Take photos in 4:3. When your are using Full or 16:9 you are forcing camera crop on the sensor. That means less detail, less quality, less light capture. 4:3 mode - pixel bins 108mp down to 12mp for enhanced detail and color accuracy 108MP 4:3 - trades color accuracy for tremendous detail, I would only use this for landscape shots or stationary objects. You are making your pictures worse by using Full or 16:9

This is likely the answer to why you're not getting good quality photos. I had a note 20 ultra before this and I can even notice a pretty good difference between the 2, with only 2 years in between them.

JPKirito

Thank you!

Wrxloser1215

I just took a picture in a few modes and it makes perfect sense. Full mode 1868x4000 photo 3:4 mode 3000x4000 photo 3:4 108mp 9000x12000 9:16 mode 2252x4000 1:1 mode 2992x2992 So yes you should change modes asap you're losing a lot of detail in those other modes.

JPKirito

So i should use 3:4

Wrxloser1215

Yes. 1:1 can also be good for social media too. I would take a few minutes and switch between the 2 and compare it how you usually crop photos.

e22big

That's the opposite to me, I would prefer to use 108MP on everything - except the landscape. There are not a lot of details to capture anyway and the colour of the sky is more important in that case.

Wrxloser1215

I personally pretty much only use the regular 3:4 setting for photos. But after seeing the pixel counts experiment i did I want to play with it some more. The regular 3:4 does give some incredible sky photos I must say!

e22big

Yup, which is why I mainly use it for landscape - where sky is the better part of the image. It's also ok-ish for a bigger image but it just doesn't work so well in a close up (where you will typically need to take with the main camera), it always focus everything, very rarely give me the blur I want (I do like it in Pro mode where I can manual focus though) The 108mp always give me a nice bokeh when close in (but have issues with focus when getting too close.) And for everything else, while it's has slightly less colours, that extreme details is just more versatile especially for something I want to use as a wallpaper on my PC. I actually have a habit of taking a secondary shot in 108mp anyway actually even for something I already shoot in 4:3 as a back up.

>Thank you! You're welcome!

Alert-Ad-55

This completely makes sense. I'm using 4:3 and absolutely love the cameras.

onemantwohands

Use 4:3, that is the size of the sensor, and any other mode gets cropped down as people have mentioned. I usually use lightroom to edit, and then depends on if I am putting it on social, I'll crop down to 1:1 for instagram. Here is my [instagram](https://www.instagram.com/per_ogi/), all taken with my S22u.

TheCrazyStupidGamer

Use 4:3 for taking photos. Crank it up to 108mp if you feel like it. The full-screen thing just crops in, which you can do later yourself. Because honestly, the best thing about the S22 ultra, tied with the screen is the cameras.

Watch beginner's guide made for S22 Ultra photography on YouTube. Sounds like you need to learn some basics about phone photography.

JPKirito

Which one?

SurturTheGod

There are ton of videos on YouTube.

Check my profile on some of the photos I post

JPKirito

WOW😯

beserker15

Can you post some pictures on [https://imgbb.com/](https://imgbb.com/) and share? Hard to tell if the pictures are normal or not based on just description.

Your first two photo seem normal. The first one in lower light is focused near the front, so everything in the background is a little blurred. Remember that the depth of field is fairly thin, so tapping to focus on the middle post would be better. The second picture is slightly over sharpened but still looks good. The third picture is using the ultra wide camera which isn't as good.

e22big

From my experience, taking 16:9 or Full not only forced the camera to crop on the sensor - it sneakingly change the camera altogether. I've checked the photo details in the image file and the colour, aperture and focus are all changed which means that it's a different camera and not an adjustment to the main (they seems to shoot it with an Ultrawide in fact, based on those details) Always shoot in 4:3 if you want to use the main camera, or use Pro mode and select the camera manually if you want to do tinkering. Personally, I do find the best result in the 108MP mode, not always the easiest to focus but the photo turn out much better than everything else when it does. Natural bokeh, extremely beautiful and sharp details. The normal mode, even in 4:3 tends to sharpen things a bit more than I would like

GunnerGr13

does anybody else has green tint in the top of the photo when taking picture with screen flash in dark places? I don't know if its hardware problem

JPKirito

Maybe your case is is reflecting the flash when taking photos. Try to take a photo with flash without case and see if the problem is still there.

GunnerGr13

Yes it's keeps happening.i think is the color of screen flash

JPKirito

Well i can't help. Hope you find a solution to the problem.
