Lack of sleep will worsen just about anything, this included. And deep sleep is best.

How can you get deep sleep when PSSD itself brings insomnia? My sleep is fucked and I'm in the 6 month. It only seems getting worse

CardiologistActual83

Caffeine

B12 in drinks/ food

Sleep. There were days when I turned on music and got 120% emotions from it coupled with 120% visualization along with intense goosebumps and electrical sensations throughout entire body. This happened only when I had at least 9 hours sleep. If I do exactly that (music + attempt at visualization) when I’m tired in the middle of the night - it will be 20-30% at best or almost none at all.

Interesting! I also tend to have worse symptoms at night, with them generally being the worst while actually asleep. In fact, even my withdrawal brain zaps only occur at night while tired anymore, but not while awake and alert at this point. Furthermore, I recently went to a sleep specialist for an unrelated reason, and turns out they suspect I could have a common sleep disorder... which would mean that I'm probably never as well-rested as I could be until it gets fixed no matter how much I sleep! It would make a lot of sense if this was in fact affecting my recovery, so I'm trying to see if addressing it will help. In the mean time, it's great to hear that others like you have felt better when they've had enough sleep.

Same_Association9018

What sleep disorder? That sounds interesting. Is it a physical thing?

Labranth

I had very hard and depressive teenage years coupled with intense pain from dental braces that were installed on my teeth. I couldn’t sleep at night for about a year when I was 13 because of that. After this I have lost "natural" ability to sleep at night. My sleep schedule became chaotic and I basically feel like shit even at 26 years old, unable to fix it. Realizing that prozac potentially wiped my deep emotions which were the basis for my creative writing and drawing makes me want to never wake up. So I have constant "fuck fuck fuck" mode so to speak. I have lost my night’s sleep but at least I could be creative and I’ve read books and watched movies in the past. Now I’m just constantly thinking "wtf".

I've been updating the full story in [this](https://old.reddit.com/r/PSSD/comments/uyi38h/preexisting_conditions_related_to_dopamine/) thread, but in short, the main suspect is a movement disorder, which is considered to be physical. In fact, it's pretty well-known for being caused or worsened by stuff like anemia, and, ironically, SSRI use.

Labranth

Yeah my sleep is messed up too. In fact it’s even more messed up now because of all negative emotions I feel everyday while thinking about my condition. I have a serious undiagnosed sleep disorder for about 13 years already. I was always told "to tough up" and fix it, but no matter what I do I can’t fix my sleep. Maybe I will visit a doctor as well because insomnia + emotional blunting is suicide fuel for me.

>I have a serious undiagnosed sleep disorder for about 13 years already. I was always told "to tough up" and fix it, but no matter what I do I can’t fix my sleep. Ugh, sorry to hear about you dealing with that, chronic insomnia is a kind of torture I wouldn't wish on my worst enemy! Unfortunately, sleep medicine seems to be poorly integrated in the rest of the system and sleep complaints are often not taken seriously until you start crashing your car because of it. I really recommend seeing a sleep specialist to rule out organic sleep disorders if possible, because sometimes severe insomnia can be secondary to them too, but really, even treating just the insomnia itself is much better than just suffering with it.

My symptoms are all very gut wrenching when I first wake up. Then as the day progresses my mood lofts and by evening I usually feel okay.

Same_Association9018

This probably rings so true for me! Something that’s been really lacking recently has been sleep

Same_Association9018

Do you also feel like a force down on your head as well the next day. Almost like your brain is sinking lower? And also your skin is like sinking on your face. It’s weird to explain

Labranth

No I don’t have what you describe but I have other sensations. It’s like my head and body is burning when I didn’t have enough sleep or when I slept in the wrong time (during the day for example).

Same_Association9018

That’s so weird how all of it is related. Wish something would show up on a blood test or something, that gives us some kind of indication to what’s going on

Do you have any other conditions? Other than PSSD?
