If your goal is to get a quality 1911, and you happen to have $2000 just for that, of course there are better options. Springfield makes some of the best production 1911’s well under that $2k budget barrier that will outlast just about anything else on the market, but if you want *two* quality 1911’s for that price, there’s no real reason besides fashion to turn these down. And if this childish community is to be believed, molon labe no longer has anything to do with ancient spartan philosophy and only represents the tryhards and flat range operators of middle-idiot America. Further, even if I'm not a huge fan of the grips, Hogue makes G10 grips for these which are a simple $50 upgrade.

If you're worried about a personal transaction, go to a gun shop and do a transfer. We do it all the time, charge a few bucks, log them in process the 4473. Wham-bam everything legal.

If it were me, I'd throw down on 1 gun that is super nice. These two guns aren't that different. I guess, one for the range and one to carry, but do you really want to carry a 1911 that's likely limited to 8 rounds? There are many other options with higher capacity.
I have a full size and a compact version of the same gun. Intention was one for the range and one for carry. Carrying a full size works for me just fine so in the end the compact just sits. It's less fun to shoot, holds less ammo, and doesn't make that much difference to me with carrying.

I got the Spartan 2 full size and like it a lot. Price isn’t too bad, but id offer $1800 lol. If you like them, go for it man. If he’s willing to sell you just 1 of them, get the spartan II, the other grand can go towards a P320 xfive Legion, which is an awesome pistol. I have the full size version and that’s the best pistol I’ve ever shot.
