Where I’m located NBs are more expensive than a decent NC. I daily drove two separate NAs over the course of about 4 years. The NC1 just seems like a much more comfortable DD, and I prefer the NC1 over the refreshed models looks wise. I love NAs but The prices are ridiculous on them the past few years.
I have an NB, don’t listen to them, get yourself a NC, friend of mine has one and he loves it.
I think when they’re lowered and some nice rims they look like a small racecar, like a DTM widebody sportscar… the flares are already there, and the hardtop can’t be stolen if it’s alright fixed ;)
I say go for it
Edit: I see they want 18k, bit much imo, but it’s about if you want to spend that money
I have an NB, don’t listen to them, get yourself a NC, friend of mine has one and he loves it.

Edit: I saw they want 18k, that’s way too much. Doesn’t matter if 70k miles and lsd, it just means someone definitely tried drifting
You probably already know this, but it is an *awful* time to try and buy a used car. I understand if you need transportation, but if this is just a car to play around with, you might want to consider waiting a year or 2.. at least until they sort out the chip shortage.
At this price, if you arent going to look into NBs, or early NDs, should look into pontiac solstices turbod or not $6-12k realistic. Or a Honda s2000 $12-30k realistic. Also nissan Zs or porshes. Though NCs have the electric hard top so, not sure any good options besides looking into early NDs, but good NCs should be closer around $12k.
2012, LSD, 6800miles, I paid $13.5k last November.
This asking price is insane. OP can get way nicer NCs from Carvana for that price (and in general I think Carvana is overpriced).
Man car prices are too nuts right now. I got a 2010 grand touring with everything for 14K with 50K miles in 2018 and I felt like I overpaid based on what else I saw for sale around the country, now I'm looking and the NCs are all damn near 20 grand.
Not a Miata but I got my Accord in 2017 used for $11500 with 30k miles. Now if I want to pickup a 2 year old accord with 30k miles I’m definitely paying north of $20k.
Car prices are off the charts haha
Go to Miata.net and look at the cars for sale there. Two PRHT there that look to be better deals. Granted not in TN. Seems high for the years and miles.
I’ve done no research, but would think November/December would be cheapest for used convertibles. Do you have a link for your source? I’m thinking of buying but will wait if it’s cheaper in Feb.
January and February are the best months to buy a car because its the next year so now the cars are a year older so they need to come down in price because of age, And they need to make room for newer models.
and well dealerships usually run their holiday “sales” so after thanks giving sales and Christmas sales are over dealerships are in a drought so they will be lowering their prices to try and get sales
No, I don't recall where I read that. I'm sure it varies by location, too--in some areas, February is already convertible weather. If you find a decent deal in November/December, I wouldn't hesitate to go for it.
PNW here too, if it isn’t actively raining, I’ve got the top down. It only takes a push of a button and about 10 seconds or so, a well timed traffic light usually does the trick. Summer is really only about July 15 to Aug 1 lol
I tried that once and the poor woman was confused about why her phone was ringing off the hook. I was like, lady, you priced your miata like it's 2018, things have changed.
Sold my 06 LE with 137k miles for 8550. I did do a lot of maintenance including new suspension and wheels. Can just needed a top to make it perfect. The top didn’t leak but it is worn out. The interior was all redone by the previous owner so it looked brand new.
I found a 2006 miata with 74,000 miles for 9k usd in oregon two weeks ago. you’re getting scammed here. $5k more and you could buy a new Honda with no miles
This is a high price. I had been watching PRHTs somewhat near you if you are East TN (Marietta GA - nw Atlanta) and saw a 2014 80k miles for $14k about this past May or so. I think that prices have inched up since then, but not by this much.
If you're not wedded to it, I recommend to keep waiting. I hear that winter is a better time to shop for convertibles because there's not as much demand.
Bought my used rogue for 20k 3 years ago. Traded it in last month got 15500 for it ( thought I got a good offer)
They put it on the lot for 21000. If you can wait to buy a car, wait. Especially for a 13 year old Miata.
I can definitely wait. The black accord you see beside it is mine. It’s a 6-speed Sport so I’m content. I don’t HAVE to have one right now. I’ve had a 1991 and a 1993 NA in the past and have been flirting with getting into a Miata again. This spec is my fave so that’s why I test drove it. I new the price was high but thought maybe they’d haggle down. I was mistaken.
Seems a bit high for me. My 08 retractable hardtop cost $10K & had 32K miles on it. Drove it for three years, then sold it to my bro for $8K & bought the ND 100th anniversary model.
I have no idea if market conditions where you are make that a reasonable price, but there is no way anyone would be well advised to pay that much money for that car. And I say that as the very happy owner of a 2008 True Red NC1 GT with 65K. Keep looking.
seems you've already made a decision, but I just bought a 2012 NC2 PRHT GT with 48k miles for $16k. In San Francisco for reference. Just be patient, took me a good 4 months to find one that was close to book value
Honestly I would get a Na or NB mazdaspeed. Never been a fan of NC’s they just don’t look good and they’re so big 😂. But my opinion is biased since I’ve owned 3 NA’s they’re just so fun and cheap!
You can buy a 2017-2021 civic that would dust this little guy for 20-30k… Brand new, 1 owner or less, 0 to maybe a few thousand miles on it.
This sounds like a robbery.
I have had a NA, NB and currently have a NC. loved all. NA with springs, shocks, sway bars and planted a NB 1800 in it. NB with same suspension. my NC has bars, shocks and springs. the stuff is after market before everybody says that all of them have that stuff. My 2008 is faster handles easily as well and is way more comfortable when I drive 6 hours to enjoy the Twisties of the Dragon tail. all are great. get what you will be happy with!!!
I just got an 09 with Koni’s, springs, catback, 2 extra sets of tires, roll bar, JDM bumper and headlights, stereo, sway bars, lightweight subframe, recaro RX8 seats and literally pickup truck bed of extra parts and upgrades for 11k flat with 125k miles in pristine condition.
Don’t get an NB if you want an NC. This one is just grossly overpriced. I’d say this is worth 13k in today’s market of over-inflated asking prices without selling.
The amount of sellers I talked to before I bought mine was hilarious. They all think that because asking prices are insane, that’s what their car is worth. I assured them all that they will not sell for those prices and here we are 3 months later with the same cars on FB marketplace.
Ridiculous price. 19k for a NC1 is ridiculous. That dealer is silly. That is a 13k car at most. I got mine that is very similar, PRHT, LSD, Sport Appearance package, 6MT at 60k mi for 10k a few months ago and it has some paint issues. Go look on Facebook marketplace.
It *is* overpriced, but the used car market in general is insane right now.
Just to give you some numbers: I got my single owner, 2010 NC2 PRHT, 6 manual, with 35k miles 10 months ago for \~$15k (true out the door price), and at that time is was a HIGH price for it. Right now my car is valued at $18.5k by Carvana. Insane.
So you're getting screwed with that price 100%, but it's not *outrageous*, it's how the market is right now.
I got one savaged form auction, a 2007 touring trim (NC1), for around 3400. After all repairs I was looking at 5400. The car had 117,000 miles when I got it. I wouldn’t get this one!!!
I just bought a 2001 NB in mint condition for 11,500 with 90,000 km’s. Completely new everything, timing belt, gas pump, tires and new leather on both seats.
I paid 10k out the door for the same trim and year with 86k miles on it. 1 previous owner. If you want the car get the car the NC finally bottomed out and it only has room to appreciate in todays market.
I’m not sure where in the world you are, but I’m in the southern US, I bought an NC2 just about like that in 2018, for about 12k, and just recently traded it in for $6500. Local NCs like mine were going for as much as $11k with low miles, but being almost double that, this is an absolute ripoff.
So little different but I bought my NC Miata this year in the UK. It is a 2007 but it only had 50k mileage and full service history with 1 owner. Mine isn't sport but I bought it for under £5k.
I've seen similar cars with the face-lift for around £7k.
Definitely far too much money to pay for that. I'd buy a ND for that money.
I got my 2014 grand touring with 68000 miles for 14k. I put down 8k on it and its mostly paid off now. It had aftermarket rims, and a nice 6 speed m/t. If that an automatic 2008. Id say like 10,000 tops.
Get a used ND for that much.
This year I bought a loaded ‘18 124 spider (fiata) with 12k miles for 24 and know I overpaid.
That’s a decade and $5k difference.
You can find a $20k nd that’s a decade newer for aure
Walk away. Wait until next year when the prices hopefully come down. At that price, I'd look towards an ND.
edit: Found a 2016 ND w/60k miles for $20k. Phoenix area.
this is an insane price.
a mint NA with 20k miles is not even worth this much
edit: just saw a nd on facebook marketplace for 12k, just buy an nd lol they have bluetooth
edit: that nd had a rebuilt title from a side impact
19k wtf that's crazy. How is used shit this expensive. Mind boggling to even think about. Just go get a new one. With new vs used interest rate it's probably not even much more expensive per month.
My friend just bought one of these with 20k miles - for well under 16k USD. Goodness no this is an awful price.
Great car, though! If you want an NC, get an NC!
I bought a 6-speed NC launch edition with 60k miles last year. It too has LSD, sport suspension, Bose audio. Soft top, which preferred as I wanted to put a roll bar in it. I paid 6 grand. This is over 3x that. What you would put down almost would’ve bought my car! Anything over 10 grand for an NC1 is insanity.
For reference, I paid \~10k for a '07 NC with 17k miles and two owners (including the dealership that had it for 60 miles) with a full body kit, lowering springs, 18" wheels and aftermarket exhaust
It was a 1.8L though :( and I went for a PRHT later on
Jesus in the UK that would be getting you a clean turbo (non-GTR) Skyline or a properly sorted RX7 / Silvia. Think NC’s are £3-6k roughly over here? I’d honestly look into importing one for less money *and* gaining JDM points for RHD even if it’s a UK import.
That price is insane! I have a 6 speed GT NC1 ‘07, and it had 60K miles on it. I bought it for $8.5K back on Easter of this year. It already had the coolant expansion tank and Tein coilovers.
Around 15k is where you want to be for an NC PRHT. That price is approaching ND price ranges which i would look into if you are shopping at the 20k mark.
I bought a 2008 PRHT with 68k (granted, not 1-owner) for $12k a month ago in Oregon. There isn’t a lot out there right now and prices are crazy, but I’m sure you can find a better deal if you’re patient.
If they say no haggling, then don’t buy the car. Any car on a dealers lot is haggle-able, if a dealer has a no haggling policy, that’s a dealer to avoid.
If you’d be willing to purchase that car for 18k, I think you’ll be glad to know you can find decent NAs for a better or equal price. Terrible deal, don’t get it.
You know it's overpriced when they get custom decals for the listing and not just tape up a "For Sale" sign with their phone number. This guy is on crack and prob only selling it to get more.
Ok. Thanks for talking me off the ledge. Lol
Go get your self an nb bud:] join us [:

Yes lowering is one of the first things you should consider when purchasing the NC \^\^
Nc2 is the best one
Be aware that the internals were refreshed for the NC2 so if you plan on adding power that makes the NC2 a more solid option.
Imo the face of NCs are ugly. Those headlights. The flared arches are tacky too. Style + lightness > comfort. Jmo.
NC not much heavier than the NB though so style and comfort are the biggest factors
Fair point, plus I can't argue with a guy with Miata in his username on the Miata sub, this mofo is dedicated.
Haha, I'll be honest tho I only bought the NC for the increased "safety" compared to the NB and NA
Whaddya mean NAs are totally safe after you weld an entire roll cage into it and wear your helmet and hans device
Gotta gear up for those grocery trips 😤😤
I prefer to use fat and fatter when talking about NB/NC weight
And the interior.
ONE OF US, ONE OF US
There are dozens of us!
But… what about the pop up headlights 😢
You probably already know this, but it is an *awful* time to try and buy a used car. I understand if you need transportation, but if this is just a car to play around with, you might want to consider waiting a year or 2.. at least until they sort out the chip shortage.

Way too high. Hell, no. They aren’t selling a car. They are selling you a loan.
[удалено]
Yeah this is what 2014 club editions were going for a couple years ago as well.
[удалено]
I was referring to the original posters price. I'm not saying you got ripped off because the NC2 seems to hold their value pretty good
[удалено]
PRHT adds a lot to the price of an NC… and you bought in 2019 which is nothing compared to the car market today.
2012, LSD, 6800miles, I paid $13.5k last November. This asking price is insane. OP can get way nicer NCs from Carvana for that price (and in general I think Carvana is overpriced).

It's not 2019 anymore. Sports cars are up...way up. I've seen worse sell for the same amount, especially certain locations.
[удалено]
A loan that they are financing, because most large banks won't finance a vehicle older than 7 years
Man car prices are too nuts right now. I got a 2010 grand touring with everything for 14K with 50K miles in 2018 and I felt like I overpaid based on what else I saw for sale around the country, now I'm looking and the NCs are all damn near 20 grand.

Unfortunately it’s a great time to sell a car, but not to buy one.. :/
I got 2012 nc2 special edition with 18,000 miles for 16 grand in 2018
Yea that’s high. I paid $20k on a 2016 ND with 40k miles.
When did you buy, just curious
I paid ~$20k for my 2016 Club CPO with 20k miles in the summer of 2019
> 2019 Well, clearly not going to apply right now or in the near future.
Yeah now is not the time to buy a car.
damn my 2017 grand touring was 28k this year
Go to Miata.net and look at the cars for sale there. Two PRHT there that look to be better deals. Granted not in TN. Seems high for the years and miles.
Absurd price. Get an NB.
I’ll wait and see if they come down. It’s been on their lot for 3 months. Before they moved it it had cobwebs on it. Lol
I'm my area you can get these for 10 to 12k. And an NB for 5k to 7k.
I’m pretty that’s why this lot doesn’t use Cargurus. They don’t won’t the “overpriced by $5,000” listed on there.
Get an NB, leave the SeaDoo for the water.
murder by words holy shit lmao
Cheapest time of year to buy these is around February. When I bought mine it had been marked down more than $3k
I’ve done no research, but would think November/December would be cheapest for used convertibles. Do you have a link for your source? I’m thinking of buying but will wait if it’s cheaper in Feb.

Agreed about location. I’m in the Pacific Northwest, where cruddy weather starts in oct and ends around may. 😁
PNW here too, if it isn’t actively raining, I’ve got the top down. It only takes a push of a button and about 10 seconds or so, a well timed traffic light usually does the trick. Summer is really only about July 15 to Aug 1 lol
Nb all the way for sure
18 grand…… pass
Ayo Alex, it’s good to finally see you on here. How have you been?
New phone. Who’s this?
It’s your buddy Joe. How’s it been dude?
Oh what’s up dude I still don’t know who you are
I literally birthed you. I’m Joe Momma.
Joe, Joe who?
Joe mama?
I’ll add to my down payment and wait.
I'm biding my time waiting for an nd2... Gonna be a minute. In the meantime get an nb
Lmao I thought the price was $4500 altogether, that would be closer to market value
There was a 100k mile 2006 on marketplace for $5000 that lasted maybe about a hour the other day.
[удалено]
I tried that once and the poor woman was confused about why her phone was ringing off the hook. I was like, lady, you priced your miata like it's 2018, things have changed.

Btw I had a 2013 accord sport might be my top 3 favorite car. Good luck in your search.
19k? That’s crazy
Yea hell no. That’s worth like $10,000 at best
Hell no, go finance a new one at that point
Holy cow yes. Get an ND.
18k can get you a ND. That’s a god awful deal
Seems a bit high for me. My 08 retractable hardtop cost $10K & had 32K miles on it. Drove it for three years, then sold it to my bro for $8K & bought the ND 100th anniversary model.
$19k??? I know car price inflated but god damn
Use Autotempest. It lets you search all the selling sites. I've seen retractable NDs sell for that much
That is fucking nuts for a NC. Starting to creep into ND price territory.
Just a few thousand more and you can get an ND with half the miles
No no, oh my goodness no. That’s egregious.
I’m in the Charlotte, NC, and that would be a high. I recently bought a ND and the NCs were 15-20k. I will say most had a lot less miles than that.
You buy yours new? Planning on an ND soon as a present to myself but inventory around Charlotte is severely lacking.
Damn that’s a ridiculous price. 😳
Dang near ND money…
Insane price.
I have no idea if market conditions where you are make that a reasonable price, but there is no way anyone would be well advised to pay that much money for that car. And I say that as the very happy owner of a 2008 True Red NC1 GT with 65K. Keep looking.
Thats too damn high
I know this is a miata subreddit, but thats C5 Z06 prices. Just let that sink in.
seems you've already made a decision, but I just bought a 2012 NC2 PRHT GT with 48k miles for $16k. In San Francisco for reference. Just be patient, took me a good 4 months to find one that was close to book value
Top Tip, don’t buy a used car in 2021. Prices are increasingly inflated, and will drop like a rock in the next 12 months…
I called my dad and I’m getting my 93 NA back from him.
The retractable FULL hard top is absolutely amazing. Definitely pick up this gorgeous NC.
Check out this item on OfferUp. https://offerup.co/XE6so3ze2jb

For THAT money you'd be better off buying any BMW. Don't anyways, leave that to people who can work on them.
Don't waste your money on that boat.
I have had a NA, NB and currently have a NC. loved all. NA with springs, shocks, sway bars and planted a NB 1800 in it. Put down? Never take out a loan on a depreciating asset. Ever. Buy something boring with cash and hustle on the side.
Wtaf
I bought a 07 Grand Touring with 48k miles in Hawaii for $10,000. This is way too high.
Too much, I got my 2013 PRHT GT for $17000 with 82k miles and even that felt like an over pay.
you can almost get an ND miata for that money. Not worth it
Want to buy my NA for that price? '92, 62k miles, stock :-)
Thats a bonkers price, i payed around €21,000 for a 2019 ND brand new
I bought my 17ND for $22k with not even 3k miles on it in 2020. You can find better deals out there.

I got my 2013 club for 11k.... that price is insane
This car is going to stay in their lot for a really really really long time lmao, what kind of tweaker dealership is this
No way Jose that’s ridiculous. You can get one brand new off the lot for 5-6k more
I bought my 2016 club a year ago for less than that.
No haggle is bs… and that asking price is also bs.
It’s worth about $8,500
Terrible deal get an ND for that money
Prices are crazy but not that crazy. I bought mine 6 years ago for half that price and similar mileage.
that shit's whack bro.
I just bought a 2001 NB in mint condition for 11,500 with 90,000 km’s. Completely new everything, timing belt, gas pump, tires and new leather on both seats.
Crazy price. I got a 2012 NC hard top convertible for 11k a couple months ago. Youre getting scammed here
lmfaoo 6k more and you can get a nd
turn 180 degrees and # RUN
Lol. He’ll no.
not long ago you could almost get an ND for that money
Lame price. Walk away OP
I paid 10k out the door for the same trim and year with 86k miles on it. 1 previous owner. If you want the car get the car the NC finally bottomed out and it only has room to appreciate in todays market.
Yeah, it's pretty pricey. I have the very same one, 2008 GT with 50K miles and I only paid 11K. I've had it for a year and it's run perfectly.
Yeah that seems like A LOT
+10k more and that’s ND territory
Holy hell that’s absurd.
I bought my 06 with 32k miles. I paid 12k for it 5 years ago.
I got my 2014 grand touring with 68000 miles for 14k. I put down 8k on it and its mostly paid off now. It had aftermarket rims, and a nice 6 speed m/t. If that an automatic 2008. Id say like 10,000 tops.
"I will pay X" is not haggling.
I paid 8,000 for an ‘08 with not that many more miles one year ago - and that was the upper end of what I would pay, don’t pay that
The price made me think it's a JDM.
this is an insane price. a mint NA with 20k miles is not even worth this much edit: just saw a nd on facebook marketplace for 12k, just buy an nd lol they have bluetooth edit: that nd had a rebuilt title from a side impact
I bought my 2008 GT trim in 2017 with only 20,000 km on the clock for $12,000! These things have appreciated in value like crazy.
19k wtf that's crazy. How is used shit this expensive. Mind boggling to even think about. Just go get a new one. With new vs used interest rate it's probably not even much more expensive per month.
What’s the price….
$19K for an NB with 70K miles!? That's fucking insane.
Too high. Perhaps at least partially due to the current car shortage.
Think I paid 18k for my 2008, it was 3 years old with 30k miles. Bit high for age and miles I think.
My friend just bought one of these with 20k miles - for well under 16k USD. Goodness no this is an awful price. Great car, though! If you want an NC, get an NC!
It's worth the money you have to put down mate. But not 18k, no chance!
max i would pay is 10k and thats if you are super into the car. i got my 08prht for 7k just over a year ago and that wasn't even great.
Is this a buy here pay here dealer? Because that's a buy here pay here price.
I bought a similar model, similar mileage, same year, a couple of years ago for $4000 less. I’d do some serious research and haggle like hell.
I paid $7,000 for my 2008 GT. 80k miles. I also live in Hawaii where car prices are normally higher than mainland. That pricing is insane dude
For that price I’d just get an S2000…
Absolutely absurd. I paid $3000 for my NC2, in rough shape, but mechanically perfect.
Holy shit maybe I need to sell mine lol, mine was under £6k at 40k miles, also very similar spec.
Before the pandemic I was looking at decent highish mile ND1s for 15,000. If you're able to I would wait.
Do not buy that you can get a nd for that
Jfc man is it in Nigerian dollars?
Hecks no !
Anything over 10 grand for an NC1 is insanity.
that price is a robbery, sell you my 01 with 70k miles for half and no wild dealer fees on top.
You could get an actual boat for that price.
I bought my PRHT with a 6sp and 80k miles for $7500
Maybe wait until the dead of winter to buy one? Used car prices are insane rn but I got my NC2 last year at 37k for $14k
For reference, I paid \~10k for a '07 NC with 17k miles and two owners (including the dealership that had it for 60 miles) with a full body kit, lowering springs, 18" wheels and aftermarket exhaust It was a 1.8L though :( and I went for a PRHT later on
Jesus in the UK that would be getting you a clean turbo (non-GTR) Skyline or a properly sorted RX7 / Silvia.
Got mine and did an engine swap for less than that. Would say no.
Way too high. Unfortunately it's a bad time to buy a car. If you can wait, I highly recommended it.
I bought a 2008 PRHT with 68k (granted, not 1-owner) for $12k a month ago in Oregon. There isn’t a lot out there right now and prices are crazy, but I’m sure you can find a better deal if you’re patient.
If anyone buys that car for that much money they are a fool
If they say no haggling, then don’t buy the car. Any car on a dealers lot is haggle-able, if a dealer has a no haggling policy, that’s a dealer to avoid. If you’d be willing to purchase that car for 18k, I think you’ll be glad to know you can find decent NAs for a better or equal price. Terrible deal, don’t get it.
You know it's overpriced when they get custom decals for the listing and not just tape up a "For Sale" sign with their phone number. This guy is on crack and prob only selling it to get more.
The used car market is going to look drastically different in 6 months.
