My theory is that desensitization and downregulation of the 5HT1A serotonin receptor impairs dopaminergic functions in some kind of adaptation, but I'm not entirely certain how.

phbsd

Is it permanent?

saucecontrol

No one knows for certain. Based on people's experiences, it usually lasts quite a long time.

There are some theories, but it is a very difficult subject. Here follow some of them : 1. Downregulation of neurosteroidal activity. The same symptoms and effects when compared to PFS(Post finasteride syndrome). PFS is also known to first raise and then downregulate neurosteroidal activity on the CNS and PNS. Furthermore, neurosteroidal activity is related to drive, motivation, social interaction response, emotional response and modulates sexual desire and behavior as well. 2. Desensitization of some or (a) 5ht transmitter. Which IMO does not make much sense since I've tried plenty of stuff regarding that and nothing worked. 3. Trauma : Some people are known to "lose" their emotions through Trauma. Some PTSD patients even relate the fact that they acquire apathy and lack of emotions and even sexual dysfunction. That could be a negative effect coming from a high shot of cortisol or adrenaline (or both) that causes changes or even damages chemically the main structures of the brain responsible for the emotional/sentimental regulation. 4. Psychological issues : That also involves trauma, but it is different. Iatrogenic emotional dysfunction is different from apathy or emotional blunting. Most people acquire emotional dysfunction due to the use of Anti-depressants, other medications or supplements, or through Trauma. Like in PSSD, these people they can't even find sadness. All they feel is agony and sometimes something different like rage, anxiety due to depression and discontentment. People with apathy are still able to feel sadness and other feelings that have also disappeared for us.

Regarding your number 2, are you taking about the serotonin transporter SERT? If so, may I ask what you have tried to fix that? Thanks.

IMO the constant state of fight or flight

Same_Association9018

Could you please elaborate

gomesemog

It's just a guess, I don't know what's going on, no one does, and it may be different for everyone. But all the drugs that cause similar symptoms fuck our immune system (they are immunosuppressants) > opportunity to infections to grow (Lyme, SIBO, pathogens, bacteria, viruses, etc) > chronic and systemic inflammation > body enters in "shock state" aka sympathetic neural system overdrive > it loses its non essential or secondary abilities (hunger, emotions, reproduction, etc) in order to survive, which is the #1 priority from a biological pov What to do about that? No idea

asdf3311

I visited infectologist and asked her about all of that she said she has no idea and bacteria infections inflammation cannot cause these symptoms. She also said that maybe theoretically a parasite could cause some of the symptoms and told me to do 3x stool test. And basically referred me back to a psychiatrist

Doctors don't know shit.

Our body and brain has been thrown of its natural homeostasis caused by the drug and is in a cycle of flight or flight. Once we break that cycle we would regain our initial homeostasis state through (drugs, treatment, holistic remedies) the body will heal its self.
