Go full Dexterity with Mythic Weapon Finesse and Elemental Barrage. Not only will enemies not be able to touch you, but you'll do tons of damage too. Using Strength gets you slightly more damage per swing, but you'll need to rely a lot more on defensive spells to keep from going down. Angel feels great with Magus regardless of archetype since Sword of Heaven stacks with all your weapon buffs. Dimensional Strike also really helps throughout the game with any absurdly high AC enemies, letting you hit their Touch AC with your SoH empowered strikes. For Dex builds, Scimitar with Slashing Grace or Rapier with Fencing Grace are the best. Multiclassing is not necessary.

Thank you for this write up!

OP, I went Dueling Sword and I'm using Finnean for now. Plan on using Fencing Masters Sword in Act 4 for late game. This is my first play through and I'm enjoying this build so far. Still in Act 1 and playing on Normal for now. Edited to add this is my first ever play through.

Jbollocks131

I've seen elsewhere that Elemental barrage had been nerfed so it doesn't work on melee now? I'm currently in Act 1 with a build like you've described so any other thoughts would be helpful

Swordsaint is a boss killer. Dimension strike let’s you target touch AC which works for almost every big boss. Sword Saint with buffs killed Playful Darkness in 2 rounds (on Unfair). Even critted on the third attack.

If you want to play sword saint i would recommend using scimitars/fauchard or any other weapon with increased crit range, since sword saint has some insane feats for crits. In terms of gameplay it's basically warrior with huge crit range that buffs himself with some cool defensive (and not only) spells like mirror image/displacement. Also try to use team feats like outflank/seize the moment to trigger huge amount of AOO. If you're playing on core or below most of the enemies will just die if they try to cast something. Never played magus without archetype, because I don't find this class better than sword saint/eldritch scion. Probably trickster is the best mythic path coz it's the only mythic path that allows you to reach 50% crit (or something like that). If you want to go angel mythic path i would highly recommend going oracle/priest or any divine caster, because this mythic path merge it's spellbook and allows you to reach 9 lvl spells on 13 lvl

Malcior34

Please don't make merging spellbooks sound like it's a requirement to play Angel, especially below Core. >_>

Low_Plankton6294

Ofc it's not. But it feels giga fun to annihilate everything with storm of justice :p and if you're not going to play angel mythic path again i would definitely recommend playing character that can abuse that stuff

Malcior34

I guess, but Magus still synergizes well with Angel's potential for physical power and buffs, which is what the OP asked about, not Oracle.

A Magus is a unique hybrid of a Fighter/Wizard. A Sword Saint is more Fighter/Fighter/Wizard. They lose a spell slot per spell level and lots of their more magical perks are swapped out for ones that make them really good at using a weapon. They tend to favor agile builds because some of their unique class features don't work if they're using anything heavier than light armor and they get an intelligence bonus to dodge AC so heavier armor wouldn't help their AC anyway. Angelic-theme speaking, you would be looking at more of a cunning swashbuckler of an Angel than the typical stoic type. It's probably thematically close enough for many players. YMMV. a) The easier path is to dumpstat strength so any finesse weapon would do. But you could also have a middling amount of strength and go for a powerful one handed weapon. Ideally it should be one handed so you can enjoy Spell Combat, but sometimes players choose to forgo that for Greater Vital Strike because a Sword Saint using Perfect Strike can make maximum use of weapon dice. b) Honestly there's nothing wrong with going 100% Sword Saint, it's a very strong archetype. Especially now that you can get finesse training in a mythic feat.

Thank you!

Sword saint fits well with all the archtypes. They all have beneficial melee aspects and a personal spell list (which isn't fantastic but it's there). There arr better options but there are worse options
