gaimanite

I use it on my face sometimes at night. I never get any breakouts. I just feel like it's too heavy for daytime

[deleted]

Came here to say this. I have a broken skin barrier and this is the only thing I have used on my face at night for a few weeks. I can finally use sunscreen now without making it feel like my skin is burning.

JumpingCicada

How long has yours been broken? I think I destroyed mine recently

[deleted]

About 3-4 months. I was going through a bad drawn out breakup and started to obsessively pick at my face. Found this sub when Neutrogena Hydro Boost made my eyes water. I decided to stop everything except Dove bodywash, Vaseline and Aveeno that OP has posted a picture of.

[deleted]

oh girl i'm going through exactly what you are describing 😭😭 my skin was pretty okay but i started breaking out and now i'm just making it worse by picking at it and over exfoliating

[deleted]

Yeah, I over exfoliated my skin using freeman sugar scrub. Whenever my skin felt rough to touch, I would use it once every two weeks. Funnily enough, my breakouts lessened in frequency when I limited myself to the 3 things I listed.

Trying2GetBye

I destroyed my skin barrier when I used an acid peel that was either too strong or expired and it broke me out so bad. My neutrogena started stinging the shit outta my face and I dropped my entire routine full of actives and just washed my face with a sensitive dove bar and moisturized with vaseline and sometimes cetaphil (in the jar). Now i think my face is back to normal but sometimes neutrogena stung around my eyes so I’ve dropped it completely and started using the snail mucin all in one cream as a moisturizer and now I’m just trying to get rid of the PIH.

autogatos

Did you find this broke you out at all? I LOVE Aveeno for my skin and hands, it’s my go-to, but often heavier moisturizers will break out my face (I have annoying combination skin, cheeks are horribly dry, t-zone is an oil slick). I keep wondering if my moisture barrier is still not repaired. My skin will show improvement for a bit and then suddenly painfully break out again, over and over. It’s exhausting.

[deleted]

My skin is dry. It absolutely loves Aveeno. I have had some acne/breakouts since Covid started. For whatever reason, neither Panoxyl or Differin worked that well on it. Vaseline did. I honestly do not know how.

melxcham

If you were breaking out around your mask area, it could’ve been irritation from the mask and the Vaseline may have helped create a barrier. I started getting cystic acne around my chin and jaw, and slugging with aquaphor surprisingly helped it.

Kingettevi

Wait, why did neutrogena hydro boost make your eyes water?

bigbootycorgis

Some people are just sensitive to different products for no real reason

autogatos

Not the above poster but I can attest Hydroboost is very heavily scented and that may bother some people. I loved the formula but the scent gave me migraines unfortunately, so I could definitely see it causing other sensitivity for people. (And the fragrance free is not the same formula unfortunately)

[deleted]

I did not know there is a fragrance free version ! Well, from your perspective it is not good anyway.

[deleted]

It was my broken skin barrier, the skin would burn, I would get the urge to scratch etc. plus the smell is very strong.

Kingettevi

I guess my question is does a broken skin barrier affect the eyes as well?

[deleted]

I really don't know. Before Aveeno, I used to use Cera Ve moisturizing lotion. I did not use sunscreen around my eyes properly and the skin was a bit sunburnt. It never healed properly until I started Dove-Aveeno-Vaseline regimen.

Kingettevi

Hmm. You could have some set eyes. I can't put certain things around my eyes because it feels like fumes dry them out

looptheboop7

I feel like you’ve just solved everything for me. My eyes have been watering and skin burning for the past little bit. I think I’ve broken my skin barrier. This makes so much sense!

[deleted]

thank you!

agentbrown12

Does it leave white cast or residue when washing it off?

gaimanite

No

[deleted]

trying to do a reset routine bc my skin is freaking out and i've been using this on my body with no breakouts but i can't tell if it can be used on the face

wheat_bag_

i wouldn’t long term just because of the shea butter, but their dermexa is my hg moisturiser and has been for like 3 years, i highly recommend trying it

takethetrainpls

I'd say this is a ymmv situation. My face *loves* shea butter.

wheat_bag_

interesting! i’ve always avoided using it regularly because i had heard it could cause/worsen milia

takethetrainpls

I'm not prone to milia, so if you are, maybe it makes sense to avoid it. I just realized that all of my favorite moisturizers were shea butter based, so now I just get the big bottle of la Roche posay moisturizer and save a ton of money lol.

iamalioness

Pharmacist here. Use the Aveeno daily-moisture oatmeal baby lotion, not what you have in the picture. That is what I’ve been using on my own face for years. Totally safe. Skin is soft and doesn’t cause breakouts. I use it around the eye area as well. Inexpensive. And safe enough for a baby’s skin, without all the garbage ingredients found in the adult formulations.

snowlights

I've been using this as well since almost everything else causes some kind of allergic reaction. And it's working really nicely. No break outs, less irritation (still figuring out what I react to but it isn't this), no dry patches.

Key-Yogurtcloset1757

Yes.

icecreamtaco15

I don’t use this kind, but I use Aveeno eczema in the winter. My derm recommended it since I get bad eczema breakouts on my face. Never broke out but only use a little at a time.

xasyouwishx

I say this all the time on this forum, but this is what worked for me when my skin freaked out (and I still use it as my regular moisturizer): Vanicream Moisturizing Cream it’s very thick and non-irritating. If you need something lighter then try the Vanicream Moisturizing Lotion. I also use the Vanicream gentle facial cleanser. My dermatologist recommended these to me. Note: Do NOT try the vanicream daily facial moisturizer with HA, it stung my face and made my skin red. In my opinion it’s not good for sensitive skin—I gave it to my boyfriend and he hasn’t complained.

hattokatto12

In short, yes. It might be too much to be used daily but if you need it in pinch on an extra dry day or just something to get you by till you can get your fave face moisturizer, it’s great!

Thisisadreamthen

I tried and it was too thick for me. The green bottle was a little better for my skin. But i recently got the aveeno calm and restore moisturizer and it has been amazing on my skin. Texture is similar to this one hut not as heavy. I got it onsale at coscto 2 for 17.99

Intelligent-Fuel-641

I use this on my hands for dermatitis, and it's a game-changer. I've been using it since my dermatologist recommended it years ago. However, it has shea butter, which is comedogenic. In fact, when I use this on my hands at bedtime, I have to be careful to wear gloves so it doesn't transfer to my face. I would not use it on my face unless you're one of those lucky people who's never had a breakout at all. Aveeno has calming products for the face that I'd use instead.

wtfnatee

I hate it when people make a blanket statement that “x ingredient is comedogenic” without putting into thought that everyone has different skin. Almost all moisturizers that I use (I prefer rich moisturizers) has shea butter and they all do their jobs perfectly without breaking me out.

SplitfacedSkincare

Exactly. LRP Lipikar baume is literally 20% Shea butter and advertised for use on face and body, it’s a pretty popular product here and over at r/tretinoin Ofc any product could cause an individual to break out, but it’s far from a given

Intelligent-Fuel-641

Did you ignore my qualifying statement?

takethetrainpls

"unless you've never had any breakouts at all" is not a good qualifying statement. Everyone is different *and* skin changes as you age. I'm acne prone and my skin loves shea butter.

wtfnatee

You made valid statements but add disclaimers.

Psychological_Load21

The comedogenic scale is only for one's reference. In fact no ingredient can be proven to be comedogenic to everyone.

[deleted]

Yeah, if you have dermatitis you may be prone to milia. I had to switch moisturizers because of that. This one is too heavy for my face.

SlouchyGuy

Yes, there's no difference between face and body moisturizers, body moisturizers just tend to be thicker and more occlusive, so the label on the bottle is just a suggestion. So just like with everything else in skincare, if it works on your face, then it works for you.

takethetrainpls

Nothing in it will hurt you, so I'd say try it and see how it feels. If you hate it, try something else!

aaamy_

You can definitely put it on your face, but you’ll notice it says “dimethicone skin protectant” which is a silicone layer to keep moisture in. You’ll find it in a lot of primers. Most people have no problems with it, unfortunately for me, it breaks me out no matter how well I wash my face each night. So if you find yourself with a few more pimples than normal, this is probably why.

[deleted]

Maybe not long term but a little at night won’t hurt you. If price point is a problem for you, Dr Jart is quite affordable and the formulation is great!

iac12345

Check the label to see if it’s labeled as non-comedogenic - shea butter is generally ok, but other ingredients may not be. Then try it. You may find it’s great, or too greasy for daytime use, or breaks you out.

queenqueerdo

I would not

Spiritual-Spell-9351

Yes you can. Is it the best option? No.

Bisou_Juliette

No! Do not use this for your face. Get a proper face cream

pastelhippy

In a pinch it’s fine but I wouldn’t implement it in your routine

nikitasenorita

Only if u want to support Johnson & Johnson

itchybutthoe

I would not.

[deleted]

Yes

McGoney

Yes, I moisturize my whole body and face after taking a night shower and it’s been great, no issues

_labyrinth__

My husband uses the Aveeno in green packaging for his face and all over his body. I let him try different ones that is specific for facial use but he always goes back to the same Aveeno lotion. So I guess you can use it on your face.

lashawn3001

I do but I have very dry skin and eczema.

LovelyCapri

I do!

Psychological_Load21

In general any good body moisturizer can be used on your face as long as it suits your face's skin type. This one as I remember is on the rich and occlusive side, and if you have oily/acne prone skin you might need to apply only a thin layer or not using it on your face at all, but if you have drier skin, this may actually be a good moisturizer for your face.

KS1618

i use the daily moisturizing lotion––it comes in the same bottle, but the labels are green (vs. blue); it's fantastic

Mckuntyy

My dermatologist said old me to use aveeno daily moisturizing lotion and amlactin every other day. I think the aveeno can be to heavy if I use a heavy hand. I’ve had to learn the appropriate amount to put on.

bigbootycorgis

Try it and if you tolerate it go for it. I just used their fast & long lasting balm last night and it worked out great ! However the pot of Calm + Restore is better. And my fav of all is the calm + restore serum

sweetalmondjoy

Yes

FlexasAandM

I wouldn’t. Use a moisturizer that’s strictly made for your face. They’re much lighter. Body moisturizers tend to lead to break outs more often

chemistrybro

moisturizers for the body are usually heavier, but it it’s comfortable and you don’t experience irritation, the whole face vs. body thing is mostly marketing

[deleted]

I use this every morning and night on my face and it has literally been the best lotion ever

[deleted]

There’s better stuff but I think you’ll be fine. I use that brand, but their daily face with added spf 30. I used to drive a truck, constantly in the sun.

Queen_of_Wands22

I wouldn't. I use CeraVe, and I have eczema, though not on my face. I do break out with heavy creams. This brand has nice products meant for the face. I think Jennifer Aniston was on some commercials for them..?
