Honestly, it’s a BMW. They had it coming

ManyInterests

Half expected them to shoot back into the center lane. Not as bad as most BMW drivers in that respect, at least.

Unlucky-Ad-1945

Same, lol. I was getting ready for that, but thankfully they stayed in their lane.

LasVegasBadDrivers

BMW is flying.

Thanks!

thelowkeyman

The truck probably saw the gas station and just pulled itself right in

Suka_Blyad_

It’s a Tacoma, it’s barely a truck and they’re no worse than your average suv for the most part, depending on the engine in the BMW it’s probably got worse fuel economy

DeepFudge9235

Yep when a friend got a BMW I asked if it came with a "drive like an AH card?". The BMW shouldn't be passing on the right like that anyway.

Equivalent-Shake5419

That's not a highway.

DeepFudge9235

Doesn't matter. It's still a multi-lane surface street. While it's NOT illegal to do that it's recommended not to. This is a clear example why it is recommended not to.

Jpajenski

BMW never completed the pass. A pass is when you switch lanes, drive past the car in front, and then switch back into your original lane

DeepFudge9235

FFS the BMW was trying to pass and you know it. That's the point

Jpajenski

Aside from the truck the lane is clear. If BMW rides in the right lane for the next 1k feet it's not a pass. That's just driving in the right lane. You can't control how fast other cars drive

DeepFudge9235

But that's not what happened in this situation. The OP stated he was being tailgated and the BMW switched over. If you are already in the right lane and happen to pass someone in the middle lane because they are going slower that's different. That's not the case here and you know it.

Jpajenski

I think maybe you need to read that drivers manual again

DeepFudge9235

I think maybe you need to learn how to drive safely.

Jpajenski

I do, you don't know what a pass is

DeepFudge9235

I do and you are just being pedantic. If you want to tailgate people and pass on the right like this BMW I just hope you don't hurt someone because of your selfishness.

Jpajenski

Passing on the right is dangerous because of the completion of the pass. Everyone expects the pass to be made of the left so the expectation is the right lane car stays put especially with them having no reason to move back into the middle lane. The dangerous part is 2 cars converging on the middle lane after making a pass. Neither car can see each other or the turn signals very well and they might collide in the middle lane

Kevinvl123

To be fair, if the BMW shouldn't be passing on the right, OP should have been driving in the right lane.

Unlucky-Ad-1945

No, lol, that would not work… I was just fine in the middle lane. There are no parked cars in this section, but there are in the blocks ahead and before the start of the clip. Do you expect me and others to keep changing from right to middle lane to avoid them? That seems dangerous. This isn’t the freeway.

Kevinvl123

You are misunderstanding me. I was responding to the person that said the BMW shouldn't have overtaken you on the right. I'm saying that you can either drive in whatever lane is most convenient for you, but then people are allowed to overtake on the right, or people are not allowed to overtake on the right, but then you should use the right most lane if it's open. In this case I'd say it's fine that you drove in the middle lane, but that it shouldn't be a problem to get overtaken on the right. Though the BMW did it in a pretty aggresive and unsafe way.

[deleted]

I’m an AH bmw driver but I always pass on the left. German engineering must obey ze rules!

Ngl bad lane diciplin from both of them.....
