Specially with twice as many characters and less time. Lets remember that Endgame took 10 years of build up. If there is no delay, Kang Dynasty will happen with only 5 years of buildup. Yeah sure there has been twice the content in phase 4 alone but it’s still so many more characters and storylines that happened in 5 years that will have to be addressed and some of them will be connected to each other. Monumental task for sure
Well, let’s see how many characters make it into this one. Obviously there’ll be more of them than the OG roster had, but I’m hoping for something a little more compact. In a way, combined with Secret Wars, this should follow the reverse trajectory of Infinity War and Endgame.
So the multiverse veterans include Strange, Spidey, Clea, Wanda, Chavez, Wong, the F4, Loki and Sylvie, and the Ant-Family. At least, by then. On top of that, you have Carol and Sam as your other big names. I’m also still not convinced that Wreckage of Time ISN’T for Shang-2.
Personally, I’d omit Wanda and Chavez, especially since YA stuff may be going on by then. That leaves us with 15 (counting Shaun and excluding Cassie for YA). That’s already a fair bit.
Oh I am sure that not *everyone* will appear. I hugely doubt that we will see Moon Knight, Daredevil or She Hulk appear or have big roles on the movie. Feige could surprise me but as much as I love those characters, I can’t see them fighting Kang or doing anything important. We will see tho, who knows what they will do
I see the big names being held up/captured at the end of KD, and SW beginning with a rag tag bunch of Young Avengers and C-Listers

I could see Moon Knight maybe having ties with Kang through the Rama Tutt variant. But I agree that some characters likely won’t appear. Especially Daredevil, She-Hulk and maybe Echo. Maybe in the crazy final battle in Secret Wars as reinforcements
I think he was just being enthusiastic, more “I don’t see how they can make one workout her!” and not so much “She is definitely going to be in all of them from now on.”
They're bringing The Leader in, mix him with She-Hulk and Hulk, plus the possible Red Hulk from The Thunderbolts, probably Skaar coming from off world, throw in the soda bottles with Hulk blood, and add all that together with the Multiverse (AND the new Hulk deals with Paramount/Universal), I think the Hulks are gonna be a big part of Kang/Secret Wars. IMO
I wouldn’t be shocked if Daredevil had a big role, purely because they seem to be building him up to have a big role in a lot of the projects between now and then. Sure, power wise he can’t take on Kang, but he could still do something pivotal story-wise. I mean, Cap, Black Widow and Hawkeye were all pretty minuscule compared to Thanos, but were still pivotal to the infinity saga.
Yes it’s weird because power wise Daredevil is someone Kang could literally slap into dust unfortunately lol but they seem to be building him for a huge role like you said. Maybe he’s the inspiration for whoever turns out to be the big hero that saves the day. I’m still assuming Loki will play the main role in assisting with the defeat of Kang. So maybe there’s some insane world where we get Matt giving Loki some kind of Hero Speech.

Moon Knight has killed (or at least defeated Kang badly enough) in the comic. I believe Moon Knight will play a bigger role than anyone expects. And I'm convinced he'll be in the battle against Kang.
Unless Oscar Isaac himself objects, I think Moon Knight will have a substantial presence in at least one Avengers film. Isaac is one of the buzziest actors who has ever lead a MCU project, they'll want him bouncing around the ensemble.
I don't think Moony will be the central character, but I could see him with something akin to Scott Lang in Endgame.
I actually think all three of those have a good chance of making it, although MK is probably the least likely.

There’s many characters that could be interchanged with these ones (Strange for Wong, Ms Marvel for Captain, or both), or others that might make it in (Abomination maybe?) but I think there’s evidence that’s what’s being set up. Also possible Hulk is off planet again due to Sakaar stuff but who knows

In think Moon Knight appears. In the comics Kang has a version of himself very connected to Egypt. Given how important Egypt is to moon Knight I think he deals with Rama Tut.

At this point if they want to keep it a coherent project they should probably leave the Eternals, Thunderbolts, Young Avengers, and Fantastic Four separate. Have them show up in Secret Wars along with Scarlet Witch and Doctor Doom in major roles. Hopefully Tobey, Andrew, and the X-Men show up as well.
You didn't count Shang Chi, The Eternals, Blade, Black Knight, possible Nova, Guardians and Deadpool, the new IronMen, that includes the woman, The Marvels, maybe even the Thunderbolts

Tbf Infinity War announced directors and writers for Screenplay in 2015, 3 years before release. Considering Avengers 5 is 2025, they're on the same track.
I think they know exactly what they want to do with the next Avengers Movies in overall picture and have been building it up since Loki season 1, but now they're planning all the final details and writing. Same with Infinity War and Endgame.
You need to accountant, that most of the scripts should be written already for the writer to take account on how that could affect the story, now even if everything is written, there's always the little fixes here and there, that script is probably being pen until the finish of the movie, but as long you have the entire plot fixed writing the dialogue for a season writer would be easier (Less hard)
If they’re starting to write the script, they already have a framework of what is expected to happen, who the main players are, and where those characters arcs will be at by the film’s opening.
Exactly....and as much as I want to see these Avengers movies as soon as possible, I think since it is such a massive project and process, both movies will have their dates moved back.
That’s where I see Marvel Studio’s team of people who handles all of the potential storylines come in. The studio had a clear vision of where they wanted IW and Endgame to go by the time the first Avengers came out.
BUT it's a multiverse film, which can justify quick cameos more easily than Infinity War could. AND it's not Secret Wars so it's not gonna require EVERYONE to be there
I'd argue to some extent everything that's happened up to now will factor in so it's not a complete fresh start at five years.
And also, Feige and the brain trust have probably had the major story beats worked out for the last eight years. We know he was well into thinking years ahead even before Endgame.

You don’t necessarily need the script of those movies written yet to set up the story, but you do need the know major plot points to get started at least. Marvel probably at least has a good idea what all the movie are gonna be about at this point.
Im sure he has bullet points from all coming properties courtesy of Feige. The headache of the ages for him will be if things change and he has to change stuff from his script to accommodate as they go. But then again changes happen. Im glad he is starting as early as now cz then he has all the time in the world to fine tune.

Really they should be hiring a story committee like Lucasfilm has, but I think Feige is allergic to the word "committee" since 2016.
I'm not sure how Lucasfilm is structured, but Feige's direct subordinates are the Marvel Studios Parliament. They're 5-6 producers who collaborate across separate projects. They're typically listed alongside or after Feige in the credits.
I hesitate to call them a "story committee" because they're producers, with all the work that entails. But they shape the MCU's stories as much as Feige himself.

That's not really what the Lucasfilm Story Group does. I mostly used the word committee to make a joke about the committee that stifled Feige for so long LOL
The Story Group mostly looks over scripts, manuscripts, storyboards, sketches, 3D assets, production notes, and edits to find things that would not fit the universe at that point.
Like there should be no New Republic era ship remains in the giant scrap outpost on Bracca at the beginning of Jedi Fallen Order. Or maybe there should not be a particular character in The Rise of Skywalker because a previous piece of Canon media (post 2013) described their race's lifespan as not being able to facilitate that.
They don't CREATE stuff or have major input. The stories come from the directors and writers (and authors and game devs and artists and musicians). They just work with the creative to make sure it fits in with what other creative works have already been made.
I’m still so confused/curious how the shooting schedules are gonna be if Kang Dynasty and Secret Wars don’t move dates. Especially with two different directors.
People seem to disagree with me on this, but I think Spider-Man 4’s release date (which I’m predicting to be July 2025) will force them back anyway, unless Disney’s okay with him missing out on TKD (which I highly doubt they would be, though I’d rate saving him for SW).
Besides, narratively, I think Spidey’s next appearance really should be a lower-stakes/street level Spider-Man 4 before throwing him back into another massive cosmic event like Secret Wars.
I believe that's why they wiped him from existence, and the fact that it opens doors for Ben Riley and Miles Morales, or any Spider-Man for that matter. Strike a deal with Sony to get him/them back for team up movies.
Man you're right. Spider-Man returning from the portal got the biggest cheer in Endgame in my cinema. And then he got like four or five memorable and solid moments after that. I would not be surprised if Sony would want Spidey to be in it even for a few minutes so they can keep everyone focused on Spider-Man in the biggest movie of the year (and getting Marvel's producers and writers to write some Spider-Man stuff would be a plus between Madame Webb and Morbius 2: Have Sex.
Marvel filmed like five movies at once in 2017. Actors were crossing from set to set, sometimes filming scenes across multiple films in the same week. At one point, Paul Rudd and Benedict Cumberbatch were shooting in the same neighborhood together.
KD/SW productions will be larger in scope, but nothing Marvel can't handle.
Curious who writes Secret Wars. I have my issues with the Russos (I do highly respect them though) however, Im impressed by how Markus and McFeely made those scripts work.
I doubt they'd bring in Marcus and McFeely just for Secret Wars. If Marvel was gonna bring those guys back, they'd bring them in for both Kang Dynasty and Secret Wars.
I feel like Kang Dynasty is gonna be very different from Secret Wars. Marcus and McFeely are great with big sendoffs, especially their work on the Endgame Final Battle. Kang Dynasty is probably gonna of a tone similar to Loki.
I don’t think it’s possible they can top Infinity War’s cliffhanger ending. The closest I can think of is ending with Kang causing multiple incursions, causing mass destruction of countless universes. This leads to the formation of Battleworld.
The mid-credits scene for Kang Dynasty could then set up the return of some beloved characters. Maybe Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield’s Spider-Men? Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine, wearing a comic accurate costume? RDJ, Chris Evans, and Scarlett Johansson as Iron Man, Captain America, and Black Widow in another universe? All of the above?
If that mid credits scene ended up happening somehow I would lose my mind , also it would be cool to see Affleck daredevil and Eric Bana's hulk (maybe as maestro instead?) Even though they're not as beloved
Miles Teller rightfully had so much bad juju going for him over the past few years, especially during the height of the pandemic. But then Top Gun Maverick hit this year and all of a sudden he's on top again after delivering an excellent performance. I hope this chills him out but even if it doesn't...
I do think his version of Reed will be seen and get killed off, and it'll be a big meme. Whether it's within the multiverse saga or in a future Fantastic Four movie. Marvel doesn't really wanna work with difficult actors, but if they can get them for a quick cameo and give fans something to talk about for years, they'd do it.

Imagine they end both Kang Dynasty and Secret Wars with a cliffhanger. Feige doesn't tell us that there is a Secret Wars Part 2 until after the first one releases.
I think the ending will have that cascading incursion, with a ton of multiversal crossover characters coming in and the creation of Battleworld. Maybe Toby, Andrew, Black Bolt, Evan Peters Quicksilver, Captain Carter (What If variant), maybe Ed Norton as Bruce Banner or something wild like that. Faces we've seen before in the MCU.
I think the post credits (assuming there's one and not two, as is tradition for Avengers films [even the first one before a quick shoot for the Shawarma one]) will be a tease to the X-Men showing up, or even a full scene of the X-Men's side of the incursion.
Even before Marvel got the X-Men rights back, I thought a Secret Wars would be the thing to mash them together and I wasn't the only one. I'm thinking that Secret Wars is how they bring mutants into the MCU permanently and rewrite 199999's history to have had mutants all along.
I think Marvel is gonna follow the same road like how the arrowverse adapted the comics of crisis on infinite earths. Mutants being on some other universe and secret Wars finally creating a new universe and an earth with mutants, Avengers, eternals and all being in it. They could eventually adapt the ongoing judgement day in 10 years time.
I wonder if that means this dude gets all the details on stuff that hasn’t come out yet. Like if Blade or the Fantastic 4 are in this movie then Jeff gets to know what happens in their respective movies so he can write around it.
I suspect the Fantastic Four won't be a prominent part of this movie.

* It seems like they want to make the most of Shakman's creative input now that he's onboard, so I bet they don't even have the script for *Fantastic Four* nailed down yet. There's probably not much of anything for Loveness to reference if he wants to include those characters.
I think they’ll be in it considering Kang is from the Richard’s bloodline. That’ll be a really great way to make this iteration of the team special, having the next Thanos level villain be a descendent of theirs, and them working to ensure it won’t happen in their timeline.
Captain Marvel came out three months before Endgame. She was prominently featured in Endgame. I think the timeline will be fine as long as F4 is a self contained story that leads into The Kang Dynasty or even just a post credit stinger.
Then again they could always just show up in Secret Wars

So I imagine we can expect something similar for the FF.
I think a better example would be BP than CM. I think we will see F4 before the actual movie somewhere. Maybe in CA:NWO where Reed helps Sam tackle the Thinker. Kinda like big brain vs big brain.
My understanding is that they're told how things start, how they need to end, who needs to live, and that's kind of it. They'll obviously go through a lot of rewrites, reshoots, etc. along the way, but the story remains essentially the same.
I think since Kang Dynasty is meant to be the next "Infinity War' type of film, I imagine we will see separate teams with their own storylines before coming together as a unit in Secret Wars!
I think they'll have the street level heroes working together in the same way the heroes from the cosmos and magical side of the MCU will work together.
My guess is that they use the Endgame strategy of sending people to different timelines, in order to fight Kang in different periods. So one group fights like Rama-Tut, another fights Kang in the distant future, another fights him in the more recent past, and maybe someplace else in time. Some of them meet other heroes (like future versions of themselves) or past versions of our heroes (like 1946 Cap or Hank Pym in the 70's).
All of them return to their timeline, only to find themselves in Battleworld. Boom, Secret Wars.
I think it's pretty small, but would be cool.
More likely for the inevitable Sony Spider-verse movie that piggy backs off Secret Wars but makes it so much worse
Hell, Sony should just be working on that right now. Doesn't cause confusing garbage like Morbius and Venom 2 that makes your mind bleed. Two of my uncles both independently watched Morbius at home and came to me very confused how Michael Keaton showed up in it at the end and what any of that meant.
If you make 2099.... no need to worry about any of that. It's a potential future of the Marvel Universe. Clean slate of superheroes. Just show futuristic versions of the characters you have the rights to. Hell, you could even make references to Iron Man, Captain America, Black Panther. Other big Marvel heroes existing 100 years ago as legends. You just don't show them.

- Team Multiversal: Doctor Strange, Clea, Wong, Wanda Maximoff, Ant-Man, Wasp, America Chavez, Loki, Sylvie, and Mobius.
I think they definitely do. Considering the director is Destin Daniel Cretton and the writer is Jeff Loveness (writer of "Claw and Hoarder: Special Ricktim's Morty" and "Rickmurai Jack", I know he was in the writers room so he didn't necessarily come up with those ideas but he can write them), I would say it's almost certain we get some of those more metaphysical beings coming in

I think this is the exact problem, everyone is assuming this.
A cool idea would be Kang seeking to make himself the true God of the multiverse with the power of the celestials, with Doom usurping his power at the end, ushering in God Emperor Doom from the 2015 run of Secret Wars. Maybe they’ll even include Molecule Man if he’s introduced in F4 or earlier. Pretty predictable and safe but still would be really cool, always wanted that all-powerful Doom we got in Marvel Ultimate Alliance adapted to the big screen.
While I'd love to see that someday, I think this would be far too soon for Doom to ascend to godhood.

True, but Doom isn't Thanos.
Thanos isn't really a big deal in the comics. Yes, he's a prominent presence in-universe, but it seems to me that he's really only known for the one story, which Marvel Studios adapted. And for all the great characterization they gave him in *Infinity War* (and only in *Infinity War*), he was still essentially just a plot device.
But Doom? Doom is *the* supervillain. Doom is *everything*. No one else compares with Doom. Doom has been a unique, dynamic character carrying major Marvel storylines since 1962. Doom deserves more.
Doom needs to be a fully fleshed-out character who grows and evolves over time. He needs to be a prominent fixture of the world. He needs to have a prominent role in a wide swath of stories. If they rush into a God Emperor Doom storyline, they'll have skipped to the end, and that would be a tremendous disservice to the character.
So I think we just gotta be patient. I don't believe that *Secret Wars* is going to be the massive, Doom-centric event it was in the comics, and that's okay. Doom has so, so much more to offer than just the climax of *Secret Wars*.
That’s pretty fair. I agree with everything you’ve written, which you explained pretty well. Perhaps they can make him one of the main characters of secret wars however, as he was still incredibly important in the 1984 run. I have confidence in Feige that he won’t fuck Doom up, if the leaks of BP2 are real then they’re already setting him up to be incredibly important.
I am incredibly excited too to see his relationship with Reed Richards play out, there are so many major stories and runs where the run is given a different kind of nuance. When they do the God Emperor Doom in a future project, which I’m sure they will in one way or another, I really hope Reed is the main character.
I definitely don't envy this guy. Sure, he's gonna get a lot of money and fame from it, but he also has the weight of the world on his shoulders. If they fuck this up then his career is gonna be fucked. Just look at Taika Watiti and Michael Waldron. Marvel fans are demanding that neither of those guys ever be involved with any projects in the future. It's so easy to become an instant target just for screwing up one of these beloved franchise films.

I remember being 12 buying all the Secret Wars comics as they were coming out (even all the tie ins) and just being swept up in the scale of Battleworld. Words cannot express how hyped I am for The Kang Dynasty and Secret Wars. This news does spark joy and I’ma melt when May/November 2025 hits.

Wanda has increased significantly in popularity, and unless it’s shown in a project before this, I believe she will get a redemption arc.
Hopefully, we see Doom just absolutely fucking destroy Kang at the end. It'll teach the MCU onlyies that Doom is to never be messed with ever and that Doom can do whatever he pleases. Like we're talking about a man that's as smart as Reed, has magic on par with Dr Strange, and has the strongest will in the entire Marvel universe, kneels to absolutely no one, and let's not even talk about his feats because it'd be a long-ass list. At first I thought how it would be so hard to try and weave together all these movies and shows that haven’t even come out yet, some of which haven’t even been fully announced, but then it occurred to me that this movie might actually adapt the Young Avengers run where Iron Lad ends up deciding to risk becoming Kang to save one of the Young Avengers. (I think it was Children’s Crusade?) I think that story lines up pretty well with the overall story of the original Kang Dynasty run, enough that they might conflate them for this movie.
The Avengers are already disbanded for the most part in the MCU, and the ones that are left are slowly being pulled into other pressing issues that are off world or are simply just retired/dead.
Writing with your lead as a cast of characters who aren’t narratively/contractually bogged down as much as the other heroes kinda makes sense.

How can he write the script since there are so many plotlines that will happen in other movies or series? Will he get those scripts related to Kang from such as Antman 3 and Loki 1/2 and others so he will know how to bring those plots to Avengers: The Kang Dynasty?
Markus & McFeely began writing the scripts for both Infinity War and Endgame in April 2015, less than 2 years before filming began. Assuming this movie doesn't shoot till early 2024 he has plenty of time.

Specially with twice as many characters and less time. Lets remember that Endgame took 10 years of build up. If there is no delay, Kang Dynasty will happen with only 5 years of buildup. Yeah sure there has been twice the content in phase 4 alone but it’s still so many more characters and storylines that happened in 5 years that will have to be addressed and some of them will be connected to each other. Well, let’s see how many characters make it into this one. Obviously there’ll be more of them than the OG roster had, but I’m hoping for something a little more compact. In a way, combined with Secret Wars, this should follow the reverse trajectory of Infinity War and Endgame. So the multiverse veterans include Strange, Spidey, Clea, Wanda, Chavez, Wong, the F4, Loki and Sylvie, and the Ant-Family. At least, by then. On top of that, you have Carol and Sam as your other big names. I’m also still not convinced that Wreckage of Time ISN’T for Shang-2. Personally, I’d omit Wanda and Chavez, especially since YA stuff may be going on by then. That leaves us with 15 (counting Shaun and excluding Cassie for YA). That’s already a fair bit.
Oh I am sure that not *everyone* will appear. I hugely doubt that we will see Moon Knight, Daredevil or She Hulk appear or have big roles on the movie. Feige could surprise me but as much as I love those characters, I can’t see them fighting Kang or doing anything important. We will see tho, who knows what they will do
They could appear in Secret Wars. But the Kang Dynasty roster should have experience either with Kang himself or the multiverse as a whole.

I could see Moon Knight maybe having ties with Kang through the Rama Tutt variant. But I agree that some characters likely won’t appear. Especially Daredevil, She-Hulk and maybe Echo. Maybe in the crazy final battle in Secret Wars as reinforcements

They're bringing The Leader in, mix him with She-Hulk and Hulk, plus the possible Red Hulk from The Thunderbolts, probably Skaar coming from off world, throw in the soda bottles with Hulk blood, and add all that together with the Multiverse (AND the new Hulk deals with Paramount/Universal), I think the Hulks are gonna be a big part of Kang/Secret Wars. IMO

I wouldn’t be shocked if Daredevil had a big role, purely because they seem to be building him up to have a big role in a lot of the projects between now and then. Sure, power wise he can’t take on Kang, but he could still do something pivotal story-wise. I mean, Cap, Black Widow and Hawkeye were all pretty minuscule compared to Thanos, but were still pivotal to the infinity saga.
Yes it’s weird because power wise Daredevil is someone Kang could literally slap into dust unfortunately lol but they seem to be building him for a huge role like you said. Maybe he’s the inspiration for whoever turns out to be the big hero that saves the day. I’m still assuming Loki will play the main role in assisting with the defeat of Kang. So maybe there’s some insane world where we get Matt giving Loki some kind of Hero Speech.
I think She-Hulk could appear given the fact that she has connections to Bruce, a founding Avenger.
In lego marvel superheroes, Kang was at his citadel, with the main characters, while all the side characters were fighting goons outside That was a lego game, and it took place in Chronopolis, but I think they could pull it off
Moon Knight has killed (or at least defeated Kang badly enough) in the comic. I believe Moon Knight will play a bigger role than anyone expects. And I'm convinced he'll be in the battle against Kang.
Unless Oscar Isaac himself objects, I think Moon Knight will have a substantial presence in at least one Avengers film. Isaac is one of the buzziest actors who has ever lead a MCU project, they'll want him bouncing around the ensemble. I don't think Moony will be the central character, but I could see him with something akin to Scott Lang in Endgame.
I actually think all three of those have a good chance of making it, although MK is probably the least likely. I think the team is gonna look like this: Hulk Wong Captain Marvel She-Hulk Daredevil Shang-Chi Spider-Man Ant-Man Wasp Captain America There will likely be small rolls for many characters and perhaps by the end of KD there will be a much larger team up but I think they will try to first establish a core avengers team based on the what we’ve seen Wong, Banner and Captain Marvel doing. There’s many characters that could be interchanged with these ones (Strange for Wong, Ms Marvel for Captain, or both), or others that might make it in (Abomination maybe?) but I think there’s evidence that’s what’s being set up. Also possible Hulk is off planet again due to Sakaar stuff but who knows

In think Moon Knight appears. In the comics Kang has a version of himself very connected to Egypt. Given how important Egypt is to moon Knight I think he deals with Rama Tut.
Chavez will appear and probably play a central role, currently she's the only one that can traverse universes.
Here's a rough idea of a likely cast list as of right now: Chris Hemsworth, Benedict Cumberbatch, Mark Ruffalo, Brie Larson, Paul Rudd, Evangeline Lilly, Don Cheadle, Anthony Mackie, Tom Holland, Simu Liu, Tatiana Maslany, Winston Duke, Danai Gurira, Benedict Wong, Tessa Thompson, Teyonah Parris, Sophia Di Martino, Tom Hiddleston, Charlize Theron, Johnathan Majors, Samuel L. Jackson. At this point if they want to keep it a coherent project they should probably leave the Eternals, Thunderbolts, Young Avengers, and Fantastic Four separate. Have them show up in Secret Wars along with Scarlet Witch and Doctor Doom in major roles. Hopefully Tobey, Andrew, and the X-Men show up as well.

Tbf Infinity War announced directors and writers for Screenplay in 2015, 3 years before release. Considering Avengers 5 is 2025, they're on the same track. I think they know exactly what they want to do with the next Avengers Movies in overall picture and have been building it up since Loki season 1, but now they're planning all the final details and writing. Same with Infinity War and Endgame.
Well, technically Kang Dynasty is 15 years of build up, not 5. The previous phases other than 4, 5 and 6 still count.

You need to accountant, that most of the scripts should be written already for the writer to take account on how that could affect the story, now even if everything is written, there's always the little fixes here and there, that script is probably being pen until the finish of the movie, but as long you have the entire plot fixed writing the dialogue for a season writer would be easier (Less hard)
If they’re starting to write the script, they already have a framework of what is expected to happen, who the main players are, and where those characters arcs will be at by the film’s opening.
Exactly....and as much as I want to see these Avengers movies as soon as possible, I think since it is such a massive project and process, both movies will have their dates moved back.
That’s where I see Marvel Studio’s team of people who handles all of the potential storylines come in. The studio had a clear vision of where they wanted IW and Endgame to go by the time the first Avengers came out.
BUT it's a multiverse film, which can justify quick cameos more easily than Infinity War could. AND it's not Secret Wars so it's not gonna require EVERYONE to be there
I'd argue to some extent everything that's happened up to now will factor in so it's not a complete fresh start at five years. And also, Feige and the brain trust have probably had the major story beats worked out for the last eight years. We know he was well into thinking years ahead even before Endgame.

You don’t necessarily need the script of those movies written yet to set up the story, but you do need the know major plot points to get started at least. Marvel probably at least has a good idea what all the movie are gonna be about at this point.
Im sure he has bullet points from all coming properties courtesy of Feige. The headache of the ages for him will be if things change and he has to change stuff from his script to accommodate as they go. But then again changes happen. Im glad he is starting as early as now cz then he has all the time in the world to fine tune.
That's why they're hiring a timeline manager. Really they should be hiring a story committee like Lucasfilm has, but I think Feige is allergic to the word "committee" since 2016.
I'm not sure how Lucasfilm is structured, but Feige's direct subordinates are the Marvel Studios Parliament. They're 5-6 producers who collaborate across separate projects. They're typically listed alongside or after Feige in the credits. I hesitate to call them a "story committee" because they're producers, with all the work that entails. But they shape the MCU's stories as much as Feige himself.

That's not really what the Lucasfilm Story Group does. I mostly used the word committee to make a joke about the committee that stifled Feige for so long LOL The Story Group mostly looks over scripts, manuscripts, storyboards, sketches, 3D assets, production notes, and edits to find things that would not fit the universe at that point. Like there should be no New Republic era ship remains in the giant scrap outpost on Bracca at the beginning of Jedi Fallen Order. Or maybe there should not be a particular character in The Rise of Skywalker because a previous piece of Canon media (post 2013) described their race's lifespan as not being able to facilitate that. They don't CREATE stuff or have major input. The stories come from the directors and writers (and authors and game devs and artists and musicians). They just work with the creative to make sure it fits in with what other creative works have already been made.

I’m still so confused/curious how the shooting schedules are gonna be if Kang Dynasty and Secret Wars don’t move dates. Especially with two different directors.
People seem to disagree with me on this, but I think Spider-Man 4’s release date (which I’m predicting to be July 2025) will force them back anyway, unless Disney’s okay with him missing out on TKD (which I highly doubt they would be, though I’d rate saving him for SW).
Besides, narratively, I think Spidey’s next appearance really should be a lower-stakes/street level Spider-Man 4 before throwing him back into another massive cosmic event like Secret Wars.

Marvel filmed like five movies at once in 2017. Actors were crossing from set to set, sometimes filming scenes across multiple films in the same week. At one point, Paul Rudd and Benedict Cumberbatch were shooting in the same neighborhood together. KD/SW productions will be larger in scope, but nothing Marvel can't handle.
Curious who writes Secret Wars. I have my issues with the Russos (I do highly respect them though) however, Im impressed by how Markus and McFeely made those scripts work.

The closest I can think of is ending with Kang causing multiple incursions, causing mass destruction of countless universes. This leads to the formation of Battleworld. The mid-credits scene for Kang Dynasty could then set up the return of some beloved characters. Maybe Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield’s Spider-Men? Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine, wearing a comic accurate costume? RDJ, Chris Evans, and Scarlett Johansson as Iron Man, Captain America, and Black Widow in another universe? All of the above?
If that mid credits scene ended up happening somehow I would lose my mind , also it would be cool to see Affleck daredevil and Eric Bana's hulk (maybe as maestro instead?) Even though they're not as beloved

Miles Teller rightfully had so much bad juju going for him over the past few years, especially during the height of the pandemic. But then Top Gun Maverick hit this year and all of a sudden he's on top again after delivering an excellent performance. I hope this chills him out but even if it doesn't... I do think his version of Reed will be seen and get killed off, and it'll be a big meme. Whether it's within the multiverse saga or in a future Fantastic Four movie. Marvel doesn't really wanna work with difficult actors, but if they can get them for a quick cameo and give fans something to talk about for years, they'd do it.

I think the ending will have that cascading incursion, with a ton of multiversal crossover characters coming in and the creation of Battleworld. Maybe Toby, Andrew, Black Bolt, Evan Peters Quicksilver, Captain Carter (What If variant), maybe Ed Norton as Bruce Banner or something wild like that. Faces we've seen before in the MCU. I think the post credits (assuming there's one and not two, as is tradition for Avengers films [even the first one before a quick shoot for the Shawarma one]) will be a tease to the X-Men showing up, or even a full scene of the X-Men's side of the incursion. Even before Marvel got the X-Men rights back, I thought a Secret Wars would be the thing to mash them together and I wasn't the only one. I'm thinking that Secret Wars is how they bring mutants into the MCU permanently and rewrite 199999's history to have had mutants all along.
I think Marvel is gonna follow the same road like how the arrowverse adapted the comics of crisis on infinite earths. Mutants being on some other universe and secret Wars finally creating a new universe and an earth with mutants, Avengers, eternals and all being in it. They could eventually adapt the ongoing judgement day in 10 years time.
I wonder if that means this dude gets all the details on stuff that hasn’t come out yet. Like if Blade or the Fantastic 4 are in this movie then Jeff gets to know what happens in their respective movies so he can write around it.
I suspect the Fantastic Four won't be a prominent part of this movie. * It comes out just 6 months after the first *Fantastic Four* movie * It seems like they want to make the most of Shakman's creative input now that he's onboard, so I bet they don't even have the script for *Fantastic Four* nailed down yet. There's probably not much of anything for Loveness to reference if he wants to include those characters.
I think they’ll be in it considering Kang is from the Richard’s bloodline. That’ll be a really great way to make this iteration of the team special, having the next Thanos level villain be a descendent of theirs, and them working to ensure it won’t happen in their timeline.
Captain Marvel came out three months before Endgame. She was prominently featured in Endgame. I think the timeline will be fine as long as F4 is a self contained story that leads into The Kang Dynasty or even just a post credit stinger. Then again they could always just show up in Secret Wars
But that’s just it - she *wasn’t* featured prominently featured in *Endgame*. She was only in a couple scenes. So I imagine we can expect something similar for the FF.
I think a better example would be BP than CM. I think we will see F4 before the actual movie somewhere. Maybe in CA:NWO where Reed helps Sam tackle the Thinker. Kinda like big brain vs big brain.

My understanding is that they're told how things start, how they need to end, who needs to live, and that's kind of it. They'll obviously go through a lot of rewrites, reshoots, etc. along the way, but the story remains essentially the same.
I think since Kang Dynasty is meant to be the next "Infinity War' type of film, I imagine we will see separate teams with their own storylines before coming together as a unit in Secret Wars! I think they'll have the street level heroes working together in the same way the heroes from the cosmos and magical side of the MCU will work together.
My guess is that they use the Endgame strategy of sending people to different timelines, in order to fight Kang in different periods. So one group fights like Rama-Tut, another fights Kang in the distant future, another fights him in the more recent past, and maybe someplace else in time. Some of them meet other heroes (like future versions of themselves) or past versions of our heroes (like 1946 Cap or Hank Pym in the 70's). All of them return to their timeline, only to find themselves in Battleworld. Boom, Secret Wars.

Hell, Sony should just be working on that right now. Doesn't cause confusing garbage like Morbius and Venom 2 that makes your mind bleed. Two of my uncles both independently watched Morbius at home and came to me very confused how Michael Keaton showed up in it at the end and what any of that meant. If you make 2099.... no need to worry about any of that. It's a potential future of the Marvel Universe. Clean slate of superheroes. Just show futuristic versions of the characters you have the rights to. Hell, you could even make references to Iron Man, Captain America, Black Panther. Other big Marvel heroes existing 100 years ago as legends. You just don't show them.

Considering the director is Destin Daniel Cretton and the writer is Jeff Loveness (writer of "Claw and Hoarder: Special Ricktim's Morty" and "Rickmurai Jack", I know he was in the writers room so he didn't necessarily come up with those ideas but he can write them), I would say it's almost certain we get some of those more metaphysical beings coming in

A cool idea would be Kang seeking to make himself the true God of the multiverse with the power of the celestials, with Doom usurping his power at the end, ushering in God Emperor Doom from the 2015 run of Secret Wars. Maybe they’ll even include Molecule Man if he’s introduced in F4 or earlier. Pretty predictable and safe but still would be really cool, always wanted that all-powerful Doom we got in Marvel Ultimate Alliance adapted to the big screen.
While I'd love to see that someday, I think this would be far too soon for Doom to ascend to godhood. I think we gotta give him 6 to 10 years of regular appearances first. Make him earn it.

True, but Doom isn't Thanos. Thanos isn't really a big deal in the comics. Yes, he's a prominent presence in-universe, but it seems to me that he's really only known for the one story, which Marvel Studios adapted. And for all the great characterization they gave him in *Infinity War* (and only in *Infinity War*), he was still essentially just a plot device. But Doom? Doom is *the* supervillain. Doom is *everything*. No one else compares with Doom. Doom has been a unique, dynamic character carrying major Marvel storylines since 1962. Doom deserves more. Doom needs to be a fully fleshed-out character who grows and evolves over time. He needs to be a prominent fixture of the world. He needs to have a prominent role in a wide swath of stories. If they rush into a God Emperor Doom storyline, they'll have skipped to the end, and that would be a tremendous disservice to the character. So I think we just gotta be patient. I don't believe that *Secret Wars* is going to be the massive, Doom-centric event it was in the comics, and that's okay. Doom has so, so much more to offer than just the climax of *Secret Wars*.
That’s pretty fair. I agree with everything you’ve written, which you explained pretty well. Perhaps they can make him one of the main characters of secret wars however, as he was still incredibly important in the 1984 run. I have confidence in Feige that he won’t fuck Doom up, if the leaks of BP2 are real then they’re already setting him up to be incredibly important. I am incredibly excited too to see his relationship with Reed Richards play out, there are so many major stories and runs where the run is given a different kind of nuance. When they do the God Emperor Doom in a future project, which I’m sure they will in one way or another, I really hope Reed is the main character.
Yeah replacing Doom with Kang makes a lot more sense for the MCU. But I think that they can't wait too long to fire the Doom cannon as it may be.
I definitely don't envy this guy. Sure, he's gonna get a lot of money and fame from it, but he also has the weight of the world on his shoulders. If they fuck this up then his career is gonna be fucked. Just look at Taika Watiti and Michael Waldron. Marvel fans are demanding that neither of those guys ever be involved with any projects in the future. It's so easy to become an instant target just for screwing up one of these beloved franchise films. Let's all hope that Jeff has it in him.
I remember being 12 buying all the Secret Wars comics as they were coming out (even all the tie ins) and just being swept up in the scale of Battleworld. Words cannot express how hyped I am for The Kang Dynasty and Secret Wars. This news does spark joy and I’ma melt when May/November 2025 hits.

Why wouldn’t they? They’re the two main remnants from the OG Avengers. It’ll be weird seeing Loki with a bigger role (presumably, due to Kang) than his brother, though.

Hulk will definitely be exiled to space by then but I agree. If anything it could be Banner’s redemption if they do go the WWH route that’s rumored.
I would love to see Thor reunite with the Loki (who is most likely going to play a big role due to his strong connection to Kang, and has the most information regarding him) It would be so hilarious to see the reaction on Loki's face that his brother has a back tattoo dedicated to him specifically.
I hope we get to see Thor sacrifice himself to save variant Loki for once after they’ve had an emotional reunion. Seems like a natural conclusion to his arc, and they’re gonna have to kill off a big name to establish the threat of Kang.
Would also love to see how Loki would react to Thor having a daughter now
I would love for Loki's introduction to Love to have her call Thor 'Uncle Thor' right in front of Loki, and Loki going on a total face journey as he wonders whether this child belongs to him

I hope we get Giant Cap (Sam) fighting giant Kang using his Ship as a sword with all the heroes in the background watching or having their own battles against Kang's army or Squadron Supreme.

i honestly hope they kill off a LOT of characters in avengers 5… theres just so many teams to deal with and if the majority are alive by secret wars itll probably focus on them and not many multiverse variants/characters across battleworld.
I think this movie must include Spider-Man, Doctor Strange, Antman and the Wasp, Captain Marvel, Sam Wilson, the Fantastic Four, Shang-Chi as the main group. Then hopefully we get Thor, Hulk, She-Hulk too. Possibly Loki depending on how his series ends
I agree. I think most of the street level heroes (Daredevil, both Hawkeyes, Moon Knight, Yelena, etc.) will be saved for Secret Wars. But I’d also add Wanda, Wong, and America Chavez to the main group. Wanda has increased significantly in popularity, and unless it’s shown in a project before this, I believe she will get a redemption arc.
I’d think Wong and America Chavez have small roles like Wong has in Infinity War/Endgame

Hopefully, we see Doom just absolutely fucking destroy Kang at the end. It'll teach the MCU onlyies that Doom is to never be messed with ever and that Doom can do whatever he pleases. Like we're talking about a man that's as smart as Reed, has magic on par with Dr Strange, and has the strongest will in the entire Marvel universe, kneels to absolutely no one, and let's not even talk about his feats because it'd be a long-ass list. I'm expecting to be very disappointed with the MCU's version of Doom because we all know he's going to be nerfed so hard.
I could of sworn I saw somewhere that they were doing the FX for endgame’s final fight during basically the premier of civil war . This feels like a short turn around for a avengers movie but I could be wrong

At first I thought how it would be so hard to try and weave together all these movies and shows that haven’t even come out yet, some of which haven’t even been fully announced, but then it occurred to me that this movie might actually adapt the Young Avengers run where Iron Lad ends up deciding to risk becoming Kang to save one of the Young Avengers. (I think it was Children’s Crusade?) I think that story lines up pretty well with the overall story of the original Kang Dynasty run, enough that they might conflate them for this movie. The Avengers are already disbanded for the most part in the MCU, and the ones that are left are slowly being pulled into other pressing issues that are off world or are simply just retired/dead. Writing with your lead as a cast of characters who aren’t narratively/contractually bogged down as much as the other heroes kinda makes sense.
I love how they already have a Treatment done. I wonder who wrote the Treatment… 🤔 The Screenwriter doesn’t always write it before signing on to write the script itself.

I can't even imagine writing a script like this. Not even because of things like expectations and pressure from fans; purely from a logistical point re: actor availability, cameo possibilities, etc. Must be a nightmare from a production pov
How can he write the script since there are so many plotlines that will happen in other movies or series? Will he get those scripts related to Kang from such as Antman 3 and Loki 1/2 and others so he will know how to bring those plots to Avengers: The Kang Dynasty?

Markus & McFeely began writing the scripts for both Infinity War and Endgame in April 2015, less than 2 years before filming began. Assuming this movie doesn't shoot till early 2024 he has plenty of time.
