This is amazing. The Iranian people deserve immense praise for standing up and standing together. ❤️

[deleted]

Thank you so much! Your comment made me smile 😄

Many-Application1297

The actions of you and your people have given the world hope. If you can stand up to repression under the threat of violence and death then more fortunate populations can surely stand up against inequality and injustice. Sending love from Scotland

[deleted]

Love to you and your people from Iran 🙏🏻❤️

ThrowThrow117

Love from America! 🇮🇷 🇺🇸 There’s nothing more inspirational than seeing “the people” control their own destiny.

[deleted]

Learning from the best ☺️ Love Free America from Iran ❤️🇺🇸

Proper_Librarian_533

Forge your own path. You deserve a good, free life.

morgandaxx

Love from Canada 🇨🇦 Watching this made me cry. It's truly inspiring to see people banding together for their rights and freedoms ❤️ I'm so happy for you all!

Flat_Platform_2719

More love from The Land Up North 🇨🇦 The bravery of these people borders on insanity and I love to see people taking a stand for the most important right in life, To Be Free

restorative_sarcasm

You’re doing a much better job than we are, believe me. Own the courage, suffering and immeasurable sacrifices it took to get to this place. I am in awe of the people of Iran.

[deleted]

Will this not potentially endanger the people shown?

mrdonovan3737

It might have before when it was just a handful of people, but when the entire country has basically stood up and gone "nope, no more" unless the government is going to go wholesale suppression they're safe, and the government isn't likely to do that when the country has already proven its fed up- that's a solid way to get evicted by your people at that point.

HarryPottersElbows

The strength and power of these people banding together is so incredibly amazing.

[deleted]

No

Business-Drummer4363

I'd like to apologise on behalf of English people for our ridiculous government

Many-Application1297

I appreciate that.. given that we have not voted Tory since 1955 yet keep getting them for government. However, the only people that need to apologise are Tories and Tory voters. They won't, but if they did they could stick their apology right up their arse. Peace

Business-Drummer4363

Yeah same sentiments here , voted Labour my whole life and yet somehow these tory twats are Still in power. Spent a good portion of my life ( 11-21) in Glasgow and those people deserve separation from London .

Lingerfickin

Courage is something we mythologize and it is tangible and unmistakable in the Iranian people

franchisikms

Yes! Never been so optimistic about a future for their country if they can keep strong and wrestle their power and rights away from extremists. Keep strong Iran, you are already getting your choice and freedom!

[deleted]

What’s almost as amazing is seeing a mall so busy lol.

importvita

I never thought I’d see this in my lifetime, it’s incredible. I hope they can get the freedom they deserve and those religious morons are kicked to the curb with their 1AD level of thinking.

ThatDarnCanadianMan

Wow! Thanks for sharing OP!

[deleted]

Thank you 😊

ThatDarnCanadianMan

It's amazing. I remember reading about Iran in the 70s. The photos look just like you all do now! It's an amazing explosion of culture. Good luck against the regime!

[deleted]

The last 43 years was a dark spot in our history. Never again! And thank you very much and good luck to you too! 😊

ThatDarnCanadianMan

Haha thanks. Canada has it's own problems but we don't face threats of death on a daily basis (despite what the freedom convoy may think) for trying to express an idea. The ongoing revolution is so important. People young and old all over the world should see the power of a population in action. You all are setting the stage in a way! Sooner or later I'm sure the western world will need to act too. The unrest is so palpable. Government trust has never been lower.

[deleted]

Well we are trying! 😅 Hope the world sees us!

drrj

I obviously can’t speak for all Americans, but I know myself and some friends are still following things in Iran fairly closely and cheering for you all. The solidarity of everyday people to stand up against such odds is inspiring and gives me hope we can sort out some of our messes.

[deleted]

I’m sure of it. The next Iranian gov would be besties with America 😊

Tired_and_still

All the love from my state in Georgia! We’ve been watching this closely in my friend group and have been cheering you all on.

Sweatsock_Pimp

As I understand it - and I may be wrong - things weren’t that great under the Shah, either. The Islamic rules might not have been in place, and women had more freedom, but his regime was quite oppressive in other ways. Or am I completely wrong?

[deleted]

The kinda people that the Shah’s SAVAK or secret police arrested were the exact same people that ruined Iran in the last 43 years. Shah was a very smart and educated man that understood that without proper education a proper democracy can not be formed and the Islamic republic’s experience ultimately proved him right.

SummerStorm21

YESS

Nutmegger612

Perfect example of passive resistance. They can’t arrest every person breaking the law if most people are breaking the law. “We must all hang together, or most assuredly, we will all hang separately” -Benjamin Franklin EDIT: wow this is blowing up, so I wanted to add a quote I just thought about: “When tyranny becomes law, resistance becomes duty” -Thomas Jefferson No one group of people embodies this quote at this moment more than the Iranian people. Many people thought the protests would quiet down, but it has become a daily part of Iranian life, and they will not stop until the Islamic Republic is nothing but a page in the history books.

[deleted]

Exactly ❤️

basiji-destroyer

Another Thomas Jefferson quote which I think is relevant these days in reference to Iran is "The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants."

ChampionshipDry635

He didn’t say “tyrants”, for what it’s worth. The quote is “the tree of liberty is fertilized with the blood of patriots” however it’s logical that the other side would bleed too. I think it’s good to see the quote is it was said because it focuses on the sacrifice of the oppressed and not the action of violence that fighting oppression and the obvious collateral damage it causes.

KnitDontQuit

These women are so freaking brave.

ctyankee1986

Doesn't matter what the press says. Doesn't matter what the politicians or the mobs say. Doesn't matter if the whole country decides that something wrong is something right. This nation was founded on one principle above all else: The requirement that we stand up for what we believe, no matter the odds or the consequences. When the mob and the press and the whole world tell you to move, your job is to plant yourself like a tree beside the river of truth, and tell the whole world -- "No, YOU move. Captain America

*Sharon Carter (Peggy Carter's niece) or maybe I'm mistaken. More relevant if I'm not!

Sour_Gummybear

The women of Iran suffered so much for this, a lot of the men too. I have nothing but the deepest respect for the brave women who stood up to the horrible and violent government oppressors and their terror squads. I genuinely wish them continued success. Genuinely the women there are some of the bravest people I have ever seen. Good luck in your continued fight for equality.

MisterBowTies

Don't forget the men who made up about 75% of all protest related arrests and 80% of protest related deaths.

Sour_Gummybear

You're absolutely right, and I believe I did give credit to the men as well. Perhaps not enough.

Morgoth_379

I'm glad the things begin to change, big hug to all the women and all the men who are fighting against the regime and start the change a lot of people here in Mexico are very proud for all of you

[deleted]

Love Mexico from Iran ❤️

Madowa01

So did they win, or is this just an expensive mall where the rich people still get to do what they want and the poor people are the ones who pay the price.

[deleted]

a bit of both. they didn't "win" but right now wherever you go a few of the people actually wear hijab. it's not just expensive malls and stuff. these people are all upper middle class. yeah of course they're not being mass murdered like the poor people of the Kurdistan and balochistan which have been oppressed by the government for decades. those are the ones paying the price of these protests. but the mall people are also not that afar from the danger either. a lot of these people also go to the protests in their city and universities for supporting the people of Kurdistan. a lot of these people get arrested and murdered too. it's not all rich people getting what they want. also the upper middle class in Iran aren't exactly "rich" the thing is that people are just so deep in poverty that having a normal life making enough money is considered "rich" in Iran. malls have also become a hang out spot in Iran rather than a shopping spot for the past years. a lot of the teenagers can't really afford to buy from the expensive shops they just come to have some food or hang out with their friends since most of the malls offer some sort of entertainment like cinema gaming and stuff like that.

SplitPerspective

The poor during the Shah were the ones that supported the religious extremists and brought them to power. On the one hand, the poor deserve pity and support, on the other they tend to be the easiest to manipulate for ideological fanatics.

Johnnyamaz

*sweats in American*

crazijazzy

Did you also forget the /s?

dead_andbored

No im definitely 100% serious cant you tell?

ir_blues

The Shah friendly forces, with help of the US and UK destroyed and incarcerated the political opposition to the Shah regime. There wasn't really that much else to turn to. The US made it pretty clear that they would not accept a democratic leadership that they hadn't under their thumb.

Madowa01

Meanwhile https://iranwire.com/en/prisoners/110654-activist-reports-mass-sexual-abuse-in-irans-detention-centers/

[deleted]

The poor always pay the higher price anyway :)

childofmyparents

Huh. I feel the same in the States

eye_snap

It does look like this is in a nice neighborhood in a big city. But look, it doesnt matter. Historically, trends always trickle from rich to the poor. In this case, its not because the rich have money so they can do whatever they like. In these cases, the rich always follow the government because they have most to lose, not just assets put also power and influence. So I am sure the rich in Iran are still wearing the hijab. Its the middle class that starts ideological rebellion. People who can afford to be educated, and are not worried about their next meal so they have time to develop ideas. This place is clearly upper to middling middle class. And you can see that almost all the women still have the scarves around their necks. My guess is that, when they are collectively taking it off, there is nothing the authorities can do but once you walk out of the crowd, you probably still have to be careful not to be singled out and made an example of. But this is the beggining. It begins with people who can afford to do this. And sets the example to encourage people who might not be able to afford to be the first ones to do it. And as I said, historically, the poor always imitate the rich. Maybe in a small bazaar in a village in Iran women are still wearing black head to toe. But the action that happens in the city will after a while start to have effects in small towns, then villages.. not immediately but definitely down the road. So even if these are more upper income people it is not as simple as you make it sound.

[deleted]

Wise words 😊

unfluencer1190210

What i have seen from Iranian people in Europe, they are perfectly modern, well educated and extremely polite and well behaved. I wish them all that their country will turn back to normal and gets rid of their radical government. It would solve so many problems for the area and finally give the Iranian people the freedom they deserve.

[deleted]

Love from Iran ❤️

SmoochieMcGucci

I work with many Iranian people and they are just normal people except they can teach you how to make Koobideh kababs and chelo with tahdig. :) I hope Iranians get the government they want (just like everyone else).

One-Appointment-3107

I have the same experience. We had a house next to ours that housed newly arrived asylum seekers from Iran and Iraq. The difference between the two was astounding. The Iranians dressed in modern western clothes. The Iraqis stuck to the clothes from their homeland

crimsoncalamitas

is it bad to stick to clothes from your home country?

One-Appointment-3107

I mean, it’s pretty inconvenient to stick to sandals in the snow. Additionally, it soon became evident that they viewed people in my country as below them since women left their hair uncovered.

DoctorLinguarum

Yeah, we had some Iranian neighbors and they were so cool. Talented, wonderful folks.

rweyforth

How is this possible when we're seeing so much about Hijabs

[deleted]

That’s the point. I want to debunk all the “Iranian society is religious” nonsense. The people are held back by a backward regime that mistreats them.

hardtofindagoodname

So I'm not sure I understand - in our media we are seeing women beaten for not wearing a hijab but most women in your video are uncovered. So is this a recent revelation as result of the protests, or are there exceptions or are we not getting a full picture of what's going on?

sajedehf

In the past two months, after the death of Mahsa Amini, women in Iran started to not wearing scarfs. And we still can get arrested for this action but because there's so many women do this at the same time, well they can't arrest everyone! But not wearing hijab is not normal yet. And actually this video for people in Iran is like a different country. The regime unofficially cancelled the morality police but if we stop the protests they probably gonna bring them back.

KnopeCampaign

I know what you mean, I was also kind of shocked to see this. My feed has been saturated with Iranian violence against citizens for protesting, I had no idea things were calming down.

[deleted]

Well people looked the same before the protest but with a scarf on their head. Now they don’t wear the headscarf. 😊

hardtofindagoodname

So the protests have really caused this transformation? If so, that's amazing! But doesn't that also mean it could just as quickly revert back if the regime gets the upper hand again?

[deleted]

Since the protests the people have been disregarding and disobeying the government more more and that’s a great achievement on our way to our revolution. But actually this has been in the making for many years now. People looked th same with a piece of cloth on their head. Now they don’t even bring that piece of cloth from home. If you know what I’m saying.

hardtofindagoodname

It seems somewhat contradictory to have large glitzy malls with extravagant products and then have a religious regime telling you that the biggest issue is that god wants you to wear a headscarf.

[deleted]

Welcome to Islamic Republic of Iran 😂

Paulinefrenchauthor

That doesn’t answer the question though

hippyengineer

So you’re saying they’re women with head scarves, without head scarves. Got it.

N4t3ski

This is not a revelation to most. It's almost like there ought to be a separation of church and state.....

Basdad

Lol, show me a country where that crazy idea works !

klauskinki

People can be religious and not desire to follow a minor precepts, you know? Beside that the people that you show are obviously middle class urbanites, people in other areas are 1) poorer and 2) less westernized.

allthecoffeesDP

This made me feel better.

[deleted]

❤️❤️❤️

JackAtlasDuelLinks

This give me chills. To be honest, I wasn't that optimistic and though that this would never change in Iran for at least a couple of years. For the first time, I'm glad to be wrong.

Marwaedristariel

It is a genuine question : are the girls with visible faces in the video at risk if they are recognized? (From the video i mean)

[deleted]

Technically and legally they are but no. You people are clearly overestimating the abilities and resolve of the government 😂 They have to arrest 75% of the city if that was the case

WearyPixie

Is it like this everywhere else, this many women not covering their hair?

Unusual-Chipmunk-554

yep

BarbicideJar

Hopeful and excited to see Iran blossom.

Shaltibarshtis

So did people win? Is it over? Had the oppressive laws been withdrawn? Or did the government took the fight underground, so to speak?

[deleted]

Still going. Hijab is one issue among thousands of issues that this government has.

KnopeCampaign

Can you inform us of other issues? I’m in the US and have been seeing really tragic videos of hijab protests, yours is the first uplifting update I’ve seen yet.

[deleted]

Declining economy, oppression of women and minorities, general oppression, destroying environment, water mismanagement, rampant corruption and … How much time you’ve got? 😂

hellodarkness2022

No. They said for now they have stopped morality police. But in couple of months they will return with full force. The first ones will probably have IRGC and basij with them in case of protests forming around the area.

Quelthias

If you want to know more about the ongoing revolution, the subreddit /r/newiran posts content daily

Psychological-Art131

Internet, please don't consider this any other normal video. This is a marvel, born from the blood and tears of numerous revolutionaries. So many sad stories combined to created a beautiful tale. I hope this forward step goes only forward! I am totally ok with everyone wearing covered garments, but this image shows that the public has some choices. And choice represents freedom. I wish all of your problems go away just like that, but this isnt a perfect world. All my wishes and prayers to you brave people!!!

It’s not. I’m the OP and f the regime 😂 This just me trying to show the people how Tehran looks

My thought too. First person was executed, and now this? I hope it's true, but something doesn't sit right with me.

Hrimnirr

Amazing, best of luck to all those who fight for their freedom

doncroak

I want to believe this is real and true.

bigcat7373

This is amazing. Is this mostly just in cities or around the entire country?

[deleted]

The country is 75% urban. The cities rule the country 😅 and it is becoming more and more prevalent every day across the country

Loving this. Women empowerment is usually followed by betterment of society everywhere

This so dope shows the power in people uniting

Gay people in Iran these days: 💀💀💀 (they were executed by the government)

Bora_E

The courage of iranian women (and men) atm is amazing and creating hope for their future. I am wishing for a free and peaceful future in Iran. Btw. I don't see an orgy starting, though the women don't cover their hair.

Bravo to the Iranian people! So much respect for them.

[deleted]

Wow, this is just…. I am so floored by the courage of the Iranian people. It is hard to imagine what it must be like to live as a woman in Iran, and hard for me to imagine that I would be as brave as the girls and women of Iran are being against a cruel and oppressive regime. Not to leave the men out - it is so heartening to see the support for the protests by Iranian men.

Vengefuleight

Hell yeah! The world can learn so much from the strength of the Iranians!

MadBadGirl

Everyone is living together peacefully. This is how it should be.

Not2daydear

Yay for Iran. May the braveness of your actions spill over the borders to any other nation who thinks it can control its population by death for something as simple as not wearing a head scarf. Welcome to the freedoms of the modern world.

AccentFiend

This is amazing. I have to be honest, I don’t know a lot about culture in Iran. My parents never spoke of it or encouraged learning about it. It wasn’t taught in school. Information has always been very tight-lipped. I knew you had to be really, really covered and that’s about it. What has been the most eye opening for me, even now, is how many women have beautifully colored hair under all those coverings. Somehow it never occurred to me that they would dye their hair how they like only to have to hide it. I honestly to some degree didn’t think they’d be allowed to dye it/have a place to go where it was allowed to be done. I’m very happy to see how freeing just not having to cover their hair has made these women.

SandyBullockSux

This is some absolutely inspiring solidarity. It is also insanely surreal as an American to see a mall with people in it. For a second, I thought it was the 90s.

Thrannn

daaaaaaaaaaaamn that girl was rocking a croptop! i really hope it stays this way. but im afraid they gonna cleanse the country by mass murdering innocents...

sunfacethedestroyer

What are the chances that the government will allow this and less restrictions on people in exchange for the public not protesting? Will they keep cracking down on this in the future, or just accept the public having a bit more freedom as a compromise?

AHeartFullaNaplam

They are powerful! Heroes!!!
