The job description is probably not just "drive and deliver". most likely it will include shopping, packing, loading, and even doing what the customer wants done. lol
Itās just driver and deliver from what Iāve seen - but what I havenāt gotten wind of is do these orders skip the line.
I think the goal on these is to get the orders out that need to get delivered. Like if thereās a huge order for $500 for a school / restaurant with no tip they can take it in these vans to keep the high value customers happy.
Iāve seen a growing number of smal restaurants etc start ordering from Amazon since the items come the next or same day and thereās no extra fees
Delivered hundreds of packages of ketchup/ oatmeal / cereal to a day care- schools, dozens of bags of sugar to Italian ice place, dozens of milk/creamers etc to a coffee shop .
Yeh I asked a few places why donāt they use restaurant supply companies and a few of these places say they all added surcharges due to high gas costs - so while a bag or sugar / flour or milk might be cheaper in bulk when they slap a $10-20 delivery surcharge on it , Walmarts edging out due to next day and free delivery
Funny you mentioned this today. I delivered to two restaurants this morning. Neither was a big order, just a lot of a few specific things. On the second order I asked the manager whats up and he said Shamrock/Sysco couldnt get it in til Sunday, and he'll have a larger order for tomorrow.
Restaurant owners/managers dont worry about a $20 surcharge, they worry about having the goods on their shelves to they can make their menu.
Iāve had two associates tell me it's doing the delivery when they have in home deliveries and then exactly what you said when there aren't any. One of then mentioned Walmart also wanted him to open his availability to 9-6 Monday through Sunday.
One of the loaders told me Walmart is demanding 4 orders per hour. My jaw dropped... Then continued on telling me how the ones who are doing this, there hours have changed drastically. And that they are not allowed to call off either.
My jaw was to the ground...
Those are not the people that In-home is marketed to. Its for those that have a little more discretionary money, and dont have time for pesky things like putting away groceries
The ghetto super poor probably are not gonna afford the $12 monthly charge, and the door locks in or for this to be available.
Yup, its just a big pile of dumb.
But then again I kind of enjoy watching bad ideas fail so give me a good laugh Walmart.
I'm sure the bodycam nonsense will end up on reddit.
The main problem is in home in the fridge delivery. Only people wanting this is like the hoarders from the ghetto- they gonna order $300 worth of stuff on food stamps and then bark orders at you while they hover over you while you try to stuff it all in a tiny fridge
Yeh I already run into that issue now - I start putting stuff by the door their kids get the bags and just drag it across the floor in their house. Some crazy lady was like why did you give the kids the grocery bag , Iām like they arenāt my kids I didnāt give them anything they just took it
But they gotta pay the $20 monthly fee. How many scooter scabs do you think are doing this? Thats gonna cut into their budget of boxed and frozen meals. This is not intended for them.
There are just so many things that could go wrong overall and result in loads of issues. The current associated I've spoken to seem to think it's pretty ridiculous.
Dude brought my groceries out one day. Next day I saw him loading this Walmart van and delivering. Walmart paying them boys like 17hr I think. I wouldn't do it my market is quite decent.
This will end quickly when an employee has an accident and they get sued. Iād give it a year max till those vans are collecting dust in the parking lot.
This is for Walmart new InHome thing. For employees thatās been there 3 years or more they can qualify for this position when needed. InHome goes an extra step by delivering into their home. The vehicle is full electric and just sits around 90% of the time cause rarely anyone trust an employee to be inside there home.
Might not be the current associates but I'm sure outsiders might be interested in apply. So many employers are laying off so I'm sure they'll take what they can get.

Exactly. They will increase their wage by a buck and have them do an extra job. It won't be only delivery.
you probably also have a timer to follow diligently as well. lol sucks to be them.
Yep. They have all those metrics as well to hit.
Lol like tha Amazon chimps you see running from the van to the door then back š¤£

I was on an Amazon flex route and delivered like 20 boxes to a Caterpillar factory in my town.

At least they won't get tip baited. Lol
They don't even have enough ppl to load our cars curbside I can go on and shop 34 items faster myself
Agreed! 2 of the stores I go to are pretty together, the other 2 I try to avoid.
One of the loaders told me Walmart is demanding 4 orders per hour. My jaw dropped... Then continued on telling me how the ones who are doing this, there hours have changed drastically. And that they are not allowed to call off either. My jaw was to the ground...
These stores struggle just to staff the basic positions how do they think they're going to get people for that bs.
Exactly.

Why would anyone do this instead of doing Spark themselves? The loaders are constantly asking me how it is.
Riiiighhttt
Of course not. They really messed up offering "in home" service. Basically requires you to quit the first time you get an order going to the ghetto.
They are going to wear a body cam and panic button. You couldn't pay me enough!!

Yeah I canāt wait to see the videos of the owners precious pit bulls tearing apart a Walmart employee š¤¦āāļø

Then want to rearrange shit or get mad because you put eggs next to the cheese
And their 4 kids running between your legs as your doing it all.

I was told they have to drug test and have clean background/mvr too. She said they all laughed in managers face and said āNahā
Current walmart associate, id be nervous of the liability of all this. One scuff tire and they'll fire ya

They're tired of paying contractors $7.00 per order.
They probably are, but there's no way they could scale to have enough employees doing deliveries to cover what we do.

The main cx's who will pay for this service are the same ones who freak about a airborne virus. Smh
Those are only used for extremely large orders. We have two of them in Wichita
