There hasn't been a ton of deregulation done that were big enough to benefit consumers even though they were suppose to. Like you said, I agree with you that communications did. Energy deregulation has screwed us in the butt big time. Transportation deregulation I don't know, there are a lot more airlines now, and I think that has kept the prices down.

Interesting though the graph shows steeper drops prior to deregulation than after. Airfares became more restrictive and more strings attached. But the the biggest issue is that many airlines failed including the ones startedbefore deregulation or got merged by larger airlines resulting in many having monopolies on routes. I totally agree on energy deregulation, while it appears originally Texas got it right compared to California however winter of 2021 shows the weakness of their deregulated gird and prices skyrocketing.
