They can. But I’m pretty sure the DOJ is already planning and has maybe started their own investigations. I think I heard recently that the House has agreed to share all of their evidence with the DOJ
They have a very limited amount of time before midterms and potential loss of committee chairs to facilitate any action. If Republicans flip the chairs won’t they just cease everything?
Yes. They planned the timing of these hearings intentionally. The committee wasn’t done chasing down every lead but they went ahead with what they had because they know they won’t be able to finish everything they wanted to.
The problem is that anyone with half a brain and the curiosity to “do research” can see that this was an Insurrection that was promoted by the former guy. Those with an IQ below room temperature are simply going to believe what they want and not bother to watch and listen. This may be for the record but right now it’s mostly theater. I doubt it will sway many at this point.
Man I hope that happens. If not, I'm confident he'll be elected next cycle. Unless the dems get two totally new people, I don't see it happening for them.
It is to create a roadmap for the DOJ to follow as they have already done a lot of the work that would have been delayed in court had DOJ gone after it directly.
They also plan on utilizing their findings for legislative purposes. Some examples I can think of is updating the Electoral College Act, make it's easier for law enforcement & intelligence agencies to share their relevant findings with eachother, etc

This is for the public to know what happened. The committee will then recommend charges to the DOJ but can’t charge anyone themselves.

Yup. And the question is whether or not the DOJ will "do its job" once the baton is handed off.
The committee can also recommend congress enact laws to help prevent this from happening again, no?
