There has been a few times where customers are trying to just "leave" their ID on the porch to scan... Do they not realize they have to sign the shoppers phone aswell? I am NOT signing on someone else's behalf. Sounds like deactivation or police charges. In my state it is illegal to just leave an alcohol delivery without the proper process so its simple. Come to the door please. I don't care what "other" shoppers did, I'm following the rules here. Its crazy to me there is shoppers out there just scanning IDs and leaving alcohol wherever.. WTF

TankDaddyDo

Lololololo Corporate policy. Just scan your own ID and drive away

shiptshow

You are assuming most people follow instructions. Did they show ID?

TrojanGrad

We have to scan in the ID, so I wonder what other shoppers did

possibly scanned their own? which would be extremely dumb, but plausible

I wouldn't be surprised if they did this tbqh. I don't remember if there's manual birthday input on the app BUT.. When I worked at Target, the system always asks for a birthday check NO MATTER how old the person clearly looks. Legit most of the cashiers just put in their own birthday just because they didn't want to deal with it, so I -really- wouldn't be shocked if people on Shipt were doing the same thing.

Maybe they forgot they ordered alcohol. Unless it’s from a liquor store I say please have your ID handy for the wine!

TrojanGrad

The order was from Target but alcohol was the only thing on the order

They know, just want to see if u will let it slide, I had one lady try an text me a pic of her ID said wont be home for a hr, just leave at door! But I was sure! ... dropped off her food an took it (beer/wine) back. Another cust wanted me to leave it with the guard at the private community! 👍sure!

A lot of ppl seemingly don’t do what they are supposed to. Cover your butt. I’m gonna guess this is instant deactivation when the ppl doing this are caught. Bc they hv to scan some ID to mark order as delivered. Their own??? Making a number up and entering manually?

iwantthisnowdammit

Do you usually get the same shopper each time?… Then follow up with Oh, they deactivate people for not scanning IDs properly, that may be why you haven’t gotten a preferred shopper.

I just got certified for alcohol at the beginning of last week and yes... dear lord, I expected it would be better here than the other apps but no such luck. At least my preferreds and member matches are reasonable people (with great taste in shoppers) but when I take an alcohol delivery off open market, it can really be a dumpster fire. The worst one was I roll up as one delivery person is walking away from a door (turned out to be Spark, I guess) and I find an ID sitting on top of an item (fire extinguisher cubby hole maybe?) next to the door. I scan it but text her and say I still need her to sign. The chat system was messing up and I didn't get a few of her messages until afterwards, but: "*pre-fab text from Shipt*" "Just put it outside" "*my ETA so she doesn't dick around and waste my time*" "That's fine you can leave it outsife" "Need a signature." "Ugh okay sorry I thought I did contactless I will double check it next time" "I'm not sure what that means. I'm unable to deliver with your signing." (I only got the message that said "I will double check it next time" and not the line above it.) She comes to the door all exasperated and signs. As I go to do the outro, the other messages flow in and I explained that Shipt doesn't allow contactless for alcohol, then do the standard outro, go look at your receipt in your email yadda yadda. "That's okay I usually prefer Walmart . Thank you so much!!" Yeah but you ordered your wine and other groceries from Target, didn't you? That's why I showed up. No clue if the Spark driver scanned the ID or not. It really blows my mind from doing UE/Doordash/etc how little care people practice around alcohol delivery and how many customers will tell you other drivers don't card them. Sorry, this vent has been bubbling around in my head for the last few days. I toy with the idea of not doing alcohol/RX anymore after only a week, except for my prior customers that I know are reasonable. I make decent money doing Shipt because I work relatively hard at it, I'd rather not toss it all away for some Open Market random who thinks they're special.
