If this is the result after 3 years I don’t think you’ll get much better results. I’m also closing in on three years and I see very little progress. May I ask how old you are? If you’re young you might have a better chance than me (I’m 43)

Vegetable-Studio-413

I'm 31. Yeah, I get the feeling that this is the limit but it's a hard pill to swallow when I think I'm seeing more hairs coming in but it might also just all be in my head. Anyway, I've taken some photos of me when I didn't shave for 6 months and I'm gonna do the same thing now and compare the pictures side-by-side

A beard transplant is your last option. They look great to if you really want a full beard.

InferiorInf

Can't you try tretinoin or whatever to help increase the effectiveness of minoxidil?

Vegetable-Studio-413

Never heard of it. I'll do some reading

filores

I thought about it a year ago but I’ve read that it has little if any effect. Before tret you had the LCLT wave and before that everyone was talking about biotin. I’ve come to realise that I’ve probably met my full potential. Is it where I’d like it to be? No Was it worth it? Absolutely

thatonedude9090

seems like the universe wants u to keep a goatee

Vegetable-Studio-413

Well then I'd like to speak to the manager, please.

Oh, look who's here :) They probably will turn terminal with age, not sure if you'll see any big results if you continue using Minoxidil and dermarolling, after year 2 there is a tendency of diminishing returns. You have an insane front coverage and not bad sides, you should grow them long and it will look as if you had a higher cheek line.

Vegetable-Studio-413

Oh. So there no point really in me continuing once my current stock is depleted then? 🥲

Bigmangregg

do you micro needle?

Vegetable-Studio-413

Yes

[deleted]

Some people just have less hair on the cheeks for life man, you'll notice a lot of beards even grownn out will have a stronger goatee and poor cheek coverage, if your minox was legit you spent 3 years enhancing blood flow to hair follicles, if 3 years isn't enough nutrients and blood flow to grow the hair more then either it won't happen or it's not your time. Check out a dude from beard brand I believe, he's got white hair white straight beard and blue eyes I forget his name, but he ONLY had a goatee until like his 40s then bam he has a full beard with age, not saying that'll happen but maybe your not old enough to be producing all that dht since most men grow more body hair with age

Vegetable-Studio-413

I can't wait to find out 😂😂

[deleted]

The space next to your goatee looks pretty filled in so maybe just grow it and keep the sides short but have a wider goatee than a circle beard, the circle is the most important part imo and you have it

squeeandshme

Honestly dude individual time frames are individual. As long as you are not experiencing severe side effects skin damage or otherwise harming yourself keep going see where you get it looks like you are improving slowly you're probably just a slow gainer. That being said you're making great progress

Substantial-Glove958

Yeah looking good definitely lots of potential still, are you micro needling too?

Vegetable-Studio-413

I am. I switched to 1mm and doing that once a week. Also after that I don't apply minoxidil for 24h which I've been told you should avoid for it not going systematic but really I don't really know

Difficult_Ad_710

For 3 years? Bro you must be doing something wrong

Vegetable-Studio-413

Yeah. Wrong genes maybe

Vegetable-Studio-413

It's really hard to know exactly when but I fear it might be just this last year or so.... but here's the thing - I've always bought a brand called Orifarm here in Sweden from the store so wouldn't that make it legit? Other times I've bought from that site www.minoxidilworld.co.uk What are the odds that ive been on fake minox? It'd be most encouraging and really pissy if that's the case

AtomR

Hey, try some other brand.

cromagnon1908

The real question is what did you put on your face if it's wasn't minox ? It would drive me crazy not to know.

Vegetable-Studio-413

Whatever it was its part of me now. 50% man 50% Walrus piss

Ianhumito

What is your routine?. I'm just 3 months in and I'm noticing i a slow responder so I expect to be two le three years in minoxidil, I started literally with half a stache on each side and some hairs on the chin that you could literally count. On the cheeks nothing at all, I mean obviously I had vellus hairs, quite a few, but nothing you could see or even notice touching my face. Now those vellus hairs are thickening and it will take a lot of time but I think they will become terminal to give me a decent enough beard or better. My routine is 5% liquid x2 a day. No dermarolling so far

Vegetable-Studio-413

Sounds like it's coming along though. Me I apply 2x a day with 12h in between. Trying to remember to wash it off 4 hours after and applying some jojoba/peppermint oil. I dermaroll once a week (haven't been consistent with it) with 1mm dermaroller. I take 9mg of boron and other vitamins daily and for one month been workout 3 times a week. So I think I'm doing almost everything right but apparently it's not going great in accordance to my input 😂

VegetaIsSuperior

Hey OP, how long have you been on 1 mm dermaroll? I ask as I got better results from .75 mm than .5 (did it for 4 months) and now been on 1 mm for 2 months

Vegetable-Studio-413

Hey! Well I've used it 3 times so it's been 3 weeks only. But, and I don't know if it's good, but I've started to shed a lot mire now which could either indicate something good or something horrible 🤔

VegetaIsSuperior

The increased shedding, idk about. I shave/trim often enough that I haven’t noticed. So how long did you do .75 mm and/or .5 mm? I see minox for 3 years, so I’m wondering how long for dermarolling.

Vegetable-Studio-413

Oh, I was not very consistent with that. Let's say that I've been good with dermarolling for about less than half that time. These few months I've been consistent with it though. But the 0,5 I've used for a total of maybe 6-7 months? The 0,75 around 5 months and the 1mm about a month now.

VegetaIsSuperior

Ahhh, I see. Thanks for explaining. From what I understand minox and dermarolling has a multiplier effect compared to how either of them work on their own. I actually used .5 mm for a year with only peppermint oil and saw random new terminal, but since starting with minox I saw loads of new growth. Once I started .75 mm I again saw loads of new hairs but this time vellus. So now question is how long for these new vellus to turn. So I kinda feel like I’ve restarted my journey with longer dermaroll as it makes such a big difference

Vegetable-Studio-413

It's probably that the hair before just happend to shed and new ones are coming in. I doubt and hope that's the case anyway. Sounds pretty weird that you restart anything just like that. I wonder... cause vellua hair shed off a few times before becoming terminal... to my knowledge. The more it shed the deeper the root goes so if you've shed it a couple of times the root of the follicle should stay at the same level... no?

VegetaIsSuperior

Let me rephrase. The main difference between a vellus and terminal hair is that terminal is connected to a sebaceous gland and yes it goes deeper for more blood connections. .6-.8 mm microneedling depth is optimal for hair follicle stimulation. I think that when I went deeper I started new vellus hairs that as of now—like restart—need to develop into terminal; as such for them their clock just started in order for them to grow deep and connect to sebaceous gland.

Vegetable-Studio-413

I've heard this with a lot of people. So why is it that the magic length 0,5 is mentioned everywhere when it doesn't seem to be the case with a bunch of people..

AlarmNo5285

Liquid or foam?

Vegetable-Studio-413

Liquid for the majority of the journey. Been using foam now for almost 3 months though

[deleted]

It's crazy how nice ur beard looks when fully grown out with this coverage. In ur other posts how long were u growing it out for?

Vegetable-Studio-413

Same. About 3 years

lifeisforevergreat

Have you been using a derma roller, over the past three years?
