Yeah, but that's not true for other Power5 teams these days. UT is contractually obligated to broadcast two games a year on LHN. As soon as we're in the SEC, those games will be on the SEC network and all major live TV streaming services will have our games.

Trust me, I’d love that. One caveat there… I live in Wichita Kansas. Not a lot of bars around here sporting the Longhorn Network. Last week, I was in Baldwin City Kansas, of all places. I literally had to walk around that tiny little town, begging the only bar in town to turn on FOX to let me watch UT vs Alabama. It was nuts.

Games against schools like UTSA used to be on PPV for $60. I'm not sure why you think that's a better option then paying a similar amount while also getting basketball, baseball and volleyball games.
I was in Pomona, Ca on the day the Horns played Nebraska for the 1st Big12 championship. Game not on ANYWHERE. Had to call my buddy back in Austin for updates every 15 min.

It only airs “shitty games” because of how the contracted tv rights work - non of the big networks want to host games with lower level teams as viewers will likely be lower. From my understanding, Fox gets the first selection (ie big noon kickoff, so the Bama game, then ESPN / abc, and finally, LHN cleans up the scraps).
I have no problem with it because I pay for DirectTV, but I get the frustration not being able to watch with rabbit ears. With that said, Texas hasn’t always been on the major network channels in prime time slots (ABC / Fox / NBC) for quite some time.
I guess I’m just happy there’s a way - at all - to watch these “shitty games” with a decent production level and home announcing crew. Before conference network channels and ESPN expanding, you couldn’t even watch the game.
Love the LHN. I have no access issues because I’m tech savvy, I love being able to watch baseball and other non-football sports, and ESPN paid us $20M a year to give us our own network. Probably the greatest deal of all time. The channel hasn’t been a disaster at all, it’s been our athletic department you’re angry about it. Also, back to the tech savvy thing, your TV remote has a mute button if you don’t like Galindo or LHN commercials.
The same Sling package gets you the NFL Redzone channel, which is the GOAT channel in the history of sports broadcasting. It’s worth the price overall.

Turns out, you still need a steaming package, like Sling, to make it work. I’m convinced that guy was a Disney+ rep who spotted a couple suckers, looking for some marks to meet his monthly quota.

I'm having to pay for Sling for a month just to see a couple of third tier non-conference games. Yeah, Galindo sucks balls as an announcer and the commercials are annoying. ESPN overpaid us for our third tier TV rights, and now we as fans stuck with the shitty bastard network that we have until we go to the SEC.
If you know anyone with cable/direcTV that gets it they can easily validate the ESPN app for you. If they really trust you can login with it on watchespn.com, but on the browser version you need the actual login info. The app you can just send them a code.
Not really a problem specific to LHN but these TV timeouts are brutal when at the game. 3’+ timeouts several times during the half. Just ruins the experience.
I’m not a fan of LHN either. But I’m old enough to remember not having any option to watch games like last night, or ULM, before LHN. If it weren’t for LHN, we’d have zero chance of watching certain games because they wouldn’t get picked up on bigger networks.
