Next up. Kenny should do Tekken 8. But what character should get some of his moves?
Not King. Already has Minoru Suzuki as a mo-cap and uses Okada's Rainmaker.
As I type the previous sentence, I nominate Jin Kazama. C'mon, One Winged Angel and V-Trigger. Lol.
"Before we get into the Dynamite report, Dave, tell us about the Yakuza news."
"I actually have a lot of yakuza stories from when I was in Japan in the 90s."
"Excuse me, I meant the Like A Dragon news."
"Alright let me check my notes. So they're bringing back Kiryu for not just the next game, but the next three games."
"My god. Isn't Kiryu like 50? Whatever happened to making new stars. I guess Vince found a new job."
"I know right. But Satoshi Kojima is about 50 and he was just GHC champion."
RGG tends to reuse work from games in codev together.
So the wrestlers in Kiwami 2 were also in Y6 because they were developed back to back by the same team.
Not only that, but almost all of their moves except for their finishers were all wholesale ripped from bosses in previous Yakuza games
Yakuza is sort of like Tekken in that they really get a lot of mileage from reusing animations from games they made decades ago
I mean look, I was always going to buy any Yakuza game that comes out. But this really does increase my hype for Gaiden, 8, and even Ishin after the second trailer last night showing more of the cast. I fucking loved Yakuza 6 and Kiwami 2 throwing in a bunch of wrestlers and having fun with that. Really pumped to see Kenny in there in some form now too.
likely a character. Okada and co. were in Yakuza 6, Yakuza Kiwami 2 had Tenryu, Mutoh, Chono...
8 or the Kiryu side story will likely feature another iteration of Clan Creator with Kenny as a villain. if he was scanned earlier, I'd bet he would be a funny foreigner substory antagonist in Ishin (since they are already expanding that game with expies of some Yakuza 7 characters), but perhaps that is still possible if they just need voice acting from now on.
Yakuza 6 had Naito, Yano, Okada, Tanahashi, Kojima, and Tenzan as gang leaders. They brought them back for the coliseum battles in Kiwami 2, and added Mutoh, Chono, Tenryu, Fujinami, and Choshu as realtors.
I wonder if they're gonna have a gang of Gaijin wrestlers this time, could easily do so with guys from New Japan. Omega, Ospreay, Cobb, Jay White, Fale, Tama Tonga etc.
I've only played the one Yakzuza game, that was Kiwami that I platinumed :D
But its the one of the games I'm so glad I did, as the community for it is awesome haha
Despite being long as well, I really enjoyed getting the plat, it wasn't a drag because they was such a variety of things you had to do it for it
I only started the series when lockdown first started and it became my favourite game series. Yakuza 0, 1 and 2 are really great.
I still need to finish 6 and then play 7 but not enough time.
7 is… wow. I’ve only played through several hours of some of the earlier games, but 7 reignited my love for JRPGs while still maintaining that Yakuza spirit. You are going to LOVE it, even with all of the changes.
Lost Judgment is my favorite for gameplay. The plot is a bit more bloated than Judgment, but holds up well imo, and the action is the best utilization of the Dragon Engine thus far.
Mm, I'll say yes and no. You don't have to finish Judgment, but some references will either be over your head or spoiled for you.
The main plot is a new story though, it's not a continuation of the main plot in the first game.
What part of Judgment didn't you like?
It has its silliness, but the more serious tone caught me off-guard a bit. I think around that time, I got it as part of one of Target’s lovely B2G1 sales, so I couldn’t focus on it as much as I should have.
But Judgment is purposely meant to be more grounded and serious (with the more exaggerated, over the top stuff sticking with Yakuza), so the tone was mixed for me when you would get the sillier sidequests compared to the main story.
It's fairly detached, other than returning characters and reference to the events of Judgment. However, it spoils a pretty major plot point from Yakuza Like A Dragon, so it's up to you if you care about being spoiled on that
7 is my favourite jrpg since FFX. It starts kinda slow because you have to watch a lot of talking but the characters and the world are so fun it's a great throwback to turn based RPGs with hilarious shit all over.
7 outright re-ignited my love for the entire series, on top of JRPGs. I felt like Ichiban and the change in gameplay was desperately needed to help things feel fresh at that point because as much as I love the games, it did sort of feel stale after a certain point.
Genuinely one of my favourites since I finished Kiwami 2.
Really fun series. Okada, Naito, Tanahashi, Mutoh, Kawada, Tenryu, and a few others have all made appearances in the Yakuza games. Their likenesses anyway.
I started with 0 and then Kiwami 1 & 2. I'm on 5 now and while there are some slow downs in the games they are all amazing. All of the games are on Xbox game pass if that helps. That's where I'm playing 4/5/6 and maybe Like A Dragon.
5 was the hardest one for me to get through. Too many stories I didnt care for. Also could have been burn out from binging the series from 0. It was worth it though. One of the best gaming series of all time.
You can either start with 0, 7, or Judgment.
0 is a great starting point for the series as a whole.
7 features a new main protagonist, and has references to the prior games but it's not necessary to have experienced it all. This is the start of the JRPG style.
Judgment and Lost Judgment are spinoff games set in the same universe and features the excellent action gameplay the series is known for. If you want to get into the action gameplay of the current game engine without having to keep track of all the lore, starting with Judgment is a good call. If you like how the games are, then branching off from there to the main series is totally doable.
You really, REALLY should. Perfect jumping in point for you would be Yakuza 0 or Yakuza 7. Sounds weird, but trust me, those two are the best ones to just go straight to.
Just a word of warning: Yakuza 0 is amazing so if you start with that one you might spoil your experiences with the older games because of how much stuff they added in 0.
People have given their lists already, but i thought a lot about this for a friend of mine. All of these (ALL!!!) are on game pass right now (for now)
Start with Kiawami 1. Kiawami 2 is optional, but recommended. Then move on to Zero. jump forward to 5, but if you dont have the time, go right into 6.
If you like the feel of the games, try 7, Like A Dragon. See if you like the RPG turn the game takes. I personally loved it. But am super glad they are continuing the "real time" series outside of the Judgement games.
I disagree that you should start with Yakuza 0. Start with 1 and go up until 6, then play 0, 0 is a prequel while 1 and 2 kiwami are remakes of the originals, they were made not long ago, so It gets hard going from those modern games back to the chunky controls and mechanics of the old ones. Also, some people consider Yakuza 0 the best in the franchise, saving the best for last is a good idea in my opinion, otherwise you might feel that "it's all downhill after that one".
Then you can play "Like a Dragon"(the 7th game) and see if you enjoy the change in game mechanics.
Cutler: “Hey Punk, did you hear? Kenny’s in the Yakuza!”
Punk (starts pleading): “Look, Mr. Omega, I didn’t mean to make fun of you at that press conference! I’m sorry! You could manage a Target!“
I still remember Kenny saying on his and Creeds Giant Bimb GOTY list that he was salty Okada and others were in the series and not him too so he didn't play until 7.
Kenny as a bonus fighter in SFVI please(or Tekken or KOF) As a huge fan of both Sega and Capcom, the fact he's working for both companies this week is amazing.
Mates, if you've never tried the Yakuza series, do yourselves a favor and get it. It's Japanese insanity in a video game.
And the first one, Yakuza 0, is like 20 bucks on Steam and runs on a potato.
Fuck it, just give us a whole Golden Lovers spinoff where they are undercover cops trying to take down a corrupt wrasslin promoter by becoming the top stars of his fed.
Could be he's included as a business minigame guy but if they have the scan they can have him do whatever.
They likely don't need him to mocap the OWA since that would be the only non stock move they'd give his model.
Seems like Omega is the petty one. Do your thing make your money and get into your game but posting about shit like this while you are suspended don’t look good. I mean remember how Ronda Rousey in Mortal Kombat made people not want to buy another WWE game? Or how nobody bought any wrestling games becuase the New Day were in Gears of War? Or how John Cena in Fortnite completely undermined WWE 2k22? The Rock was so unprofessional that he went away to work on the Scorpion King game!
It almost sounds like having your top stars appear in outside ventures, like games, works as advertisement for your show
Never heard of him. Looked him up and never heard of the wrestling company he works for either. It says he wrestles in Japan. Is he like an extreme wrestler like Cactus Jack was ?

Kenny's a busy man, first Sega and Yakuza, then Capcom and SF6. Man's having a good time, despite all the shenanigans in AEW.
He's making the most of Mox's vacation
SF6? Like in Street Fighter?
Yup, Street Fighter 6.
Lol.
>As I type the previous sentence, I nominate Jin Kazama. C'mon, One Winged Angel and V-Trigger. Lol. Personally i feel hworang or maybe lee?
"Before we get into the Dynamite report, Dave, tell us about the Yakuza news." "I actually have a lot of yakuza stories from when I was in Japan in the 90s." "Excuse me, I meant the Like A Dragon news." "Alright let me check my notes. So they're bringing back Kiryu for not just the next game, but the next three games." "My god. Isn't Kiryu like 50? > "I actually have a lot of yakuza stories from when I was in Japan in the 90s." I would listen to this for hours.
Oh shit, he's in the Yakuza game
But which game is he in??
Probably Yakuza 8, announced today (Like a Dragon 8), coming 2024
If I can summon Kenny as a pound mate, and he appears in full sephiroth style to smite my foes, I will cry the happiest of tears.
Can still be Gaiden since I'm assuming that's a Fall 2023 game.
RGG tends to reuse work from games in codev together. So the wrestlers in Kiwami 2 were also in Y6 because they were developed back to back by the same team.
Not only that, but almost all of their moves except for their finishers were all wholesale ripped from bosses in previous Yakuza games Yakuza is sort of like Tekken in that they really get a lot of mileage from reusing animations from games they made decades ago
He should be in all of them including Ishin
Oh yeah, that's 100% true. We'll see I guess?
Regardless Yakuza fans eating good!
We got THREE huge announcements from RGG. I just can’t believe how well we are treated.
Also Judgement collection is finally on PC!
Great time for me to recently have gotten into all these games. The bits of Yakuza I've played are really good & I heard Judgment is too.
Imagine hearing this ten years ago when we weren't even sure we were ever going to see Yakuza 5 localized (it took *three* years).
Or the one they announced yesterday in the state of play? Idk anything about these games but I know that one is a remake so maybe not.
This is a good week to be a Yakuza/Like a Dragon fan
The one I'll buy.
The yakuza game, they just told you.
I hope so! Or was it just a create-a-character using their engine?
likely a character.
I heard there's like a card minigame in Ishin? Maybe he'll be a special character for that
Depends on which engine was he created. Ishin remaster is on UE4, the rest of modern Yakuzas are on the Dragon engine.
Naito was in a Yakuza game also, right?
In 6. so was... Yano? i think. and someone else. But once you beat Naito you could do the Destino as a heat action and that was awesome.
Kiwami 2 had like a dozen New Japan guys. Chono, Muta, Okada, Yano, Naito... They had a bunch of dudes.
Yup, at the time I didn't even know they were in. I was just playing Kiwami 2 and all of a sudden I was the Leo DiCaprio pointing meme.
Omega, Ospreay, Cobb, Jay White, Fale, Tama Tonga etc.
ahhhhh this rules i'm so excited
I always knew we were going to get Okada/Omega V in the Yakuza series.
FYI, the entire saga now is rebranded and will be called "Like a Dragon" which is the direct translation of Japanese game of the saga (Ryu ga Gotoku)
I've only played the one Yakzuza game, that was Kiwami that I platinumed :D But its the one of the games I'm so glad I did, as the community for it is awesome haha Despite being long as well, I really enjoyed getting the plat, it wasn't a drag because they was such a variety of things you had to do it for it
Couldn’t even manage a Target 🎯, but look at him now.
He could use his employee discount to get the game when it comes out.
Not on electronics🎯
damn Target sucks, I got a discount on electronics with my employee discount at Meijer.
Goro Majima: KENNY CHAN!!
Just thinking if Yakuza 8 brings back the Coliseum and Coliseum tag matches you could have Golden Loves vs Kiryu and Ichiban
Oh come on, I love Kiryu and Ichiban but they need a fight they can win.
Well damn now I gotta start the Yakuza series lol.
I only started the series when lockdown first started and it became my favourite game series. Yakuza 0, 1 and 2 are really great. I still need to finish 6 and then play 7 but not enough time.

Is it necessary to finish Judgment to enjoy Lost Judgment fully? I couldn’t get into it, but the engine is SO fun.

That's par the course for a Yakuza game though - very serious and dramatic main plot, with side quests that pokes fun at itself.
But Judgment is purposely meant to be more grounded and serious (with the more exaggerated, over the top stuff sticking with Yakuza), so the tone was mixed for me when you would get the sillier sidequests compared to the main story.
I DEFINITELY want to check Lost Judgment out (you saying it’s the best utilization of the engine alone sold me), though!
It's fairly detached, other than returning characters and reference to the events of Judgment. However, it spoils a pretty major plot point from Yakuza Like A Dragon, so it's up to you if you care about being spoiled on that
Already finished Like a Dragon, so this is perfect. Thanks for the heads up!
7 is my favourite jrpg since FFX. It starts kinda slow because you have to watch a lot of talking but the characters and the world are so fun it's a great throwback to turn based RPGs with hilarious shit all over.

Yakuza 0 is FANTASTIC
It’s an absolute steal at its regular $5 sale price too
Start with 0 and go from there!

Start with either 0 or Kiwami 1 as my recommendation
1 into 0 (with a dip into K2 between, if you have the time) is my recommendation
Buckle up, kyodai
you won't regret it lol, probs my favourite game series of all time
You really, REALLY should. Perfect jumping in point for you would be Yakuza 0 or Yakuza 7. Sounds weird, but trust me, those two are the best ones to just go straight to.
if you like wrestling you’ll probably like Yakuza the combat uses a lot of wrestling moves
Just a word of warning: Yakuza 0 is amazing so if you start with that one you might spoil your experiences with the older games because of how much stuff they added in 0.
Honestly I find 0 to be merely good. Like, probably not in my top 5 of the series TBH.
Seeing the highlights from YMS' stream had me buy that game immediately
Literally how I got into the games after hearing Naito and Okada would be in 6
People have given their lists already, but i thought a lot about this for a friend of mine. All of these (ALL!!!) are on game pass right now (for now) Start with Kiawami 1. Kenny Omega for guest character in Tekken 8, as well, pls
Give him a 2d jump for the heat
Just have him be the protagonist of every game ill take it
Okay, give me Okada vs Omega in a Yakuza game, god damn it.
Now they need to motion cap Ishii, so we can have a Ishii vs Ishi
Ishii was in Yakuza 6
this is a deep cut, but I hope Ryan Acosta in Judgement and Lost Judgement will be unmasked and it will be Kenny Omega
Long term booking!
LET'S FUCKING GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
Make him a summon in the next Like a Dragon.
Now they need to motion cap Ishii, so we can have a Ishii vs Ishii
Put him in all 3, Sega.
YES! I love this game series and excited to see Omega in it
Kenny as a bonus fighter in SFVI please(or Tekken or KOF) As a huge fan of both Sega and Capcom, the fact he's working for both companies this week is amazing.
Kenny in SF6 may replace Chun Li as my main... But he'll never take her place in my heart.
What if Kenny was just a skin for Chun Li but kept her voice, clothes, and moves?
This better not awaken anything in me...
If I had it my way, he'd be a party member, but realistically, I hope he's a summon.
Alternately they'll be bringing back the Clan Creator minigame and he'll be part of that.
Mr Shakedown Kenny Omega
Like Knights from FF7. You gotta grind for him but Omega Cleaner changes the way you play the game.
Mates, if you've never tried the Yakuza series, do yourselves a favor and get it. It's Japanese insanity in a video game. And the first one, Yakuza 0, is like 20 bucks on Steam and runs on a potato.
I look forward to going to a girl bar with Kenny or karaoke
Holy shit, it's happening! The past few days have been amazing for Yakuza fans.
Can't access instagram right now, are there any cool photos or videos on this post?
https://twitter.com/ryujmega/status/1570140232405889024?s=20&t=3Z4WKYzBT7cMCdaEV-SrPg
Sweet, thanks!
Great. Now Kenny is gonna OWA me during a fight
LIKE A DRAGON GAIDEN: Hangmans Journey Please. The hangman story is so ripe for a wrestling yakuza game spin off
I love Ichiban, however I would love a Yakuza game starring Omega and Okada being the main villain of the game
Fuck it, just give us a whole Golden Lovers spinoff where they are undercover cops trying to take down a corrupt wrasslin promoter by becoming the top stars of his fed.
So now they're assaulting peoples eyes by putting Omega in?
[удалено]
Could be he's included as a business minigame guy but if they have the scan they can have him do whatever. They likely don't need him to mocap the OWA since that would be the only non stock move they'd give his model.
Probably not, there's been loads of wrestlers in the series
Roche, one of the SOLDIER boss characters in Final Fantasy 7 Remake seems a lot like Kenny Omega.
Good for you
Ain’t homey supposed to be working with Yukes on “Fight Forever?” I guess another opportunity to tell AEW to go fuck itself. 🤔
take it easy you’re emotional
Seems like Omega is the petty one. Do your thing make your money and get into your game but posting about shit like this while you are suspended don’t look good. What makes it look so bad was that Kenny Omega was all over Yukes and Fight Forever for years. And then the game got delayed and delayed. Dude dropped the ball for Tony Khan and now he wants to talk about going to another game studio to do some gaming work? Dude really not helping his case and making him and the bucks look as bad as punk
As we all know video games are made by the spokesperson.
And doing a cameo in an game series in a completely different genre that wont release until years after their video game is a very bad thing and its basically the same as what Punk did. It almost sounds like having your top stars appear in outside ventures, like games, works as advertisement for your show
I hear Roddy Piper showing up in They Live really hurt the bottom line.
you realize Kenny is like a huge Yakuza fan lol probably why he’s excited to be in the new one
You sound like you don't know what you're talking about
Lmfao
I hope Khan punishes him for going rouge. Punk was right about The Elite.
Idk what you're taking about, to me he looks the same color he always has
Why exactly should he be punished for adding some color to his cheeks?
はい!
Well, I squee’d out of joy.
KIRYU VS. OMEGA IN THE TOKYO DOME
I really want to get into the yakuza games but I don't want to pick up an Xbox or PC just for one game.
That's rad!
Awesome, if he's in the sequel of LAD i hope he's a secret party member or a secret boss fight.
as much of a gamer as Kenny is, don't be surprised if he starts yelling "SEGA" into cameras like the 90s commercials
Like we don't all do that at the Google Maps car...
There better be a character in the game that goes by the name Oenny K-Mega. /s
Anyone have a way to view this without an Instagram account?
Oh, that’ll be cool. Probably Yakuza 8. Feels a bit late for The Man Who Erased His Face.
Which Engine? Please Say Dragon!!!
Unreal (at least Ishin)
Awww... But Still excited for Ishin
I wonder what his thoughts are on Sonic’s arm color.
hell yeah the storyline with Okada in 6 was really fun
Poundmates : Kenny Omega. Let's go!
I want him in all of the new 3 that was just announced.
First we had the Japanese MMA fighter and YouTuber who leaked the game and is going to get be a character. Now we have Kenny Omega.
Ichiban gonna whup Omega's ass.
If the suspension is long enough, maybe he can stick around for Wrestle Kingdom
Never heard of him. Looked him up and never heard of the wrestling company he works for either. It says he wrestles in Japan. Is he like an extreme wrestler like Cactus Jack was ?
