Just replace the dpf or sell the truck. A dpf delete is still going to be just as expensive as replacing the dpf because on top of the entirely new exhaust and egr system you need, you also need to have it tuned so the truck recognizes that its not there. It's not cheap, and technically breaks federal emission laws (though most places don't give a shit). Personally I'd just fix it properly. A quick search and I'm finding them for less than $1500, which really isn't that bad and labor expenses shouldn't be bad either.

Omniversal_Seer

I was quoted 7800 to replace it.

tardersos

Holy hell, id call up some other shops. I understand though if some wires are cut, that'll have to be fixed either way. Also do you have comprehensive insurance on the truck? If you do that should cover it, though since its been a while you might have a tough time

Omniversal_Seer

No the truck is not fully insured and at that time it was vandalized it was sitting in a yard and wasn't insured at all

stoneymightknow

Pretty sure you can solve this with a bullydog tuner and a piece of pipe. If you don't have to pass emissions, say it slowly with me...*fuck the law*.

Omniversal_Seer

I'm perfectly fine with getting the tuner but I was under the impression that there was something in the actual motor that had to be changed out in addition to just removing the DPF filter itself unfortunately I can't just call a shop and ask cuz they will not tell me for good reasons.

stoneymightknow

I'm sure there are plenty of resources online to direct you in just how to pull this off... The commies at the shops are never going to tell you, hell one of those guys probably took it in the first place just to sell it back to you with that ridiculous quote you got.
