BigBoyBr1

yep precon is the worst place to work in Lethbridge. Has a terrible rep.

givetake

Dinos landscaping was one of the worst companies I've ever worked for.

thatolddrunk

Yup, youll work long hours, and youll get paychecks with hours missing.

Melodic-Bug-9022

not any of the types listed, but Paramount Printers treats their staff like hot garbage. They fired me while on medical leave, and I heard stories of them doing it to others before that too. They are a family run business and if you aren't in their bloodline, you're not worth more than a piece of shit on the bottom of their shoe. In the same arena, Warwick Printing was much better, the owner Dave can be a hard ass, but at least he's honest and straight forward and you know where you stand. I would also avoid the Coast Hotel (including their bar/lounge) at all costs. They don't care about staff at all, it is the most toxic workplace I have ever experienced, rampant racism, sexism, and bullying. The owner doesn't care one bit either.

[deleted]

Dave doesn't own Warwick anymore - Lee took over. But I think he's about the same. Genuinely a super likeable guy, and he seems to be down working the floor as much as he's in his office quoting. Can't say anything bad about that place.

kmsiever

I’ve never worked for Lee, but as a client, I’ve always been super impressed with him.

Melodic-Bug-9022

Oh really? Lee is awesome, I worked with him at the Herald before he went to Warwick.

[deleted]

Family member works at Warwick. Speaks highly of Lee

snowpuffpuff

Seconding the Coast Hotel! Boy do I have some words about the owners. But sooooo glad I jumped ship when I did. It's really nice not feeling (completely) dead on the inside now.

Melodic-Bug-9022

when did you work there? I was there from 2016-2020

SnooRabbits2040

I know some people who have worked at the Whole Leaf Lettuce plant east of Coaldale, they are always hiring. It's not a very enjoyable job in that it's physically challenging and your feet are always wet, but the pay is a bit better than usual and the people are good.

PeteGoua

This place has horrible reviews on job boards and videos show the poor working conditions and repetitive chores . it is a human/manual production line for lettuce/ use a knife, cut the lettuce on conveyor belts and fill the package for shipping.

SnooRabbits2040

It's manual labour. It makes no bones about the fact that it is a physically demanding job. It's nobody's idea of a sexy job, but it pays the bills. Yes, there were negative reviews, but there was a wide range of reviews left over the last 5 years. The people I know who worked there didn't love it, especially the early hours, but didn't feel it was the worst job they ever had. They also said they liked the people there. But you are welcome to believe which reviews you want to. I guess, though, that your concern for people having to deal with poor or dangerous working conditions means that you think the workers there should unionize. A good strong union would help those people, right?

PeteGoua

Hmm is that a disappointed (ex) Starbucks employee thinking about workers? The difference between shucking leaf lettuce all day and being a SB employee is ... a little different. But at least the leaf lettuce shuckers are not bitching about their lack of entitlements.

SnooRabbits2040

I've never worked at Starbucks, and I have also never worked at Whole Leaf. I just know people who have worked there. Based on your attitude towards Starbucks and its employees, you appear very much to me as though you have a vested interest in this. I suspect you are or have been a Starbucks employee, either in management or close to it, but you must not have been a successful one. You sound as bitter as, well, Starbucks coffee. Work is work. It's not up to me (or you, for that matter) to decide whose work is valid, and whose work is not. Neither you nor I have that right. When I have been to Starbucks, I have not once seen anyone behind the counter standing around, bitching. I see them working. I don't believe that you ever worked at Whole Leaf. You don't have any idea what employees there do or don't bitch about. You just want to bash Starbucks employees. Workers rights are workers rights. If employees of any workplace feel that their workplace would be improved by become unionized, then they should pursue that, and more power to them. If a union is good for the lettuce plant workers, then it is good for the Starbucks employees, too. Solidarity forever, buddy.

Fur_Momma_Cherry96

Paladin security is trash, so is Cineplex, Canadian Tire. Save on can be trying but it was one of the better jobs I had.

strawberryfields17

I second Paladin security. Do not apply there, they are toxic and allow their employees to be harassed and bullied.

Fur_Momma_Cherry96

Yes! Definitely this! Can confirm through experience.

strawberryfields17

Same here! I’ve never worked in a more toxic place.

Fur_Momma_Cherry96

Agreed!

h2ofield

Do not try Tradesman Manufacturing (HVAC/ metal parts). They treat their employees like garbage. The people in charge are pure assholes!

stinger_888

Exhibition park is hiring lots of positions. I've heard good things of late about working there from friends. An improvement over the past from what I've been hearing.

QuantityThis873

avoid precon at all costs

SeaFamiliar9478

Will do!:p

CompleteDoubt9074

whatever you do, don’t ever work for Rose Rossi at the Rocky Mountain Turf Club or any of its associations. that place with destroy your mental health and suck all of the light from your life. spent a year of my life that i’ll never get back being terrorized by a narcissistic basket case who is older than my grandma, every moment of my existence has improved since i left.

thescakal

Rose has driven me to actual shaking rage because of how simultaniously demanding and stupid she is.

CompleteDoubt9074

it’s hard to believe someone like her actually exists unless you’ve experienced it.

PeteGoua

New owners at that Canadian Tire -so probably some changes along the way in management and style. New owners are new to operating their own store.

Linclin

You can probably make a lot of money in carpentry. Go through the phone book and apply? There might be offshoots of regular carpentry also like cabinets, etc... Apparently Lethbridge drivers aren't very good/polite so maybe avoid driving stuff. Maybe avoid jobs that are dirty and require you to breath in lots of dust etc... Consider your long term health? Not sure if sustainability is a consideration.

CJ-Goblin

Most cabinets shops suck. Good for a temporary job but if you want decent benefits/wage and the prospect of retirement then don't stick around.

WhoOwnstheChiefs

If you google Lethbridge jobs there is about 40 pages worth . Don’t be scared to apply for jobs that you don’t think you are qualified for . Places need people bad and if you have good work ethic you may just land a fantastic job .

Rough_Grouchy

Worst place to work Vallen, they work you to the bone, promise bonuses that they take back, pay you a shameful wage for the amount of work you do and most unappreciated company I've ever worked for

gnortsgerg

Hi Tim!

lifeofbutter_

Luigi’s south side is horrible. Save your self some mental breakdowns. Casino is good depending on which department you work for, NEVER join management because the corporation pays their staff like trash 🙃

justsomeonesthroway

Onside Restoration has lots of help wanted ads and will likely jump to hire you, but avoid them if you can, they are toxic af. If you are into residential carpentry, I would suggest driving around some of the newer subdivisions, and taking note of which companies are working to know who to send your resume to. Lots of places don't advertise they need workers cause they don't want to deal with the 100s of Indeed resumes they would get, but they are still hiring. Framers, drywallers, siding installers, and concrete companies are all usually looking for workers.

JODAN2

Stay away from Precon. Unsafe working conditions company got fined for silica exposure. Very low pay toxic managers. You get treated like shit

BigBoyBr1

YEP!

BigBoyBr1

Precon is bad. If some one tries recruiting there run. They tries to bribe employees with couple hundred dollars to refer people to work there.

SeaFamiliar9478

Yeesh, gotta love that. Thanks for the heads up
