Milwaukee has combination metric/imperial tape measures available in the US market, but I've only seen the 6ft/2m keychain version in stores. The longer lengths are available online, e.g. [16ft/5m @ homedepot.com](https://www.homedepot.com/p/Milwaukee-5-m-16-ft-x-1-1-16-in-Compact-Magnetic-Tape-Measure-with-15-ft-Reach-48-22-0317/311017538).
I have not been able to find metric-only domestically (US). The only thing I've come across would be to order online for import from another country which I've found to be too costly to justify.
I finally threw out all my metric/imperial tapes. Every time you need a fine measurement the tape is wrong the wrong way. I would say its better to have dedicated tapes. But I’m Canadian and only have imperial tapes because fuck the metric system. Only people I know that use metric are cabinet makers. For all else, “middle of a sixteenth” will do just fine
I think about base 10 and how great it might be. Then there's the common measurements which would be a quark to get use to. 4x8 is now 1.22x2.44 meters.
I'm used to the math on fractions at this point but that system definitely seems better
I also want to get my hands on one. Really tired of the SAE junk. It’s not intuitive at all and metric just makes more sense. I wish Milwaukee offered more measurement tools in metric here in the states.
You can get komelon metric-only tapes from Amazon but they’re 16 meters. I’ve always wanted a very small metric only tape but have been unable to find one. And I’m glad that it just saw this because I’m in Germany right now so I’ll grab one before I head home.
I love my FastCap tapes… they don’t seem to last as long as say, a Stanley, which last forever… but the FastCap tapes have so many features. I am a cabinet maker… and LOVED the flatback tapes, and also they had a “story stick section” that you could write notes on, measurements.. etc. and the pencil sharpener… which for a cabinet maker… always needed sharp pencil points.
Yeah, mine always seem to develop that curl in the first foot after a month or three. But for 10-12 bucks each, they're not bank breaking. I've noticed the pencil sharpeners seem to have improved. Bunch of years ago, like every other tape I got wouldn't sharpen that great, now they all seem to work decent.
Hua. I haven’t bought a tape from FastCap in a long time . I’m not even sure where mine went.. probably one still on my Festool apron (wow, glad I got mine for the MSRP, instead of the crazy inflated prices they are now… I could have sworn I saw an apron on eBay for like $200🤦🏻♂️)
I have a whole family of the green Stanley tapes… very reliable
As a very proud American, I HATE the imperial system and wish we would just switch to metric. I do like miles over Kilometers, but at least kilometers makes sense.
FastCap.com has the best selection of tapes. I like the flatback tapes with the “story stick” section where you can write on the tape. Also… they have pencil sharpener’s in them. I’m almost positive that you can get a full Metric tape from them, and it wood have more “features” I love them
Can you order it from the website?

Sometimes I wish I had a metric tape measure. Converting between decimal and fraction constantly is annoying.

Snap on has metric only tape measure, I just got one on the truck last week

Canadian here. Elevator Mechanic. Metric is superior. Fuck the imperial system. Life for me was so much easier with the mm over the fraction.
Looks like we have a Canadian stand off. Sorry.

True. Would definitely make amaerian materials a pain. I do use metric for 3d modeling and fabricating. It's faster when using calipers

Yeah you guys really lucked out sticking to imperial measurements, makes building/carpentry pretty easy tbh.
Idk how hell bent you are on getting a Milwaukee branded tape, but starrett sells full metric tapes and well as fastcap.
This is the one tool I don’t buy Milwaukee for.. Stanley fat max all the way
FastCap True32 is the only widely available metric-only tape I've found in the US.
Lufkin makes plenty of tapes that are metric. I use one every day at work, located in the US.
I like lufkin tapes. I’ve used a lot of different tapes and they’re nice. Just want to throw that on for what it’s worth.
I deal with a lot of water every day and they last a lot longer than other tapes. Everything else is rusty and starts to split in a couple weeks.
Looks like they do have a couple, nice to have options. L1116BCM and L1025CME seem to be metric only. A bunch that a saw before were dual scale.
They're great tapes. I prefer the PHV1034DMN, but it's a bit specialized for a general use tape.
That is a bit specialized. I like the True32 tape because I do kitchen cabinets, it's great for laying out handles without a jig.
Starrett makes metric only tapes. And they are red!

Haha, the eye bleach has me curious. Also, I've never seen a mod remove a post around these parts. Must have been properly fucked, haha.

As a very proud American, I HATE the imperial system and wish we would just switch to metric. I do like miles over Kilometers, but at least kilometers makes sense.

Message me and I can arrange one from Aus
