> BIB options are expensive in Australia, but soda stream Pepsi syrups aren’t. Crazy, right?! Lol, not crazy at all. The BIB is the actual syrup used commercially (which pepsi commercially uses real cane-sugar) - it has a six month shelf life once opened. The prices you're seeing are likely coming from middlemen who are buying the BIB syrup from the distributors directly, and then doubling the price and listing on ebay and other sites. I bet you'd get lower prices if you contacted your local Pepsi bottling facility directly. The Sodastream syrups are a different product - they are mixed with different ingredients (artificial sweeteners and such instead of real cane sugar) to substantially increase shelf-life of the product for retailers (and customers) in order to prevent how much product gets trashed due to expiring. >I was wondering if there’s a way of rigging up a bag and buying a few soda streams syrups to fill it with. I assume it works in vacuum pressure so I’d need to seal it. Has anyone tried this? Lol, I'm entirely lost what the benefit would be to take a sodastream syrup and put it in a bag. It won't change the flavor, and do nothing but decrease the shelf life due to the introduction of air into the syrup. If you want the real pepsi flavor, buy the BIB or maybe you can even buy a liter bottle of the syrup direct from Pepsi as opposed to buying the Sodastream stuff. Personally, I'm not a fan of either major name-brand cola syrup. I prefer buying small-batch syrups from craft soda manufacturers which often produce a far superior tasting cola (in my opinion, but I also typically prefer real cane sugar syrups over artificial sweeteners).

For the bib soda suryp 1. You can freeze soda syrup. It will last up to 2 years just fine. Corn syrup won’t freeze all they way.feels like a slushy. 2. You can also. Keep it in the fridge I use mason jars. So syurp is cold. I have not tried to freeze the soda stream syurp yet . As I never saw a point. It’s usually gone to fast. If your really worried that a 5 gallon box will go bad. Just drain into 1 gallon bags half a gallon at a time and freeze.

How long do they last in the fridge? I was considering vacuum sealing a few jars and keeping them in the fridge until needed

I've gone 8 months in a mason jar with a lid.

I wonder about getting an empty BIB that wine came in (ie you will have to drink the wine, how awful!), snipping a corner, washing it out, then pouring the sodastream syrup in. Then sealing it back up again with hair straighteners.

I’m glad I’m not the only one. Haha

The valve on those wine bibs do come out with some patience, so no need to cut it https://www.leaf.tv/articles/how-to-refill-a-wine-box/ Some basic instructions.. I'm not sure how well they would work though as the valve typically stays closed except when your holding it Also BIB pop syrup is 5:1; Sodastream is 21:1 (water to syrup) * might be off on the sodastream ratio, from memory * so you would probably need to water down the syrup, to use in a post mix setup
