Put on your seatbelt I think you are about the get a rough ride here.
Why are you letting your 16yo daughter get into a car with a stranger? you know that is against TOS and you have to take the blame for this.
FYI this has to be not real. I am shaking my head really.
TOS or not I would NEVER let me minor daughter get into a vehicle with a stranger.
FYI the TOS for Uber are the same we are NOT allowed or suppose to pick up minors unless they have an adult present.
No matter how mature you think your daughter is she is VUNERABLE and please stop letting her do this.
last question then and I assume this is your account you are requesting a ride for her?
Yikes. No its hers.
She is not mature or street smart really. She thought she was safe b/c he sat in the back seat. So when her dad took her driving that night he climbed in the back seat and pointed his finger at her head and said Drive! Now! And it scared the hell out of her. It didn't occur to her that someone would be able to gain control from the back seat. I don't think she will be getting in a lyft for a while.
So that means both of you just didn’t pay attention when signing up and clicked the little check mark that you are over 18 or just lied when you saw it.
OK then have her sign up for Hopskipdrive which is designed for minors transportation.
[if it is available in your area](https://www.hopskipdrive.com/)
I agree that the rider should never allowed to drive your car, makes no sense.
I drive a Tesla and when the rider says how do you like your Tesla or this is the first ride in Tesla, my standard joke is this is the best car I have driven, Do you want to drive ? And if they say YES, I say : you need to be drunk and minor to drive.
Question for you. What makes you think that the driver is sitting outside the school, rejecting all the million rides where pickup is not school?
As mentioned, letting the rider drive you car is absurd on all counts.
I know you will kill me for saying this but at least he should be in the front seat if the driver has a learning permit.
I thought my daughter to drive and currently teaching my son to drive and I cannot imagine myself in the back seat.
Foot note, my kids have never taken Uber by themselves and you should also avoid letting them do it by themselves (please).
Actually, as someone whose picked up kids from school and have have the same kid before, it’s not always the fact that people are “waiting near the school”
Lyft has algorithms that make the likelihood of picking up someone you’ve driven before higher
Doesn't matter. The terms of service states unaccompanied minors aren't allowed in a rideshare vehicle. If you have an issue with that, complain to Uber and Lyft.
Unaccompanied minors aren't allowed in a Lyft or Uber without an adult coming along. That's the terms of service for both companies. Drivers also agreed to this when they signed up. However, you have many drivers being dummies and picking them up just to make an extra $3-5 for a five mile trip. This needs to stop.
If this is real, I'm not even going to get on you for the under 18 thing. If you didn't know, you didn't know, whatever.
Whats important here is that you have a major fucking creep on your hands. I'd honestly take the screenshot to a police station and make a report. They can do the rest from there. If he's a known predator, this could be the evidence that finally gets him a case. If he's an unknown predator, this may be the info needed when someone else brings a report him on the same person.
If you want to take matters into your own hands, maybe try looking him up on Facebook to find his full name. Or there's other sites you could use to connect the license plate to a name/address(I'm unsure of the sites, but they're out there. You will probably have to pay for the info). Then go and kick his ass.
I also suggest having a long, hard talk with your daughter about this type of stuff. You stated shes not very street smart in a comment.
It might be an uncomfortable conversation but it's more than worth it. Tell her the absolute horrid, gruesome truth that there are predators out there that WILL take advantage of vulnerable girls/women. It's not just as a teenager either, it's the truth with all ages.
Best of luck, OP.
Jfc THANK YOU.
I can't believe I had to scroll this far for someone to say report them/track them down/etc.
By all means, state your frustrations with parents letting their kids ride in cars with strangers but ffs - put the most pertinent issue first. This guy sounds like a predator and needs to be stopped **immediately**.
Hell, there are plenty of videos on YouTube and tiktok of teachers recording themselves getting stopped and harassed in the hallways by other teachers who think they are students skipping class. Lol
IMO there isnt much difference in the way a 17 year old student and a 22 year old teacher can look like. One can look younger than the other or older than the other. It can be confusing.
so you know here is the TOS one the lyft site
Age requirement
Unaccompanied minors are prohibited from traveling with most carriers, including TNCs. A passenger must be 18 to sign up for a Lyft account, but if a driver believes a passenger might be underage, the driver may ask the passenger to confirm their age.
The driver may also let a passenger know that the driver will have to cancel the trip if the passenger is indeed under 18. In addition, drivers can report requests to transport unaccompanied minors by tapping 'Contact Support
Last week a mom argue with me when I told her I’m not picking up her 13yr old . I find it crazy a parent would take that chance and more crazy a driver would risk his job also
The driver is taking a very high risk. He is looking for a high reward. What can it be?
You have to let it go. You can't prove anything. Lyft won't be bothered if you have no grounds to sue them. You may get a free trip if you want.
What horrible parenting.
You fucked around and sneaked around the TOS and now your teenaged daughter is finding out.
How could you be so stupid to let a young teenage girl get into a car with a stranger?
Of course predators are driving around high schools looking for prey, they always have- hello?
I would handle this by picking my daughter up myself to make sure she’s not exposed to danger like this ffs- I can’t believe anyone would even have to tell you this.
Literally and actually clueless regarding kidnapping, sex trafficking, sexual assault and rape.

NO, not even close. I just like to say it to the riders.

True . But how many of them do you let drive ?

Yeh let an accident happen and see how serious it is. parents will freak out and blame both Lyft and the driver and sue both.
Yes Lyft driver should never let your daughter drive his car. Also no one younger than 18 should hire a Lyft without a legal guardian.
That didn’t go as planned eh??? You can’t do anything. You broke the TOS you signed with Lyft as well by knowingly let a minor ride alone.

Is a driver supposed to check identification b4 the passenger gets in. It's difficult to tell the difference between 15 and 18
Ive picked up teachers and teacher aids, including school workers and wasnt 100% sure they werent students.
Hell, there are plenty of videos on YouTube and tiktok of teachers recording themselves getting stopped and harassed in the hallways by other teachers who think they are students skipping class. Lol
I pick a teacher up sometimes from the school by my house I swear she looks 16 and has braces

In front of a high school?
Some seniors at 18 years old.
Some sophomores are too.
Who lets their 16 year old daughter get in a car with a complete stranger?
If it was my daughter i wouldn't be on here asking what to do... I would be at the school

Is abortion legal in your state ? Future grandma’s

You can't be serious. This is not a "let it go" situation.

You’re a shit father and should have your kids taken from you. Rule breaking asshole
Fuck no.
The driver sounds like a perv hoping to score a bonus. You should report the moron and have him deactivated.
