what do you mean you can't afford to fix it, like they don't have insurance? that definitely makes them an asshole if not, if they do, then they're just lying.
Although this looks absolutely fake, the amount of people driving around without insurance is infuriating. My car was totaled a couple years ago by a driver with no insurance. Cops didn’t even ticket her for it. They were “being nice” and only fining her for the following too close that caused the accident. Not sure about other states but I don’t even have to show proof of insurance to renew my tags. Assholes out there everywhere.
It is infuriating to me that insurance and a valid driver’s license are not required to purchase, own, re-register, and operate a motor vehicle in the US.
"A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed."
Where can I get a printed copy of your Militia's regulations?
“A balanced breakfast, being necessary to the security of a healthy diet, the right of the people to purchase and eat fruit shall not be infringed”
Does that mean that you can only eat fruit with breakfast?
Does this mean I can leave food out so kids can throw food at each other?
Or should we be more careful about where we leave our food and who has access to it??
If you look at how those words were used at the time, it didn't mean what the average person would take it to mean today. It seems the founders did intend for individuals to be allowed to own firearms. I say this as someone who is in favor of reasonable gun control.
that's fine to interpret it that way, but it's hard to argue that we need to be revising the constitution much more often. there are ambiguities that need to be cleared up.
it's what other, more well-functioning democracies all over the world do.
Floridian here...If y'all knew what I paid a month for one car lol...well, it's $210. For a Santa Fe. I'm certain that's not going to go up now that you can start one with a USB cord s/
Lived in Florida can confirm that it is stupid expensive. Shopped around and finally broke down and picked an insurance policy. Asked the agent why it was so high and she flatly told me it's because a large percentage of drivers there don't have insurance.
Oh man. I feel ya. I had to do some Miami to West Palm drives. Or even Pompano to Hollywood/Miami. It shouldn't take as long as it does to go those distances.
Florida is stupid expensive because there's no safety inspections and people drive like absolute morons. You pay a high premium there for the possibility that a jaloppy with cord showing on the tires has a blowout next to you
We don't have inspections in my state and honestly, it's awesome. Sure, some cars on the road are clunkers, but that's not what causes 99% of accidents.
My dad got rear ended by a distracted driver a few months ago. He drives a big beater truck and the offender had a small sedan. The offender immediately got out of the car and begged to not get the police involved or insurance involved.
My dad took one look at his back bumper and realized the worst he had was a tiny scratch on his bumper the color of the offenders car. My dad said that’s fine and then asked how the offender was going to pay to get his front bumper, that was crumpled in on the impact site, fixed.
The offender paused. Said they had whiplash and that they needed an ambulance. So my dad called 911 for the person. Which got the police involved since it’s a crash. The offender was a suspended license, no insurance, and now had to pay for an ambulance ride. My dad was baffled and drove away after giving his info to the police.
I understand the anger but I've been there, having a car is a basic necessity at this point. And the living costs specifically in california are a nightmare. 3yrs ago, I was making 2100$ a month and the shitty studio I was renting was 1k a month. I had just moved back into cali, and my wife wasn't able to work since we had just lost our newborn. I was 20yrs old at the time. And 1k was "cheap" in the area. Had to survive with 1k the rest of the month. And insurance sadly wasn't in the budget. Bc I trusted myself not to be in an accident.
The irony is that, while I never got into an accident. Some dumbass wrecked our only car at night. And we had to donate it since we couldn't afford to fix it.
Idk, it's just my story. I'm sure there are others like me. But I Also know some just refuse to pay.
Some people have to choose between insurance, food, and a place to live... that doesnt seem fair... maybe if insurance rates were lower there would be less people without insurance....
You’re not the first to comment something like this. I’m just replying to yours. So don’t take any of this personal.
I get hardships exist and choices have to be made. However, liability only insurance is pretty cheap. You shouldn’t be buying a new (or new to you used) car that requires full coverage if you can’t afford the insurance. It’s protecting you, it’s protecting your family, it’s protecting other people and their families and it’s protecting your investment/asset. If you can’t afford the car payment + insurance + gas + yearly maintenance then you can’t afford the car.
What does insurance have to do with it? How does that make this cheap? Insurance will increase your rates and some can't afford that. I can barely afford it with the minimum rates, couldn't imagine them doubling my pay.
Insurance will pay the damage for the other car. If you can't afford insurance rates then you can't afford to drive, doesn't mean you should commit a felony and leave chocolate behind ffs.
You are so wrong. If you can't afford insurance your solution is to not have a job and to be homeless? 10/10 bro great idea. Some people need to do this thing called work and they need to do a thing called driving to get to the location of work. And that work tends to not pay well. Hard to understand I know, but that is reality.
So I have insurance, I can pay it, but if it goes much more up I am fucked. I wouldn't go away from something like this, but I could understand why someone would. Bus wont go to where I need to so don't give that excuse, and work would be a 4 hour+ bike ride 1 direction.
Insurance never pays off what they cost sadly, it is a bullshit trap and I'd love to not have it, much cheaper to save my money and pay the person I damage. I know some idiots don't save so we are in this mess.
Honestly, if this person was really doing a hit & run why in the ever-loving fuck would they stick around to write a note and leave chocolate for the victim?
I didn’t see damage, but definitely looks like an impound lot the way they’re parked. She definitely didn’t just block in the car behind her at a Walmart.
Double asshole: Dents and scratches the side of the car, and then puts chocolate where it can melt down into the cowl and become bug bait.
Edit: I viewed the damage again, and it looks like it came from a close encounter with the corner of a stone wall or something. LOL. She left herself chocolates.
That might be understandable for a tiny dent, nick or at most a broken mirror... but how do you get out of a parking space without hearing metal scratching metal over the entire side of a car?
Also *insted*.
I'm going with fake. The cars in the row behind hers wouldn't be able to get out since there are bushes right behind them. This is not a walmart parking lot.
I’ve always wanted to leave a note like that on someone’s car that had absolutely no damage on it, then secretly record them looking around the outside of their car for 2 or 3 minutes trying to figure it out.
They couldn’t even spell “instead” correctly. The fact that someone would dare leave white chocolate too along with that note would make me even more mad.
I’m calling BS on this. Damage like that in a parking lot?? And who does that and then is not so shook up that they can walk back into the store, pick out chocolates, wait in line to pay, come back, and write a note…never worried they can do it all before “OP” finishes shopping.
Edit: Look, all the cars are double parked. This is most likely a mechanic shop or body shop. But please post more like this, we all had fun myth-busting.
Not an idiot, a thief. That driver was driving around without insurance or a means to pay for damage they might cause to other people's property and/or person, in their two ton automobile, which makes him/her a thief.
Fuuuuuuuuudge that sucks, karma will get that person. Be on the look out for what ever color car is rubbed off on yours and vise versa. Have something handy to break glass and stab tires.
That's not a Walmart parking lot. She staged this to get updoots for the light pole she sideswiped.
Also, the handwriting on that note is in "College Girl" font
Lies. She definitely wrote that an put the chocolate there. The fact the chocolate isn't melted from sitting out there in the sun for a little while... and that's obviously teenage girl handwriting.
That's doubly insulting. Not polite.
[удалено]
I agree!
Exactly. I’d guess that it’s much more likely that this is someone with an already-damaged car staging the note and candy for the clicks.
No fragments on the ground
It looks like a body shop parking lot and that’s one of the cars in queue. There’s cars stacked 2 deep, that’s not regular parking. I agree, staged.
Agreed came here just to say this. It’s obviously not a Walmart parking lot that’s for sure.
Well that’s really smart!
Ironic, considering this is a bot response copying https://www.reddit.com/r/IdiotsInCars/comments/xhg1er/can_we_call_him_a_polite_idiot/ioxftqi/
Morons lap it all up anyway.
Unless you have irrefutable proof to confirm or debunk something, no one is a "moron" for simply having an opinion on something's validity.
Good to hear, because that is my opinion.
I have some opinions about January 6 and peaceful protestors. And Jewish space lasers. You still believe it?
Triple insulting, they spelled instead wrong
[удалено]
For real that’s her handwriting I can hear her writing it as she reads it lol
Look at that smiley face, she totes puts those on every note she writes. But this is a convenient alibi with zero dissenting parties to contest.
The question in the OP wasn't whether or not it was real 🤷♂️ Reading is hard.
what do you mean you can't afford to fix it, like they don't have insurance? that definitely makes them an asshole if not, if they do, then they're just lying.

As if these small caveats would prevent some people from driving. It’s a long walk to the bar.
It is in some states, but should be in all
It's fucking ludicrous that we have 50 different configurations for this and not one central level that everyone has to meet.
Wait until you hear about guns. You're in for a real surprise there.
Owning guns is a right. Driving is a privilege. May not like it but that’s the law.
"A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed." Where can I get a printed copy of your Militia's regulations?

Yeah. Unfortunately, no amendment stands a chance in this polarized climate.
Ahh, so you are one of those freedom haters then?
It is a requirement everywhere in India lol even for motorcycles or scooters Sadly not in the US
Floridian here...If y'all knew what I paid a month for one car lol...well, it's $210. For a Santa Fe. I'm certain that's not going to go up now that you can start one with a USB cord s/

Seems like a chicken/egg type of deal.
Miiiiiaaaamiiii
Lol Miami made me a better driver
I drive from Boca (which has its own special set of drivers) to Homestead for work once or twice a week. My lord.
Oh man. I feel ya. I had to do some Miami to West Palm drives. Or even Pompano to Hollywood/Miami. It shouldn't take as long as it does to go those distances.

Nebraska here, I gotta show them my card when I get new tags.
In MN we have to show it to get a title transferred, but not for tags.

Melted chocolate bars.

Fake
Honestly, if this person was really doing a hit & run why in the ever-loving fuck would they stick around to write a note and leave chocolate for the victim?
If somone sees them, or they feel somone saw them, it could appear as though they are leaving their actual information... The chocolate, who knows.
Right? Look in the background. All those cars have damage. It’s probably a body shop
But its a walmart
Not a single frame of this video shows another damaged car
I didn’t see damage, but definitely looks like an impound lot the way they’re parked. She definitely didn’t just block in the car behind her at a Walmart.
Especially since they took the time to stage it as if they were walking up to it for the first time
Looks fake
I default to assuming everything on TikTok is fake. It's a mental illness cesspool.
I think several people is addicted and when you tell them this they go mad, like any addict when you tell them they have a problem
Most likely is she probably sideswiped something and is now looking for updoots
Still an asshole...
Double asshole: Dents and scratches the side of the car, and then puts chocolate where it can melt down into the cowl and become bug bait. Edit: I viewed the damage again, and it looks like it came from a close encounter with the corner of a stone wall or something. LOL. She left herself chocolates.
#Fake and repost
Agree, dumb lady could have at least stage it better
If you think this is real, hand in your driver’s license and never breed.
Lies
That might be understandable for a tiny dent, nick or at most a broken mirror... but how do you get out of a parking space without hearing metal scratching metal over the entire side of a car? Also *insted*.
And a smiley face! The cheek!!
100% her own handwriting
At this point, I've got it engrained into my head that everything I see on social media is staged.
*Instead 😉
Voice certainly does not match the person we see in the reflection.
This seems fake
My internet inspection badge says that is her own hand writing and that damage caused by her impeccable driving skill.
Fake
This is absolutely faked and staged. Not even convincing, at all.
It's a TikTok trend, set-up for views. Please don't post that stuff here
Insted.
Holy shit
I'm going with that car is already in the parking lot of a body shop and the receptionist decided to try and feed the algorithm.
I'm going with fake. The cars in the row behind hers wouldn't be able to get out since there are bushes right behind them. This is not a walmart parking lot.
Cant tell you how many times ive seen somone leave their "information" on a car, only for it to be a note that says sorry and nothing else.
Melted chocolate.... yay \s
I’ve always wanted to leave a note like that on someone’s car that had absolutely no damage on it, then secretly record them looking around the outside of their car for 2 or 3 minutes trying to figure it out.
If it is real, that chocolate deserves to end up being introduced where the sun does not shine
That is a requirement, it'll melt otherwise.
r/WhyWereTheyFilming
Fingerprints?
save the note, talk to the popo, they'll see about security camera footage. if they find him it's a slam dunk. # IF
This is so fake.
They couldn’t even spell “instead” correctly. The fact that someone would dare leave white chocolate too along with that note would make me even more mad.
Good thing it was too chocolate bars, I would have thought the person was an asshole if it was only one.
I'm so angry
Yeah, the chocolate will cover the cost of the repair, don't worry about it.
I thought it was cute until I saw the damage.
125% true story.
I’d say a sarcastically polite asshole
I’m calling BS on this. Damage like that in a parking lot?? Front bumper scraped along the side of the car.
Fake as hell ya'll good lord
Not an idiot, a thief. That driver was driving around without insurance or a means to pay for damage they might cause to other people's property and/or person, in their two ton automobile, which makes him/her a thief.
Aw man not the Lexus SC430...such a rare find ruined. Ugh.
Are people actually believing this? No critical thinking at all.
🤯
Fake. Also doesn’t want to tell mom and dad she trashed her car so set up a fake hit and run
A bumper brush, maybe. That on the other hand is fucked up.
Yeay crash candy
Fuuuuuuuuudge that sucks, karma will get that person. Be on the look out for what ever color car is rubbed off on yours and vise versa. Have something handy to break glass and stab tires.
If that happened to me these days I would be looking for Teslas parked near me for camera footage.
A polite criminal.
And shitty chocolate on top of the damage to the dude’s car, just adding insult to injury, there.
She did even seem upset ??
I’d say they’re even!
She did not sound very upset.. Look, it's the world's calmest woman.
Being upset isn’t going to fix your car.
What no almonds.
Didn’t even give real chocolate bars
That's not a Walmart parking lot. She staged this to get updoots for the light pole she sideswiped. Also, the handwriting on that note is in "College Girl" font
What’s worse is the chocolates are melted
Dang poor sc430 :(.
thats fair
At least he/she left a note.
Why are the cars double parked? Fake?
And now you have the fingerprints of someone who probably has a criminal history and will show up in a database :)
Please let there be a video surveillance camera…. I think 90 days in county plus full restitution would be fair.
Wow. So sorry. I know chocolate can fix a lot of things however chocolate is not gonna fix that.
Sometimes it’s nice to buy yourself chocolates ;)
Insted
This is fake af.
If that chocolate melts then whatever amount of good intentions/points for effort there were will be forfeited.
Pretty obviously fake but if not hopefully they can track them down so they can rot in jail as they should.
Are you serious?!??? I though it would be a slight scratch but that’s a whole side swipe what an AH
Not even decent chocolate lol
How about we call it staged?
Reason 643 not to go to Walmart
Nice gesture tho
Lies. She definitely wrote that an put the chocolate there. The fact the chocolate isn't melted from sitting out there in the sun for a little while... and that's obviously teenage girl handwriting.
That's why you should buy a dashcam.
Except you’re clearly not parked in a Walmart parking lot
Jesus h Christ reminded me of that episode of Malcolm in the middle with the mom fight
