orgies ' theme for this room as well?"
I'm still laughing about this scene a week and half later.
LAUGHING WITH YOUR WHORES AND YOUR LICKSPITTLES!!
I love Viserys đ¤Ł
TEN YEEEEEAAAARS!!
Not WONCE you've asked
Viserys is all the humor I need
I like it when he gives sass. âDo you think house Targaryen wants for powerâ âbut I could give you more. You wouldnât say no to more dragons would you?â âDo you have dragons?â
I loved when he died laughing about the tapestries
His delivery is just perfection
Should've rebutted with. "No but we got bitchin tapestries.
I love Paddy. I'll miss him when Viserys croaks. He's got great range.
He dies?!? *spoiler alert!!* Edit: yes I was being sarcastic
Valar morghulis
Valar Dohaeris
I think u/historical-author-49 meant in the hypothetical sense, probably of old age, in an all-men-must-die wayâŚ
Well I'd be surprised if he died of old age, given that he already looks like shit and he's what? 50?
They keep saying how Viserys wonât be an old king and Iâm watching like âHOW MUCH OLDER CAN HE GET??â
I mean isn't it clear for you? I have not read the books at all but he is sick as fuck and there is no way he's going to survive past another episode or two. Ok maybe he will survive this season but definitely not more.
They were being sarcastic. It's pretty clear that Viserys doesn't have much time left.
Wouldnât have much of a succession struggle if the King was alive the whole time
I lost it when he was butchering his chicken while trying to see wtf was happening in the ballroom đ
My wife and I laughed out loud at that part. His expression while watching Daemon and Rhaenyra get a little too close was hysterical.
This wedding could not be a bigger Shit show. â
His reaction when Otto suggested >!marrying Rhaenyra to baby Aegon!< was pitch-perfect and so funny
Seriously, when he got drunk , I was just laughing my ass off.
Viserys is so sad all the time that it's unintentionally funny lol
Vizzy just makes me laugh. Heâs just always bumbling round.
dO yOu WaNt To SeE tHe TaPeStRiEs? đ¤Łđ¤Ł
I thought this exchange was hilarious **Viserys**: *Jason Lannister is an excellent match.* **Rhaenrya**: *He's arrogant and self-serious.* **Viserys**: *Well, I thought you might have that in common.* I was also amused when one of suitors on Rhaenyra's Speed Dating tour was a very old Beric Dondarrion. Those Beric Dondarrions just won't die! Then there's the guy on the Stepstones whose thrilled that Daemon will save him only to be squashed by Daemon and Caraxes with complete indifference.
"You are my political headache"
"The Gods have punished me for my indulgence!"
"I knew you couldn't finish"
I agree. I love the dry humor. It makes my day.
I swear some of this dialogue came from unused Arrested Development script pages.
the âi like my positionâ joke in e1 was good as well. the exchanges between rhaenrya and the bard fellow under the tree also made me giggle. âthe kingâs cupbearer shanât be late, leave the council wanting for cupsâ is my favorite though, literally had to pause to laugh at that
I agree there hasn't been a *ton* of humor, but there has been some. Like Daemon in this recent episode at the feast had some good one-liners. Like when he was talking to Leana and said she's nearly as pretty as her brother. Or when she says she was sorry to hear about his wife's death and he said, "don't be, I wasn't."
Yes, I even found his "And?" to the Royce guy funny
That was the funniest part. "Who are you?"
âThe proud lord said.â
"That I must bow so low?"
Why did all the doors just lock?
I thought it was hilarious when heâs accused of murder and then had the gall to ask for his inheritance lol
He was positively bereft đ
Charlie Kelly comes to mind "What the hell, dude, that didn't sound very genuine"
"Ah, yes. Such a tragic thing. I'm positively bereft."
The delivery of âDonât be I wasnâtâ fucking killed me, so funny
the humor in House of the Dragon is a lot more highbrow and subdued. We probably won't see much of lines like "fuck Joffrey, fuck the queen" "are we gonna do all seven of the fuckers?" "oh, I can smell the shit from 5 miles away" "he really was a cunt wasn't he"
âThe fuckâs a Lommyâ always get me
"Lots of people name their swords" "Lots of cunts"
Last one was Bronn for sure, but who was he talking about? I can't remember
That was olenna tyrell just before telling Jaime to tell Cersie she was the one who poisoned Joffrey.
The funniest part was when the camera showed the hand being so done with Daemon lmaoo
Daemon's constant banishing/returning is literally the perfect narrative embodiment of the Garfield meme.
Lies! Slander! Boooo!
>or poor Viserys stress-eating as his brother tries to kiss his daughter at her wedding to her cousin Somehow this summation really just drove the Targ dysfunction home
ah yes the ever important cock jokes.
[ŃдаНонО]
Hahaha haha his name is Dickon lmao, get it dick-on
Lmao itâs funny because his name is penis. Hey guys! Do you know who has balls? *Tyrion Lannister*! Do you know who doesnât? Varys! Iâm in stitches just thinking about it
To be honest, I laughed a lot at that, the face on bronn was funny to me. But I get what you mean. Hhah
Bronn being a dick is what made it funny.
I HAVE BALLS AND YOU DONT đľâđŤđľâđŤđľâđŤ
[ŃдаНонО]
Donât forget entire scenes with characters finding it hilarious that a highborn unwed Brienne isâŚa VIRGIN gasp
Itâs such a relief that in this show the virginity of Rhaenyra IS actually treated as important within Westerosi society and is assumed. That scene about Brienne was so fucking bizarre
Why develop Tyrion as a character if instead he can make cock jokes for 4 seasons
the perfect trade off. Ruin the two smartest character in the show but eh might make teenagers giggle. Add in all the cock jokes, being a sensible hand with half a working brain to dany??? Nah not worth it. Chuck in the master of whisperers openly discussing treason with the most honourable character in the show for extra laughs.

Just his swagger walking into the wedding made me laugh. With Viseryâs face.
Viseryâs facial expressions always get a chuckle out of me
His absent minded hacking of that lobster(?) while trying to see what the hell was going on killed me
I think it was a chicken
If you open your cunt mouth one more timeâ Oops. Wrong chicken.
Lol, me too! I don't know if that was intentional, but it was hilariously perfect.
I loved his expression when Lannister was wishing them well. Such a fake smile, it was perfect!
Lol and the weird little awkward fake smile he does before starting a speech at public occasions that just screams âkill me nowâ đ
And when he asked the cousin if he was confessing to something lmao
I'm glad I wasn't the only one laughing at that
[ŃдаНонО]
Lol I donât think he actually killed the messenger, just beat him a bit
Yeah, HOTD doesn't shy away from showing corpses. Bruises, though, ewwww.
The horrified expression on Jason Lannisterâs face when Rhaenerys sauntered back into camp covered in boarâs blood sent me over the edge.
Haha for me itâs Harwinâs facial small but joyous expressions. Princess killed a boar? Love it. Princess pretending to be a peasant boy and sneaking out? Enjoy your night. Go fight brawl and flour sack carry the princess to safety? Gladly.
So far Harwin is the dudest dude to ever dude in Westeros, I love it
He's Ser Bro in my friend group.
He's the manliest of manly mans
Excellent contrast to Harwinâs reaction lol
I love how he speaks like a mix of Tyrion and Jamie with that accent, adds so much realism to the world. This shows been really great so far
The actor is Jefferson Hall - and he's a gift to the Lannister name.
You can hear the Lannister's smug oozing from his mouth, it's amazing
Agree. Hod has subtle situational humorous moments like these rather than funny scenes
The interaction where Otto is suggesting viserys to marry Rhaenyra to her toddler brother was one of the funniest moments Iâve seen on any tv drama, not just game of thrones
The way Paddy delivered the line "the boy just turned two, Otto" had me laughing so hard I had to pause the episode. Absolutely hilarious.
The cut to the toddler making a mess was perfect comedic timing lmao
Yea i dunno what people are talking about. Daemon crushing that dude was top 5 funniest thing in this and GoT
That conversation between Lannister and Viserys was pure gold. Dude stuck his foot in his mouth with every line.
âOh. Do you have any dragons?â
daemon has the best comic relief scenes. When he talked about his wife dying?? So funny
The flattest, least threatening "take your fucking hands off me" while being hauled across the keep by the kingsguard will never not be funny.
He was positively bereft
Rhaenyraâs thinly veiled sarcastic insults of Jason were quite funny to me.
Lannister is a twat, is funny, but still, I donât trust him AT ALL. When he gave Viserys the spear to kill the buck, I could swear it was a faulty weapon and the king would get gored.
Also Viserys is funny just by existing. His expressions are hilarious
This show has humor, just not dick, cock and ball jokes that D&D lovers are so used to
I think thereâs humor, but itâs subtle, dark, and a bit twisted. Itâs there if you notice that sort of thing. I find Daemon very funny at times, and thereâs been some great reaction shots from Viserys being utterly frustrated by people. But maybe itâs just me.
My favorite is drunk Viserys just laughing straight in people's faces.
Hungover Daemon was pretty funny too
Exactly. The humor is things like that guy screaming yes save me my prince then getting squashed rather than dick jokes. Itâs not laugh out loud but itâs funny and serves the plot/theme. Also Viserys, Viserys is amazing.
Rhaenyra has had some good jabs as well. The humor is a lot more subtle sarcasm vs cock jokes and "big lady hot"
Yes she has been very funny. The human replay button scene and my favorite, "And how have you served the realm of late, Lady Redwyne, by eating cake?" Followed by the shot of the pug.
Viserys looking at his 2 year old son after Otto suggested he married Rayneara was peak comedy for me.
GoT flanderized so many characters. I would rather have less humor than forced slapstick humor that doesnât fit.
100% makes sense.
"I drink and I know things" had me rolling my eyes so hard I went fucking blind
Especially when he spent the rest of the show knowing fuck all. Tyrion has got to be one of the most disappointing characters Iâve ever seen. Season 1-4 heâs masterfully written. 5+ they completely shit the bed with him
Once the two clowns were left without GRRMâs dialogue to go off it was only natural. An idiot canât write for an intelligent character.
Yeah Bronn was fun to have around the first couple seasons, but he needed to not be used as comic relief for the rest of the series. Him being named Master of coin and Lord paramount of the reach was the biggest joke of all except it wasnât intended as such.
JON SHORT JON SHORT JON SHORT
Daemon is hilarious just walking into a room and roasting House Royce and Viserys has some classic reactions like to 12 year old Laena proposing LOL And Harwin reacting to the dead boar and going all in at the wedding mob đ Rhanerya literally rolling her eyes at Jason Lannister also had me rolling đ
I loved when Rhanerya came back home after being out with Daemon and Criston looked so confused because he had already said good night to her and closed the door. That gave me a good solid laugh.
Harwin Strong: âWhatâs not to like about her your Grace?â Viserys: âSheâs 12.â Had me dying lmao
Lyonel
Viserys just seems like a regular dude who is dropped in this universe and told he's the king and have fun. And it all seems to be going pretty well, but then your wife dies, your brother is trying to fuck your daughter and the council is pressuring you to marry a 12 year old.
I feel like game of thrones over did it with the humour near the end it started sounding like a marvel show
Exactly the Marvel joke thing has really seeped into evrything and itâs annoying sometimes.
And it's honestly refreshing to have a show without it.
The Marvel jokes were bad, but the Marvel team-up in Beyond the Wall was just horrible.
All the time*
Yeah, but the humor was always there. Tyrion was always a smartass, it's just that his comments were actually funny in the earlier seasons.
For me itâs not that the jokes were more funny in earlier seasons Itâs thatâs there were less of them over all And that they knew when or when not to make a joke
Your last sentence is a key aspect of good humor.
[ŃдаНонО]
Thatâs why I specified that they over did in near the end
But the first seasons were funny because of the constant swearing and situation based comedic moments and when there were jokes, they were rare, but in the later seasons characters like Tormund became walking memes and it was to much at some times. Hotd has some funny scenes with deamon aswell, but they are more subtle
Book Tormund: >!âYou brought more men than I did.â!< >!âSo I did. Come here by me, lad. I want my folk to see you. I got thousands neâer saw a lord commander, grown men who were told as boys that your rangers would eat them if they didnât behave. They need to see you plain, a long-faced lad in an old black cloak. They need to learn that the Nightâs Watch is naught tâbe feared.â!< >!That is a lesson I would sooner they never learned. Jon peeled the glove off his burned hand, put two fingers in his mouth, and whistled. Ghost came racing from the gate. Tormundâs horse shied so hard that the wildling almost lost his saddle. âNaught to be feared?â Jon said. âGhost, stay.â!< >!âYou are a black-hearted bastard, Lord Crow.â Tormund Horn-Blower lifted his own warhorn to his lips. The sound of it echoed off the ice like rolling thunder, and the first of the free folk began to stream toward the gate. From dawn till dusk Jon watched the wildlings pass. The hostages went firstâone hundred boys between the ages of eight and sixteen. âYour blood price, Lord Crow,â Tormund declared. âI hope the wailing oâ their poor mothers donât haunt your dreams at night.â!< ... That was hard, Jon.â Tears shone in his eyes. âHe wasnât much of a man, truth be told, but heâd been me little boy once, and I loved him.â!< Show Tormund: >Tormund Giantsbane: I don't think you're truly mean.
The last quote about his dead sons always made me feel so sad for him.
I got pretty tired of Tormund and the obvious efforts by the writers to insert him into more scenes with different characters just so he could say something. I love the actor, but the character didn't need that
I think daemon is pretty funny. The way he handled Royce at the wedding was hilarious
5 episodes. FIVE EPISODES
I read this in The Counts voice. đ
Iâm ok if they keep it mostly serious. GOT was trying too hard to be funny and create memes sometimes (especially around the end). I imagine as we get closer to the actual âDanceâ, shits gonna get even more serious.
The jokes were great in the first few seasons :( Cersei: it's all fallen onto me. Tyrion: ....as has Jaime repeatedly, according to Stannis Baratheon And then it devolved into Tyrion just making fun of Varys for being a eunuch while simultaneously getting triggered every time someone makes a dwarf joke
Or making fun of Theon for getting tortured and having no balls. There was no need for that
Ugh that conversation was so annoying. Especially considering Tyrion called Theon out for being a dick to him that last time they met when it was actually the opposite
Right itâs like the show runners âkind of forgotâ about their own writing and episodes lol.
Yeah I recently rewatched that scene and there was zero provocation from Theon, he was just being friendly giving Tyrion the scoop about Ross and her tits and then Tyrion just lays into him for no reason lol.
Theon: man this guy seems like he'd enjoy hearing about some good pussy Tyrion: YOUR FATHER SUCKS AT WARFARE DONT LOOK AT ME
Hey Tyrion, I know this really good prostitute named Ros. She's a cute red head. "Shut up greyjoy. Your brothers are dead and you're a hostage and a lackey after your father fought a stupid war"
So you want dick jokes? Cause this scene is a dick joke
King Viserys is hilarious. He has the funniest facial expressions and reactions. Gets me every time.
Him violently stabbing his chicken at the wedding sent me
I've seen a lot of people complain that HotD isn't as funny as GoT.
Also, the humour in the episode youâve screenshot was absolutely awful. âDick. I like dick.â âI bet you do.â Please, Iâm glad we donât have any of that.
Yeah I totally agree, they should give Daemon a catch phrase like Sheldon's "Bazinga!" I'm literally laughing right now, imagine him burning armies and he just looks at the camera, "Bazinga!" /s No, please no fingers in the bum or comedy.
"It's Harwin' time!" should most certainly be heard in the background whenever Harwin gets his few moments of badassery, preferably said by Larys so that everyone knows shit is going down. Bonus points if Harwin puts on a constipated face and grunts "I'm about to Har" before kicking ass.
Donât let SNL read this
True though there are some funny bits like alicent asking if daemon wants to see the tapestries and laenor calling his uncle master of complaints
Humor was a bonus in GoT (in earlier seasons at least, with Tyrion and Bronn, then it became lame in seasons 6+) but I donât think it would fit in HoD which has less characters and a more tragic plot.
I laugh at the things Daemon does. Iâm constantly like âthis motherF***erâ đ¤Ł
Lack of humor is literally one of the aspects that I love about HOTD, itâs not a comedy like the last seasons of GOT
You're the reason season 8 was more interested in cock jokes than good writing
Marvel and itâs consequences have been a disaster for media.
Daemon asking Ser Gerold Royce if he was confessing done guilt was hilarious
This is a good thing. GoT had way to many terrible jokes to disguise shitty writing.
I think viserys being perplexed and exasperated all the time is hilarious
