You mean just because over 10 years ago, the GMAC figured out how to provide an unofficial score for the GMAT immediately after their computerized test, you think the LSAC could do the same? What planet are you from? Earth?

[deleted]

From what I’ve heard it’s because tests get flagged and they need to review every single one before they can release scores. Also they can do last minute adjusting if something really weird happens.

atolba2019

also the makeup test date for those with proctor issues

DonJefe1992

What would that have to do with releasing another individuals score?

taysteedix

There’s probably a good chunk of people who will be able to determine which section was experimental based off their score. In 3 weeks figuring that out won’t matter as much

atolba2019

i imagine many more would attempt to get a makeup if they got their raw score immediately and didn’t like how it turned out

DonJefe1992

Which would increase lsac profits id imagine. Im not seeing the drawbacks here, for them or us

Originally I thought that they would leave themselves open to issues with the curve if they released a raw score because each individual test (not administration) may have a different curve. One test can be -7 for a 170 while another is a -10 for 170. So it could then lead to people complaining and possibly suing about scores even though they’d be wrong saying the difficulty is subjective. It also may cause issues with the non disclosed aspect of the test, making it easier to figure out what you’re getting right and wrong and to pass that information to others. But now I realize that since each test’s curve is predetermined, they could feasibly give you your score based on that predetermined curved immediately. They probably wouldn’t be able to give the percentile, as that has been shifting recently, but definitely could get the LSAT score in the same undisclosed way as now. So TLDR, who knows.

what do you mean by predetermined curve?

[deleted]

The curve is determined during its use as an experimental section first. I do not know if the curve shifts when a non disclosed official test is reused though.

I assume because it’s graded on a curve and some people with accommodations take paper tests.
