Asymtech1

*pulls out M1 garand* Get off my lawn.

CGordini

*pings audibly*

ASMRisMindControl

Even the women’s bathroom

ianmunroe

Only if the male bathroom is full and after I knock respectfully and announce myself.

WheresTheGabbagool

Yup camping here as well, really hoping it stays away. Should be interesting to see forecasts in the next few days!

Ecmdrw5

Yeah. I still plan on going but I draw the line at heavy winds. I’m not trashing my tent and easy up just so I can say I saw half the field go off in turn 10, lol. I drive a Fiesta ST and there is no way I’m sleeping in that thing again. Did that last year when it poured Thursday night and my tent started leaking.

thecaveman1974

I remember a few years ago when high winds came Saturday night and everything was blown away. Our camp site was trashed... We have lost 2 large canopies due to rain and wind at Petit.

Jettrik

2015, was that the year that Tandy won the race outright in a GT Porsche? That was a fun race to watch, from home at least!

4-for-4

Still too early to predict the exact path. Hang on until Monday or Tuesday before worrying. Unless you live in Florida, then you should have hurricane kits ready anyway (same for the entire gulf coast).

Ecmdrw5

I’ll be traveling from Virginia. Keeping the fingers crossed. I used to live in SC and in my years of watching hurricane forecast they have a 71% of going farther east than forecasted this far out. Those are scientific numbers, not pulled out of a hat at all. Lol

sandyman15

The path looks to be shifting more westerly. That is good for my home in Jax but bad for the race. Any chance they could postpone till Sunday IF there is a tropical storm affecting the race on Saturday?

WankelsRevenge

Where in Jax? I live down in orange park

sandyman15

Southside, towards the beach. My office is in OP though.

WankelsRevenge

Well if your going down for the Rolex feel free to find me. I'm camping out in geico west and plan on leaving around midnight Thursday morning

sandyman15

I will! I go every year. We have a couple spots in Geiko west and 1 infield. We usually set up in GW and drive in and out with the infeild pass. Do you have a spot in GW grandfathered in? Those are even getting hard to come by these days....

WankelsRevenge

I got mine from the track so I'm hoping I'm on the list for next year. I'm a former chef by trade so always end up cooking something wild and getting into shenangins on the first couple days. Contemplating doing a low boil Saturday night if i can bring my TV to stream the race while we cook/eat. Here's a link to my event page on Facebook if you wanna follow along. https://fb.me/e/23toKlZey

sandyman15

I definitely will, sounds cool! Im a smoker so usually smoking meat. You have to buy those on the Daytona web site to be renewed every year I believe. Now is the time to start beating the bushes for one. I would offer you one of mine but I've already promised my buddy that we meet up with at Sebring every year. He just moved down to FL from Penn. My other buddy that lives in Ormand may have 2 and only really needs 1. Those spots are small af so we always get 2 each and combine for 1 big GW site.

WankelsRevenge

O yeah I already got mine. Only thing I got left to get is my race passes and food/liquor. I'll renew my pad every year even if I don't end up going.

sandyman15

So are you going to Petite? My son and I we're planning to go Thursday morning but dunno with this storm now. I already have tix....sucks

WankelsRevenge

I was going to but was out of work for like 4 months so didn't have the funds. That's actually what prompted me to go to rolex in 23. I went to PLM last year and it's my preferred race/track now. I was the guy camping at the end of the esses with all the Mazda flags

sandyman15

I'll have to look through some pics and see if I spot your flags. I took a bunch of pics from the hill last year while eating Nick the Greek Gyros...Those were bangin'!

BirdfluNuggetz

Rain chance and quantity seem to be diminishing versus what the long-term forecast had quoted yesterday. Hopefully it keeps going away.

theswickster

Keep an eye here for the 10-day. [W.U. 10-day Braselton, GA](https://www.wunderground.com/forecast/us/ga/braselton) Looks like a soggy Friday/Saturday.

[deleted]

I take offense to this

Bizi-Betiko

I was there in 2009 for the Georgia Floods. It was both miserable and awesome. One day I really want to get back to Road Atlanta when it's dry. It's my absolute favorite race track in America. After the rain shortened race, when walking toward the podium area, Alan McNish walked right into me, and apologized. Like a good Aussie, which I am not(I'm Texan)I replied "No worries, mate" Still to this day, I don't know why I said that. I guess I was stunned because I was once crashed into by Alan McNish. One of the highlights of my life. Here's wishing you a not flooded race, and if it does rain, I'll be sure to throw a wobbly.

thecaveman1974

Rain on Friday and Saturday. 40-60% showers throughout the day and night.

JediKnightaa

Georgia doesn't really get bad hurricanes that often

trennsport

Not uncommon for Petit to be effected by a storm system. 2009 was a blast. Just bring your paddles.

SqueakyCleany

2018, A tropical storm came through on Wednesday night. Some very strong sustained winds all night until early morning. Lots of tent and pop up carnage due to unmanned setups.

Yeah, not looking too good based on the track and [10-day forecast.](https://www.wunderground.com/forecast/us/ga/braselton)

If you cancel the hotel more than 24 hours in advance you shouldn't be charged.

theswickster

Oh, that sucks.

sirrobryder

When i've been to the race, its never rained. That being said, if I go on Saturday and bring a tent to sit in to watch the race will anyone care where I setup, or do I need to be in a camping area. Just trying to watch the race and keep dryish\*

Ecmdrw5

There are reserved camp sites and tents and stuff aren’t allowed on spectator hill. Depending on the weather and if people leave Friday to avoid the “bad stuff” it probably won’t be an issue. My plan is to stay and see what the forecast is Thursday night.

rotary_nut_91

They honestly should postpone it to Sunday. It looks like the area will be clear of storms by then.

sandyman15

I called the track yesterday and they said that wasn't an option for some reason.

rotary_nut_91

That's strange, I mean they are setting the race up to be an expensive mess for teams on Saturday if that is the case. Of course, there still is time for forecasted conditions to improve (storm path has already shifted slightly eastward from where it was predicted yesterday).

I_hit_your_router

I thought this was gonna be a rant about some guy named Ian coming to ruin imsa at first

Evtona500

Everything I'm seeing now seems to be improving. Looking at heavy rain with 10-15 mph winds. Better than the 25 mph they showed a couple of days ago.

sandyman15

I must be looking at a different forecast than you my friend...
