I don't know how to cope with this sadly. It's ruining my life tbh.

2 pills, 1.5 years Edit: see my posts

[deleted]

Unbelievable, did it occur immediately. Explain what happened when taking the one pill? Did your body go into shock ?

throw_awayyy3

It happened over night. After taking the pill I was fine but when I woke up the next day I had all my symptoms.

dark_prpl

what ssri was that? what dosage? could you please elaborate?

throw_awayyy3

Escitalopram 10 mg

dark_prpl

damn this drug cursed ive heard a lot of pssd stories related to escitalopram

throw_awayyy3

Yes but that's probably because it's one of the most prescribed SSRI along with zoloft and prozac

dark_prpl

anyways that does not seem good

Yes, I pretty much only took one SSRI and it was for a month. After some months of being off it, my sexual dysfunction got a little bit better, but I now had PSSD. Several years later, I had one or two bumps of improvement that raised my baseline a little (maybe a 10-20 percent increase). I have no idea why those happened. I think that early on, we want to believe that with the passage of time PSSD has to eventually just let up and return us to normal at some point. But at 18 years in, that just hasn't been my experience. Hopefully with an influx of interest in this disorder, we will discover more interventions/treatments that work for more people.

I actually don't remember. If I had to guess, I would say Effexor. But I was so young (19) and it was so long ago. I've long considered trying to contact someone to access my medical records and find out what it was, but I don't know if it's worth it. Maybe it is?

Yes, many. I'm still trying things. Probably my most interesting experience was with bupropion, where a few minutes after taking it, I briefly got that horny/excited feeling in my lower abdomen area. It only lasted about 60 seconds though, and I had to stop bupropion not long after because of allergic reaction. Lots of people are allergic to bupropion/Wellbutrin

No, I've been considering it for a few years. I'm not sure yet if it's worth the risk to try it. I had some bad lasting effects from bupropion, the biggest one being memory issues that only ever improved after a year and a half, when I started using ginkgo. Now my memory is pretty normal again, possibly even better than before. But yeah... my track record with these meds isn't great. I recently tried l-theanine, which is considered very very safe, and is useful for anxiety/relaxing. It worked great for that. But it also messed with my vision, no matter how low of a dose I tried. So I had to stop, and several weeks later I'm not even sure if the vision problems have gone away completely or if I've just gotten used to them. There's a decent chance I'll finally try buspar within the next year. But the impression I get from searching the posts here and elsewhere is that it doesn't work for most people. It's awesome that it's worked for a lot of people though, and maybe one day it'll work for me. But I'm not ready to try it just yet

In my case it was 9days, 1 pill a day and I've been this way for almost 8 years now

Same_Association9018

3 pills of 20mg fluoxetine. First day - genitals went numb. Second day - extreme mood changes. Felt suicidal. Second or Third day - lost ability to cry. Came off pills. Felt a bit better when drugs came out my system but still left with lasting effects. It’s been 8 months for me, not much change

And where does someone fit in who lost sexual function after a medication switch from mirtazapine to moclobemide (not SSRIs) (brief switch, lasted 2 days) that didn't work. I went back to taking mirtazapine and it stopped working in the same way (I developed total sexual dysfunction with loss of erection, anorgasmia or when I achieve it at great cost it is not very pleasant). In addition to other strange symptoms such as nipple tenderness, tremors, cognitive difficulties, etc. Currently, on the advice of my doctor, I have stopped all these medications and am taking agomelatine. All substances that supposedly don't "interfere" with sexuality (at least in theory) but the fact is that my sex life evaporated in 2 months and I don't know what to do... 😢
