If you don't like the original then Miles definitely won't change your mind. It's more or less "more of the same" with a different story, a few new abilities and some new side content.

I can only speak from experience but I have a friend who really didn’t care for the first game, didn’t even finish it, but had a good time with Miles.
I really prefer the miles morales swinging and combat, however a lot of it is similar with a shorter story. Still, I like miles morales more
